Exported file is longer than actual podcast.

Every time I export my audio file from Garageband to ACC format, the file is always longer than the audio that is contained in the file. How do I make a 38 second file export as a 38 second file?
Thanks!

You may not have the End of Song marker at the exact end, or have some blank space at the beginning of your project.
You can use the Cycle Region to export the exact length you wish. (Press C and adjust the yellow CR at the top of the Timeline. You may want to zoom in for more accuracy).

  • FCP Export Taking WAY LONGER Than Usual.

Hi there, I've been using Final Cut Pro to edit video from a 1080p Canon Camcorder for the past 10 months, and since last week, whenever I'm done with the editing process and I decide to export the Video in 720p HD with H264 with AAC Audio, the exports take A LOT LONGER than they took before.
It can take up to 2 hours to export a short 3 minute video..
Whereas it USED TO take about only 30 minutes for the same footage before.
Is there anything I'm forgetting, any setting I've accidentally changed or something?
    Please help me out,
    Thank you.
(I'm using FINAL CUT PRO 7)

I still can't figure it out,
a 3 minute long video which was about 300MBs when exported with QuickTime Conversion from FCP7 is now about 1.25 GBs, I don't remember having changed any settings, I've even tried trashing preferences, but still no luck.
*An old video that was shot with the same HD Camcorder which was 3 Minute long video I had exported was 257.9 MB & the total bitrate is 11,715 (EXPORTED FILE)*
*But this file that I'm having size issues with right now is also 3 Minutes long (shot with same camcorder) and the exported file is 1.25 GBs and has a bitrate of 58,693*
These are the QUICKTIME CONVERSION setting I've always used:
    VIDEO:
    Compression: H.264
    Quality: Best
    Key frame rate: 24
    Frame reordering: yes
    Encoding mode: multi-pass
    Dimensions: 1280x720
    SOUND:
    Format: AAC
    Sample Rate: 44.100 KHZ
    Channels: Stereo (L R)
    Bit Rate: 320 kbps
I've been using these same settings before and I haven't changed anything, but the file size has tripled on exports.
    *Sequence Settings:*
    QUICKTIME VIDEO SETTINGS:
    APPLE PRORES 422
    Quality 100%
And btw, I always DO A FULL "RENDER ALL" + "RENDER MIXDOWN" before exporting,
Is there any settings I must make sure haven't changed???
    What is my problem.

  • Can automator identify file names longer than a specified number of characters?

I have a lot of data that I need to ultimately archive to a PC solution but it currently has a lot of files with names longer than 256 characters.  I know I can batch update the names with automator, but what about an easy way to identify them?? Is there a way to identify file names based on file name length?

Not in Automator.  There are other ways but the question is once you have the files what do you plan to rename them. You can't just cut off all the chars above 256 as this will not ensure uniqueness.
So what convention will you use to make the names unique?
As for getting the files. This command run in the terminal will return all filenames over N long
    ls | awk 'length ($0) > N'
    so in your case
    ls | awk 'length ($0) > 255'
So this could be run from an Automator workflow or Applescript to capture the filenames you want to change. But again it's the renaming that is tricky.

  • Exported sequence way longer than storyline

A storyline was created which had 41 minutes of footage in it. This was then edited down into a 14 minute long video.
However, when exported, the video was 41 minutes long.
There are no stray clips in the storyline, and I am not looking at a compound clip. Nor is there a gap clip adding this length and I am not using PluralEyes at all.
The storyline does not even extend to the 41 minute mark; the only way to reach this point is to manually stretch a clip to that length.
I have tried duplicating the project and manually copy and pasting the clips which comprise the sequence into a new project, neither of which has made any difference.
It appears that Final Cut Pro thinks that the sequence itself is 41 minutes long, regardless of how long the clips inside it are (unless I manually extend a clip to longer than this 41 minute mark)
I'm using Final Cut Pro 10.0.3 and Mac OS X 10.7.3

