Export versions based on folder content

Hello
I've a folder on my Mac with about 3500 pictures in it - I'd like to re-export all those pictures from Aperture - what I was wondering is whether there is a way to basically create a file list with all the pictures in that specific folder on the Mac and pass that list somehow to Aperture to make the selection of the images that need to be exported again.
Hope the community has some ideas - thanks

Yes it is possible but you will need to do this as an Applescript.  It's not to bad as long as the file names of images on your HD correspond to the name of the image in Aperture.
You would first go through the folder making a list of the file names and then have the script tell Aperture to export the images. Or possibly doing it one at a time, get the first file name and have Aperture export it. Hard to say which way would be best without knowing more about the situation.
Also is this a one time thing or will it be ongoing?

  • Export based on folder content

Hello  I've a folder and sub-folders on my Mac with about 3500 pictures in it - I'd like to re-export all those pictures from Aperture - what I was wondering is whether there is a way to basically create a file list with all the pictures in those specific folders on the Mac and pass that list somehow to Aperture to make the selection of the images that need to be exported again.   Hope the community has some solutions - thanks

If the versions you exported are named by their version name it would be possible to create an Applescript that would first get the names of the files and then call Aperture and export those images again.
If the version names were changed on export it will be a lot more difficult or possibly impossible to do this.
One other difficulty will be setting up the export preset that you want to  use. Were all these images all exported with the same preset?
How were the images organized in Aperture? Is there no identifying feature that would let you find  these 3500 images in Aperture? There is a smart folder rule under Photo Usage - Has been exported, perhaps you could use this along with some other rule to find the images in Aperture?

  • Help with exporting forms based data to Excel 2007

I have a user who is attempting to export forms based data to Microsoft Excel 2007 and when he attempts this he receives a message stating that Windows does not recognise this file type (tsv). I am not too familiar with Office 2007 so I am unable to direct this users as to how to correct this issue.
Is someone able to give me the navigation path to help me to assist this user? thanks

Did you verify the file type from Windows Explorer?
    1) Right click on My Computer > Explore
    2) Go to Tools > Folder Options
    3) Click on File Types tab
    4) Check if TSV file is defined there or not. If it is not there, click on New and add the File Extension

  • Poor image quality on exported version

I am trying to export versions of my photos to a folder on my external drive. Every time I do this the resulting jpg is washed out and has poor resolution + a ton of noise. The resulting image is substantially lighter than the images in my aperture window, yet the histogram does not indicate that the images should be that light or washed out.
The images are all starting as RAW images. The export settings are for image quality 12, 300 dpi, sRGB, original jpg. I have onscreen proofing turned on and set to sRGB. My print lab said that the image quality could be 10, but when they looked so horrible I bumped them up.
I had Aperture for a long time before upgrading to Aperture 2 in March. From March to August I did not have any problems, so this is a more recent problem. I have not yet upgraded to Snow Leopard. Please help!!! Thanks!!!

    Hi
    a. make a DiskImage first and test this with Apple DVD-player.
(File menu and down "Make a DiskImage")
    b. I only use streamingDV - no .m4v or like (may be it works - I don't know)

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides. Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named.
    com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iDVD.
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
    • Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
    • Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !

  • Can't export versions and other issues

    Background.
I installed a SSD inplace of my Mac HD.  Moved the Mac HD to the superdrive bay.
I have the OSX operating system on the SSD and my home folder on the Mac HD.
I used system preference to point the operating system to the new home folder location.
Everything seemed to be OK untill I started looking deeper.
In Aperture I was able to open all of my libraries.  Everyting looked ok.  Testing further thought I discovered that I can't create a new library or export versions.
In mail I can't attach files.
I also can't log onto this forum.  I know the username and passowrd are correct.  Even before this I could never sign in on another device. So I doubt this is related to my self inflicted issues.
I have deleted plist, ran some mainetence items with ONYX, and repaired permissions.  No joy from any of those attempts.
I created another user and Apple ID ( that's how I got back on here) .
Using the new user every issue seems to be resolved.
Because things are ok with the second user I am thinking a re-install ( Mtn Lion  or Aperture ) may not help.  That was going to be my next move.
I could move my home folder back to the startup volume, but the Aperture libraries would be too large to fit, even though the libraries are referenced I seem to have a lot of GB for each library, like 35 GB for 10,000 pictures. My thumbnails are set to very near max quality and the resolution is more than 1920 x 1080.  ( I am not sure right now what my 27 " Cinema Display is )
If I were to move the Aperture libraries out of the home folder first, then relocate the home folder back to the SSD, would I be able to access them if they are outside the normal structure?

