Export to QT MOV

I am using AE CS4 on a PC.
I want to export my project to a PAL Widescreen size QT MOV file (1024x576px).
The project is 25 minutes long.
When I do this using the default settings in Add to Render Queue, the MOV file it creates is approx 1.5 Gb in size.
This seems WAY too big for a 25 minutes clip.
Where am I going wrong?
What settings should I be using in the Render Queue????

Be sure to answer Rick's question about what you're going to do with this movie.
If you're going to pass it along to an editor in your facility, you want to ensure no quality loss, and a large file is no problem. In such a case, a huge but perfect, losslessy compressed movie is good. From this part of one of your answers, it seems that maybe this is close to what you're trying: "What I need to do is upload the file, so that my composer can download it."
If, on the other had, you're going to put the output directly onto your website, then you want to minimize size, and it doesn't matter so much if the compressor throws out some color differences that are indistinguishable to the human eye.
There is no one correct answer to the question "What are the best settings for output?"  You must first answer the question "What am I doing?"
Near the top of this page is a link to an article by Aharon Rabinowitz that I think that everyone should read.

  • Help me! Audition always failing exports to wav, mov, and Premiere Pro! WHY???

    Hello,
I am sound editing and mixing a picture locked 25 min short film. When done with the mix and ready to  export the mixdown, the export always takes forever (the project is 12GB large total) I mixdown to stereo file wav, but when I open the file, both VLC and Media Player don't play, with WMP saying its corrupt. I bring the same file into Premiere, and it says that it cannot import "because of  a header problem"! What is that? I tried the same with the export to Quicktime (mov) format, and I got the same result. Go up to the window and choose Export to Premiere (you know, directly into Premeire) and it says it it will take 12 hours. I don't remeber cs5.5 taking this long. HELP PLEASE, I need to export this by tonight!!!
    Export settings(both formats):
    Convvert to 48 khz
Convert to 24 bt (32 with mov; only option)
tried both RF64 and Legacy Chunk whatever
Premeire Pro freindly setting on in Preferences
    Windows 7 64 Pro
    INtel Core i7 930
    16GB RAM
    GeForce GTS 250

I don't think a file of that length should exceed 4GB, but be aware that Audition CAN export wave files larger than that due to the RF64 support (vs. 'legacy chunk'), and Premiere can't yet open RF64 giga-wave-files!
Now, other than telling you that this shouldn't be happening, we'll need more information before we can track down what's wrong.  Best thing is to detail for us what your export settings are, precisely.

  • File type for export as quicktime movie

I thought I read here that "Export as Quicktime Movie" produces a .mov file (although without the extension). I'm using Brightcove to host our videos, and their publishpod says it accepts .mov files, but doesn't seem to work with the file from FCE. Is it really a .mov? Or do I need to export using Quicktime Conversion (and burn up lots more time in the process?)

    Thanks...
I did search the forum and nothing addressed my specific issue. Sorry if I didn't phrase my question clearly.
Anyway, I suspect the problem is that the Brightcove software does not work well with the Apple Intermediate Codec. I had no problem with a .mov exported with H.264 compression. This adds extra time to my workflow, but I suspect it will be a necessary evil.

  • I have FCE 4.0.1 and running OS x 10.7.5  when i burn my movie the audio from my movie clips don't come through .  My Sound effects and music can be heard.  I export to Quicktime movie, make it self contained then open IDVD for an intro and burn it.

I have FCE 4.0.1 and running OS x 10.7.5  when i burn my movie the audio from my movie clips don't come through .  My Sound effects and music can be heard.  First I export to Quicktime movie, make it self contained then open IDVD for an intro and burn it.  everything sounds great in preview but then ( once again)I lose my audio from my movie clips.

Try Mixing Down the audio before export.

  • Export Audio to Movie - where is that function in Logic 9?