The storyline is a timeline within a project into which footage has been placed to create a sequence. As I understand it, the official name for a timeline in FCP X is 'storyline'.
There are no compound clips on the storyline.
Of the 41 minutes originally placed on the storyline, 27 minutes have been removed in the editing process. The footage was of a 41 minute long conference speech, of which 27 minutes was audience discussion, and was therefore cut out. Thus the original story line was 41 minutes long, but the edited sequence on the story line is 14 minutes long.
The 41 minute long exported video has the edited 14 minute sequence, followed by 27 minutes of plain black. I'm not confusing the Events browser with the storyline. There is a fully-edited sequence which is successfully exported, but with black 'filler' in the exported video, of which no trace can be found on the storyline.
This is an issue with the representation of the timeline in an exported video, rather than a connection between the event browser and the storyline.
Thank you for answering and I hope this additional information is of use to you. The key points are that I'm not confused about how storylines work, or about what the event browser is in comparison, but that there is an exporting issue which I can't understand.

  • Premiere CC 2014 exporting H264 takes longer than Premiere CC ..?

    Hi,
I did some tests with exporting a Apple prores HQ clip of 1 minute with the standard H264 Youtube 1080p setting.
And the results are a bit worrying.
Direct export in Adobe Premiere Pro CC = 1 minute 28 seconds
Direct export in Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2014  = 2 minute 16 seconds
And that's for a clip of one minute ...
    I use  a
    MacBook Pro
    Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013
Processor  2,6 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
    Running OSX 10.9.4
    CUDA Driver Version: 6.0.51
And on my Mac Pro of early 2008,  CC2014 exports slower
Direct export Premiere Pro CC = 2:23
Direct export Premiere Pro CC 2014 = 3:38
In the activity Monitor I see that 'Adobe QT32 server is not responding". Maybe that's got something to do with it?
I have already tried to delete the quicktime components from the library and i have done a clean install of Premiere Pro CC 2014 (terrible name btw).
    Anyone any suggestions? :s
    Jochem

    To add to my quest:
Adobe QT32 server runs fine with After Effects CC 2014. When I export the same footage with AE to H264 it takes 1:28 . So maybe I should use after effects for encoding...
When I send the AE comp to Queue in Media Encoder it takes 3 min 32 to render is. That is in Media Encoder CC because Media Encoder CC 2014 can't open the composition ("comp is empty")
when I put the pores clip directly in AME CC and AME CC2014 it's 1:24 vs 2:16 .
the new version takes almost a minute longer to render a 1 minute clip...

  • Exported movie 2x longer than Slideshow?

My Keynote presentation is just over a minute, and the music synchs perfectly, but when I export it to QuickTime - no matter what I do - it creates a video that's 2:09 long and the music runs out, not to mention it slows everything down to half-speed.  Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong??

The QuickTime export takes the timings of transitions and builds from the export dialogue box settings, it ignores the timings you have made within the presentation. Therefore calculate the timings you will need and enter the amounts in the GoTo Next Slide and Go To next Build. The export does not allow different durations for each slide.
If you need different durations for each slide, add the timings using the record the slide show feature:   Play > Record Slide Show
When exporting, select;     Playback:   Slideshow Recording

  • Datapump: expdp taking considerably longer than exp

does anyone know why datapump export takes considerably longer than the deprecated exp function of oracle?
with few schemes datapump is rather fast. the more schemes you have, the longer it takes for datapump to perform an export. the deprecated exp function however remains fast.
    some statistics i've made:
12 schemes: export takes ~30 seconds
128 schemes: export takes ~60 seconds
152 schemes: export takes ~80 seconds
    328 schemes: export takes ~ 5minutes(!)
after i deleted schemes and reduced the number of schemes to 68, the expdp function became fast again: ~60 seconds.
does anyone have a hint for me about where i can make performance modifications? oracle describes in its documentation that datapump is faster than the deprecated export and that the deprecated exp function shouldn't be used anymore. currently this isn't true and we are at a big disadvantage now, since we are using datapump.
the expdp function "hangs" very long with the following logging output:

  • I can't upload videos longer than 15 minutes

When I go to Share > YouTube I get an error that it can't publish because the file is longer than 15 minutes.
There are YouTube accounts that allow videos longer than 15 minutes, including mine.  It would be great if I could get QuickTime to let me choose Share > YouTube without getting this error.