In Tiger, all mobile accounts synchronize by default. WGM allows you to change the current settings only. To turn off sync, manage both background and periodic sync "Always" and then use a empty table of sync items. Syncing is thus stopped.
To stop syncing an unmanaged mobile account, delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.homeSync.plist and ~/Library/Mirrors/*.
Simutaneous login prevention is really a per-home directory feature so it does not work for mobile accounts. See http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1733887#1733887

  • Bookmark drag down list difficulty-folder contents overlay folder list

Previous Firefox versions: Bookmark folders drag down in column list, contents of each folder appear in column to right of the folder list, similar to arrangement of an outline page with each subcategory tabbed over.
New version: Contents of folders appear as I scroll down through the folder column, preventing me from seeing the next folder in column. E.G. As I scroll down past "Business" to get to my "Travel" folder, contents of business folder open on top of the main folder column preventing me from dragging down further to Travel.

I do agree. Mine is not *perfectly* fixed neither. When the folder’s contents list is wide and contains subfolders, the cursor needs to go completely above or below those subfolder’s contents to be released from displaying it. I can readily imagine how yours is not practical.
But mine is decent enough that I am going to live with it for now, hoping that the prior functionality (which is normal behavior IMO) is restored in an upcoming release.
Trying to describe this gives me a newfound appreciation for those who practice the craft of technial writing.

  • Export versions into project

For a set of photos I want to be able to change the color profile from Adobe RGB to sRGB, then upload them into MobileMe, email them to friends, etc.
I'm trying to find the most efficient way to do this. Ideally I would select the photos, then export them to a new or existing album, and change the color profile during export. After export to the album, I could do some sharpening and upload to MobileMe or web, email, etc.
I am having trouble doing this, as I cannot find out how to export versions into an album. I believe AP only allows me to export into a project / folder. With this approach, I believe I will have multiple files of the same photo, which is not my preference.
Can I export versions into an album? If not, how can I have multiple versions of the same file - one with AdobeRGB, the other with sRGB?
    Thank you.

    bix106 wrote:
... how can I have multiple versions of the same file - one with AdobeRGB, the other with sRGB?
You can't. You can only change the color space on export or by round tripping to another application and changing it there. Either method involves creating a new master of the image. AFAIK there is no way to assign a different color space within Aperture.
It's really a moot point though: images are automatically converted to sRGB when uploaded to MobilMe, and you can set the export settings (in Preferences) to anything you like when using Aperture's email function. So you don't need multiple versions (in this case masters) in your library in order to accomplish your goal.

JnlpDownloadServlet(4): lastModified: 1133794820000 Mon Dec 05 10:00:20 EST 2005If I remove the version= tag from the main jnlp file, everything loads fine, but there is no versioning. I have also tried to remove the version.xml file from the package and change my jar files to use file based versioning, but that didn't work either. I rebuilt my jar files with the __V1.0 extension and the complaint was that it couldn't load the resource totalvu.jar. Well, ya, it is now named totalvu__V1.0.jar! Again, versioning is being ignored. The double underscore and V was not recognized as anything special.
The servlet is running long enough to spit out a log file, no errors. It looks like it succesfully processed the jnlp files, but there is no indication of any versioning.
Doe the jnlp.jar and jardiff.jar files need to be included in the lib folder in the .war file? I am only including the jnlp-servlet.jar. They were not referenced in the example war file in the documentation, but I have seen them referenced in older doc for other app servers. I did try including them, but it made no difference of course. Guess this question is just a housekeeping question.
Does anyone have any insight on this problem?
I am at the point where I think I would like to get the source and debug through it to see what is going on, but that should be unecessary.

Thanks. I had the same problem.
As danrak suggests, just add this to your web.xml file to parse .jar and/or .zip file extensions:
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>JnlpDownloadServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>*.zip</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-mapping>
    <servlet-name>JnlpDownloadServlet</servlet-name>
    <url-pattern>*.jar</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>

  • Export Versions not in viewer

When I export and save a new version of a vile how come I can't see it in the viewer? Do i have to reimport it or am I missing a setting?

