Export to Flash CS3, SWFs not editable - HELP!
On this page (
http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/integration/flash/)
it says about exporting to Flash, "Each Adobe Captivate slide is
automatically inserted into the Flash Timeline, with objects,
images, audio, and backgrounds on individually labeled layers.
Similarly, the Flash library is automatically updated with folders
containing all the objects created in Adobe Captivate 3."
This is not working for me. Instead I'm getting a bunch of
movie placeholders on my main timeline, with all the Captivate
slides exported as SWF files, and I'm not able to edit anything.
What am I doing wrong? Does this have something to do with
"full motion"?

After years of using Flash CS3 on our Windows 7 computer, it would not launch. So we did a system recovery -(everted to factory image), re-installed Windows and updates, installed Flash CS3, then successfully did the license verification. But Flash CS3 will not launch.
We copied the Flash Icon from the Start Menu to the TaskBar. This is the icon we clicked on to do license verification, but now we can't use it to launch Flash CS3.
Thanks for any ideas.
Computer specs:
HP - Pavilion Elite Desktop
AMD Phenom™ II Processor
8GB Memory
1TB Hard Drive
Model: HPE-210y
Window 7 with Service Pack 1; all updates applied as of 10/26/2014
(I realize Flash CS3 is not meant to work on Win 7, but it has for years on this computer and on a Toshiba laptop, also with AMD processor)Well I decided to reinstall OSX to see if that would help,
and that seemed to fix it. I'm still not sure what the problem was,
but a fresh install seemes to have fixed it :] -

Hi
When I edit a Flash CS3 document from Dreamweaver CS 3 on a
Mac it jumps
into Flash as normal. When I do the changes and click
Done¹ it jumps back
to Dreamweaver as it should do but then Flash quits. (a
normal quit and not
a crash by the way)
Is there a way of stopping Flash from quitting after doing a
change as
restarting the app every time to do another change is
annoying.
Thanks

--B_3265632891_1555756--OK, I have wiped the larger drive and done a complete reinstall of OSX (and updates) and reinstalled all applications on it, so I now have:
Main Drive (OS and apps.): 465GB, with 430GB of free space
2nd Drive (scratch disk): 149GB, with 66GB of free space
RAM (I've added 2 more GBs): 5GB
But the problem with Flash pausing when I go back to it from another application is exactly as it was before I upgraded anything.
Is it possible this is a Finder problem? - as I also have a problem bringing up Finder by clicking on the desktop background if I am in another application - it just won't work, and I am forced to select Finder from the dock.
Thanks. -
Flash CS3 will NOT export my flash video
Alright, so I want to start out by saying, I hate Microsoft
(always will, they will never get anything right) and if I had
1500+ bucks I would buy a mac, but I'm stuck with my XP machine.
My machine is a Dell (reformatted so that I don't have all
Dell's "junkware"). I have a Pentium 4 3.4 Ghz with HT, 2GB DDR2
RAM, and a Radeon x600 HyperMemory 256MB graphics card. I also run
Windows XP and my version of CS3 is Web Premium (Student, but that
shouldn't make a difference.) So my machine is more than compatible
with Flash Pro CS3. But for some reason, when ever I do ANYTHING to
"Publish" my flash video, it (the one and only Windows XP) will
come up and say that Flash CS3 needs to close. I have tried Debug,
I'm pretty sure I've tried everything.
This is my first flash movie and so far I'm getting the worst
impression from my software. It's not anything that is REALLY
complicated, All I have is text tweening in and out of my canvas
(and yes they are converted to symbols).
Not quite sure what else to do other than give up. Please
help me!I am having a similar problem. Looks like this issue is languishing in Adobe's legendary support netherworld...

Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.
When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations, with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?
Thank you,
Olivier. The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
- Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
the SWF2Video tool.
hope this helps.