So QuickTime has the following options for sharing in Yosemite: Mail, Messages, Airdrop, Vimeo. Facebook, Flickr.  You can choose any of these.  I haven't given Apple any credentials to any of the external services (not that I would know where to do that, plus I don't have a Facebook account).
Here are the "Share" options I get under Yosemite:
As far as why QuickTime is checking my account, it isn't. Like I mentioned earlier, when I choose YouTube from the sharing option, it immediately returns an error that videos longer than 15 minutes can't be uploaded to YouTube.
Your system must log in with YouTube before it can upload a file. Here is what I see when I select the "YouTube" Share Menu option under Yosemite:
If you told your system previously to "remember" your YouTube log-in info, then it shouldn't ask again. If you have never stored the log-in info, then I would normally expect a different error message here. That is what seems "fishy" here.
I'm also not seeing a PLIST file for Quicktime.  Or is there a specific file I should delete?
As you can see, there should be a number of QT Player associated PLIST files:

It's because the PowerMac G5 had HUGE bandwidth with a fat BUS on each processsor so they could run hard, hot and heavy.
It's not so with the Intel processors which are multi-core and share a common bus thus bottleneck.
The newer Intel processors can do more work on the CPU, but when it comes to in/out they are s-l-o-w.
I've had a wickedly fast dual processor (not dual core) G5, RAID 0 pair of 10,000 RPM drives as boot and a fast video card, I could do a lot very very fast.
You'll likely have to upgrade to Final Cut X to get more cores utilized, prepare to cry a little bit, Apple is working on the features they stripped out of it to make amends to pro users who complained loudly. (all over TV too)

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - Exported Video Longer Than Audio

Hello all.  I've downloaded a series of tutorials from Groove 3 and have been using Premiere/Encore to convert them to Blu-rays.  Up until recently, I've had no problems with the workflow, but now I'm stuck and can't figure out what's happening.
The tutorials are broken down into individual video clips per chapter, AVC MP4 media, 30p.  Most of them are screen captures so they aren't in typical video resolutions, so what I've been doing is creating a new sequence in Premeire Pro (1280x720 59.94 or 30p, tried both) and brought the clips into the timeline.  I resize the video, add Encore chapter markers at the start of each clip, then export the sequence using the H.264 Blu-ray template with 1280x720 resolution.
The entire length of each tutorial varies - some are 90 minutes others are several hours - so sometimes I need to adjust the bitrate to ensure that I'm ending up with an .m4v that'll fit on the Blu-ray.
When I bring that .m4v clip into Encore as a timeline and preview the project, the markers start falling behind and there's considerable audio drift by the end of the sequence.
If I bring that exported clip back into premiere, I find that the video track is actually longer than the audio track, which explains the chapter markers/audio not lining up.  What I can't understand is why Premiere would export a video track that's longer than the audio track when everything lines up and plays back perfectly in the sequence timeline within PPro.
Again, I've used this workflow with previous tutorials and it worked fine, but I've not been able to fix this problem.  Even if I export a different container/codec out of PPro then convert it to .m4v in Media Encoder, I keep ending up with the same problem.
I'm thinking about making each chapter its own sequence and exporting each of them individually, then manually linking all of them together in Encore, but that seems like a pretty ridiculous workflow when everything should line up as is.
I had originally assumed it was because I was changing sequence settings when bringing the footage into PPro (I want the sequence to be in 1280x720, not the screen resolutions of the tutorial vids), but even when I ensure that the sequence frame rate matches that of the source videos, the exported media does not match up.
    Ideas?