One good workflow with Aperture is to export Versions when needed, _and get rid of them_.  The Aperture Library is your repository of your Images.  If you need another shareable file of an Image, export it anew.
This shouldn't be taken as inviolable.  I regularly create framed Image "post-cards" that I for emailing.  I create these by exporting using the BorderFX plug-in, and I put them all in a Finder folder called "Images for emailing".  (I have assigned a Finder "Folder Action" to auto-create a new message from each file that goes into this folder.)  I do leave these there.  They are relatively small files, and I regularly re-use them once or twice.  When I want to see what's in that Finder folder, I simply view it in Finder using the "Show as Icons" view.   (Note that if I didn't want the border {and watermark}, there are simpler ways to email Images.)

  • Exporting vector based images

What is the best way of exporting vector based images from Flash so I can open it in Illustrator?
I frequently design basic vector graphics in Flash as I find manipulating shapes much easier and intuitive. Now with the upgrade I am finding this impossible to save out and it has really slowed down my progress.
Is there anyway whatsoever in achieving this as Flash is, after all a brilliant vector based programme?
    Best regards,
    Sam

    Hi Sam-Rios,
SVG export is a Work in Progress for exporting out vector content from Flash CC and would be usable in Illustrator as well. This would be available with the next major update to be released shortly.
For now, you may try out a third party SVG exporter for Flash Pro:

    Hope this helps!

  • Missing caption metadata in Export Version

I have a new Canon SX260. When I export version from Aperture 3.3.2, caption info isn't included in the exported file. Location and EXIF are included. Exported versions from my older Canon S2IS and from my iPhone do have caption info.  I can export the metadata into a text file OK. Export preset has "include Metadata" checked. I would expect that Aperture creates a new JPEG with space for all the metadata even if the original file didn't have the space.  Any suggestions to getting the caption included in the exported version?

In a separate thread, this solution was provided.  Now all the captions that I exported show up int he caption field when I re-import the photos.
Re: Exports Don't Include IPTC/Copyright Info
Nov 8, 2012 6:39 AM (in response to jas)
I had jpg (not raw) images in Aperture from both a Nikon D5100 and a Nikon AW100. I added captions to the images and then exported them as jpegs. The D5100 jpgs show the caption under Preview, the AW100 jpg do not.
I found a work-around using the free program exiftool (google it) and Terminal.
In terminal I changed to the folder which contained my AW100 images and then entered this command to re-write all the IPTC data.
    exiftool -iptc:all= -tagsfromfile @ -all:all -unsafe  ./

when I try to export a photo to my desktop I get the followiing error message "Export Versions Complete with Errors" any ideas why?

Have you tried to export different images as a test to see if it is related to the one you are getting the error on? Also try to export to a different folder other then the Desktop, again to see if the problem is connected to that folder.
Another thing to do is run the Aperture Library First Aid on the library. Hold the option and command keys down while you start Aperture. First run the Permission Repair and see if that helps. If not quit Aperture and restart and run the Library Repair and try.
Post back if you still have problems

  • Cannot export versions

Using latest version (3.5.1) of Aperture on Mavericks, all latest updates installed on MBP Mid 2012, export versions stopped working completly after succesfuly exporting cca 1500 images.
Originals I'm trying to export are RAWs (Canon EOS60D .CR2, latest firmware on the camera), referenced images on local drive.
Have tried different locations for export, fixing permissions on Aperture Library, reboot the machine, nothing helped. Have tried multiple and single image export. Wouldn't suspect low memory, 16GB installed.
I'm trying to export full size JPGs with into custom folder name with version filename. Have tried on several aperture libraries, none works. I'm stuck
Searching console for "Aperture" shows following message:

Thanks in advance for any idea on how to make export verions work again.

