Export  to tape Time code problem

Premiere Elements 3.0
During "Export to Tape" operation, the "End Timecode" is stuck at 13 minutes even though the edited video is 30 minutes long. There does not seem to be an obvious way to set this parameter. I can't get the whole thing to transfer. Ideas, please!

Can I have that in writing? I get so many arguments to contrary, William.
Glad I could help though!

check your time zone, most likely in preferences...

  • Help! time code problem

I am just trying to batch capture some footage with no known time-code breaks but I keep getting a notice saying it was unable to read time-code and that I may have not created sufficiant room for pre-post roll blah blah. How can I fix this?

    hi KK
when you logged the tape, how close to the head of the tape did you log?
you have to be sure not to log withing the first few seconds, because when FCP does the capture it needs about 3 seconds to before the capture point for 'pre-roll' (which allows the camera/deck play the tape and lock onto the timecode before it hits the capture point) ...
you can change the pre and post roll settings in the Final Cut Pro > Audio/Video Settings > Device Contol tab
    hope it helps

  • Export mov WITHOUT time code through compressor

I am trying to send a file from the FCP timeline to compressor. Easy enough. But I want the exported mov to leave compressor with no timecode attached.
Is there a way to tell compressor NOT to include time code on the export?

The only way I know to delete the TC track is using QT Pro.
I don't recall that any of the last 3 versions offered the capability; perhaps it was there and I was unaware of it.
FCP can start TC at some other value. If it is possible in Compressor, I haven't heard of it.
    Good luck.

  • Source Tape Time Code Capture

Is Final Cut Express HD 3.5 capable of capturing the source time code over firewire?

No, but you can reveal it with Piero's Time Code plugin which you can find here along with some other goodies:-

  • Batch capure/Time code problem

Having big issues with the batch capture option i FCP.
I had these problem a while back and someone suggested leaving a 5sec gap between clip. I have done this but on this particular project the batch capture problem is back.
What other trouble shooting would you suggest on this problem.
Using a Canon XH A1 with FCP 6
    Thanks

Change your device control setting to "non controllable device" then use capture now and play the tape back manually... hit escape to stop the capture.
    It ignores the timecode.
Or dub the tape via FW between two cameras/deck etc... and get new TC that way.

  • On Screen Time-Code Help

I have to capture a DVCAM tape and maintain its existing Time-Code. Edit the tape to the time-code the client gave me then export to DVD with the time-code on-screen for the clients review.
Is it possible to do this? I've never had to export with the Time-code on screen?
    Thanks,
    Justin

there's a filter called 'timecode generator' although i don't know where it is because my system is down and i can't reference it. It's in generators I think.
If I'm reading your post correctly, you are saying that the client gave you an EDl and you are cutting the project from his paper edit and he wants timecode displayed . Does he want the timecode of the original tapes via the edit or does he want the timecode from your sequence?
If he wants the original timecode then dump the timecode reader filter on all your clips. If he wants the new sequence timecode then create a new sequence and put your original sequence file in there and put the timecode generator filter on it.

  • ProRess 422 HDV codec time-code out by 5 seconds

I encoded two HDV 1080i50 PAL tapes from my Sony HVR-V1E with ProRes 422 and also the standard Aplpe HDV codec and the ProRes 422 clips time code where around 5 seconds earlier than the HDV and tapes time-code!
    My settings are:
    Camera: Sony HVR-V1E
    Video source 1080 50i PAL
    OS X 10.4.11
    QuickTime 7.3.1
    FCP 6.0.2
    Sequence preset: Apple ProRes 422 1440x1080 50i 48Khz
    Capture Preset HDV-Apple ProRes 422
Device Control Sony HDV 1080i50 FireWire
Have reported this issue to Apple UK and am awaiting a response.

In Fcp, Are your user preferences set to break clips on t/c breaks? from the menubar, >Final cut pro>User Preferences> On the right hand side on the first tab (general) there is a little section 'abort capture on Timecode breaks' just underneath that is a pulldown 'On timecode breaks' choose 'warn after capture' and you should end up with full and solid clips. BTW uncheck the 'abort capture...' box above the pulldown as well.
    Hope it helps.