The tutorials are downloaded as a zip file then extracted; I don't actually screen record the tutorials while streaming or anything.  I guess I couldn't say if variable frame rate was used when they recorded the tutorials, but the media I have shows up as 30fps as opposed to some sort of non-traditional frame rate that often shows up when recording with something at a variable frame rate (like the stock iPhone video camera app).

  • How do I read from a text file that is longer than 65536 lines and write the data to an Excel spreadsheet and have the data write to a new column once the 65536 cells are filled in a column?

I have data that is in basic generic text file format that needs to be converted into Excel spreadsheet format.  The data is much longer than 65536 lines, and in my code I haven't been able to figure out how to carry over the data into the next column.  Currently the conversion is done manually and generates an Excel file that has a total of 30-40 full columns of data.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Darrick
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

No need to use nested For loops. No need for any loop anyway. You just have to use a reshape array function. The picture below shows how to proceed.
    However, there may be an issue if your element number is not a multiple of the number of columns : zero value elements will be added at the end of the last column in the generated 2D array. Now the issue depends on the way you intend store the data in the Excel spreadsheet : you could convert the data as strings, replace the last zero values with empty strings, and write the whole 2D array to a file (with the .xls extension ) using the write to spreadsheet function. Only one (minimal) problem : define the number of decimal digits to be used;
or you could write the numeric array directly to a true Excel spreadsheet, using either the NI report generation tools or ActiveX commands, then replace the last elements with empty strings.
We need more input from you to decide how to solve these last questions.

  • Why does my exported swf show more content than actually on frame?

Why does my exported .swf show more content than actually on frame?
My problem is relatively simple, though, I had some trouble finding a solution to it:
When I play my exported animation using flash player in Google Chrome, if the window is bigger than the resolution flash document/frame, it shows content not meant to show up on the frame -- like parts of a huge background that aren't supposed to show up yet.
In other words, how do I constraint the .swf to the white background/document resolution?

Anyone? I'd appreciate it if someone replied soon -- I am done with my project once this issue is resolved, and I am excited to publish it.
Please respond if you have any useful knowledge on the matter!
    Thanks!

  • How to pass a string longer than 30 to an Export Parameter in a PI sheet ?

    Hi All,
I'm trying to set  up a process instruction in a PI sheet that calls a URL web page.
I found the function module CALL_BROWSER and tested it in SE37 and it works fine.
I created a process instruction to call this function module and pass parameters to it.
Everything works if the URL is short.  For example:
    0010   PPPI_BUTTON_TEXT          Show URL
    0020   PPPI_FUNCTION_NAME          CALL_BROWSER
    0030   PPPI_FUNCTION_DURING_DISPLAY     allowed
    0040   PPPI_EXPORT_PARAMETER          URL
    0075   PPPI_STRING_CONSTANT          http://www.google.com
This is where I ran into a roadblock.
The characteristic PPPI_STRING_CONSTANT is only 30 characters long.
I can't figure out how to pass an export parameter longer than 30 characters.
I have also tried loading up multiple PPPI_VARIABLE(s) with the idea of some how combining them into a single long string that I can pass, but no luck figuring out how.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Kind Regards
    Michael

Thanks Dario, this is good information, but it does not directly solve my problem.
I think I have figured out an approach, but was hopeing someone else had a standard solution.
If I don't here something soon, I will try the following:
Create a new function moduel as a shell or wrapper that calls the standard FM RUN_Browser.
My shell will have 5 input parameters URLP1 thru URLP5.
I can then pass a long URL to my shell in 5 parts.
Inside my shell, the 5 parts will be joined up into 1 long string and passed on to the URL parameter in RUN_Browser.
If anyone has a better idea, please let me know.
    Kind Regards
    Mike Rupp

When exporting from Photos, the panel for naming the file no longer shows up. Why and how do I change so I can name the file what I want?

You don't need to maintain all versions of the upgrade chain, but many of us do in case we need to work on a legacy file. If you want to rmove a version, though, ti should be done BEFORE installing the later one. Just reinstall CS5 and things should get back to normal.
