Export versions with ratings (IPTC)

Hi,
Is there any way to export versions with included ratings (stars in IPTC)? They are absent on versions export but are included only in XMP sidecar with exporting originals.
I would need ratings exactly in exported versions. Maybe there are some apple scripts or automator actions?
Thanks!

Hmmm...
Hm... when I rate photos in iViewMedia Pro or Lightroom they export (or embed) ratings in IPTC just fine.
and
It is rating field. If you'll look into jpeg you can clearly see: <xap:Rating>5</xap:Rating>
You’re right. It is a Ratings Field. But it’s not an IPTC field, that’s an XMP field. There is no IPTC ratings field.
As this page clearly lays out:

  • Exporting version with metadata

    Hi there,
this is probably an easy question. If I have a file (RAW or JPG), make some changes on it using aperture, including changes in the metadata such as adding tags and possibly GPS data, then how do I export the edited version so that the metadata of the export reflects the changes I have made within aperture?
Currently I command click on the photo and ask to "export version". I select the "JPG - original size" option, which, upon inspection, has the box "include metadata" ticked. But the exported file only has the metadata that came from the camera. Keywords are always gone and GPS data is often (?) gone.
Can anybody help me with this?
    Thanks a lot,
    Gil

Apologies. Just found an earlier thread which deals with this bug in aperture:

  • Cannot Export Versions with Aperture 3.3

After upgrading to Aperture 3.3, I lost the ability to Export Versions of my files. Exporting Originals works just fine, but I need to I export jpegs for my work. What I end up getting now is a jpg with a totally black image. The metadata is intact and the size and jpeg format are correct, but the image is just black. I have already tried Repairing Permissions and Repairing the Database in Aperture with no change. I have not yet tried "Rebuild Database" but I do not think that is the problem because I am able to Export images from my Aperture Library files using iPhoto without a problem. Please help.

I am exporting with a preset that I have set up. Here are the settings:
    Image Format: JPEG
    Image Quality: 10
Size To: Fit Within (Pixels) Width 1024 Height 683
    DPI: 132
    (No Gamma Adjust)
    Color Profile: Use Source Profile
    (Black Pint Compensation NOT CHECKED)
    (Show Watermark NOT CHECKED)
Okay, the good news is that I tried other settings and it worked. Tiff works just fine and exporting the preset jpeg setting (full size, half size) works just fine. I then deleted the export setting mentioned above and created a new one, but it does not work.
So, I am almost there. I appreciate your suggestions so far as some of them worked. Any more ideas?

  • Export Version with Master date/hour file

    Hi,
I did some modifications on some RAW files and i'd like to export them as JPG because it takes less space...but when i export it, it doesn't keep the RAW medatada, i mean, i'd like to keep the original date of when the picture was taken...is it possible ??
    Thanks for your help !

If you're looking at the date in Finder, Finder reports the date of the file not the imge in the file. To get the image capture date you need to look at the EXIF data.

  • Control metadata at exported versions

how to export versions with iptc annonations but without exif camera data.
it’s only possible to choose between export with or without metadata, but not to control which metadata is included in the exported version.
sometimes i prefer if clients don’t see my camera exif infos.
hope there’s a solution in aperture. sure i could contoll it afterwards with other software, but it should be possible in aperture.

Same problem here. In one project 4 out of 33 pictures were completely off the mark. The common factor seems to be that the corrupted images had been cropped, and Aperture messed up the area to crop at export time. Exporting them individually afterwards worked fine. Exporting two other projects with non-cropped images worked fine.
As this is the kind of processing I intended to use Aperture for, it is very annoying to say the least. I was about to buy the non-trial version tomorrow, but I now hesitate a lot - especially as I have not got any answer to my question in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1402056&tstart=0 , which potentially could have achieved similar things using AppleScript.
Did anyone log a bug report for this yet?

  • Exporting Versions to image with meta data

Hey folks, I'm looking to find an Aperture Plugin that will export processed images (versions) with all its associated meta data in XML format.
I intend to use this exported data in a custom application - I've seen export plugins to Picasa, and others, but so far they just seem to handle the images alone.
Can anyone suggest a location to where I might find such a beast? (or is anyone in development of this? - I'm very surprised it isn't included as a built-in feature.
    Thanks in advance,
    Ted

Has anyone had success with Ubermind's Aperture to FileMaker?
I've had it work once or twice, but usually, despite rigorously following their apparently simple instructions, Aperture refuses to recognize the database.
Would be pleased to know if there's something they haven't been clear about in their instructions.

