Exportar MPEG2 en MAC

Hola,

  • Edit Home Movies

I had home movies transfered to DVD from super 8 film. I would like to take the dvd and re-arrange some of the clips. What software do I need to make a perfect copy. I tried Handbreak, but the quality was less than the dvd came out to be. I would be using iMovie to "edit" the clips. Thanks for your help

    Hi brandon,
follow Ivar's advice, it is simple, less huzzle... and quality is not bad, besides you do a digital>analogue>digital conversion...
    for the bravehearted:
get for 20$ the Apple mpeg2 plugin
and for free the tool Streamclip

    http://danslagle.com/mac/iMovie/tips_tricks/6018.shtml
you'll realize some (dramatic) loss in quality, because a video-dvd uses a very lossy compression codec (mpeg2)
your Mac has to "estimate" the content of every frame - and for editing you nedd every frame, but mpegs doesn't store them....

  • MPEG2 codec not working in Final Cut Pro on Mac OSX Tiger

We have been using the File-export-Quicktime Conversion-MPEG2 codec for exporting of files from Final Cut Pro to DVD Studio Pro. On the new mac system that was just bought, the option does not show up.
Currently the system is running Quicktime Pro 7.1.2/ FCP 5 and DVD Studio Pro 4 and it is a new mac system running Mac OSX Tiger.
This problem has happened before on a mac running on an older system, but that was solved by reinstalling FCP and then DVD Studio pro and making sure that the QT Pro was of the latest version.
Right now, we have reinstalled everything the same way, tried installing DVD Studio Pro after, we have also done a full software update of the software over the net.
The codec is still not working, all the macs in the office are supposed to be upgraded to Mac osx tiger, but right now we can't do so, cos then we wouldn't be able to burn any DVDs.
    Please help, thanks.

The installation of QT 7 is the culprit behind the missing MPEG-2 Export Component. But during upgrades, it doesn't always get rid of the file ... probably what happened on your older system when you upgraded to QT 7 or Tiger. Either the new system came with QT 7 preinstalled, therefore not including the Export Component, or if it was upgraded, the upgrade missed it.

  • HD file converts to mpeg2 file on mac mini

I am capturing HD video into Quicktime on an iMac.  I then transfer the HD video file to a mac mini via a cat 6 cable.  On the imac the video shows as an HD file, however when I check the info on the mac mini once it has transfered it says it is an mpeg2 file.  How do I keep it as an HD file?

I do not use Photoshop.....but I checked and it seems that the current version of Photoshop is CS6........so I am guessing you will need a somewhat newer version than you have....to work with Lion...

  • Can't read mpeg2 natively on my mac OSX 10.7.5

So I'm a Video Editor at a college running OSX 10.7.5 with FCP X (yuk). We use a DTE ProHD DR-HD100 (firestore) to store my footage off my JVC HD Camera. The problem is the unit records MPEG2 format for the QT record setting. I end up with hundreds of gigs for a project and running each clip thru Mpeg streamclip or such takes so much time.
Is there a QT MPEG2 componet out yet or a easier workaround for this problem?? I need to run Mpeg2 nativley.
    Thanks in advance

Most people use the direct camcorder import option built into Apple's video editing apps (assuming the camcorder is compatible/recoggnized by the app). For instance, iMovie will import MPEG-2 video by expanding the P- and B-frames to all I-frame video—essentially turing the spatial GOP content to frame editable Motion MPEG temporal video. It also converts the non-editable AC3 audio to Linear PCM (AIFF) and merges it with the video in an MOV file container with start/end time track offsets to minimize the possibility of A/V sync problems. Once, imported in this manner, the files are edit compatible with all QT based computer apps (e.g., QT 7 Pro, QT X, GarageBand, MPEG Streamclip, etc.) on systems with recent versions of iMovie installed.

  • Sony Handycam Mpeg2 won't work on Mac

    Hello
I am hoping you can help me as I recently upgraded to Lion and I can't get my videos from my camcorder to work on my Mac. I have a Sony Handycam DCR-SR100 and before the upgrade (when I had Snow Leopard) I was able to import my vidoes (I think they are mpeg 2) to iMovie and have them look and sound just fine.
But I had issues with my laptop overheating (unrealted to my camera) so the Apple store wiped my laptop clean.  When I got it back I upgraded to Lion and slowly put my system back together. I just tried to use iMovie to view my vidoes on my laptop (from the camera).  I can see them but I can't hear them (there is no audio).
Quicktime won't even recognize them. It's telling me that the files are not supported.
I am running OS 10.7.4 and Quicktime player 10.1
Any help you can provide would be wonderful! I really want to be able to see AND hear my videos on my Mac and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it!
    Thanks
    Alison

Sorry, I should have checked before I answered. Apple lists these camcorders as compatible with imovie...
I don't know why your camcorder no longer works.