Flash CS3 swf quality on dvd work flow
I have a larage movie that will not export out of flash in avi it stops work windowsexporterserver.exe stops working and it stops. i want the quality i see in swf file and windows exe projector file on dvd and the web Ihave tried everything
I have a flash CS3 movie and the quality in that .swf file and the projector file are great but I need to have this content on DVD and as Web based movie.
The export to movie in flash to either avi or mov file from flash does not even come close to quality that you have when viewing in .swf which is published with no problems from flash. The avi uncompressed file is over 4 gig not usable. All of the other codecs of mpeg stop working unknown error.
So when I import flash .swf into premiere pro CS4 and then try to export to any of the mpeg file types which are suggested the best for dvd and the web the windowsexpoerterexe stops working and the exports stops.
In premiere I try the send direct to encore cs4 and encode stops unknown error
How do I get the quality I see in the .swf and the windows projector.exe onto a dvd
You can see what I have been able to post so far on line but the quality is just not acceptable http://owensarchitects.com/cherokeeoverview.htm
and the DVD version I have been able to produce is even worse so what I missing

Photoshop CS3 export to Flash CS3
I have checked the adobe site, and the lynda.com site and
still can't find a way to export from Photoshop CS3 to Flash CS3 so
that all of the layers are imported into flash on individual
layers. I have found how to do it with CS2 using imageready but
that is no longer an option in CS3. Can anyone help? I have a flash
project on hold because of this one.
Thank you...I have tried saving the file from Photoshop CS3 as a PSD and
then importing it into Flash CS3. You get all the layers but not
the drop shadows. The drop shadows are there but as a part of what
ever they are shadowing, they are not a separate layer. Also using
CS2 and Imageready I could get the layers to be named the same as
my file name automatically so each layer would end up with a unique
name instead of layer1 and layer2. Is there still a way to do it
the way we used to or something similar so that everything is on
its own layer including drop shadows and the layers in flash are
automatically named for you on import? -
Flash CS3 mouseover effect..HELP
Hi all, Im new to Flash and was hoping someone could spare a
few mins to help me out.
I'd like to create a short flash animation and then bring it
into dreamweaver. When the webpage loads I'd like the flash
animation to be paused on frame 1 of the movie, then when the user
rolls over the flash movie, it will start to play and when the user
rolls off of the movie, it will revert to the first frame again.
Does this make sense to anyone? is it possible? If someone could

This is normally done using Gradient and mask. You will need
3 layers for it.
First top layer will be the mask. Type the text you want to
use and when you happy
with the size and all, copy it, CTRL C.
Second layer keep blank for now.
Go to 3rd, bottom layer, paste the text using paste in place
CTRL ALT V, so it's
erectly position in a place where the mask text is.
Pretty much it when comes to text, the last part is to make
the shine effect.
Go to the second layer, draw some gradient. Make the gradient
out of 3 colors, so
the colors in the COLOR pallet appear as gray on the left,
gray in the middle and
gray on the right. Set the left and the right to Alpha 0%
while keep the middle
fully 100% gray. We want the edges of that gradient soft to
simulate the light.
Convert that gradient to movie clip or graphic and motion
tween it from one side
to another.
And this is what you end up with:
http://flashfugitive.com/stuff/shine.swf
You need to play around with the gradient to find one that
suits your needs.
When comes to image, you simply draw shapes on the mask layer
through which you
want the shine /gradient to show up.

Export to Flash CS3 doesn't work
Hello,
I have Captivate 4 and Flash CS3 (full versions) - WinXP.
When I want export Captivate project to Flash - "File -> Export
-> Project to -> Flash CS3" I will get only notify: "Cannot
initialize Cpativate FLA Exporter. You may need to restart Flash."
Flash CS3 is running and Captivate project is saved. Any idea?
LeošHi Leoš,
I guess you are searching in the wrong place. Its not
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Flash
CS3\cs\Configuration\Importers
It should be
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers
Windows Drive Letter is the drive in which windows is
installed into. Generally it is 'C' (without quotes)
Anyway, I dont think there is support for Czech version of
Flash to export from Captivate. However you can try this out:
Copy RDMFISTUB9.dll into
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Importers\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4\RDMFISTUB9.dll)
Copy RdJsfl.dll into
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\External Libraries\
(Ex path for dll: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4\RdJsfl.dll)
Copy AdobeCaptivate Folder inside ActionScript Folder into
For XP:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Documents and Settings\<user
directory>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
For Vista:
<Windows Drive Letter>:\Users\<user
directory>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash
CS3\<language>\Configuration\Classes\
(Ex path for folder: For XP, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4\ActionScript\AdobeCaptivate)
You can get RDMFISTUB9.dll, RdJsfl.dll in Adobe Captivate 4
installed directory
(Generally this should be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate 4)
Now try to import a cp file into captivate.