I have noticed that a very useful function in my Logic Pro 8 (version 8.0.2) options/movie/export audio to movie is not found in the Logic 9 version. One of my friends has this version (and an Intel Mac) but I cannot help him working with music and video - I cannot find it anywhere in the Logic 9 menus. Can you help?
    Best, Peter Danstrup

I just opened a quicktime movie. Added an audio track, and am looking for the option indicated in the manual: "Choose File > Export Audio to Movie". Upstream it's indicated that this option only appears if a movie is present. My movie is present, but still this option does not appear?
    Ideas?

  • Exporting Audio to Movie, doesn;t export the audio

When I try Option>Movie>Export Audio to movie It rendereds but doesn't actully put the music into the video. Worked in 7.1 doesn;t work in 7.2.1 any plans on fixing this?

Indeed, thats what I do, but the time saving and
simiplicity of the 'Export audio to movie..."
function puts it at the top of the 'features that
really should work' for us composers to picture!
Hopefully it will be fixed soon with an update.
It's not broken. To be sure I went and tried it myself
and it worked fine. I did not even have to set the
locators, which I thought I would have to. I just dropped
the movie on a project and went to the menu. It did bring
up some dialog box I had not seen before. Something about
adding the tracks to use. It only showed track 1 but since I
could not figure out how to add the tracks I just hit OK and
it rendered all of them. Hope you get yours back up.

  • Export Slideshow as Movie Above 640x480?

In iPhoto '08, is it possible to export a Slideshow as a Movie with a size larger than 640x480. iPhoto '06 limits you to this 4:3 aspect ratio, and iPod resolution. I was hoping iPhoto '08 might allow you to at least export 16:9 movies at 640x360, or even let you go all the way up to 1280x720 HD resolution.

    Ruben:
Yes you can. Select the Share->Send to iDVD menu option. When the transfer to iDVD is complete close iDVD without saving and go to your Movies folder. Your movie will be there and its size will be 720 x 540 in size.
    Do you Twango?

  • Exporting Audio to Movie

It seems problematic to export music to movie if the film is not placed at bar 1.
Sometimes it works even by using extensively the Beat Mapping. Some other time the music is not synch to the movie.
The solution I found was to bounce the project and lock the result to the SMPTE, then to place the movie at bar 1. I think this is a problem I face only with LP9.
    Am I alone with this?

what format of movie are you scoring to?
    Depending ...
Try iMovieHD or Quick Time Pro (not Quick Time).

  • Keynote does not export Qucktime embedded movies within slides? Won't play

I Have a Quicktime movie within one of my slides and when I export a Quicktime .mov file, that particular slide does not run the quicktime movie within it, just stays on the first frame?
any ideas where I am going wrong?
    Message was edited by: thecount

I think this is a limitation of the export -> quicktime option
Keynote does all sorts of tricks to keep the file sizes small- and one thing really gets butchered are embedded quicktime movies- I have two almost show-stopper frustrations with this:
1- quicktime movies do not loop when exported to quicktime (limitation of sprite track? will look around in live stage pro)
2- all builds and movies must play in entirety before you can click through- this makes being able to skip around very cumbersome especially if using an indexed presentation

  • Export a Flash Movie File

Can you Export Flash Movie files to other formats?? Don see
an Export to other File options.
Would like to Export a Flash Movie or SWF file to a Quicktime
    or IPOD MPEG File.
Anyone know where to do this? Do not see an Export to File
option to that Format on Flash Pro CS.
    Thanks

Without seeing your movie, its difficult to tell where the
problem may be. My first guess is that the data rate is to high.
You will probably need to choke that back in some way: lower the
data rate for the compressor, reduce the frame rate, reduce the
image size, reduce the color depth, etc.
When you select to export to QT, for example, a new window
opens to let you select some basic settings. At the lower right of
that window is a button titled "Quicktime Settings...". Click that
button and a new window will open that will allow you to set the
    compressor, frame rate, quality, etc.

