Export to windows media encoder-PPro crashes
Every time I try to export to Adobe Media encoder: windows media: PPro crashes.
I am working on a 64k computer using the 32k version of PPro CS3.
Every other format in the media encoder works fine.
Does anyone have any solutions or know why this happens?
Thanks,
J.
J.Charette, "Export to windows media encoder-PPro crashes" #, 15 Jan 2009 12:24 pm
This thread is getting a bit old now but I'm now having the exact same problem as J.Charette. I think I may have some light to shed on it as well. I was successfully running CS3 master collection and exporting to WMV files in PPro/AE for the past year under XP64. I was given a new computer (again XP64) and didn't have any problems until I installed Microsoft Windows Media Encoder 64 (I used to use the 32 bit version successfully and this time figured I'd just get the 64 bit one instead).
Now that I've installed WME I can't export as WMV from any AE/PPro CS3. As soon as AME comes up with the format selection screen, if I select WMV from the drop down box it immediately crashes. I've tried uninstalling WME, reinstalling it and even uninstalling WME & CS3 and reinstalling from scratch. Still doesn't work.
In my case at least, there is a definite correlation between installing WME64 and its interaction with Adobe Media Encoder... Anyone have any suggestions? It seems to me there must be some registry setting / config file for AME that is causing it to try to use WME64 for something which causes a crash (since 32 and 64 bit apps can't call each other).
Ideas?
Thanks,
Christopher Grant

Exporting Cross Platforms/Windows Media Encoder
(I know this is an apple forum, but I have transferred videos across platforms from a Mac to a PC. My employer wants me to create wmv files to play on windows media player and all the other forums told me to cross platforms if I couldn't pay for a program to export through Final Cut Pro.)
Long story short, I exported out of FCP into M2v files. The files are now on the PC, where they play fine. However, when I try to convert into wmv, I lose the first 3-4 seconds of video and it throws the audio off by that much. Am I doing something in Windows Media Encoder to lose that or was the initial transfer from FCP the problem?
Any help would be great. No answer from me about what to do on your PC, but you might go directly from FCP to WMV using Flip4Mac in trial mode. It will give you 1/2 the duration of a clip, up to 30 seconds, so you can test whether it works for your purpose. Could be worth chunking out the $49. for the license.

Adobe Media Encoder CS4 Crashing Immediately
Hello,
I am running the CS4 Production Premium suite on a Windows 7 64-bit computer with 12GB RAM. Up til last week, the whole Adobe suite had been running smoothly. (I primarily use Premiere, Media Encoder, Photoshop, and Encore). However, Encore started locking up the computer any time I tried to work on authoring a Blu-ray (it locked up immediately upon opening a Blu-ray project, and only locked up on a new project when I switched from DVD to Blu-ray mode).
I assumed that some of Encore's source code had either been moved, overwritten by something else, or that there was possibly a program incompatibility with something else on my computer. So I took the step to uninstall and reinstall Encore from the install DVDs.
Upon a "successful" reinstallation, I then went into Premiere CS4 to encode a timeline to a P2 file. Premiere seemed to be doing its normal exporting process fine, but Media Encoder would crash after the red splash screen disappeared. To be more explicit, the red splash screen would disappear and be replaced by a window the normal size of the Encoder program, but nothing appeared on screen in the window other than a small white box in the upper left with the rest just being plain gray (see attached photo). At the same time this white window appeared, Win 7 popped up a box saying that Adobe Media Encoder has stopped working and that it would search for a solution to the problem, which it never could do.
I then tried deactivating the suite, uninstalling the full suite and reinstalling, updating so the patches would bring it up to date, and then tried running Adobe Media Encoder again, this time running from the Start menu rather than from Premiere. Yet, it was still the same response: the program crashes immediately.
I would appreciate any suggestions and help that people can provide.
Sincerely,
Kevin T

Widescreen footage using the windows media encoder of Matrox 100
I use PPRO 2.0 with the matrox 100 card. I will encode a footage, shoot in widescreen. Normally when I have a 4:3 picture I use the Matrox mediaencoding for WMP and this works fine. But the matrox mediaencoder settings doesn't have a widescreen setting.
Using the PPRO encoder in widescreen setting, the picture is distorted, maybe because of the many time dicussed Matrox system.
Can anyone give me suggestions to encode a matrox build footage into a mediaencoded footage using the matrox media encoder or otherwise?
Thanks
ChrisThanks for replying.
The solution I finally use is to export the AVI in windows media encoder and encode it to WMV format. This works but is as bit more time consuming than directly use the Matrox encoder in PPRO as I use for 4:3 footages (which have no widescreen option).

Just how hard it is to export using Adobe Media Encoder ?
For those who have CS4 already, just how difficult is it to export
to Adobe Media Encoder ?
Right now it's very simple, you make up your work area for example, and export.
So with CS4, I must do what exactly to do this ?
Do I have to save the project with the work area selected, exit, now open Adobe Media Encoder and now select "open project" and now load this up and then export ?
Please tell me it ain't so.
I'd like to hear the steps to do this. I have to be honest, what once was an exciting time, has turned into a disappointing time now, reading all the things Adobe had changed ( for no good reason ). I just don't understand sometimes why they do things. I think they should get more input from poeple that use their products on a daily basis, so they know what they should touch, and what not to touch.
I'm actually not looking forward to upgrading now, even though I will, because of a few things that look good in the new version.
Dave.It ain't so.
The workflow remains pretty much the same until you finally click the OK button. At that point the AME will open up and you can choose to start the queue immediately or switch back to PPro and do several more exports before starting the queue.
Read all about exporting
from the horse's mouth. ;)
You will also find several
CS4 tutorials that will show you how it's done.
Cheers
Eddie

