Export to pdf will open different location

I work with several hundred templates a day in my job some of which were created internally and others by clients. These templates are saved as a document in a specific folder I have on a network drive once they've been altered with clients information. Once approved by our client I export to pdf to print however instead of it asking to save in the folder I've been working in all along it takes me to the desktop. I then have to navigate a long navigation tree to get back to the folder where I would like to save. I have tried shortcuts on the desktop however I still have several folders I have to navigate through to get to my destination folder. This process can be repeated many times throughout the day and has become a bit of a time killer. I see no rhyme or reason to why some files will be trying to export to my desktop and others behave normally (saving to my destination folder). Any insight to what may be going on would be appreciated.

Checked in XI there is not a setting, in previous version you could go into preference and set a predetermined location.
Now the first time you save a Document you browse to desired location and as long as the file isn't moved when you open Acrobat and choose file to open it automatically has remembered  the location is saved.
Choose Save ... PDF
then browser to desired location.
Acrobat will remember it until its moved or drops off the Open Recent list.
Sorry to send everyone on a wild goose chase.

  • Why am I asked to locate Adobe Reader before a pdf will open?

    Not so long ago, I could click on a link in Safari that was for a pdf and it would open in the browser. Now, every time, I'm told "AdobePDFViewer can't find a version of Adobe Reader" (or words to that effect), and I have to navigate to Adobe Reader 9 in Applications before it will open. How do I get Safari to open pdf's automatically like it used  to do?

    Hi Hack
    That folder is empty in my home folder. However, that plug-in does exist at the top level Library. Is that the one I should drag out?
    Carolyn, I have no idea what your comment means.

  • Excel file save as PDF goes to different locations on OneDrive

    Good Afternon,
    I'm trying to find any help referring to Excel 2013 and OneDrive. I've got application which creating kind of report and then saving it as PDF to OneDrive location. The problem
    is that application is dropping copy of PDF file to default location (see code below) but also sometimes you can find same copy in different random folders on L: drive. I'm sure there is no other code which making copy to those locations. I was wandering if
    it could be a problem with connection to a server? Your help will be much appreciated. Regards
    ActiveSheet.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:= _
        "L:\WW\Business Development\ARC South\Official's Report Templates\" & ActiveSheet.Range("GL42").Value & ".pdf" _
       , Quality:=xlQualityStandard, IncludeDocProperties:=True, IgnorePrintAreas _
       :=False, OpenAfterPublish:=False

    Thanks a lot for reply, I've got copies of those reports in
    Official's Report Templates subfolder, but for some reason macro is dropping another copy (not always) into different location e.g. somewhere in ARC South,
    outside of "Official's Report Templates" subfolder. Value in GL42 is only part of the name of the file and contains name of employee. That part seems to be fine, especially that macro is attaching that file to email from the same location (Official's
    Report Templates) later. No idea where could be a problem.

  • Reporting Services Auto Export to PDF on a shared location with dynamic filename

    Hi Guys,
    I have this ERP system that is calling a url with the Document No parameter, the link automatically converts to a PDF but comes up with the OPEN/SAVE/CANCEL box however i want to automatically save to a default location...is this possible?
    Secondly i need the filename to be saved as the Paramter Name and the date.pdf in the format DocumentNo- Datetime.pdf is this also possible?
    Thank you in Advance

    Hi Dan,
    According to your description, you want to export a report to PDF using URL access. And trying to export the report with specify name automatically without prompting the OPEN/SAVE/CANCEL box. The file name should come from the parameters of the report.
    For security reasons, it is not allowed to write files on a client computer (Shared folder), except for a few pieces of information in cookies.
    While using URL access to export a report, the exporting process will save the file with the report’s name automatically.
    In order to export the report to a specify folder with a specify name, we can send a request to the Report Server in custom application, and then receive the data from the Report Server. In the custom application, save the data to the specify folder with the specify name in server side.
    Please follow these steps to archive the target:
    1.       Create a C# Web application.
    2.       In the page_load event of a page, embed the following code:
    string URL = "http://localhost/Reportserver?/AdventureWorks Sample Reports/Employee Sales Summary";
                string Command = "Render";
                string Format = "PDF";
                //We can get values of these parameters from Request object.
                string paramReportMonth = "12";
                string paramReportYear = "2003";
                string paramEmpID = "288";
                URL = URL + "&rs:Command=" + Command + "&rs:Format=" + Format + "&ReportMonth=" + paramReportMonth + "&ReportYear=" + paramReportYear +"&EmpID=" + paramEmpID;
                System.Net.HttpWebRequest Req = (System.Net.HttpWebRequest) System.Net.WebRequest.Create(URL);
                Req.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials;
                Req.Method = "GET";
                //Specify the path for saving.
                string path = @"C:\" + paramEmpID + "-" + paramReportYear + "-" + paramReportMonth + @".pdf";
                System.Net.WebResponse objResponse = Req.GetResponse();
                System.IO.FileStream fs = new System.IO.FileStream(path, System.IO.FileMode.Create);
                System.IO.Stream stream = objResponse.GetResponseStream();
                byte[] buf = new byte[1024];
                int len = stream.Read(buf, 0, 1024);
                while (len > 0)
                    fs.Write(buf, 0, len);
                    len = stream.Read(buf, 0, 1024);
                stream.Close();
                fs.Close();
    3.       Use the URL of the above page with parameters to export a report to the specify folder with specify filename.
    E.g. http://<server>/custom application/export.aspx?parameterReportYear=2003&parametermonth=12&EmpId=288
    Of course, we can pass other parameters with the URL such as Format.
    Please feel free to ask, if you have any more questions.
    Thanks,
    Jin Chen

