Export to .mp4 format?

I am using Premiere Elements 9 and I am wondering how to export my video to .mp4 format without losing the resolution? (I don't mean .mpg)
According to: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/862/cpsid_86248.html, I should be able to but no luck here.
Thanks in advance!

Export/Share to MP4 will use the H.264 CODEC, so there will be compression, and a decrease in quality.
To Share to MP4, you will use the QuickTime Preset, and then set the Compression to H.264.
The compression will be fair, and the quality quite good, or a compressed CODEC. H.264 is one of the better highly-compressed CODEC's available today.
Now, what is your Source Footage, and also your intended use for the Exported/Shared file?
There might be better alternatives, but your delivery will dictate if they are viable.
Good luck,
Hunt

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.

Is the problem limited to a specific file that you're exporting?

  • Choosing 'Export', I confront 'Error 108' message. Exporting  with file format mp4, etc doesnot work.

Choosing 'Export'  in file menu, QuickTIme pro (v.7.7.4) ,   I confront 'Error 108' message   with WIndows 7.
    Namely
Error-108 : an unknown error occurred.
As a results  Exporting  with file format mp4, etc doesnot work. (windows 7. Quick time player v.7.7.4)
What are the reason? How do I operate this ?
    Thank you.

boom! that advice was correct and worked. i was able to export the full project as a quicktime movie and it can be uploaded to youtube.
NOTE, theres is definately quite a few noticeable audio glitches/lags/pops that werent there before doing this. I believe, and will test to make sure, that having a project such as this one needs to render before exporting. I'm not sure if the advice requires the project to be unrendered before exporting for a specific reason, because if it will export fine after rendering the project that's the way to go. like i said the edited version i have in my timeline plays back perfectly but this exported version has quite a few noticeable audio glitches (a few video glitches too). I'm going to retry doing the first few steps of your advice, but then at the end render, then export and compare the results...
OK, so this leads to a big question, Is this something that is standard for everyone when trying to export? If its not, what causes this error?
is there any way of preemptively avoiding it in future projects?
thanks again, and hopefully this information will help others as exporting seem to be one of the biggest problems in fcpx. any word on a new patch or firmware update?

  • How do I move just a single clip in the project file and then convert that into an Mp4 format?

    Dear Assistance,
I have a project file open.
At the bottom  of the screen there is a horizontal film strip of images.  I have cut the images into certain segments.
I want to select one single segment (about 1 min long) and convert only that selected segment into a mp4 format?
Kindly inform me how the best way to go about doing that is.
    Thank you,
    Ben

In the sequence you will see the time code and a bar in line with it.
At the end of all your edited clips in the sequence you will find that the bar ends, this bar defines the work area.
Drag each end of the work area bar so it covers only the clip you want to export.
The select the exporter and select the preset you want and before you start the export where it says whole sequence change this to work area
Then change the default name and location to whatever you want and start the export, job done

  • I have built a slideshow in iPhoto -- I need/want the file in .mp4 format.  How do I do that?

Ok, I don't know why I am here, but!
I have built a slideshow in iPhoto -- I need/want the file in .mp4 format.  How do I do that?
The question may have been answered somewhere but I was sent here -- so her I am.
Still I think I need my slideshow in .MP4 format to play on windows/smartTVs and the .m4v file that export offers seems to be the only option and it fails.
I am using iPhoto v9.5.1 on a Macbook Air.
    help.

Try changing the extension to .m4v and see if that will do the trick.  It did for me on another occasion where it wouldn't play as .MP4.  If it works it's a simple solution.
I compared an .m4v and an .MP4 file in Qujicktime Player via the Winde ➙ Show Movie Inspector menu and both were  the same codec:
    H.264, 1280 × 720, Millions
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 44.100 kHz
Check to see what codec the Movie Inspector window shows.

  • Mp4 format

    Ok here is the issue
I just got an xbox 360 the other day and since i am running Windows Media Center 2005 edition on my PC I am able to hook my xbox up to my PC to do various thing such as listing to music
My first Mp3 player was an ipod so i ended up using itunes to manage my songs instead of windowes media player
I have had no reason to use windows edia player up until now but it turns out that since i have been using itunes my entire life i have no songs in windows media player
I have a library of over 2000 songs in itunes on my pc and all of my songs i obtained through importing cd's through itunes in the unprotected mp4 format
after i imported my cds into itunes i changed all the names of the artists and songs to my liking
but now that i got xbox 360 it only reads music files that are in mp3 format which none of mine are (they are all in unprotected mp4 format because like i said i have been using itunes)
I found a codec for windoes media player that allows it to read unprotected mp4 formated media files
so thinking that every thing was going to work out i directed windowes media player to import all my music folders on my computer into windows media player so far it has all worked out but when i finished importing the folder into windowes media player i saw all the old names of the cd's that i originally imported into itunes, since i changeed the names like i said before in itunes i was hoping that the changed names would change the file to that name too but unfortunately it dident so now i have all the wrong names of the music in windowes media player
what i am asking is that if anyone knows how to get itunes to export all the updated names that i changed in itunes so that then i can import the media file into windowes media player with the nes updated names of the songs and artists
    any help would be appreaciated
    thanks

Besides, Converting a compressed format (mp4) to an uncompressed format (wav) is a complete waste of time that gains nothing.

  • IDVD selectively won't recognize .mp4 format - how to burn for dvd player?

