Export to tif from Lightroom vs save as tif from Photoshop

Photoshop 10.0.1, Lightroom 2.0, Windows XP
Client wants tif format file. Exporting 34.9 Mb dng file from Lightroom generated 71.6 Mb tif file. File save from Photoshop generated 35.8 Mb tif file. Both saves without compression. Is there less information in the Photoshop generated file? Is one procedure better than the other? Thanks.

You cannot save DNG files from photoshop. This is because DNG lacks the support for the features you need.

Wie exportiere ich am am besten einen Schnittlinie aus Photoshop? Ich bekomme von einem Wort immer nur den ersten Buchstaben exportiert, obwohl alles gerastert auf einer Ebene liegt.
    Thank you! Vielen Dank!

What are you talking about exactly?
If you need to export vector data Photoshop is not the first choice but if you have Type Layers (without faux styles), Vector Masks or Paths it is possible.
    alles gerastert auf einer Ebene
does not seem to make sense in this context though.

  • What settings are best to export sharpened images from Photoshop to use in Final Cut?

I need to give a professional photographer the correct dimensions to export her images from Photoshop for me to use in Final Cut. I told her:
1080 x 1920, 300 dpi, and also to Convert Images to Apple RGB (Final Cut doesnt work well with Adobe RGB, I am told). Her images have alot of heavy sharpening on them--she is an artist--and when i import them into Final Cut, many of the lines that should be crisp are zig-zagged, and if I apply motion to them, they "shake."
My problem is specific to images that have been highly sharpened in Photoshop; i have imported lots of professional images before with no problem. I am on deadline and hope someone out there will see this.

You were right about trashing the finalcut plist. As well as a very specific set of directions I now have put together from what you and others have said elsewhere, and this is it, i hope it helps others with their Canon XHA1 and Final Cut Express HD:
Trash the final cut preferences (plist) in your Home - LIbrary.
go into the Canon XHA1 menu, make sure that you're not set to down-convert to DV.
Get out of the menu. Shut the camera off,
plug in the firewire cable to both the camera and computer,
and turn the camera back to VCR mode.
Open up Final Cut, and go to Easy Setup ,
choose HDV- Apple Intermediate Codec 1080i60
This worked beautifully but took me nearly four hours to figure out, including researching the web and experimenting in FCE HD

  • Exporting PDF's from Photoshop - Low quality / messed up image in Acrobat

Hi guys, I am having this problem for quite some time now and i can't figure it out.
So i have created a portfolio design in Photoshop, and now i want to export that out of Photoshop into images / pdf  combining all the files into one PDF
The problem i have is that the output from Photoshop when it gets into Acrobat, has all kinds of artifacts and different (low) image quality.
I have used all the presets from the "save as pdf" menu in Photoshop as well as exporting as png's or jpegs and creating pdf from Acrobat.
Is this a rendering bug from Acrobat ? When i zoom enough, the problem disappears.
Should i use a specific option / preset when i export from Photoshop ?
    Thanks.

Try turning off Compression and Color Conversion when saving the PDF out of Photoshop.

  • Export ALL Settings from photoshop

    Hi,
I'm about to install a new OS, thus a new installation of Photoshop/Lightroom.
I wonder how can I export actions, settings etc and what are the steps after the fresh installation in order to get the same "view" and settings I'm uses to.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, I did try to copy thses folders, the last time I tried it and simply replacing the ones created with the new installation, with the old ones, did not change anything. I might gotten it wrong, but that's what happened.

  • How do I export an animation from Photoshop with no background, to use in after effects?

Its been a few years since I've used photoshop and after effects together so hoping you can remind me how to do this.
I'm trying to export an animation created in photohop, its frame by frame, no background. I've been exporting it as an image sequence, now I"ve coloured it I need to solve this transparency issue.
Is there a way to export it to use in after effects on top of a background layer.
So I just want to see the character, no background, animation on top of my background layer in after effects, does that make sense??
Please don't say I need to have an alpha channel on each frame, that will take ages, there must be another way.
Please help I need to sort this ASAP
    Thanks in advance!
    x

    Thanks!
So this makes sense, I tried it, when I import into after effects (here is the psd.)
I get this window not sure what to be selecting, but I tried different things and it still isn't importanting as literally the animation with no background, have I missed something? whats strange is that when I import the psd, what does import is a strange monatage of snippets of the video I'm making in afterfx, not the completely separate animation i made in photoshop which I'm trying to work into the video.
very perplexing! any more help is much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Print materials from Photoshop instead of Illustrator

