Export to FCPX 10.0.5

I am working on a video project for school. At school, we use FCPX 10.0.5, on OS X 10.7. On my personal computer, I have FCPX 10.1.1 on OS X 10.9.3. I would like to be able to edit the video at home (I have the Project on an external HD) and still be able to work on it at school. Is this possible? Can I export it from FCP 10.1.1 to a format readable by 10.0.5?

No, this isn't possible. The project structure is completely different and the XML file is not compatiable with the earlier version.

  • I am trying out Final Cut Pro X and trying desperately to import a project from iMovie 11 (version 9.0.9). There is no export to FCPX in iMovie 11 nor is there import from iMovie in FCPX.

    Can someone please help me?
I am trying out Final Cut Pro X on a 30 day trial. So far so good.
I am now trying desperately to import a project from iMovie 11 (version 9.0.9) into FCPX.
I have read multiple posts on this subject and they all recommend File/import/ from iMovie project in FCPX
However there is NO such option under File/import in FCPX - nor is there an option to export to FCPX in iMovie 11
    Can anyone please enlighten me.

The current version of FCPX does not work with that version of iMovie. You need version 10.0.3, which allows you to send a project to FCP.

  • Process for exporting in FCPX and then using MPEG Streamclip to downgrade?

I have footage shot with a 5Diii, and it is set at 1920x1080, 23.98p.
When I export through FCPX at H.264, it gives me a beautiful master file, but is larger than the 4GB that I need.
What is the process for using MPEG Streamclip to get a smaller file?
Do I export a master file in FCPX first using a different codec, and then use MPEG Streamclip to compress it? If so, what would be the best setting to export from FCPX, and then what would be the best setting to compress at in MPEG streamclip?
My goal is to be as close to 1080HD as possible.

Here is the background story....... I provide movie files on a DVD delivery (files in SD quality) and then also give a copy of the same films on a flash drive so clients can have it in HD quality, and plug the flash drive directly into the TV.
This always worked fine in the past until I ran into a movie file that is 4.7GB, and would not copy onto the flash drive, since flash drives only accept files up to 4GB.
So I tried reformating the flashdrive to exFAT. It allowed me to copy the 4.7GB on the flashdrive, but when I tried plugging it in directly to the TV, the TV did not recognize the drive. (I learned that exFAT is not always compatable with all TVs.)
My other option would be to download an app to let me reformat the drive into NTFS which accepts files bigger than 4GB, and supposedly works better with TVs. I haven't tried this yet because I am worried that downloading that app might mess up my computer. ???????
So....I have come to the conclusion that the only other thing I can do is compress the 4.7GB file to be 4GB (or less) so it will fit on the flash drive which I believe had an original format was MS-DOS FAT.
Are you suggesting instead of exporting the file from FCPX in H264, I should do it in ProRes? The file will be much larger than 4GB, but, then I can compress it, without losing as much of the quality as I would if I compressed an H264 file? Either way it needs to be 4GB or less, so I don't know if that defeats the purpose of using a ProRes file to begin with.
Thank you so much for helping with this!

  • Error when exporting in fcpx

I get this error message when exporting from fcpx.
I have been having numerous problems with fcpx but i need to export this project now..its urgent
The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 3690 (error -1).

Lately, most reports of this error have been people who had upgraded to 10.9 but who also needed to update FCPX.
Since that doesn't apply to you…
In Preferences> Editing, change Time Display to Frames. Find the clip at that frame number and replace it with something else. Mark a short section that includes that frame number and see whether it will export as a master clip. If it does, it means have found a corrupt clip.
If it doesn't export, turn off BG Rendering, and from within FCP, delete both project render files and event render file (choose All Render Files). Try the short export again.

  • Problems exporting from FCPX

I can not export from FCPX. Get stuck on 95% and I give up after 45 min. It´s about 15 min fotage that I tried to export in Apple TV3 format.

I've had this issue weekly with a show I produce.  It bugs me for hours.  In my case, I have to wait until the entire timeline is rendered, and then I have to export it to ProRes 422.  Any other codec requires a re-render, which provokes the problem again.  The problem starts when I take a few clips from my P2 and use the stability function along with any color correction topping them off with titles.  It seems as though part of the rendering process involves re-analyzing the entire clip during rendering, and if I don't allow it to completely render the clips, I get missing video with graphics on top.  I have a 12-core machine with 16GB RAM, and yet it still takes about two hours to render my 30 minute show after I'm done.  This doesn't include the hours it takes to analyze the P2 clips as I import them, which also hinders me during editing and causes continual crashes.  I'm hoping this new update I'm about to run addresses some of those issues.