You seem to have already tried a lot of the right things.
You didn't mention 'Repair Database' so I would try that option next (as always, ensure you have a good backup). 'Repair Database' is accessed from the same screen as 'Repair Permissions.
If that option doesn't help then, my next step would be to test it with a new user account.
First creat the new account from system preferences.
Then log out of your current user account and log in with the new one.
Run Aperture from that account (you'll get a new empty library so will have to import a few photos).
What this lets you do is see if the issue is system-wide (for all users, even though you may be the only user) or thw issue is localised to your account.
If it still doesn't work with that new account, it's probably system wide. If it does work, the problem is localised to your user account, and there are additional troubleshooting steps you can follow, like removing presets and preferences. See HT3805 for trouble shooting basics and how to preform these.
The fact that it stopped working after such a large export is possibly interesting. Exported versions is a peice of metadata that Aperture tracks, so it's easy to imagine how a small glitch may have caused a number of problems. However, repair database should sort any minor database problems out.
Have you rebooted your machine since that export? Perhaps a temporary chache needs clearing.

  • Viewing 'deploy to web' folder content on computer

Hey everyone.  I have been having this problem for the past few days and finally got an answer from the Adobe help line.  But, adninjastrator helped me a lot, too!  I wanted to post the solution on here for anyone who might have problems with this in the future.
Basically, I thought I had a glitchy version of Flash Catalyst because I couldn't view my 'deploy to web' folder contents on my computer.  The video I would upload onto it just wouldn't play, like there was no video there, just the videoplayer skin.  Well, apparently you can only view your 'deploy to web' files once you publish everything to a server.  Here's a copy of the thread I had in Flash about this.  Hope it helps people in the future!
Adobe called me back late afternoon yesterday.  They said that there is no way you can view the 'deploy-to-web' files straight from a computer.  They said that you HAVE to upload it to a server in order to view it.  I've never heard of that for other video and web applications.  That's so odd...  So I wasn't expecting anything like that at all.  I told them that it would probably be a good idea to make that much more apparent to people since most of us like to test our content BEFORE we upload it.  The uploading process takes long enough.  We don't want to spend all that time uploading and then see that something doesn't work right.  Hopefully they make that apparent in the future.  But he did give me instructions on how to access a local server just using your computer, not going to a free website hosting company or anything.
Here are the instructions on how to access your local host on the computer.  This has to be done using a Windows computer or a Windows partition like I have.  I don't know the instructions on how to do it for a Mac.  I hope these instructions make sense and help you, motvsonofjack.

Click box beside it (Options selected after clicking plus button should be 'Web Management Tools' and 'World Wide Web Services')- Open Internet Explorer and type in address bar: localhost to check if server is working- Go to Computer/Local Disk (C:)/inetpub/wwwroot- Create new folder here and name it whatever you want (ex. deploy)- Paste files into this folder (ex: Flash Catalyst 'deploy-to-web' folder contents)- Go to Internet Explorer and type in address bar: localhost/nameofcreatedfolder(ex:deploy)/main.html(or whatever file you want to play) - Website should run

    Hi there,
I can view your swf under http://www.skribblz.com/Main.swf (although it looks to be just a background).
http://www.skribblz.com/index.html is still your old page.
What you'd normally do to modify your webpage, is:
Copy the contents of the deploy-to-web folder, to the public-html folder.
Verify that yourdomain/Main.html, and yourdomain/Main.swf both load correctly
    Delete index.html.
    Rename Main.html to index.html
You should not rename the swf.

  • How do I export versions to a memory stick

    Hi
I said that I would do a wedding for a friend, although know I wish I had not and just stuck to Landscape photography.
He is going to require the adjusted version, "i believe" so, all I want to do is export adjusted versions, possibly masters to a DVD or Memory stick but I can find nothing that actually tells you how to do this.
I hope someone can explain how to do this as I cannot afford to make a mistake.
    Thanks

Will he be able to use a memory stick formatted for  Mac, OS X Extended.
He will not be able to read a stick formatted for Mac. Use the filesystem that the stick will come preformatted with. That will usually be a file system that both mac and Windows systems can write to.
Just avoid long filenames with ethnic characters, when you are naming the files.
The memory stick will be better than a CD/DVD.
    To elaborate on Frank's answer:
    Insert the USB stick:
Select the images you want to export in the Browser .
Use File > Export > Versions
Select your USB stick in the file chooser.
For the highest quality use "Jpeg > Original size" (or" tiff > Original size")
Select a naming scheme in the export dialog.
    Export.
If you want to write several USB sticks, you may want to export to a folder on your Desktop and copy this folder to each stick using the Finder.
