Export to Web w/ FCP 6

I just finished a Prores 422 (HQ) sequence in FCP 6 and everything looks great when I export to either H.264 or Quicktime Mov. However, when I compress the video to a WMV using Sorenson 4.5, the video quality is poor. Is anyone exporting for Windows Media Player on the web? If so, what are the best settings in Sorenson or Compressor (for the best quality playback on the web)? Thanks!
Ray

The clip is 2 minutes long and I would like to keep it under 20mb. I previously did this on a PC, exporting my timeline to AVI (from another NLE) and into Sorenson. The results were always great and there was really no need to experiment. I am setting my aspect to 426x240 (16:9). Sorenson always did a great job compressing the AVI files for the web, to the point that you barely noticed any loss in quality. For some reason, I am not getting the same result with the Quicktime files. If anyone is streaming high quality video from their website, I am sure that the settings will work with my video files.

  • I would like to know the list of possible output (export) file codec from FCP X. For example, can I export  in F4V or FLV format?

I would like to know the list of possible output (export) file codec from FCP X.  For example, can I export  in FLV format?  Where do I find the list, which gives me all the details about it?  Or is there only one output codec? Thanks

That's an excellent analogy. While FCP cannot export FLV. It is possible to do a very simple substitution. If you export a QuickTime movie using the .mov suffix with the H.264 codec, you can change it to FLV simply by changing the suffix to .flv. This is an acceptable format for Flash movies on most web sites, if that's where you're trying to go.

  • Exporting a web report to Excel

    Hi,
When I export a web report to Excel, it works fine. when I resave the same file as .xls file, the excel file size is reduced drastically (less than 1/10).
Why is this happening? Any way to reduce the file size in the first stage, that is down loading to Excel from web.
    Thanks
    Unni

    Hi,
I don't understand what do you mean here. Do you mean we could not reduce size in the first time? We have exactly the same problem and the file size is about 20-40 MB. This size is too big to download by end user. It's excel file with .xls extension. When I open it by Excel and then try to Save As, it try to save as Web Page with *.htm extension. If I resave as a Excel Workbook format, the size is reduced to 3-4 MB. My question is the same as the other folk, how do I save it as Excel format with proper size the first time?
    Thanks,

  • Export for web doesn't work (X and 7).

I use the export for web feature a lot.  I find that I have to bounce back and forth between Quicktime 7 and X because sometime this feature will work and sometimes it doesn't.  There's no consistent reason I can figure out why the applications will or will not work properly.  On some occasions I get some small 8Kb file.  On other occasions, I only get the audio.
    Any ideas?

Uhh, the system requirements for Photoshop CC state you need 2 GB RAM, 8 GB recommended. This is likely your problem.

  • Strokes on appearance is getting cut off when exporting for web & Devices

I'm a screen print artist using Adobe Illustrator CS5 in windows 7(blah!) to export images of our customers' artwork into a huge folder of images on a server. The images are then loaded into a program so that they can be viewed company-wide and by the customer.
Occasionally, when there is an appearance applied to text it seems to cut off the tops and/or bottoms of the outermost stroke. This seems to be only happening to text, and happens randomly and is very annoying. See the image attached.
it does this with both JPEG and PNG images, and whats more, changes when you adjust the image size. it either gets better or worse. I have to change the image size on every export so that they are all within our size requirements.
I have found that if you put the art into an envelope with all the settings at 0 and then export for web it prevents this from happening. However, that isn't very efficient as i need to be moving a ton of artwork a day, and I am not the only person who may be working on the Illustrator file.
Is there any setting either in illustrator or windows that may be causing this anomaly?

    Try adding:
Effect >> Path >> Outline Object
So  your type will still be editable
If that does not work you may want to:
    Type: Create Outline
I only had this problem once before, on some snickerdoodle cookies package, and that was a script font. Might be related to the font you use.

  • RSRT export to Web Template

    Hi everybody!
    I'm using Netweaver 7.0 and WAD 7.0
In RSRT1 i can launch a query and choose to display it as HTML, and then when the query is diplayed i hit F8 (Browser) so it showed to me as a web page.
So, the question is, if it is possible to save this presentation of a query as a Web template. The point is, it's displayed so well, with charts and other useful stuff, so i'd like to use it as a Web template. There is a possibility to export it to Excel ot to CSV, so i thought there may be a possibility to export to WEB.
    Any ideas??

    Kuatroka,
I think the default template used is the version 3.5 0ADHOC, you can load the default template in old WAD and change the DP to any query you want and save the template. Then you can use that template.

  • Using Quicktime's "Export for Web" feature in iWeb?