  • Export from FCPX to Compressor 4 Failed - Quick time Error:-50

    Hi all,
Having some trouble exporting a large video (1080p, about 5 gb) after using the Share>send to compressor option.  Footage was shot with a Canon Ti3, and exported fine by itself to an .mov, but when sent to compressor I get the above error.
I have so far done the following:
trashed FCPX and Compressor 4 prefs
    checked for updates
deleted the projects render files and rerendered
    Any ideas?  Screen shot below.
    Jimmy

There have been many reports of QT- 50 errors on export at FCPX forum.
This may sound as though I'm changing the subject, but why not bring your exported movie into Compressor? It's always been a more reliable workflow than Send-to Compressor going back to the FCS days.
If you are committed to the Send workflow,  try creating a new project and copy and paste from the old project to the new.

The requirements have changed  a bit since the first version two and half years ago. It's also possible the software was simply copied onto the machine without being downloaded from the App Store.

  • No export in FCPX 10.0.9

    Hi,
I tried to export my movies in FCPX 10.0.9 but nothing happend.
I tried this on an iMac running OS X 10.6.8, on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.9. and even on an iMac (latest model with 32 GB of RAM) with OS X 10.9.
But none of these could export my movies.
In the past there wasn't any problem with the export.
But since I upgraded to 10.0.9 the export is no longer possible.
I have read most of the threads (probably all) regarding this export problem but none of these solved my problem.
    Thank you.

What are the project properties? How are you export? What exactly happens when you try to export? Step by step what do you see. What's happens in the background task window?

  • Can't export video (FCPx)

I'm having a problem exporting (using Export) a video that contains chapter markers. It exports okay without the chaper markers. See attached error message.

    Glad you sorted it.
The last update seems to have created export issues for some system configurations. (The chapter marker track issue is a less common example.) As far as know, the reasons why some systems experience them and others don't hasn't been identified by the user community. Presumably, they will be by Apple, and we'll be able to move on. But in the meantime, it's understandable you would be disappointed.
Yes, FCPX uses a lot of RAM, which luckily is

  • Can't export in FCPX 10.1.1 for NO REASON.  Can some one please help.  On a suped up 2010 iMac running Mavericks...

All of a sudden no exports are working... I am in a CRUNCH of a timeline, client is waiting and then FCPX does this....?
I cleared renders, and still no luck exporting pro res, H264... nothing....
    HELP...
    please...

See if it's corrupted render. Turn off background rendering. Select the project and from the File menu, choose Delete Project Render Files (then click on All). Select the Event and in similar fashion, delete the event render files. In the project timeline, select a short section and – without rendering – export a master file. If that succeeds, you're probably in business for the whole project.
If it still doesn't export, create a new project and copy the unrendered timeline to the empty project. See if that exports.
Post back and let us know the outcome.

  • Why is QT not playing my movies which have been exported from FCPX?

Nov 11, 2012 1:07 AM Hello there. I have posted this post in Mac intel forums but have been redirected to post this post in FCPX forums and hence I am posting this thread here. Hope I will be given the proper answer to my problem/s which seem to be growing day after day.
I hope this is the right forum to place this post.
I have been facing this problem for the past 2 days only and I remember it all started after I had exported my latest project in FCPX. The exported file would not open up in quicktime player, and I started getting this notice even with other movies which were exported earlier and were being played by QT with no problem.
The screenshot given above came with with a movie I had exported about 2 months ago. At that time QT had no problem in playing it. But now, Why is it not able to play the same?
FYI, the latest project I had exported was started in fcpx 10-0-5 version and I had upgraded to the latest 10-0-6 version while the project was yet unfinished.
Apart from this problem, a number of other problems also have simulataneously raised their heads: FCPX is not opening up: stating that there is a corrupt data base which has to either restored or moved. And, when I try to move or delete the corrupt files via finder, I am not being allowed to delete them...error code -50 being the 'culprit'.
I am growing faint with all these malfunctioning and am in a perplexity of what to do next!
Any helps or guidance will be deeply appreciated.
    Thanks. Take care.

