How can i export a UIComponent (like DataGrid, Panel etc) to PPT as a image.

During presentations, Keynote slides are small. If exported to ppt, some photos are missing.

During slideshow presentations, if I use Keynote the slides are small. If Keynote is exported to ppt, numerous photos, slides are missing. Can i embed photos in Keynote - would that resolve when exporting?

I haven't seen this, but I don't do a lot of video exporting. My first guess would be that the files may be larger than the prior files... attempting to play at a higher bitrate and the PC is choking on them. Can you compare against a prior exported .mp4 file to determine if the bit rate is any different? Also, make sure that VLC hasn't been updated either.

Exported in ppt doesn't work

I'm preparing some slides for a presentation. obviously I'm preparing them with Keynote, but I must play them on a pc, with PowerPoint 2007.
When I export my key file in ppt ones i have no (evident) problem, but when I try to open file with PP2007, I don't receive any error, but the slides are not showed. Why?
How can I understand where is the problem?

Same issue for me.
But just if I am creating a slideset starting from an existing ppt file.
If I create a slideset from keynotes from scratch and then export to ppt, some effect or timing is lost but the ppt is still fine in PowerPoint 2007.
That's annoying as if I have to simply change some bit to a ppt prepared in PowerPoint, when I then export it it's not readable!

Export to PPT (Simple Pres)?

Hi all,
I have had a quick look/search and it seems Keynote has issues exporting to PPT. What about if you know the constraints? If you do not use animation and transitions etc. Just nicely designed still slides, will that go over to PPT ok? I would just test but am not at a Mac with iWork 09 right now and am trying to plan my weekend!
I would like to use Keynote 09 this weekend to make a presentation for next week but won’t even bother trying if you really can't export to PPT...

Exporting to PPT does work but does not always translate the way you think it would. I made a presentation in Keynote and exported it to PPT with bad results. The style I chose had Palitino fonts is all caps. When the conversion took place, some line had the first character of the first word capitalized the rest lower case. Don't use embeded movies or trasitions. A lot of corrections are needed after exporting to PPT. It's not worth the double effort.
Although Keynote is a superior product, MS has not taken the challenge on to improve their product to accept the export. Be carfull testing on the MAC version of PPT without testing on a PC running PPT. The PPT versions are different running on a MAC and PC. MS has a more advanced version running on a MAC. Even testing on a virtual version of XP on a MAC does not substitute runing the test presentation on a PC. Because the virtual version uses a layered PC simulation certain delays may exist and cause the presentation to run like on the MAC. Don't trust the test. Again test the final on a PC before ending up with a presentation that does not perform like you intended it to.

Issue One:
I have used a series of gauges and linked them to data in an embedded excel file. When i look at the preview the gauges are all registered at the miniumum possible, as if there was no data. If i hard code the data it works fine. My reports need to update monthly, weekly, and daily, so I don't want to hardcode all this information.
Issue Two:
When I export to Power Point I get a slide with a blank box as its only data. The box is just as if I had used forms to create a white box with an outline. (I already searched the forum and saving as ppt isn't doing the trick)

Hi,
There were couple of bugs with SP1 and Fix packs which were fixed in recent fix packs and service packs( i.e. SP2).
I am not sure which data connection you are using. It's not a bad idea to move to the latest patch. There were some issues with canvas going blank or some components not behaving correctly which was fixed in FP3 and SP2.
Please provide more detail on your 1st issue and it would help me to help you better.

URL button doesn't work after export into ppt/word/pdf

Hi,
I am working in Xcelsius.
Lets say I have placed a URL button in the Canvas and mapped that to a path of the file(which is not actualy an URL),but any path of the file which is present in the local system
After exporting this dashboard into ppt(or word/pdf),when i click the button,its not redirecting me to a target.
But during Preview of dashboard,it works fine.But after exporting,the URL button not redirects me to the path specified.

Xcelsius won't export to PPT or DOC

-Issue Description: Won't export to powerpoint or word, but will export to PDF. When exporting to powerpoint, Xcelsius say's it is generating an SWF. It will then open powerpoint with a new presentation that only has a box with a X through it. Otherwise the presentation appears to have no content. selecting presentation mode does not help.
A similar thing happens when exporting to word, but after the "generating SWF" dialog box goes away, nothing happens, word does not open, and I can not find a new word file.
However, I can successfully export to PDF and the flash works.
-Steps to Duplicate:
1. create content in xcelsius
2. select file/export/powerpoint or file/export/word
3. enter file name for PPT or DOC file
4. save or enter to close dialog box

This is a totally upatched version and I suggest that you upgrade to the current SP2 (Service Patch 2) level

How to retain AVIs while exporting to PPT?

I've exported a Keynote presentation to MS Powerpoint. I used avi videos inside the Keynote but when I'm viewing the PPT folder that is created, the files inside are all .mov. How do I retain the embedded avi files while exporting so that Windows MS will play it?

Another option is to have a one WEBI document with two tabs:
- Develop 'Report 1' where Block1 contains grid containing 15 columns;
- Duplicate 'Report 1' and rename the tab as desired but for in this example let's assume name of the second tab is 'Report 2'
- Delete columns that you do not want to display in Excel from 'Report 2'
Both tabs render data from the same data source therefore performance impact will be minimal for having two report tabs.
To export 8 columns into Excel - switch to tab 'Report 8' and use 'Export Current Report As'.
In case you need to schedule this report and send it out as an Email attachment - create a Publication and it will allow to Email user one tab out of WEBI report that contains two tabs. If you schedule WEBI report by itself BO will always export entire document and in this case - it will include both tabs. One with 15 columns and second with 8 columns

Dashboar with Custom Component Export to PPT

Hello All
any known issues exporting Xcelsius dashboard with custom component to PPT or PDF?
i have a dashboard with a tree custom component , it works really fine and good into the review
but when i exported to PDF or PPT it doesnt work at all
when i go back and remove the custom component and i export, it works fine in PPT
any clue?

Export complete PPT without extras folder

I need to make presentations that can be played by a Windows computer and the user (my boss) does not want to deal with the extra folder for media (PPT_media). Since he gets complete, single PPT documents from Windows users, he wants the same from me. Without buying Office for Mac, how can I get Keynote to export a presentation that includes Flash videos and MP3 embedded in the slides and end up with a correct, single PPT file that will play correctly with sounds and videos embedded? After all, if this can only be done by buying Office, why do I have iWork? Keynote must have the ability to export a fully embedded presentation without all those extra, separate files, right?

I have implemented your suggestions but Xcelsius still does not generate the AIR file. Specifically the steps I took were as follows:
1) Version 3.0 of the Flex SDK was the version installed on my computer. I installed the latest version, 3.1 and made sure the file path to the root directory of the SDK was specified in the sdkPath.dat file;
2) I uninstalled Java and reinstalled the latest version 1.6.0_07-b06;
3) I uninstalled Adobe AIR 1.0 and installed the new version, AIR 1.1;
Even after the above steps, the AIR Export function does not generate a ".air" file.
In addition to the Flex SDK 3.1 and Adobe AIR 1.1, is it also necessary to download and install the Adobe AIR SDK ?
You have indicated that the AIR export works fine in your environment. Have you been able to consecutively export AIR files after your initial successful export? And to different folders as well?

Live office based dashboard - issue in Exporting to PPT

We're currently developing dashboards on sap bw queries.
The architecture is SAP BW Query->WEBI 4.0 -> LIve OFfice->Dashboard
Everything is working as expected and we're able to execute dashboards on Infoview.
But, there seems to be some issue when we try to export the dashboard to power point.
We get a strange message "Error #2060".
When we export to pdf , it works as expected.
We have implemented all steps required to make the file/folder Trusted :

If you want to run a model locally, you must add the file location to the trusted locations in the Adobe
Flash Player Settings Manager.
1. To open the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager, go to http://www.macromedia.com/support/doc

3. Select the Always Allow option.

I'm editing ppts in Keynote exporting back to PPTs and loosing "hyperlinks" to movie files

I'm editing ppts in Keynote but have to use them as exported ppts to teach college in a Windows-PC environment

SUBJECT:
Loss of ppt function after opening in keynote then exporting as ppt
Educational ppts (Powerpoints) from Pearson play movies using PowerPoint or Powerpoint Viewer via a button located on some slides if the movies are located in the same folder as the ppt.
If I open such a ppt in keynote and immediately export it as a ppt, the ability to play the movie is lost; the click on the button just advances the slide instead.
Is there a preference in Keynote that might be set differently to prevent this behavior and allow playing of the movie from within the Powerrpoint application.
Note that the size of the file (via Get Info) is exactly the same after exporting the ppt FROM Keynote 5.3

I did just that last night;
Select the graphic object ("Play" Btn").
Open the Powerpoint "tools" floating pallet wd.
Open the "Hyperlink" 'tab'
select 'link to file'
then browse (open finder wd) to find and select the movie file.
Click "Open" and a powerpoint function returns the full path to the file and associates it with the "mouseUp" msg handler within the script of the "Play" Btn, which I expect essentially sends a doubleClick to the movie file ( ie. opens it) and it will then play in a new window from within some other application like Quicktime or Media Player if that other application exists on your computer. (I'm getting a (sandbox?) dialogue window first, telling me, asking me something) that needs to be dealt with. I'm using Powerpoint for Mac and OSX 10.7.5.
(I expect that will not occur using a PC and some version of Windoz in the PC ed conference room environment or using emulated Windoz 7 within the Parallels 8 application on the MacPro, but I have not tried that since I only have the Powerpoint viewer installed in that Windoz 7 system as of the moment.
I've never really used Powerpoint or Keynote until recently because I have used my own presentation application created in Supercard which of course is much more flexible; from the ability to utilze windows of any kind or number on any slide, to all the power of unix via shell scripts and a huge set of functions native to the Supercard suite of stable developement tools.
Any suggestions how best to integrate movies into straight Keynote presentations ?

PPTs exported from Keynote won't open in Powerpoint 12.2.8

When I export a Keynote 09 file as a Powerpoint and then try to open it in Powerpoint 12.2.8 I get the following error message. "There was an error accessing Symbiont:Users:Symbiodin:Desktop:02EpitheliatextA.ppt This happens with all files I export as ppts, not just one. Curiously, the files will open in Powerpoint 12.2.7? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Or better yet, have a solution for it. (-;{

I also had this problem. I found, by trial and error, that an image I had in my master slides caused the issue. When I removed it, exporting to PowerPoint worked correctly.
This image had been there for a long time, and I'm not sure what was wrong with that image. It used to export fine with older versions of Keynote. Or the latest Office update broke it. I'm not sure who is at fault, as I updated both.
Anyway, that might be something to try. Either in the master slides, or one of the slides.

How do I export Keynote file to Powerpoint as ".ppt" rather than ".pps"?

"Cropping" extra white space for PPT export

I plan to embed a visualization within a specific area of "real estate" on a PPT slide - a rectangle for the lower half of the page. I have changed document properties to minimize the size of the canvas from within Xcelsius, so the visualization just fits.
Regardless, when I export to PPT, the visualization comes across with large white borders above and below - essentially consuming a large square area. If it were a photo, I would be able to crop it to address the issue, or I could simply place other PPT objects - headings, borders, etc. on top of the photo. But no luck with the embedded xcelsius visualization.
Any thoughts?