    Greetings,
Does anyone know if this is possible within iWeb, that is, to use movies created using Quicktime's "Export to Web" feature, which really seems to deliver superior movie quality?
    Much appreciated,
    DaveB

Thanks, good stuff, though I'm still having a small problem with this. I'm getting a gray line around the top and left of my movie and the right side of the player is getting cut off. When I try to make the width larger, it just moves the gray line further to the left.
    Any ideas?

  • Using Color profiles and exporting for web browsers

I've been trying to figure out the answer to this question. As I'm sure you're aware Safari supports color profiles while other web browsers like Firefox do not. I would like to setup Aperture so that it displays and exports images for the widest audience possible. Unfortunately it embeds a color profile and my images on the web only display correctly in Safari. I've tried changing the proofing profiles and export settings to no avail. I didn't seem to have this problem in iPhoto, a picture there looked the same on screen as it did in Safari and Firefox but I can't achieve the same with Aperture...

Thanks for that information, unfortunately I'm not really any closer to solving the issue since I've already tried that. 1) by default, doesn't Aperture automatically embed the sRGB color profile? 2) if I set view>proofing mode to sRGB shouldn't what I see on screen match what a "dumb" application such as Firefox does when it ignores the embedded profile and display sRGB? I've tried going into the preferences>export settings and changed everything to sRGB IEC61966-2.1 but I see no difference in the final image between that and the default setting.
I guess my question is more specific to Aperture since I don't have this problem with other applications. For example, in photoshop if I do Export for Web it strips out any embedded profile and when I open that image in Firefox and Safari side-by-side they are exactly the same. But not so when I export an image from Aperture, when opened in Firefox it is desaturated and flat and of course in Safari it honors the embedded profile and looks fine.

  • Exporting for Web Usage

Hi. I have no doubt this has been discussed, but am hoping I can get a more concrete answer. I would like to export some shorts to put on my web site. I know there is a balance to be struck between quality and file size, but the choices that can be made with settings leaves me confused.
I am using the latest version of Final Cut Studio Pro. What are best settings based on people's experience to export for web usage? This would ideally be a quicktime file in the end.
    Thanks.

I usually use Sorenson 3, quarter screen size and they usually come out pretty manageable. I would use the H.264 codec but I want to be sure all who come to my site and view the Quicktimes and some people don't have QT v.7 yet.
Allow me a shameless plug as well: http://www.scottsimmons.tv/
If you look at any clips on my site and save them as a quicktime movie, then open them an playback in Quicktime player, you can hit command + i and see the movie info where you can see exact specs on each clip. That can give you an idea of quality and file size. It's really an imperfect science.

  • Quicktime Export For Web files inaccessible

I accidentally posted this in the QT for Windows section, but I'm a Mac guy.
This is totally bizarre. As of this afternoon, all of the QT files (generated with Export for Web from QT7.6) that I've posted over recent days and weeks, on multiple servers, played back by different computers at different locations, running QT 7.6.4 and 7.6.6, OSX 10.5.8 to 10.6.3, WILL NOT PLAY. How is this possible?
If I connect directly to the original .mov file (as opposed to the "alias" .mov file generated by Export for Web), then it will play. If I connect to the .m4v file, my browser wants to download it, and then play it.
What's going on here? Apparently I'm not the only one to have this problem. Is this due to some sort of DRM update put in place on account of the iPad introduction? iTunes and QT have been updated on at least one of the computers I've tried this with, and it didn't make a difference.
    Hello??? Is anybody out there?

    Here are several examples:
    Posted on March 12: http://vista.adventureadv.com/jackall/Aragon-proof1/index.html
    Posted yesterday on my server:http://vista.adventureadv.com/jackall/cherry-proof1/index.html
Posted yesterday on my remote server (hosted by 1&1): http://www.adventureadv.com/cherry-proof1/index.html
In case you think I screwed up the original exported HTML file: http://vista.adventureadv.com/jackall/cherry-proof1/readme-cherry.html

Direct link to the QT file: http://vista.adventureadv.com/jackall/cherry-proof1/cherry-720.mov
Also, the server named vista is a Mac server running OSX Server 10.4-something - despite its name, it is not a Windows Vista machine.

  • Export of WebI reports to XML in BO4.1

    Hello,
I've seen some of BO What's New presentation stating that export of WebI reports to XML is possible in BO 4.1. However, my standalone client (4.1 SP1) does not offer this function.
My question thus is, whether export to XML is really possible, and if it is, which SP will we need for that.
    Best regards,
    Petr Götz

    Hello Victor,
This is the webcast which states XML as a possible export format. It even states that XML export was already available in 4.0SP5, which is clearly not true:
What is new with Web Intelligence BI 4.1 – Part 1, Developer Support ASUG Webcast
    See Figure 3.
Export to XML would be highly appreciated for our project, since we will need to export the report structures and then import them to a custom-coded application.
If XML export is not currently supported, is it at least planned for some of the next SPs to be released in near future?
    Best regards,
    Petr