Adobe Media Encoder CS5 crashes at a certain point while rendering
Adobe Media Encoder CS5 crashes at a certain point while rendering, I have also tried to render directly from Premiere Pro but this only makes PremPro crash instead.
The clip I am trying to render right now is 20 mins long, 1600x900 and is a .avi file. The output settings are H.264/HDTV 720p 29.97fps High Quality.
This all started happening after I re-installed windows.
Machine Specs:
Intel i5 3570k
8GB 1866MHz RAM
Intel HD 4000 graphics (yes I know I should get CUDA)
I made sure that CS5 was updated before posting this.>1600x900 and is a .avi file
That size description makes me think this is a screen capture, not a camera file... if it is a screen capture, what codec/software did you use?

Problems exporting to Windows Media file
Hello,
I don't know why, but when I export movies as WMV files, I am only able to do a few seconds of it (30 seconds to 35 seconds) . Any one know why I am not able to export the entire movie? I did not install it on this computer, but I believe it's using a codec from Flip4Mac.
Thanks in advanceresonally, I don't use either one. For WMV format, I use Microsoft's free Windows Media Encoder on my Windows XP system (no Mac version available).< </div>
Yar, find a cheap used PC; should be about $100.
Having a dedicated PC for this will save you endless headaches. You just cannot imagine how weird it is getting QT to WMV. Popwire and Flip4Mac both have excellent white papers you can download that explain why their solution is better than the other guy's. These can give you some clues about the types of problems you are going to have with bitrates, codecs and gamma/bright changes between platforms.
You also want to explore thoroughly the option of using Flash for crossplatform delivery. It is completely agnostic, universally available, and tolerant of all kinds of weird data issues.

For some reason, I can only export the first half of my 30 second commercial to a Windows Media file. Odd. I really have no idea why it's doing this. Any suggestions?
AE CS3, working on a MAC
Heck if I'm missing it in the render Q options let me know. There is technically no need to buy anything than one single Windows licence. No need for AE or other tools. Windows Movie Maker is free, Windows Media Encoder Basic is free and so is VirtualDub and several other tools that can output AVIs in a plethora of CoDecs and WMVs. All you have to do is get an AVI or MOV over to the Windows world... The question however is, how frequently you have to do this and if it is worth spending an afternoon with Bootcamp and a Windows install. You might quite well get happy with Flip4Mac Basic, which is a mere 99 bucks if I recall correctly. Things only get dicy if you need more advanced features of the more expensive Pro version. In addition, there's always the risk of something looking perfect on OSX and the client still ending up with an unusable file if you have no way of checking them on the native OS.

Qosmio G30-163: Windows media encoder doesn't recognise video device
I cannot get Windows media encoder to recognise my video camera connected to S-video port (Qosmio G30-163).
I get similar problem with Marratech pro webconferencing application (it crashes after 15-20 second if I try to use it - during the time the application is frosen - in configuration I can see the test picture/video).
If I use InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 Platinum bundled software for capturing video it works just fine.Hi Nesko
In my opinion you see this issue a little bit wrong. You are right about some standards but you must know that every hardware manufacturers dont care much about that. Other way Toshiba as notebook producer can not test all cams and external devices with the unit and also all software you can find on the market. It is a mission impossible.
Qosmio is a multimedia unit and if you read specification about that you will see that you can do everything listed there (watch TV, connect camcorder and create own DVD movies etc.). Every one of us has some specific and unique wishes but nobody can guarantee that everything you want will work.
For example: since almost a year I have Qosmio G20. I have tested it with my camcorder, with VHS recorder using it with preinstalled and also third part software and for every situation I have found solution and it work somehow.
I really dont know which cam you have but if you want to have web conferencing without any problems you should by USB webcam with highest resolutions and frames per second. Web cam will be recognized and installed very fast and you can use it any time. Sorry but web conferencing via MCE and cam is not known to me.
Anyway you can try to contact support. Maybe they have some magic\solution. If you will find out how it works please write again. I am really interested if something like that is possible.
Good luck! -
Problems exporting wo windows media
Ok. I have an ixus camera. I know, not the ideal hardware for source material :) But I got it to work in premiere with the morgan multimedia m-jpeg codec. So now pemiere can handla the movies.
With cs3, the movies exported fine to wmv. No problems. But with cs4, I get a very pixelated image, if you know what I mean. Like its low resolution, and the resized so you starting to se the individual pixels. If I export to, lets say, quicktime, the image is fine. If I put a check in "allow interlaced processing" it gets e little less pixelated, but instead blury.
What to do? Is there a new engine for convering to wmv or whats the deal here?
win xp sp 3
4 Gb memory
8800 gtx, latest drivers
Please advice
// MagnusI'm not sure why you're having problems exporting to WMV, but for the most control over WMV parameters you should use the free Microsoft Windows Media Encoder.
Cheers

Media Encoder CC Crashes Loading Looks 3
Every time I load Media Encoder it crashes when "Loading Looks3_AE10.plugin. I have no idea where to even start with trying to fix this. I just formated my primary drive and am in the process of reinsalling and setting everything up. So I just got all my stuff reinstalled and updated and was going to test something out in Media Encoder and I get this same issue every time. I've tried updating the OS, restarting, making sure everything else is up to date and nothing helps.

The Cloud forum is not about using individual programs
The Cloud forum is about the Cloud as a delivery & install process
If you will start at the Forums Index https://forums.adobe.com/welcome
You will be able to select a forum for the specific Adobe product(s) you use