  • Exporting a Captivate Movie into Flash 8

I am trying to export my Captivate movie using Flash Pro 8,
but I keep getting the "message" I can only export if I had Flash

Hi mindtube and welcome to our community
I am inferring from your question that you may think Adobe
employees are monitoring this forum. While we might see one or two
pop in here and there, by and large this is a total "user-to-user"

  • Export 16:9 .move file with FCP

    Hello,
Since May this year I cannot export my FCP 16:9 project to a 16:9 .mov file anymore. The last good one I exported was May 4th, 2009. When I open this QuickTime file with FCP it is widescreen. I exported the same project on May 27th. That .mov file is letterboxed when opening it with FCP.
I never used QuickTime Pro because this program could and can only display my videos letterboxed.
I tried several options to try to export the movie 16:9 (Current Settings, DV PAL 48 kHz Anamorphic).
Someone advised me to use the Cmd-J option in Quicktime, but before May 27th, the export was good and I could use it in iDVD. But since that date it is not possible anymore. When importing the movie directly in iDVD, it is 4:3 format. And after changed it to 1024 with Cmd-J in QuickTime it is halfwidescreen in iDVD (looks like 14:9 i.s.o. 16:9)
How can I get my old good working version of FCP back I had on May, 4th and earlier ?
Or how can I export to QuickTime movie that gives me a 16:9 video again as it was before May 27th ?
    Thanks,
    Hubert

    Hello,
I tried a new 16:9 project. In this new project FCP the video is exported in 16:9 format.
So there must be somewhere a 16:9/4:3 option switch in my old 16:9 project.
Where can this option be set to 16:9 ?
    Thanks,
    Hubert

  • How to export as a movie file

Hello- I am a teacher and make a dvd for my kids with all of their pictures and videos on it at the end of the year. As I was taught in the apple store, I made the video in imovie and then added the music in garageband. Today I started this project, and garageband no longer has "export movie" as a choice, only music choices. Is there any way to still export this as a movie file? I believe it was a quicktime .mov file. Any help would be appreciated.

Today I started this project, and garageband no longer has "export movie" as a choice,
Are you now using GarageBand 10.0?
    Then import the movie,
Track menu > Show Movie Track
File menu > Movie > Open Movie
    Mix the sound track song
Then use the "File" menu > Movie > Export Audio to Movie.
This will write the audio aa an audio track into the imported movie.

  • Weird Thing With Exporting As Quicktime Movie

Ok, so this has been happening for months now, but I didn't really think anything of it until now. Whenever I export a movie as a Quicktime Movie, it exports it as 2 files, the regular movie file, and the same file with "-av1" behind it. The second part has to be there in order for it to play. What's stranger is that when I put them into a folder, the movie no longer plays properly. What is up with this?

I have just experienced the -av1 phenomena for the first time.
I have been exporting to QT movies regularly using the same internal and external drives for months - no changes, no incorrect formatting. I have used those exported movies to create One-Step DVDs in iDVD for display and distribution. This -av1 file thing is keeping me from doing that.
The only diff with this project (and, in fact, it's a new Sequence in a Project that has successfully been exported (without the companion file)) is that this sequence had .aiff music files some of which were from iTunes (downloaded/protected).
I thought that might be the problem, so I created mp3s (by burning to disk and re-importing) and replaced the aiff's in the timeline - it still insisted on creating -av1 files with the QT Movie.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Export to Quicktime Movie and end up with Final Cut document

Exactly this is happening. Yesterday no problem, today I can not export. Using Quicktime Conversion is also hopeless. How do I remedy this? Thanks, and please be simple--I am the Idiot for which the Idiot Books were written...

    "today I can not export"
    What happens when you export?
"Using Quicktime Conversion is also hopeless."
    What happens?
Exporting to either Movie or Conversion produces a QuickTime file. The only difference is that a QuickTime Movie has Final Cut as the creator type. Both can be used in any QuickTime application on any Mac that has the appropriate codec.