  • Pdf hyperlinks opening different windows

    All -
    Creating a pdf with about 10 hyperlinks to various web pages, however I do NOT want each link to open a new browser window or tab, I've tried target="_self" however this doesn't seem to help either.
    Any clues or suggestions to get all the links to only open within the same window?
    Thanx,
    Greg

    You know whats crazy. . . I was wondering the same thing today. I'd like to say I've done it before, and I think i have, and I think it was just as easy as clicking on it, but I haven't done it in a while so I can't be 100 percent sure.
    Thought - are you opening the Matrix windows as floating windows? Because if you are, that will keep you from opening multiple ones.

  • .pdf will open in Reader, but not Adobe Acrobat 8.0

    I have a large document that was created in Adobe Acrobat 6.0 and apparently the file was damaged (it's also 4.5 GB). I can open it in Adobe Reader 9, but when I try to open it in Acrobat, it shuts the program down and there is no history of it being opened. I've tried opening it back up in Acrobat 6.0, but it says the file is damaged. Is there a way to fix this or do I have to remake the document?

    I do not know how you created the PDF. You might try going back and printing to the Adobe PDF printer. Open AA6 and then select the file that way. Does this work?

    what?

  • Does my pdf file will open in an iphone/ipad?

    Hi there.
    I'm having a huge problem with pdf.
    I have this file I created with acrobat and I have to send it to someone else. The problem is that they told me "please, make sure your pdf will open in a iphone or ipad without fail."
    How do I know if it's ocmpatible? I own a windows computer and I don't have an ipad or an iphone.
    thank you!

    If it's a plain "vanilla" PDF (ie without any form fields, multimedia
    elements, scripts, etc.) there should be no problem to open and view it on
    an iPad/iPhone (provided there's an app installed that can open it, of
    course).

  • Color changes when exporting to PDF from Apple Pages or Word

    When I export to PDF from Apple Pages or Microsoft Word, there is a noticable color shift.
    The RGB color values that are 23, 76, 140 in Pages for a medium shade of blue like this but appear as 50, 61, 134 with a decidedly purple cast like this in the PDF.
    Has anybody else run into this problem?  Any tips for troubleshooting?

    Thanks for the reply.  It was created using Apple Pages. I tried exporting to PDF in two different ways, both with the same result.
    1. Within Apple Pages, one can click File > Export > PDF
    2. The other option is to click Print > PDF > Save as PDF
    I also tried this second method with Microsoft Word, and again the color was altered.  Any suggestions that you can provide to resolve this issue will be very helpful.

  • Color inconsistencies when exporting to PDF

    I've created a file in which I am using a master page with a graphic inside a frame; this appears on every page of my document. however, when I export it to pdf (interactive or print), the graphic changes color on two pages - it becomes lighter:
    (correct color on the left)
    there are no text boxes or other frames on top of this graphic, though there is text and other images placed on the page. As a test, I deleted an image (while leaving another image, as well as text) from one of the pages this is occuring on, and when I exported it, it went back to normal. So, I placed a new frame, re-inserted graphic, and I'm back to the same problem again.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance -

  • Why is exporting to PDF not working?

    Why is exporting to PDF not working?

