Export To YouTube - Quicktime Error -50

While I have exported this project for YouTube via Share, I had to make some additional edits = Re-shooting two smalls pieces of footage. Now when I try to export via the Share option in FCP-7, somewhere in the conversion, the exporting stops and I get the following Quicktime Error:
Share Failure
Quicktime Error -50
The YouTube conversion stops at that point. I did upgrade to 10.6.8. I have never come across this error before. Anyone have an idea what is going on??
Thanks!!
Sky.

Thanks!! As it turns out, after reading many comments on the Creative Cow, I tried a couple things first before trying your suggestion (which was also recommended on the Creative Cow site). Since I had just updated to 10.6.8 I repaired permissions. I also checked all the clips in the sequence since I did a lot of coping and pasting. Turns out the two new clips I added i accidently pasted some filters two or three times. After deleting the duplicate filers, the was able to export just fine. I suspect the added filters caused the issue with Quicktime.
Thanks again for your help!!

I reset the settings to Flash 5 - but still comes up with the

    Thanks Jodi

I'm having the same problem. Every website I find on the

it's still not working. Anyone have insight? I even uninstalled my

  • Export keeps failing: QuickTime error 0

Still having problems exporting my video. I've tried Share/DVD... to hard drive, and exporting from Compressor with DVD settings, and every time, the audio exports fine, and the video starts - but at some point it fails with a QuickTime error 0.
I tried deleting some of the layered parts of the video, thinking that perhaps that was causing the problem, but unfortunate
    Y that wasn't it.
Anyone know what might cause that error?  I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to rebuild the whole film :-(
    Thanks
    David

Im have the same problem as well. Did you guys ever figure out how to resolve the issue?
It seems like this error came up alot in previous versions of fcp, and it was tied to currupt/missing render files or missing mpeg2 components. I think the error is a bit different for fcpx. Ive tried everything I can think of as well.
    Thanks,

  • Quicktime error when trying to export FCPX movie to YouTube

I have an established YouTube account and I'm having trouble uploading one of my videos to YouTube. It just seems to crap out at about 12% done, and I get a Quicktime error. I'm sharing it via Final Cut Pro X.
I haven't had this problem with any of the other videos I've tried to upload to YouTube, including a couple of simple test videos today. The test videos all uploaded just fine.
The video I'm trying to upload is about 5 minutes long and has a lot of still images and transitions. Maybe it's very data-heavy and that's why it's falling over? Should I do something like compress the file before trying to share it to YouTube? Or make it into a master file first and then upload to YouTube from my browser instead?

IMO, using YT uploader is more reliable.
Although I responded differently to your other thread, based on the additional info here, it sounds like you might have a bad render file. I'd suggest you:
    turn off background rendering;
    delete project render files
without rendering, export a short section of your project to a Pro Res master file.
If that works. d the whole movie with the YT uploader.

  • Final Cut Pro X, Export to Youtube fail says, QuickTime Error: -50

Im having trouble with Final Cut Pro X every time I try to export my project to Youtube a quarter way through processing it stops and says QuickTime Error: -50  How do I fix this?

I'm going to guess that you have a problematic clip(s) that FCP isn't happy with. Is your project all from the same source (camera, download, rip, etc
Also, how long is your project? There was a recent post where I was convinced that he had a corrupted clip and it turned out simply that the file size was too big.
But your error code indicates clip trouble.

  • I am getting quicktime error 50 when I attempt to export a retimed project in fcpx to youtube. I mix and match retime rates. I usaully have no issues. The entire project is retimed.

I am getting quicktime error 50 message when I try to share a project to youtube. I use retime frequently, mixing and matching rates with no issues. I am having trouble with this project. The entire project is retimed ( which  I have done before), it is four minutes and change in length. I used different rates, holds as well, and
secondary storylines ( retimed to match the primary clip rate ). Any suggestions would be helpfull, thank you.

    I figured it out:
FCPX does not support NTFS drives, even with Paragon NTFS working perfectly for everything else on the system.
I guess Apple (just) assumes that nobody will, or should, be using any other filesystem than Mac with FCPX.
I wasted hours looking for a solution, when a better error message besides a misleading "cannot allocate memory" could have been something more useful.
    Not impressed.

  • In attempt to burn blu-ray, I get QuickTime error 0.  Takes hours to export a 7 minute movie from timeline, then get notice it fails.  What's going on here?

New problem just started 24 hours ago.  When I try to export from the time line to create a QuickTime file, a 7 minute movie on time line takes 3 hours to export and then the export fails, where as a few days ago, that export would take about 10 minutes at most.  I get the same failure notice when I try to share to blu-ray, DVD, or Vimeo.  Tried to use compressor, no such luck as compressor failed to make a .mov file.  I get QuickTime error 0 message about 5 minutes into trying to share to Blu-Ray now.   Does anyone know what is going on here?  I'm running latest update of Snow Leopard on an intel Mac Pro and the latest update to Final Cut Pro X.  I've also installed QT 7.6.6 to use in creating time lapse movie files.

Same problem here, too. Final Cut Pro X 10.0.3 on OS 10.6.8. However, it is only doing it on ONE of my projects. A 4-second test project burned successfully.
I'm  actually going to use iDVD to burn copies for a few people, so I only need the movie file from FCPX.
Would someone please post best export settings for use on a DVD? In FCPX, the project is  in HD (1080p) with all media optimized to ProRes 442. I know it will have to be down-sampled to DVD resolution, but I've always been curious to know what settings will result produce the best possible quality in DVD resolution.
    Thank you!