  • Is Time Code retrievable?

I captured HD footage from a noncontrollable device (Sony FX1000) via HDMI instead of Firewire.
I notice that all clips start at zero time code regardless of where they were on the tape. Does Final Cut Pro have the actual tape time code stored somewhere? Can I tell FCP to display the real time code recorded on the tape instead of these new default numbers?
    Thanks.

SOL, amigo. Once you enter the realm of uncontrollable device, you say goodbye to source timecode.

  • Can't find time code from original footage (captured from mini-DV tape)

Hi. I'm Old to mac, new to FCE, good at iMovieHD ('06). Just got FCE (4.0.1).
Imported some footage (a few random practice clips) from a mini-DV tape I shot, but I can only see the time coding for each clip, not where that clip begins and ends in terms of the entire one hour mini-DV tape.
My log is for the entire mini-DV. So this is a problem.
I suppose I could re-import the entire 60 minute mini-DV tape from the start, but shouldn't the time code be embedded into each frame?
    Help much appreciated.

You can try the free filter FCE Timecode Display with its default settings to display the original timecode of each clip.

  • AUDIO PROBLEMS when exporting to tape

    Hi!
    ADOBE PRO CS4 on VISTA.
    a)  Produced my film on timeline and there everything is perfect. Audio and video are fully synchronised.
However: when I export to tape, playing the exportresult, audio comes about 10 seconds later then the corresponding video! Already from the very first clip!
I rerenderd audio and Work area a few times and also tried Clip -> Audio Options-> Render and Replace but nothing seems to work out.
This is the second time I have this problem.
    b)  When there is no solution for this problem ( an awfull idea!!) I think I have to Unlink Video and Audio for all my clips (about a thousand of them) and then shift the audiopart about 10 seconds to the left.
I found out that "group-unlink" with the help of the ALT knob (an advice I read about here) doesn't function with me !!
Is there a solution for these problems? Thanks a lot!

  • Dealing with time code breaks on the source tape

Some of my source tapes have broken time code, because of "empty space" between recordings. What's the best way to deal with that if you want to be able to automatically recapture video from a tape?
    Thanks.

There are a few possible solutions depending on what you need from the tapes.
You can dupe the whole tape onto another camera or deck (via firewire), or use capture now to grab the whole tape. You'll need to edit the preferences to only warn on timecode breaks, and not create new clips at breaks.
You could also set the FCP capture controls to be a 'non-controllable device', this means you need to hit play on the deck and use 'capture now' in the log and capture window. The only problem with this is that the timecode is not from the tapes, it is generated by FCP to fix the breaks, so batch re-capturing won't work (bad news if the breaks mash up the audio etc).
Duping the tapes can be done by using just one camera and your mac. Capture via the 'non controllable' device method above. Then drop the footage into a sequence and then print that to tape. Then use this tape to capture from & you have footage that will recapture at a later date if needed.
Timecode is a real pain if you have many breaks, duping is often the easiest solution.

  • Exporting a movie with time code when time code doesn't exist

Title says it all. I need to export a 150 frame movie from CG rendered frames that contain no time code so that I can find which frames to re-render

I do not wish to create a time code effect. I need to generate an actual time code that will display in an exported movie.
The latter is achieved with the former.
But I would ask, why can't you just watch the timeline?  Why export at all?  I mean, 150 frame movie is only 5 seconds long.

  • SQL Developer - Problem Exporting Results at times - ver 1.5.3 build 5783

    Hi,
I have been having intermittent problems with running a query and then trying to export the results into an excel spreadsheet. Sometime I have no problem, it brings up the dialog box and I can export. Other times I select export data and pick xls or other export types and nothing happens. I'm trying to understand what could be causing it to work sometimes and not others. Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Ray

Export has been causing problems over all versions, but in generally are getting better over time. I suggest you try 1.5.5, which fixes several problems.
    Hope that helps,
    K.