    Dear Claudio,
    I know it wasn't much to go on but I got your attention!
    I work for a charity and use a program called "Donor Perfect".
    It has a feature that when you generate a report it gives you the option to export to MSWord, Excel, and PDF.
    Below is the step by step description of what happens.
     After log on ......
         1. Click on Reports
         2. Listings
         3. Report Category(any)
         4. Select Record type(any)
         5. Select report options (any selection filter that fits or Build a filter) and sort order(any)
         6. Enter title (accordingly)
         7. Click on Preview
         8. When next screen opens with report visible - in "Report Print preview" line above report choose PDF icon
         9. Export to PDF window opens
         10. click on Page range-ALL
         11. What to print-All pages in Range
         12. Save as C:\DPW32\dpsumm.pdf
         13. collate
         14. number of copies(1)
         15. Click on "Screen"
         16. Click on "Display Conversion Status"
         17. Then "OK"
         18. After conversion status reaches "100%" nothing happens -screen does not change!
    Then I minimize DP screen and I go to Start menu
         1. Click on Start
         2. Then "My Computer"
         3. Local Disk "C"
         4. Dpw32
         5. Look for "dpsumm" file with today's date
         6. Size of file says 0 KB and that's it!!!!
    In previous versions of DP (8 and 9)
    the PDF would open on the screen as soon as the Step 18 was finished, then I could save it with an identifying name to a different folder and use it as an attachment that a Donor could receive by e-mail.
    I hope I can get back to that because now I have to convert to "Word" (Which takes a long time)then from that I have to create PDF from Acrobat. too many steps ..... if I have 20-30 reports it's too cumbersome.
    Waiting for your suggestions,

  • Forcing link in one web based PDF to open link to another PDF in new browser window

    We have created a form using LiveCycle Designer ES2.  The form is found on our website and is used by faculty to submit proposal information to our office.  Depending upon the answers to questions in the form if they say yes we had a link to another form that we would like them to complete and submit with the original PDF that they are working on.  The problem that we are having is that when they click on the form it opens the new PDF and all the data that they had entered in the original PDF is gone once the new form opens up.  Is there a way to force the new PDF via the use of some scripting that can go along with the link, or via the use of a button that can force the new form to open in a new browser window?  It is impractical for us to expect 1500 faculty members to change their browser settings to open new PDF's in a new window.  We have removed the links for now and have just put in text that says if they select yes they need to go out and complete the additional form.
    The form we are using can be found here: http://spo.usu.edu/files/uploads/SP-01.pdf
    The first three questions on page two where we reference the other forms is where we would like to be able to add the links to the new forms and have them open in a new browser window.  When the form is downloaded and opened in Adobe Acrobat/Reader the links functioned correctly, it just did not function properly when it opens in a browser.
    Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer in regards to this issue.

    I used a button, removed the border/fill properties and underlined the caption to look like a URL.
    The click event is...
    // form1.page1.subform1.urlBtn::click - (JavaScript, client)
    app.launchURL("http://spo.usu.edu/files/uploads/SP-01.pdf",true);
    The PDF will open in a new window or tab, depending upon the browser configuration.

  • Colors are printing incorrectly when exported to PDF but print fine from InDeisgn and Photoshop

    Documents I create in Photoshop and InDesign and export to PDF print in different/wrong colors. The colors are fine when printed directly from Photoshop or InDesign, they look correct when viewing the PDF, but change when printed from the PDF (specifically blues print as purple). How do I fix this?

    This really sounds like a color management issue.
    How are you creating the PDF files from InDesign or Photoshop? We recommend using the PDF/X-4 settings for proper printing from Acrobat or any direct PDF RIP/printer.
    Also would like to know what type of printer you are printing to.

  • Photoshop PDF wont open in Reader at Service Bureaus

    I have rasterized 6 illustrator files in Photoshop and saved as PDFs. They display fine on 3 computers at home in Reader. But when i go to kinkos or Alpha Graphics a blank page appears with an error message about a drawing problem when opened in Reader. However the photoshop pdfs will open in photoshop at the service bureaus, but not in Reader. i went home and carefully converted and saved AI files as Photoshop PSD and took care to put them on flash drive correctly and eject usb volume the right way. I have never had this problem before and service bureau employees were stumped. they figured just resaving, renaming and being carefull with flash drive would solve problem, but no.

    same problem with 10.1.6 and it seems more to do with links with % in the url ... first time no problem, sencond time it can not find the page for some reason or a popup occours saying that i need to close Acrobat Reader if it is still opened somewhere.

    Make sure you have the latest Adobe Reader installed for your OS.

    Did you try using Preview. If you control click on the PDF on your desktop you can use the "open with" option.