    Ernie-
Thanks for responding...but still have a oroblem. Here's what I'm doing:
In Aperture I choose a "version" that has been Adjusted (croped, etc.).
    - Go to "File"...'Export"..."Version"
    - In next window for "Export preset" I choose "JPEG-Fit within 1024x1024"
    - Click on "Export version"
The exported version then showes up in "Finder" under "Pictures"
    - Next I open "Mail" (version 5.2)
    - Adderss email to friends in England.
    - Click on attachment (paper clip)
    - Choose my "version" from "pictures"
    - Back in Mail, click on "Format"..."Make Plain Text"
    - Send
My friends receive it as "bmp", not JPEG, with no Metadata.
If I do the same procedure but under "File" choose "Export Master", they receive it as JPEG and also the Metadata.....BUT, of course, no Adjustments, such as croping, that were made to the "Version".
What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to save the "Version" as a "Master" and then send it as a "Master"?
    Thanks,
    Nelson

  • When I try to export a photo to my desktop I get the followiing error message "Export Versions Complete with Errors" any ideas why?

when I try to export a photo to my desktop I get the followiing error message "Export Versions Complete with Errors" any ideas why?

Have you tried to export different images as a test to see if it is related to the one you are getting the error on? Also try to export to a different folder other then the Desktop, again to see if the problem is connected to that folder.
Another thing to do is run the Aperture Library First Aid on the library. Hold the option and command keys down while you start Aperture. First run the Permission Repair and see if that helps. If not quit Aperture and restart and run the Library Repair and try.
Post back if you still have problems

  • Versions with unavailable master files cannot be exported.

Anybody a good idea how to sorting this out?
All the files are in pictures folder, i see the preview in A3. but I have the red line across the symbol in R lower corner on all the pictures.
I have tried the 3 different steps to try fix A3.
The full error message i get if I try to export or do anything with my pictures.
"Versions with unavailable master files cannot be exported.
The selected master image is either offline or not found. Please reconnect it and try again."
I have recently exchanged HD and upgraded to Snow Leopard.
    HELP...

Hi,  I cannot export some of my photos either as i get a message saying they are offline & i must reconnect them.
So i have followed your instructions however the file status 'missing' option draws a blank.. if i change the rule to 'offline' i do seem to get all the files that I am currently unable to export.
then i do your last instruction:
Run "File→Locate Referenced File". Reconnect all.
I can now see the located files in the top window box but when i click 'done' it doesn't do anything & the options for reconnect all are blank.. see image..
Is there anything else i can do?

  • Versions with unavailable original files cannot be exported.

I have imported some photos into Aperture and worked on them, exported some etc. but when I disconnected the memory card I realized I had the yellow triangle and I was not able to export the photos and had this message: Versions with unavailable original files cannot be exported.
When I re-connected the memory card the the yellow triangle disappeared and I was able to work with the images.
How can I get rid of the triangle without having to connect the memory card?
"Locate referenced files" command didn't work.
Please speak slowly as I am not super technical! :-)

In the Import dialogue, you apparently have selected to store originals in their current location -- not a good plan when they are on a memory card.  Select where you want them in the future.
With this particular card mounted, you should be able to take the originals into the Aperture Library, and if desired, later move them to be referenced.

  • Exporting Images With Only Specific Metadata

How do I export images from Aperture with only specific metadata. Example: I want to export my images with only the copyright IPTC metadata (and maybe the keywords or contact info etc., but I don't want the world to see the EXIF data.
Aperture manual (page 507 I think) says to do this I need to make a separate version with only the metadata I want to appear. Er right? How does one do that then Apple!? I know how to make another version by the way, but how can I switch off/strip the exif, but keep the IPTC? Surely the monment I tick the include metadata checkbox in the Export panel and hit go this EXIF data will be inserted as it is inherent with the file?
    Can anyone enlighten me please?
    Kevin

Time to hit the Aperture feedback page. If you include metadata, you include the EXIF data.
About all you could do is export with no metadata, import the new 'stripped' file and then lift-n-stamp the IPTC data onto it, then export that.

  • Rating in exported versions

I live with "portable library" which is exported JPEG up to 1024 pt- so I can hold
above 8000 pictures eaten just something like 3 GB.
I do not know if is possible by exporting versions to extra file ( out of Aperture)
to have available for import again into Aperture in PB 12".
This is extra job rewrite ratings. I am exporting just From 3* to 5*.
If publisher wants to sent an offer - is simple prepare selection.
Another qustion I have : selecting "smart albums" by keywords i cannot search
within album by anorther keyword. For example album" deer" and I want lo find pictures from winter every picture has season described.
    Thank you

    linus,
just to be able to compare our observatiions on EXIF - what is your Aperture version? And how did you export, with "File > Export" (the original or an edited version), and which format - tiff, jpeg?
Exporting an edited version of a Canon raw image as jpeg, and reimporting to Aperture will preserve all EXIF tags, that are visible in Aperture, at least, that is what I am seeing in Aperture 3.4.5. The only changed tag is the "Software" tag.
After reimporting an exported jpeg I am seeing these EXF-tags in Aperture, exactly the same as before, including Camera Make and Camera Model:
Looking at the exported image file  with Preview's Inspector, I am seeing the lens in the EXIF section of the Inspectore panel, and the Camera Make in the "TIFF" section of the Inspector panel.

  • Missing caption metadata in Export Version

I have a new Canon SX260. When I export version from Aperture 3.3.2, caption info isn't included in the exported file. Location and EXIF are included. Exported versions from my older Canon S2IS and from my iPhone do have caption info.  I can export the metadata into a text file OK. Export preset has "include Metadata" checked. I would expect that Aperture creates a new JPEG with space for all the metadata even if the original file didn't have the space.  Any suggestions to getting the caption included in the exported version?

In a separate thread, this solution was provided.  Now all the captions that I exported show up int he caption field when I re-import the photos.
Re: Exports Don't Include IPTC/Copyright Info
Nov 8, 2012 6:39 AM (in response to jas)
I had jpg (not raw) images in Aperture from both a Nikon D5100 and a Nikon AW100. I added captions to the images and then exported them as jpegs. The D5100 jpgs show the caption under Preview, the AW100 jpg do not.
I found a work-around using the free program exiftool (google it) and Terminal.
In terminal I changed to the folder which contained my AW100 images and then entered this command to re-write all the IPTC data.
    exiftool -iptc:all= -tagsfromfile @ -all:all -unsafe  ./

We are experiencing the same issue as reported in the sticky thread. I answered in that thread, but thought that I woudl open a new thread to keep track of this issue.  I can give you the responses to your questions you have requested in that thread:

"Invalid export DLL or export format" with Crystal Reports 2008
Posted: Sep 27, 2008 12:36 AM       E-mail this message      Reply
I've included this sticky because we are seeing many posts in this forum regarding the error Invalid export DLL or export format when exporting to Excel and RTF in .NET applications using the Crystal Reports 2008 .NET SDK.
    Issue
Exporting a Crystal Report to Excel or RTF format
.NET application using the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime (version 12.0)
error Invalid export DLL or export format
We've been doing some testing in-house and haven't reproduced this behavior. In order to figure this issue out we will need your help. If you are getting this error please reply to this post with the following information:
    Server Operating System
    Version of the .NET Framework
    How did you deploy?
If you deployed with CRRuntime_12_0_mlb.msi - what was the date of the file and its size?
What is the file version of crpe32.dll on your server? You'll find this in the C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 directory
How many libpng10.dll files are on your system? List all instances.
    Any additional comments
    What We Know
The error invalid export DLL or export format may occur when exporting to Excel and RTF formats in .NET applications utilizing the Crystal Reports 2008 runtime (v 12.0)
Other export formats like Adobe PDF, Crystal Reports, CSV all export with no error
Some customers have resolved this by adding C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 to their environment path variables
This may have something to do with the file libpng10.dll. Both crxf_xls.dll and crxf_rtf.dll are dependent on it.
Thanks in advance for your co-operation. We hope to figure out what is causing this issue soon.

    Hi,
I am also having the same problem, except that I am not using Crystal Report 2008 runtime but the actual Crystal Report 2008 installation on Windows XP SP2 with VS Studio 2005 (VC++). MS .NET Framework 2.0.
Cyrstal Report XIR2 was installed on the same machine but uninstalled before installing Crystal Report 2008.
So only one instance of libpng10.dll and found in C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86
    Crpe32.dll        3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    Crxf_xls.dll       3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    Crxf_rtf.dll         3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    crdb_oracle.dll  3/1/2008 version 12.0.0.683
    libpng10.dll       3/1/2008 version 1.0.30.0             122880 bytes
There is no problem for exporting to pdf, html, word, csv, Crystal Report. If I create a testing report without any data from database, the testing report can then be exported also to rtf and xls.
Oracle 11.1.0.6 is the DB for the reports.
Adding C:\Program Files\Business Objects\BusinessObjects Enterprise 12.0\win32_x86 to the path did not resolve my problem.
Any idea to fix this issue?
    Thanks

  • Error "Failed to Export PDF" with big image on CS6 (32) and CC (64)

    Hi everyone,
I'm on indesign CS6 (v8.0.2) and when I try to export pdf with a very big image ( *.tiff, 25000*35000 pixels, ) , the action failed with this message :" Failed to export a PDF".
To be sure that there is no any corrupted elements, I made a very simple layout (one page , and just one element for my image,I turnoff prefilgth and all  ressource intensive options, and export with no downsampling or resampling) and try to export with different size image:with 20000*30000 -or smaller -image the export works, always failed with image .The export failed to in scripting mode.
If I diveded my image in four , the export works but this solution is not convenient (I actually made tests for a fully automatised process, and we want to be sure that the indesign  component is  enough "safe")
I try the same action with an evaluation version of indesign CC 64 bits (v9.2) and have the same behavior.
I can imagine that there is a memory issue there, but my config seems to be strong ( windows server 64 with  16GB ram, DD with more than 100GB free). I don't undersant why-in a "full" 64 bit environnement- it is not possible to manipulate and export very large image ?
I'm wonder If the background task is a part of the problem, and if it 's possible to disable it in CS6 or CC as in cs5 ( creates an  “DisableAsyncExports.txt” file in  Adobe InDesign executable directoty don't seems to disable it  in CC or CS6).
Thank you for your help and good ideas..
    DC.

this is a .tif (not a "big"tiff) compressed in LZW or ZIP.
I just tried with another format (png), the error is the same...