    Hi all,
I occasionally have to print signage, and usually  "design in Photoshop> import graphics into Illustrator> replace text in Illustrator> save as PDF".
I just designed a 300dpi effects heavy image, and am wondering about the ability to save from Photoshop without having to mess with Illustrator. I've seen mention of "exporting in vector format" and it is 300dpi.
= Is my work-flow the most efficient way to do it?
= Can I essentially save/export a PDF from Photoshop that will keep the text vector and print as it would if exported from Illustrator?
Your advice and input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Lands

For the first question I think it is not efficient. For efficiency I would either 1) Use only Illustrator or 2) Use only Photoshop or 3) Do your design in Illustrator and import into Photoshop. The last option probably depends on the subject matter of the document, but still the output options from Photoshop are preferred by some over Illustrator.
Question 2: You can get high quality PDF output from Photoshop. Below is a small portion of a pdf file created by Photoshop and shown in Acrobat. It is being shown at 2400% magnification and shows 30 pt vector text and portions of two circles. The circle on the right is a simple pixel rendering and the circle on the left is a vector shape - the difference is evident.
If you work in Photoshop alone I would suggest starting with two pieces of information to create your initial working document - the number of pixels per inch (not printer dots/inch) you think you need and the size of the desired printed document - multiply them. If you wanted 500 pixels/inch and a 6" x 4" print then set your photoshop document to 3000 x 2000 pixels (minimum). Also, use vector elements in your document wherever possible.

  • Fonts from Photoshop to Premier not clean

I'm attempting to make an simple slide show in Premier Pro CS4 with slides that were created layered in Photoshop CS4 Extended.  the slideshow will be dispalyed on a computer screen in a kiosk at a large sales convention.
    My workflow is:
export the graphic from Photoshop in an image format
    import into Premier
place each graphic on the timeline.
    export as a movie
My problem is that while the graphics look great, the text looks horrible - smeared, pixelated, blurred.
The font used by the graphic designer in Photoshop is ITC Franklin Gothic Book, and in other places,  ITC Franklin Gothic Demi
I've tried exporting from Photoshop to JPG, PNG, BMP, TIFF and they all look horrid.
I've tried using other fonts, with no different outcome.
    I've tried different Premier templates
I've tried different output formats (AVI, MOV, WMV, H.264, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions? It seems like it should be simple, but not so much
Thanks in advance for any help!

You seem to talk of "graphics" and "text" ( and both looking awful) so I am wondering what specifically do you mean.
I get and use graphic text from Photoshop on a regular basis and these look perfect in HD Broadcast (and everything else) and I also use graphic text direct from PPRO Titler without any issues.
    A Text-Graphic  to me can be :
    > A  simple type face / font from my client designers computer that they wish me to use as a "super"  over a video scene /frame.  This usually happens when I do not have that typeface / font  in my Windows systems. (My clients use MAC largely)
    or
    > It can be a custom built designer  type with complex enhancements ( shadows/fills/shapes / paths etc...).  Effectively this is a graphic in my jargon.
We interchange both of these as PSD files ( usually layered so I have control of all the elements).  I work them around from these. eg flattening etc..
They are produced slightly larger than needed in my Sequence and always in RGB (not CMYK)
    and ...
    > I also use graphic text direct from PPRO Titler without any issues
Straight TEXT to me is basic body copy and maybe small.
Wish I could advise more on your issue ...but maybe some of this is helpful.
Were / why  does the 805  x 602 come into your equation?  Are you using a Custom Sequnce  Setting  for this project?

  • Creating graphics for iPhone from Photoshop

Hi, I'm putting together my first App for the iPhone and I have a question when it comes to exporting my graphics from Photoshop. I have looked all over the web place and I can't find a direct answer, I hoped that someone might have an idea in here? It is more of a Photoshop question but directly relates to the iPhone so here goes.......
My psd has the embedded colour profile - CHROMiX iPhone Aug08 as I have been advised to use from the web. From here all I want to do is export the graphic. I am exporting as a PNG-24. The exported graphic is either slightly washed out or much much darker. As this is my first time in doing it I don't know which is right, nor do I know why I am getting two different results.
Any help? Please! I am going round in circles.

Hello, Andy and welcome to the Discussions.
I would suggest that you ask for assistance in the developer forums to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS developer's program:
    http://developer.apple.com/devforums/
You'll be much more likely to get assistance there, particularly with such a very specific issue. This forum is really for people using the iPhone rather than for people developing for it.
    Regards.