  • Export  To Web Not Working

I'm having similar issues with export... Running Vista. I just downloaded pro7 today and thought it would be a piece of cake to upload the mov file and player to the web... I was wrong!
I imported a 16MB H246 file and it plays great in QT. I select "Export to Web" and I have all three files. The original 16MB MP4 file was converted to a 248kb MOV file. This was my first concern. I downloaded all of the files in the same web directory. I opened the READ ME file and clicked on the 'play' icon and the big Q comes up and then the Q with a QUESTION MARK. I had same experience in FF and IE. This was without any modifications at all to the html code etc.
    http://www.taylorsfbc1.org/qt/ReadMe.html
My goal is to embed the QT File and Player so that anyone who opens the file will be using the QT video player.
Question: Should the READ ME preview work without any modifications if all files are loaded in the same directory?
Question 2: How could my H246 16MB file become 248 kb MOV file?
    Any help?

    Check this.
In the ReadMe file a JavaScript in the <head> of the file has a uppercase L
    qtp_Library.js
    http://www.apple.com/library/quicktime/scripts/qtp_Library.js
In the sample code on the page it is with a lowercase l.
    qtp_library.js
    http://www.apple.com/library/quicktime/scripts/qtp_library.js
The file with the uppercase L cannot be found. The file is used to display the video HTML code.
Change the l and see if it works.

  • Cannot export to MPG2 from FCP 5.0.3

    Hey,
Finally getting ready to burn my project to DVD using DVDSP. When I go to export to MPG2 however, it isn't listed as an option in my available codecs. There is:
    MPEG IMX 8-bit PAL - 50 Mvb/s - 48 kHz
    or
    MPEG 4
Then under custom, there is another few MPGs that go something like this:
    MPEG IMX 525/60 (30Mb/s)
    MPEG IMX 525/60 (40Mb/s)
    MPEG IMX 525/60 (50Mb/s)
I also opened Quicktime and see that there is no codec there either to encode to DVDSP compatible format.
Needless to say Compressor has never worked, unless the appearance of an error message reading, "Cannot submit batch, cannot connect to background process" is the new definition of working. I've tried all the workarounds for Compressor that have appeared over the last 4 months or so.
I don't really want to export as DV-PAL or whatever and then import into DVDSP cos that will be two lots of compression and I'm assuming it won't come out too good.
Some help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Crazy

ooooh boy... that's not good news for me... I have totally given up on Compressor. I have reinstalled too many times to count along with various other fixes such as a sudo command in terminal, and disconnecting all firewire/ethernet cables. (Although even if it did work, it wouldn't be much use to me without Firewire cos that's where all my captured video is).
SOme guy on the Compressor board though was saying he doesn't use Compressor cos it's too slow. He exports directly out of FCP somehow? Can I import a sequence into DVDSP?... probably not.
This is insane... all those $$$ down the dunny cos I can't even get my project to DVD!!

  • Export Quicktime movie in FCP comes out as a Final Cut Pro Movie File

Does anyone know why when I Export Quicktime movie in FCP it comes out as a Final Cut Pro Movie File? I can still play it in Quicktime and it's possible to set the Quicktime Player as the default software, but it still says in my finder window that it is a Final Cut Pro Movie File.
Does anyone know if there are any settings for the clip to come out as a Quicktime Movie instead? Thank you!

+"The studio apps "brand" their exports. Actually kind of useful...+
In the words of the venerable Forest Gump, "Useful is as useful does" ... or something like that.
I actually use similar "icon" techniques in other areas of my workflow. But most of the time I just modify the file title for quick ID - I also use dashes & underscores to get things to stand out and stay at the top of lists etc.
But QT is my Go-To App for quick media reference and I have it set up to play almost all types off media when double clicked. I started doing it years ago when iTunes opened up every time I wanted to check a few seconds of an mp3 file.
I guess the best solution would have been for Apple to leave the "export FinalCut movie" option intact and simply add in an "export Quicktime movie" option as well. Or maybe add another drop down option for the tagging (branding).
At least we would have been able to make the workflow choices in-the-box rather than doing it with the OS.
    Andy Neil,
I think using the OS is the better option rather than re-compressing your movie just so you can double click into QT.

  • Export for web

    Hi,
I wonder if Lightroom overs a "export for web"?
I saw that the jpg's with 50% are still larger than the once exported via PS-for web.
I wonder if there is any trick or....
    thanks
    R

Web galleries created by LR use more storage than those created by PS because (at least some) LR galleries have three images plus a thumbnail for each image file compared to only one image plus a thumbnail in PS. The three images are of different size; this may be how LR galleries match the displayed image size to the user's browser window on the fly, a neat trick.
Another area where LR needs some extra storage is the catalog. In the smallish sample I examined, importing a jpg file into LR increased the total storage required for the image by about 40%.