First try exporting a self-contained movie from FCP, the using the resulting file in Compressor.  To do it, go to File->Export->QuickTime Movie (do NOT use QuickTime Conversion).  In the export window, check the self-contained option but do not "recompress all frames."
Once the export is finished, launch Compressor then use the self-contained file as the source.  If that fails, you may want to try using theis: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/compressorrepair/

  • Exporting FCP quicktime error -50

hi i want to export a 9 minutes video with FCP. while exporting, suddenly an error was occurred "final cut pro has failed quicktime error -50" , the statement probably like this.
i've searched on internet about this bug (quicktime error -50) but i couldn't find solution
    thank you very much.
    any response will help .

One thing that seems to solve a lot of these export problems in 10,9 is this: right click on the FCPX app file and choose Get Info. Check the box next to Prevent App Nap. You may have to close and re-launch FCP for it to take efffect.

  • Error -50 when exporting to YouTube, .mac, etc.

I made an iMovie, that I want to export to Youtube. The Movie plays fine within iMovie 08, but when I want to export it to YouTube or .mac, I get the following error message : The following Event is missing "Desktop". Error -50. Anone has got any idea, what's wrong here?

I had the exact same problem.
    Here's how I solved it:
I opened the directory ~/Movies/iMovie Projects, and found the project with the problem. Then I right clicked on the project and selected "Show package contents". I then dragged the file "Project" to Text Edit. It looks like a bunch of garbage, but there's some readable info there.
I did a search for "Desktop". Thats when I saw a reference to an mp3 file I had used as background music in the project. So there really was a file missing - my background music - which I had put on my desktop when working on the project, then trashed a while back.
The error message could have been better, say, including the name of the file and not just the directory. Anyhow, hope this helps you.

  • HT4714 i cant export my video to any of the destinations on my list.. it keeps saying QuickTime Error -50 what do i do cuz if i cant use it i want my money back

i cant export my video into anything i keep getting a QuickTime Error -50

Unfortunately, these boards have too many similar complaints.
There are variety of things that seem to cause these exporting failures. Most seem to relate to corrupted clips. Here's a list of fixes that have worked to solve some of the reported problems.
First it's worthwhile to trash preferences; use this app.
    Turn off Background Rendering.
From within FCP, delete project render files and event render files. Select a short section and export without rendering. If it works, export the full project. If it doesn't work…
Create a new project. Copy the old project and paste into the new project. Export a short test and if it exports. export the full project. If that doesn't work…
    Create a new user account.
    Good luck.

  • Tried to export my Final Cut Pro and I get an error; QuickTime Error: -50.

I am trying to export my Final Cut Pro project and when it is exporting, about 20mins later, it gives me an error.  How can i fix the problem.
    Error code: QuickTime Error: -50

Try deleting preferences (use Preference Manager, a free application).
Also, you may try copying everything in your timeline and pasting into a new project. See if that exports correctly.

  • Why do i get quicktime error -50 everytime i try to export a project?

why do i get quicktime error -50 everytime i try to export a project?

I had this -50 error when exporting my movie. I tried multiple things to fix that, when I discovered the solution.
When you insert/add/overwrite a clip into the timeline, sometimes FCPX does not generate the vignettes associated to the video (only the audio waveforms are correctly displayed). You can read the clip successfully, apply effects and do everything with it in the timeline, but when exporting this corrupted clip, the -50 error will occur. The solution is then to remove this clip and add it again (it should not bug twice on the same clip!).
So I do not know whether you are in the same situation, but I hope this could help.

  • IMovie Export to QuickTime Error 2002

Hi, I am trying to export a project through the QuickTime option in >Share but every time after hte completion of the export, I get this error message 2002 (I think it was 2002 - I stupidly dismissed the window before seeing the number).
Anyone has any idea what's wrong? I export seamlessly to iTunes though.

I've seen the same error reported earlier tonight on this forum. Error -50 is a user parameter error and is likely associated with trying to write illegal characters to a non HFS formatted disk, would this make any sense to you in your present workflow.
Actually I see your error is a 50 (not a -50) or is that a typo. That's a networking error, which doesn't make any sense to me at all unless you are trying to write to a network device which has been removed and I was of the opinion im08 doesn't work over a network, indeed doesn't even give the option to try.

  • QuickTime error when exporting from FCP 4.5 - Compressor

I'm still on Final Cut Pro 4.5, waiting to get money for a hardware upgrade before I can move to FCP 6, etc.
I have upgraded to QuickTime Pro 7.2.
This setup worked fine until today.
I selected a sequence in FCP and tried to Export to Compressor (the source material was NTSC MiniDV video footage in FCP) using an MPEG-4 Fast Cable Streaming 320x240 export setting. I used this setting successfully to export a very similar project only last week. This evening when I tried exporting via Compressor the attempt failed, and Batch Monitor's log noted a "QuickTime Error -50". I tried this repeatedly this evening, and it produced the same results even after restarting the machine.
I'm baffled by this. I had no such problem last week.
    Any clues?

there's also reports of incompatibility with compressor3:
