How can I keep the design of my slide, and avoid this message when exporting to powerpoint. I have to save it as powerpoint because the computer im presenting the presentation to in class has powerpoint.
Export Warning - Masking with shapes isn’t supported in the chosen file format. The image was cropped using the mask. (Master slides: Photo - Horizontal, Photo - 3 Up, Photo - Vertical, Bullets, Blank)

I'm afraid you're not going to like the answer. The only way to avoid this warning is to avoid doing anything in KN which PP can't do, or does differently. And it's not always predictable or easy to do that, since, after all, they're two entirely different programs. Though they're both for the same task, they're designed differently, by different people using different concepts, algorithms and coding. KN and PP are no more the same as a Ford is the same as a Chevy. The real surprise is that so much is exportable, not that some things aren't.

When I try to export as a word document, I get an export warning.

When I export my document on pages as word document, I get a export warning saying "Merge fields were exported as regualar text, not as merge fields". What does that mean and what do I do? It won't let me open it up on a pc. Please help!

Merge fields are the places where Pages is substituting information in the text from your Address Book or Numbers. Commonly this is Address information. As it says, because Word does not understand these objects, they are changed to just text.
When it won't open on the PC what message do you get and it would be helpful to know what version of Pages, OSX and Word you are working with.

when i export, warning pops up "unable to export winapi error 2" but i go to my download site and the photo downloaded? plus during export the eport bar does not work.

Excel Export warning:verify file is not corrupted or is from a trusted sour

I'm using Apex 3.1 under CentOS 5 with 11G and Oracle HTTP server, also with Oracle BI publisher 10.1.3.3.2 under Windows server 2003.
The Oracle BI installation got all the default settings. Print under Apex is working, with PDF, EXCEL, RTF except Excel export with a minor but annoying warning
message like: "
The file you are trying to Open, 'Top100-customer.xls' is in a different format than specified by the file extension, Verify the file is not corrupted or is from a trusted source before opening this file. Do you want to open this file now? "
then if I choose YES(default is NO), everything OKs. I get the same message even I save the file locally then open it. This is annoying to our users because they get such warning everytime they try export Apex to Excel file. Did I miss something in Oracle BIP setting Or did I miss something in Apex setting? the data and export are working, just with this extra unwanted warning.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Your answer is exactly right, it's EXCEL 2007 thing, not Apex or BIP thing.
We have no control on user's registry settings, so from today on I just tell our customers "it's MS's fault" :)

IBooks Export Warning: iOS doesn't support the font "Lucida Grande."

Why am I getting this warning? I have checked my iBook and I have not used this font.

Have you pasted in text from another document?
IF so it may help to know..... if it was in the miscreant font, although you see letters, the code that produced the original document .. When pasted ..can still hold snips of data relevant to the font but unused by iBA.
iBA reports on not the content you see, but what its found in the data/coding. If you preview or export and open in iBooks, I doubt you will find any corrupt or missing text.

Export "Warning" message

I’m using the export command/function to create a .pdf file, and I’m getting this “Warning” dialogue box:
“There is overset text on these pages”
Does this mean the file will automatically have printing/other problems? Or is it a generic phantom message?
As I understand it, offset printing will be used.

I had this warning message too, but could not find any text box with a red plus sign indication. I finally figured out where the offending "empty" text box was on my page by pressing
Object -> Select -> Next Object Below or "CTRL + ALT + ["
repeatedly to highlight every object on my page, one at a time. Ultimately in my case, an empty box I created by accident some during the early design was highlighted with the red plus sign. Deleting this object fixed my problem.

PDF export Warning

I am getting a warning that reads
"The PDF document contained image masks that were not downsampled."
My PDF file sizes are quite large no matter what settings I use. Why would I be getting this error and how could I change my document to help reduce the size?

A warning re exporting from Pages to Word

I am glad for germantownmark (on 4th February) that he was able to resolve the exporting of a Pages document to Word and that in the event he did not need Fruhulda's help.
However, I wish to point out that Exporting from Pages is not necessarily always successful.
In particular the exporting of MathType expressions is as yet unsuccessful. Although the main text will be OK the MathType will appear a seeming miles above the line of text. Which is unacceptable.
(An "Export Warning" first appears which contains the words "Exported Math Type Equations can't be edited". And then one can see the outcome for oneself when the resulting Word document is opened...)
I became aware of this problem ages ago and notified Apple Support - and have been given a case number for it. But so far there has been no update of Pages which eliminates this problem.
NB Because MathType is also accessible elsewhere in iWork09 such an update should be across the board.

Why is it unacceptable ?
Apple never stated that exporting Pages to Word will give an exact replicate of the original.
They just stated that you may export, no lees, no more.

Can KN3 export flash with sound?

I'm working on a presentation in KN2 and I need to export a .swf file with sound on each slide. I know I can export to Quicktime with sound, but I'm working with another company that only accepts a .swf files.
Is this fixed in KN3? Any suggestions on how to solve this in KN2?

ok, I just bought KN3. Opened my KN2 file that has narration on each slide. Saved it in KN3. Exported to Flash with sound.
However at the end I got a error box. "The following problems occurred while trying save document. Export Warning- A media file in slide 1 was not exported" This error occurred with all of my slides.
My audio files were recorded in Quicktime 7.0 Pro as "mov". Should the audio files be saved as a different format for Exporting to Flash?
Can "kworley" let me know the audio format that worked?

Layout Problems When Exporting to ePub

Hi,
When exporting my document to ePub, I always receive the following errors:
Export Warning - Some style settings, including multiple columns, table styles, and character formatting, aren’t supported. Your document might look different.
Export Warning - Headers and footers aren’t supported and were removed.
First of all, how can I see these on the document? When I look at pages, the layout seems perfect. Please note that I used Baskerville as the font everywhere, didnt use any multiple columns or tables. There are no footers but only some headers.
The main problem I have is with the layout. Some chapters need to start on a new page but instead iBooks puts it at the end of the last page. Please check the picture below as what I mean.
There also is a blank page on the ibooks which I dont know why. It is a single page and it is blank. There are no blank pages on my pages doc...
Also on TOC, I dont see anything like ''Title Page'' on pages but when I export it to ibooks, on top there is this ''title page'' thing. My book will not be in English so is there any way to delete it from TOC?

Export Failed. Failed to write CSV file. HELP!

We are new to Numbers and were able to export a csv file of our data earlier.
Now we get this error when I try to export. I can find no explanation and export attempts fail.
Any ideas? Ultimately, I am trying to export a file of contact e-mail addresses.
Export to PDF works fine.
Export to Excel will work with this error:
Export Warning - Header and footer cells were exported as body cells but will look the same.

Warning: iOS 8 Resized My Images When Exporting Via Image Capture

I have an iPad Air and I take lots of pictures. I installed iOS 8 last night. I don't like the lack of a Photo Stream and a Camera Roll, but I am willing to try new things, so I decided to clear out all the images from my iPad and start from scratch. Unfortunately, I've run into a pretty bad reproducible bug.
First I copied all the Moments (i.e. Camera Roll) Photos on the iPad to my Mac using the Image Capture app. I've been doing this for years. Everything came out fine with those photos.
I also had several iCloud shared albums so I decided to start over with them as well. Hmm, how to copy them over to my Mac? I tapped one picture and tapped "Share -> Save Image". OK that worked! So to save some time I tapped "Select" and then tapped all the pictures in the folder. Once again I tapped "Share -> Save 20 Images". Worked fine. Deleted the shared album. Did this with five other albums. Now everything is clean and I can start figuring out how this works from scratch.
OR SO I THOUGHT. Once the pictures were on my Mac, I realized the pictures I exported one at a time were fine, but the ones I exported in groups came out at odd low resolutions - 257 x 342, 256 x 384, 268 x 332, instead of the full resolution of the original pictures.
Luckily I had copies of all these pictures backed up, but this is not appropriate behavior. There was no warning that the pictures would be saved at a lower resolution. I'm not even sure the Photos app "meant" to do this. Why weren't the full sized images exported? Has anyone else had this experience? Could someone check and see if this is happening on their iPad?