  • Adobe Media Encoder Error with MPEG2 Formats [../../src/Command.cpp-2519]

  • Why is Mac Pro 2.66 only 1.3x faster than 2.7 G5 on CPU intensive stuff?

I produce DVDs so my Compressor DVCam -> MPEG2 encoding is the most time consuming task. Take the MacWorld benchmarks, I was dissappointed the QC 2.66 was a third faster than a DC 2.7 G5 running Compressor.
I would have expected almost 2x as fast, basically halving encoding times. The Mac Pro took 107s vs G5 137s only 1.28x as fast OR put another way jobs complete in 78% of the time taken for the G5.
This is key reason for me to have just sold a G5 DC 2.3...but I'm dissappointed with these early indicators. Would it be reasonable to assume Apple have not optimised Compressor for Intel - surely not at this late stage?

    Terpstar,
I was wondering if you have had a chance to use Motion yet. I have a MBP, and using Zapfino fonts with SciFi Glow crashes my system every time. I would be interested to see if this is the case on other intel based systems. This has led to a failure of my main logic board twice over the last month. See my thread:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=614641&tstart=25
Also, of the two GB ram I have installed, FCP doesn't seem to utilize more than 100MB of RAM. Although the VM size is several GB for the app. I noticed that in order to utilize both cores on my MBP, Airport had to be turned off.
Also, as Ned Snowing was saying, there is no doubt that there are going to be many software bugs that must be sorted out. Especially since this program is being adapted for intel macs, and not re-written.

  • IMovie 09 has trouble importing large video files from my JVC HD-40. I am trying to edit files such as these in 09. What should I do? Would buying iMovie 2011 help? I am shooting AVCHD files instead of the other mpeg2 file format.

    Hi,
I am new into the Apple Community. I have a camcorder known as the JVC GZ-HD40 US and I currently am trying to use iMovie 2009 to edit my movies. With my camcorder, I have the choice to use two different video formats: AVCHD or Mpeg2. All my videos are shot in the AVCHD (HD) file format. This camcorder also has a 120 G Hard Drive built into it. When I plug in the camcorder through USB to my MacPro, the Hard Drive of the camcorder shows up as a icon on the desktop. Many of my video clips are at least thirty minutes in length, inside the camcorder. When I try to import in iMovie my video files, it only imports around ten minutes of the video and skips to the end of the clip. I would greatly prefer to use my MacPro desktop to edit movies instead of my Windows 7 computer which seems to work fine. Is there a solution to this problem? Would the new iMovie 2011 application solve this problem? I also have the Final Cut Express to work with, and also, can't get it to work. What should I try doing?

    Hi all,
I have the exact same problem. I've just been to Thailand with my girlfriend, and we recorded a lot of stuff with my brand new Sony HD camcorder. And whenever the we ran out of camcorder memory we just emptied everything onto my HP laptop using the supplied Sony software, which produced m2ts files. When we got home, I realized that my Mac Pro/iMovie09 was not able to import this format. What a huge disappointment! Especially considering the fact that I just bought my mac back in March (my first mac ever) only for video editing and music composing (no problems with music composing, however!).
Well, I needed a solution, so last week I just bought the Voltaic HD converting software (35$), and it works great. No problems. Only thing is that my Mac Pro (quad intel core) had to work 24 hours a day for four straight days/nights in order to finish the converting job - resulting in 434 GB worth of mov-files. This is no problem as such, and the quality is great. BUT it seems rather stupid that this converting has to take place. If I use Sony Vegas on my PC, it works out of the box with my original m2ts-files. And I would really appreciate if Apple would implement a simple import function of m2ts-files in their software - one that would (if necessary) automatically convert the files to mov. Or even better: would work natively with the m2ts-files.
    Best,

  • Opinions of iSkysoft iMedia Converter for Mac?

Looking for a solid, versatile movie converter app that I can use with iMovie. I have use several "free" apps, with varying degrees of satisfaction. iSkysoft iMedia Converter for Mac SEEMS to be very good, but I'm not finding a lot reviews of the Mac version. Can anyone:
    1) Offer opinions of this product, or
    2) Suggest good alternatives

Yes, you have to convert your files to QuickTime first.  That's because your camcorder records MPEG2 clips (from your other discussion thread)  You have to do the conversion no matter what.
MPEG Streamclip has a batch convert option that enables you to convert more than one file at a time.
But merging the clips in MPEG Streamclip or iSkysoft is not particularly useful if it doesn't work properly (out of sync audio, bad video quality ...)