    Hi -
I'm trying to burn a .mp4 movie for my gf's family so they can watch it on their TV instead of my tiny comp. After trying DiskUtility and iTunes (both to no avail, DU wouldn't even allow me to select a .mp4 format to burn on the DVD; iTunes burnt the movie, but it doesn't play on the DVD player ...). I thought I'd try iDVD, but it won't recognize the movie I'd like to burn - says the format is unrecognized. Tried with another movie, same format (.mp4) and it worked just fine.
I'm really at a loss - I didn't expect it would be so difficult to burn a DVD! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Rax

Alright, my results correspond with Russ' hypothesis: both videos I tried are in the same format & at the same FPS, the only difference b/w them is the audio. The one that worked is Stereo (L R), the one that does not is the 5.1.
Unfortunately, I do not have Quick Time Pro, I just have QTP 10.1 that came w/ Lion (& an older version that I added b/c it allows playback speed control). Here, the export options are:
    480p
    720p
    iPod touch & iPhone 3GS
iPad, iPhone 4 & Apple TV
    Audio only
None of these were an obvious choice to me, any suggestions? I've heard something about "Toast", would this be an easier / better option?
Thank you for on-going help. Very much appreicated.
    Kind regards,
    Rax

  • Maintaining quality when exporting to MP4

I'm trying to export my video to MP4, but everything I've tried ends with a drastic loss of quality. Exporting to DV or Sorenson 3 look fine. But exporting to MP4 or H.264 are completely unusable. I've adjusted for higher data rates, more key frames and frame rates...I've selected best quality...I've set it for 640x480 and 320x240...I've tried Compression as well as Conversion and ended with the same results each time. I've also tried to export from Quicktime 7.0 instead of through FCPHD.
I've exported to MP4 with great results before and my software hasn't changed since the last time I exported a project.
    Any suggestions? Thank you.
    Emac 1.25GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Thank you....
I've tried a couple of different ways:
    A.
Select File -> Export -> Quicktime Conversion.
In the Save window, change the format to MPeg-4 and select Options.
In Export Settings, I've changed the File Format to MP4, Video Format to Mpeg-4 Improved and Image Size to 640 x 480 VGA. I've tried different figures for the Data Rate (256, 512, 768) and Frame Rate (29.97, 15, 10).
Last step was to select Save.
    B.
In the Save window, leave the format as QuickTime Movie and select Options.
In the Conversion Settings window, I selected MPeg-4 Video (A few other times I tried this using H.264).
I left the Frame Rate at Current but have also tried 29.97.
Key Frames I left at Every 24 frames.
I increased Quality to Best and Data Rate I've tried changing it to Automatic but have also left it on Restrict to 6400 kbits/sec.
The Optimized selection has been always set as Download.
After Selecting Okay, I've tried setting the size as Current, 640x480 and 320x240.
I've always deselected Prepare for Internet Streaming.
After that, I've selected okay and then Save.
Each time the quality of the video has been very bad. Since the source video comes from a DVD and it looks good when I export to DV or Sorenson 3, there has to be something I'm missing.

  • Videos exported to MP4 or .3GP without sound.

    Good morning.
I have a MacBook Pro with Leopard 10.5.5 installed and the QuickTime Pro with codecs Perian. I could always open FLV and export them to .3GP or .MP4 but from a few days ago the videos are exported without sound. However, when exporting to other formats such as iPhone or the AppleTV videos are displayed without problems.
    Why before exported without problems?
Can be due to the last update of QuickTime?
    Thanks.
    PD.:Sorry for my English.

I don't know , but an .swf will open in After Effects. If you create a new composition with the .swf you can export it to any file type that you'd like.

  • Converting Mp4 format to iPod(m4v)

I initially posted this in the wrong Forum, Here's my issue...
I purchased the QuicktimePro Registration key for Windows(XP), to convert movies(mp4) format to Ipod(30gb).
QuicktimePro DOES NOT convert mpeg-4 to Ipod format, m4v or mov?
I followed the xact instruction in the manual, followed one of the QT-Tech Support, he even gave me a supporting/reading materials related to my inquiry, I have 2 co-workers behind my shoulders who tried to help but no luck.
My OS is XP, Quicktime plays all my movies(mp4)format without a problem, but when it comes to exporting, (Movie to iPod 320X240)the exported movie is successful but still in mp4 format, instead of m4v I believe.
I spent for something that I did not enjoy. A very useless feature.

How nice of you, thanks Kyn...
Yes, you are right, Videora works and it's FREE, actually there's a lot in the market but my point is, A lot of us bought this QT 7 Pro, and ended with a lot of questions?
I feel sorry for the beginners who really love iPod and found frustration when it comes to conversion.
Quicktime 7 Pro is perfect to convert Movie to iPod only if you have:
PC with Mac OS, iMovie HD (iMovie HD is only for MAC)
So forget Quicktime 7 Pro if you have Windows no matter what version.
    my 2cents...
Actually I found the most perfect ways how to watch the best movie to my iPod 5thgen, right after I found out that this QT 7 Pro doesn't work. I tell you watching movie in iPod is so wonderful, a crisp movie in the palm of your hand.
I Posted my issue in the Forum, right after I spoke with Their QTime without any good answer to my question. The Guy directed me to this Discussion, thinking that I can get the solution, apparently not.
So by posting this issue is also to CHALLENGE any of the Quicktime Support. Just hoping that anyone from Quicktime will come forward with their best effort to help our fellow iPod users.

  • H.264 (MP4) format

The website smugmug converts movies to  h.264 (MP4) format when you upload them.
Does Premiere handle that type of file well

Premiere has no trouble converting to mp4, it has several ready made presets for mp4 e.g for YouTube.
Just look up the supported export formats in the Help.
