Export to flash swf from Slide Show module

If I work on a stunning slide show, with music et al, It would be perfect if I can export to a swf file and put it on a web site or left to clients on a CD.
Otherwise, as is now, I have to work twice: create a slide show and then a web flash site...

There is nothing you are doingt wrong, the web people need to check their Flash stuff, most importantly realyl include al lthe files you provide them with. there's a reason why it spits out 4 files...

If you mean you made a VCD, those always look hateful. That's just what VCD is like. If you have a DVD burner export your slideshow as a wmv file and use whatever software came with your burner to make a video dvd instead.

Yes. If you're using iDVD export the slideshow out of iPhoto at 480p size and drag it into an open iDVD menu window, being careful to avoid any drop zones. iDVD can handle up to 120 minutes of playing time (movies plus menus) on a single layer DVD disk.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

If the DVD is to play on a DVD Player, then Share -> Send to iDVD as iDVD is the only app that creates the correct file structure and format for this purpose.
If the DVD is just to hold the file, then Export to the desktop and burn with the Finder.

Exporting to flash/swf, losing drop shadow?

Hi guys, when I add drop shadow to 2d text in AE it looks fine in the RAM preview, but when I export to a SWF object its gone. I tried both the effect and layer style versions of drop shadow.. not really sure what the difference is anyways. Any ideas? Googled a bunch and couldn't find an answer.

We usually need to ask for clarification: how do you know the drop shadow really isn't there? If you're looking at a sample of the clip over black, it might be invisible. But Rick's usually got these things nailed. Drop shaodws from text require AE to create rasterized frames and that will change the processing of the output. As Rick says, it will be much larger because it will be a pixel-based movie of images rather than instructions for vectors.

Resizing output when exporting to Flash/SWF

Does anyone know if there is a way to resize the output when exporting a Keynote presentation to Flash/SWF? When you export to QuickTime, you can adjust the output size. I can't find a way to do that when exporting to Flash.

I think that's because the Flash output displays at whatever size you want when you embed it into a website. For example, you can't create a Keynote presentation smaller than 200x200. BUT, if you create at 200x200 and then, in your embed statement, change it to 100x100, then that's how it will display on your web page.

Flash swf from Flash CS4 not functioning in Director

I am building an app in Shockwave and am using a Flash swf as the navigation bar to change screens etc. I created the initial swf in Flash MX 2004 published for Flash 6.0 and Actionscript 2.0. This worked fine. I then needed to add some more screens and since I now have Flash CS4 Pro I decide to use this to make the changes published for Flash 6.0 and Actionscript 2.0. I created the changes, tested the movie, everything runs fine in Flash The published swf works fine when executes from the desktop. When I import into Director, the swf does not function. Is there some step that I am missing?

Well nothing is working, no rollover buttons , no changing screens, nada.
The Code worked when published with Flash MX 2004. I brought the file into
Flash CS4 Pro, made my additions, published. Tested the swf alone. But when
I import into Director MX version 9.0 it is not functioning.

That did it. The number does not appear no matter how long I hold the mouse down, but once I move the song, the number pops up. It's always "1" by the way, but it now works--that's all I care about.

Help with audio from slide show

Used Photoshop Elements 8.0 to create slide show. After adding audio, reviewed show several times with no issue. Then, began having issue of show playing and audio to start with, then audio cuts out and slide show continues. Went ahead and exported to Premiere Elements 8.0 and audio played all the way through in review. Exported to DVD. Plays fine on DVD players, but when I attempt to play on computer, in Windows Media Player, audio( music) plays for a while then cuts out. If I stop and close player, and then open again show picks up where left off, and appropriate music plays, but only for awhile and then cuts out. Am making several copies of this DVD for others to play. Some will use DVD player, some will use computer. Dont' understand. Need help.

Have you tried to play the DVD on a different computer to see if it's your computer or the DVD?
The fact it plays fine on your DVD player makes me think it might be something wrong with your computer.

Import photos from slide show cd

I have a cd slide show that was given to me that was created with lightroom. How do I import the pictures to lightroom3? When I try to import it shows no photos because they are embeded in the slide show application.

What format is the slidshow in?
If it is a pdf, then you can open it in PS (as long as it hasn't been security protected) and extract each image as a individual file.
If it is in a video format, you will need to open it in a video editor and create stills from each image.

Pop up from slide show

I am trying make a larger image pop up on clicking a slide in a slide show. Basically I'll end up with 3 sizes, a thumbnail which triggers the larger slide and then an even larger image that is accessed by clicking on the slide.

Interestingly, the effect I am trying to achieve is essentially the same thing that happens in this forum. When you click on the attached photo; a window with a close button opens a larger image. There must be a fairly easy way to do this. I have tried with tool tips but cannont get the trigger to not hide the slide I want people to click on.

There is a way you can build this in Muse.
Create two compositon widgets. A) a blank compositon widget, B) a lightbox widget (see Figure 1)
The Blank Compostion trigger will be the smallest image (highlighted in red)
The Hero for the Blank Compostion will just be a white fill (I have a keyline around it for viewing purposes)
The LightBox trigger will have the mid-sized image (highlighted in red) Note: make sure you are on the "Normal" in the "States" section when applying the image.
The LightBox hero will have the largest image (highlighted in red)
Place the LightBox trigger image over to the Blank Compostion Hero image box.
The box outline will turn blue confirming that it is placed into the Hero Image box. (See Figure 2)
When viewed in a browser the Trigger for the blank and LightBox will be visable, when you mark the medium image the large image will appear.

Export FLV or SWF from FCP Studio 2?

I had FCP 5 and was able to export using > Quicktime Conversion> Macromedia FLV or Macromedia SWF.
For some reason, I can't do it anymore, since the options have disappeared. Any ideas on where I can find the plug-ins needed or updates?

I bought OnFlix Exporter to do this. Flash is proprietary to Macromedia, so I'm pretty sure you need to pay to add this capability to Final Cut Pro.
A very cheap program that will make Flash movies for you, without tying up your Final Cut system to do converstions, is Mediahub.