Flash CS3 hanging & Not responding
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with trying to import an .ai (CS3) file
with strokes to Flash CS3.
Whenever I try and import a complex (730 shapes) .ai file
with strokes, Flash just hangs and becomes unresponsive. I can
however import the same complex .ai file without strokes defined.
I can also import less complex (7 shapes) .ai files with
strokes defined.
Has anyone experienced similar issues and found a fix?
Many thanks, Rich

Hi,

Flash CS3 and now the Application freezes at the Homepage.
cheersHi, I know this is a few months after this post but I am
having this very same problem. I have a single user on my pc which
is an administrator account and I ma having the same issue, an
empty dialogue box opens and promptly closes. I have created a
further admin user and the dialogue box appears and this time
installs. On completion I am informed that the main program has
failed to install. Flash video encoder is installed but won't run.
I get a prompt to re-install as there is a problem.
I am running windows Vista Business edition but am a home

Does anyone else have any ideas to why this won't install?

Flash CS3 swf viewing @ hyper-speed on IE
Hello-
I have created a slide show from the Flash CS3 template...
inserted in a DW CS3 document. Views/Tests GREAT except from IE...
I'm thinking there must be a special "IE" code... but cannot find
documentation. What's also interesting, I also created a Flash
slide show from a version 6 Flash and inserted in the MX DW...
works like a charm... hmmm???
The examples are found:
http://www.bonanzapress.com/chipsproducts.html
(hyper-speed in IE)
http://www.islandsanctuaryproperties.com/photos.html
(created with the older version of Flash)
THANKS in advance!!
KrysWhat version of IE? I would actually strongly discourage
coding anything for IE. It has always been broken. Did you know
that to display PNG graphics properly, you need to enable Active-X
controls? Probably the same thing with Flash. For that reason, I
suggest adding a line to your website that can only be viewed by IE
users that says "Please visit this site using any 32-bit web
browser other than Internet Explorer. Adobe just doesn't have
anyone that is able to compile a 64-bit browser at this time, and
does not support those who know what they are doing. Thank
you." -
Flash cs3 trial not validating
Hello all,
MX4 licensee here trying to install flash cs3.
tried on two separate partitions on the same machine...same
result......a message saying that there is a problem loading the
trial version...and I cannot get past that to even open the
program.
my workstation has no known issues......
what, please, do I need to do?
thanks.yes, thanks...I did.
I see now that this problem has been around since 2007...many
users registering this complaint.
I cannot see buying hundreds of dollars worth of upgrades if
I cannot even get the trial version to load......would like to and
am inclined to...but not this way.....
any other thoughts?

Flash 8 SWF not showing up online
Hi all,
I have a flash SWF file that I embedded in an HTML page
through Dreamweaver. When I upload it to my site, it doesn't show
up. All I get is a dotted line box around where the file is suppose
to be. I isolated that earlier flash version work seemlessly but
this is Flash 8 with a skin.
When I test from Dreamweaver or publish a HTML page from
Flash, it works perfectly.
Anyone run into thisproblem yet? Any clues would be greatly
appreciated.
Thanks
TimSorry.
I created the SWF file in Flash 8 using the FLVplayback
component. Then in Dreamweaver imported the SWF file like I have
done many times before. I uploaded the SWF, Skin.SWF, and the html
file to the server and when I go to the page the flash file does
not show up. Just a dotted box when my mouse is over the area.
here's the link.

Encore CS4 export to Flash, link highlights not correct
Hi,
I'm building a DVD project in Encore CS4.
I have many of the links set to highlight a specific menu item upon returning to a given menu.
For example, the default button on the Main Menu is "Section 1"
However, if the user clicks on one of the "extras" listed on that main menu, "about us" for example, then when they return to the Main Menu, I want the "about us" link highlighted, indicating that's where they just came from. (instead of highlighting the default "Section 1" button)
When I test the project in Encore or burn a DVD to test it the links work/highlight as expected.
When I export to Flash and run it in the browser, the default buttons are only ever highlighted upon landing on a menu, instead of the particular ones I've specified when coming from various parts of the disc.
Is this just a limitation of the Flash export?
To specify what item I want highlighted I'm simply using the drop down menu next to the "Link:" item in the Properties panel...
I select the menu I want to link to, then from the flyout, I select one of the available buttons so it'll be the one highlighted. Is this the correct process?
Thanks. That is the correct process, and this could very well be a limitation of the flash export. Some of the features of encore only work with DVD projects and not with Flash or Blu-ray, although this particular feature does work with Blu-ray.