  • Major problem: I can not export NEF files from Lightroom

This is just plain weird: I can't export NEF files from Lightroom 2. I can export any other file format, but not NEF. With Lightroom 1 this was no problem.
It makes no difference whether I choose the export command with my mouse, via the menu or with a key stroke - nothing happens.
    Lightroom version 2.0
    Camera Raw version 4.5.0.175
    Camera Nikon D3
    Photoshop CS3 version 10.0.1
    MacOsX version 10.5.4
I've called Adobe, and they simply don't know. I have reinstalled Lightroom 2 with no succes. Restarting, repairing permissions, nothing helps.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Marsel

Marsel, your language is confusing, First, you cannot 'export' NEFs to PS. You can send a copy there from within LR as a tif or psd.
Exporting per se takes place through the Library module under the Export function. When Nef's are exported by choosing 'original' in the export dialogue, the file is the 'original' NEF accompanied by an XMP. That Nef, if opened directly in PS from your file system should appear in the Camera Raw window, where you can make whatever new edits on it you want or change the original adjustments you made in LR. Then, once you open that file in PS from the Camera Raw window, any further work you do will be pixel editing. That work can then be saved in a number of formats, but not as a NEF.
Transferring files to PS from LR for editing is another matter. That sends a copy of the original NEF, including LR adjustments to PS as either a Tiff or a PSD (your choice via the dropdown). After you have edited that Tiff or PSD in PS and hit save, it will send a copy back to LR as a Tiff or PSD, which will appear next to the original nef.
These procedures work perfectly on both my windows 32 and 64 bit machines with LR2 and 2.1. with all my NEFs from several camera models.
When you say 'export' do you really mean sending a copy to PS or do you mean 'Export' as LR defines that term?

Hi, I am having a little trouble with exporting images to another drive and Catalogue and need some help if anyone can give me some advice
I am currently using Lightroom 5.6 and operating on a Mac with OSX Ver 10.9.5.
I am receiving an error problem when doing the following -
I am exporting selected photos from a particular Catalogue saved on Drive 1 to a folder created on another Drive where a Lightroom Catalogue has been created. In this Catalogue I have arranged for the images once exported to be moved to a different folder - I used the Auto Import process under the File dialogue box.
When processing the Export I receive an error message for each of the images being exported indicating the following -
    Heading Import Results
Some import operations were not performed
Could not move a file to requested location. (1)
then a description of the image with file name
    Box Save As                                  Box  OK
If I click the OK button to each image I can then go to the other Catalogue and all images are then transferred to the file as required.
To click the OK button each time is time consuming, possibly I have missed an action or maybe you can advise an alternative method to save the time in actioning this process.
Thanks if you can can help out.

Thank You, but this is a gong show. Why is something that is so important to us all so very, very difficult to do?

  • Exporting Photos from Lightroom 3 vs. Saving JPEGs from Photoshop IMAGE QUALITY

    Hi all,
I'm not quite understanding why if I export a photo from Lightroom 3, the thumbnail looks great in Finder (if you max out display size) but when I edit the same photo from Photoshop and save it, the thumbnail image is blurry. Opening images comes out the same. I'm just being nitpicky, it's kind of annoying. Can anyone explain the difference? Thanks!

  • Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4?

    Hello all,
Is it possible to export brush presets from Lightroom 4?  I created custom brush presets on my laptop and I would like to export them and import them onto my desktop if at all possible.  Did a bit of research online and could only find this link which only applies to 'Presets' in general, http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS2A36C507-E076-4b14-AAC3-87852595D175.html.  Please let me know if this is possible or not as this would be a great time saver.
    Thank you!
    -photorobot2010

Brush Presets are stored in the "Local Adjustment Presets" sub-folder within the Lightroom settings folder structure. The location of the latter varies by Operating System, or if you have "Store Presets with Catalog" checked in your Lightroom Preferences (Presets Tab)....easiest way to locate them is go to that Presets Tab on the Preferences dialog and click on "Show Lightroom Presets Folder"....that will open a Finder/Explorter window with the Lightroom folder showing. Open that folder, find the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder and copy the brush preset .lrtemplate files to your desktop. Repeat the process on the desktop to locate the Local Adjustment Presets sub-folder, then simply copy the brush presets into it. They should then show up in Lightroom on the desktop (you may need to restart Lightroom first).