The photos in this thread are the same exported files that are in the slideshow. As you advance through the slideshow(try looking at the shadows to right of the subject and his sunglasses), you'll see a change in tone/saturation that, however subtle, is quite alarming for a consistent workflow.
I always work with calibrated display profiles, and was told by Aperture Pro support to try the export with a standard, device independent profile to rule out a display profile related issue. I told them on the phone that while I'd try it, that would not be a viable solution long term for me, or any other professional, as different screens need to have independent, calibrated profiles for a consistent working environment.
That said, regardless of the display profile(I tried multiple scenarios - including calibrated profiles), the exported file is always the same on the same machines - and as I said before, distinctly unique to each machine. The display profile should have nothing to do with it anyways, as that is simple a translation of the the 'static' data onto a specific screen. I'm not saying the screens look different to me, I'm saying that the exported files are different when viewed together on any one screen.
These are all fresh installs of the same download; no settings in the software have been changed, except for what I've detailed above. The processing of the color/export should be the same from the same file in the same library with the same adjustments and the same software settings, but it's not.
Can anyone try this same test in another environment? Or does anyone know how Aperture might leverage hardware perhaps in it's processing of color?

Warning message when exporting a Financial Report to Excel 2007

Excel 2007 users that attempt to export a fully formatted Financial Report into Excel 2007 get the following error message:
"The file you are trying to open, 'FileName.xls', is in a different format than specified by the file extension. Verify that the file is not corrupted and is from a trusted source before opening the file. Do you want to open the file now?"
I am still researching the behavior that users get when they click through the message, but would ideally like for the message not to appear without updating the client machine registries. Has anybody else run across this?

It looks like this is a known issue addressed in Bug 7359171 - EXPORT TO EXCEL 2007 CAUSES FILE FORMAT WARNING:
The current design does not allow you to open HTML content from a web site in Excel unless the extension of the URL is .HTM/.HTML/.MHT/.MHTML. So ASP pages that return HTML and set the MIME type to something like XLS to try to force the HTML to open in Excel instead of the web browser (as expected) will always get the security alert since the content does not match the MIME type. If you use an HTML MIME type, then the web browser will open the content instead of Excel. So there is no good workaround for this case because of the lack of a special MIME type for HTML/MHTML that is Excel specific. You can add your own MIME type if you control both the web server and the client desktops that need access to it but, otherwise the best option is to use a different file format or alert your users of the warning and tell them to select Yes to the dialog.
Another Workaround :
Client Configuration of Extension Hardening.
Client desktops can change the default behavior of the security check using a registry key. The following registry key can be set to alter the behavior ofthe Excel 2007 client in the following ways:
Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\SecurityValue: (DWORD)"ExtensionHardening" = [0 = Disable check; 1 = Enable check and prompt; 2 = Enable check, no prompt deny open]Default setting if value not present is 1 (enable and prompt).
The client can configure the site to disable the check by setting ExtensionHardening = 0. This will stop the prompt from appearing, but it will also disable any future checks for the file content validity. This does not (in itself) lower your security. The check is part of a defense-in-depth strategy to prevent malicious users from crafting files of a different type than its extension (or MIME type), which could then be used to trick users into opening a file of a type they did not expect. This warning is designed to let the user know of this potential threat and given them an option of canceling the open if they wish.

InDesign CS5 crashes when trying to export a PDF and/or a Warning dialog box appears!

Just bought a new macbook pro 15" non retina the other day and the SAME version of InDesign CS5 that was running on my 2010 iMac is now crashing each time I get a Warning dialog box and/or try exporting a PDF?!??!?! How was this NOT an issue before and now is??? Running the same Lion 10.7.4 as well....
Holding the alt key while deleting a page does help it not prompt the warning dialog box, but no help to exporting a pdf...
So guessing this is a Apple issue and we need an update or??
I am only using Fontbook and have NOT even added any new fonts yet, practically bare bones mac still with just CS5...
What is also weird is that the warning dialog boxes are always BLANK and have no text on them, like there is a font issue??
I've cleared the system font cache, reset InDesign prefs, reset PRAM and NVRAM, re-installed InDesign and updated to 7.0.4...
This is madness....please help me in the name of all that is good.

- power off mac and turn back on while holding down Command + R (dont do it on an external keyboard just to be safe)
- choose the re-install Lion option (I'm sure there is another way to re-install Lion, this is just the way I did it, not saying its the best or only method)
- DO NOT INSTALL MACBOOK (Mid 2012) Software Update 1.0 - THIS SCREWS ADOBE UP!

2. No costing variant exists in controlling scenario CPR0001
3. An error occurred in Accounting (system ID3DEV310)
4. The EXPORT data cluster is too large for the application buffer.
I can create project automatically from cprojects. PLan costs, budget and actuals maintain in WBS elements can be visible in cproject Object Links.