Hello, hello, hello to one and all! Both the goose and Karsten's horse have been resurrected. HO HO HO am I on the top of the world. I feel that in asingle moment I have been transferred from the depths of the Dead sea to the top of Mount Everest!
What seemed to have worked is this:
I selected one QT movie which was not being opened and subjected it to PMan which did a rebuild and created an new repaired movie. I played it on QT and to my pleasant surprise it opened and I could watch the movie. There was one movie which was not being played in QT. I attempted to repair the same with Pman, but received a notice that it could'nt. It was not an important one and so I deleted the same. I tried playing other movies and found out that QT was playing the other exported movies which it was not opening earlier. Next, before opening FCPX  I first opened the final cut events and deleted, or rather, was able to delete one particular event which I had been suspecting to be the cause of all these malfunctions: it was a still image captured on my daughter's Galaxy and she had sent the same to me via email a few days ago. I had imported the pic. into an event. When FCPX began its refusal to start misbehavior, it blamed this pic as one of the corrupt files which had to be restored or moved. Deleting this pic resulted in the resurrection of my works and I am taking no more chances in this matter. Right now I am in the process of duplicating completed projects on my scratch drive and archiving them in a different drive. I am duplicating them only with the used clips. Guess if any further clips are needed while rediting the work later, I could always import fresh clips into the event.
Thanks to all of you who have been helping me out in this thread. Any guidance as to how to avoit getting into this unpleasant situation will be received with attentive ears.

  • No response when trying to export with fcpx

Just updated to Mavericks. Everything worked fine before then.
So I finished my project , go to export, and no response. When I try and export to vimeo or you tube I get this error -
"The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.Compressor.CompressorKit.ErrorDomain error -1.)"
Its not a camera import issue. I actually made another project with clips that I know to have exported, with no problem. And again, there is no response when I  export project.
And I can't uninstall fcpx because I have clips saved to the program. And hard drive is dead.
    Thank you for your help!

    CClips aren't inside the application.
What version are you using? older versions don't work with 10.9.

  • Can't export from FCPX!! (error -1)

Hi, I'm running FCPX 10.0.8 on a late 2012 iMac and I've got to get an edit out urgently for the client but I keep getting an error every time I try to export. I can't do anything with this video if I can't export it!!! I need help urgently.
I get the following message as attached:
The share operation Master File has failed.
The operation could not be completed because an error occurred when creating frame 1328 (error -1).
    It's 1440X1080 ProRes 422 original footage AVCHD.
Any help on this?! It's urgent!
Btw I've already located frame 1328 and removed the clip that starts there. Still fails. Also tried copy/pasting it into new project and rendering it all again. Still fails.
    Many thaks

    Hi saddact,
I, along with many others are having the same problem. I am days behind on delivery of of a master disk for a client and thanks to FCPX 10.0.8, I have not been able to.  I am currently "sharing" a masterfile and as of now it is working, I am at 73% . . .
First  duplicated file, then the below . . .
Here is what seems to be working for me (fingers crossed):
Settings in Preferences set to under Playback / background render unchecked,   under Destinations / Masterfile codec ProRes 422, . . .
Well forget that, just failed!!! "encoding frame error" one of many I have seen over the last few days!!!
I was able to export a codec set to H.264 last night, maybe I try that again.
Well I did not try deleting preferences this last time . . . try that along with the above.
Come on, lets get the updates right BEFORE releasing them.

The share tab is greyed out when trying to export from Final Cut Pro X
Please help with a REAL answer in plain English.
    Thank you!

    Thank you Tom!
    I checked every clip -
    Trashed preferences too.
Finally, I took your advice and backed-up  my events and projects.
    Trashed Final Cut Pro X
Downloaded a new copy from FCPX from the app store (from my previous purchases)
    Restarted FCPX
    Opened my event
Moved to the timeline - and now!
    The SHARE tab works!
Every aspect of FCPX is working faster as well.
    Go figure?
    Thanks again!

  • Never Ending "Waiting" Export Stills FCPX

I use Final Cut Pro X version 10.1.2 and when I try to export a still frame(jpeg or any format) I get a never ending waiting in the share window. This used to happen with about every 5-10 images and then would restart FCPX and it would be back to normal. Now it does it from the start and cannot export a single still for my work projects.
I have tried trashing Preferences, restarting computer, shut down computer, and resetting queue in Compressor settings even though I don't use compressor app for this process.
Any help or ideas on how to get back to processing stills is greatly appreciated! Thank you
    Final Cut Pro X 10.1.2 r, OS X Mavericks 10.9.4

After a bit more research I have actually found a solution!! Not sure what app nap is but I went and checked the "prevent app nap" box when I clicked "get info" on fcpx application.
I am now exporting images without any problems! Wooooot =D
