Exported file WAY to large!

Hello!
I just bought Final Cut Pro some weeks ago, som Im a total rookie at this software.
I taped a concert for a local band a few weeks ago with my Zoom Q3HD. They played for aprox. 30 minutes.
I edited the video (it was originally 50minutes long in total, cut away 20 minutes).
But when I export it, it turns into XX-gigabytes
How is this happening? Even in H.264 it´s 5GB! Thats to big for YouTube!
I taped my own concert in HD with tha same camera, and it was about 52 minutes. That worked fine. BUT! That was not edited in Final Cut Pro, since I´ve just bought it. It was edited in Avid Studio.
So my question is simply:
How do I export the file in good quality for YouTube, in Final Cut Pro, at size less then 2GB?

Xathan,
Exporting a 30 minute HD video can lead to very large double digit gigabyte files depending on your export settings. If you just leave it to FCPX to export using project settings, then you could be looking at upwards of 20+ GB. Even if you try the simple Export for YouTube command, the built-in bitrate settings (that cannot be changed within FCPX) will still yield a large size because the bitrate setting is still too high for a 30 minute movie.
What you'll need to do is use an encoding program such as Compressor, or Adobe Media Encoder to compress the video file to a more manageable size. This used to be accomplished in earlier versions of Final Cut Pro, but the powers that be thought it wise to change that.
The key is to change your bitrate settings to be as low as possible without sacrificing quality too much. 2000kbps might work for you. The other setting to tweak is the frame size. 1280x720 is still HD but not overkill like 1080p for youtube. You should also make sure that if your camera recorded at 60 frames per second, then that needs to change to 30fps when compressing.
Good luck.

  • Transcode not needed, but the exported files are very large

Hi. I imported a video file (*.m2v) and its associated audio file (*.wav) to Encore. These two files were transcoded and exported by Premiere Pro (setting of the Encoder was MPREG-2 DVD). Now, in Encore, I chose NOT to transcode, because the files are DVD compliant already, and second their total size was less than a DVD's capacity (video file 3.3GB, 6Mbps;;;; Audio file 850MB, 1.5Mbps). My question:why did the Exported Dvd have 7.5GB in size?? Though the total size of video and audio is (3.3+0.8=4.1GB). I have a main menue only that has no fancy stuff nor motion.

Thanks Ruud Blauw. You were right. I used the same assets in two time lines, which resulted in exporting the movie in two twin copies, each was put as a single title in the DVD. What bothers me is that I had no way of seeing this on the [Timeline Viewer]; in other words, I couldnt see two time lines before I export the movie.
After experimenting, I realized that the first"wrong" situation differed from the new"correct" situatioin in only the [Project Tab]: the 'wrong' situation had 4 items in the [Project Tab]: Video file, Video Timeline, Audio File, Audio Timeline. On the other hand, the 'correct' situation had a [Project Panel] which had only 3items: Video File, Video Timeline, Audio File. This means that the difference was only the existence of an Audio Timeline.
Although I am new to Encore, this makes no sense to me. But fortunately it got resolved.

  • Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The file is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes.

Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The temporary file it saves is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes. I have been able to locate the file using GrandPerspective and close out of FCP to delete it. But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external? Thanks!

Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

  • Is there some way to tell lightroom to just re-export the previously exported files?

Shot a celebration (Park, Mass and Party), went home and processed the raw files in Lightroom, Exported them into 3 folders.
Then I proceeded to edit the files in photoshop, first folder that consisted of the park went well. Files looks great, even after compressing them again.
Then up were the Mass pictures and that's where it all went down hill. When I loaded up the first image it was compressed to hell All the black areas were all pixelated, so I went into lightroom and sure enough it changed the quality from 100% down to 60%!
All my other settings were the same so I didn't accidentally reset the whole thing. Not sure why or how Lightroom did this, I've had it on 100% for the past 2 years!
Now I have to export them all over again, the trouble is there was 800 that I culled down to just 150. I really don't want to hand pick them all over again.
Is there some way to tell lightroom to just re-export the previously exported files?

    The short answer: no.
Lightroom remembers recently imported files in a collection, but does not remember recently exported files.
That said, you could use the SQLiteroom plugin (free, by me) to round up a collection of *all* exported files, which might help.

  • PE 9 - Why is my exported file larger than the source?

    Hello
I am new to Adobe Premier Elements 9. I have a Digital Video Recorder connected to my television. It produces MPEG-2 TS VIDEO FILEs. I want to import these into PE9 and just cut out the ads.
I tried with a source file that is 1GB in size. I imported it and removed the ads but when I export it using Share > Computer and select settings that mimic the source I stll end up with a 3.7GB file. I thought it should be smaller that 1GB because the video is now about 5 minutes shorter.
In my Export settings I chose:
    Multiplexer: TS
    Audio: Left it untouched
    Video:
    Basic Video Settings:
    Quality = 4
Everything else set to Automatic (based on source)
Render at Maximum Depth left unchecked
    Bitrate Settings:
    Encoding: VBR, 1 Pass
    Bitrate Level - Custom
Min, Target and Max all set to 15
    GOP Settings:
    M Frames: 3
    N Frames: 12
Is my DVR better at encoding/compressing video that PE9 or are my export setting wrong? Shouldn't the exported file be less that 1GB?

As Steve points out, there are two parameters, that affect File Size:
    Duration
    Bit-Rate
With a fixed Duration, the only way to adjust File Size is lower the Bit-Rate (lower Bit-Rate = smaller File Size, but at the expense of quality.
Now, some CODEC's will allow one to use a lower Bit-Rate, but still retain perceived quality, better than some others, but it is still the Bit-Rate, that affects the File Size.
Some Export/CODEC options will list the Bit-Rate directly, and MB/sec., where others will instead have a "quality" setting, and the Bit-Rate's MB/sec. will not be directly shown, but will relate to some quality setting.
One major consideration is what is to be done with the resulting output file. If it is to be used for additional editing, then I feel that File Size is not a big issue, as I want the ultimate quality. If one is delivering the output file, then there are many considerations, from the platform of the recipient's computer, to the player being used, to the necessary quality of the file.
    Good luck,

  • Large export file when application contains a BI Publisher report

Anyone have an idea why an application export file grows dramatically when a BI Publisher report template is added to an application? I have an application that was 400+ KB and went to 88+ MB just by adding one report query and RTF template. This results in taking over an hour to import the application.

Each RTF Report layout is converted to an ASCII string to allow the import routine to load the rtf as part of the application.
If your template has any embedded graphics e.g. a logo then this SIGNIFICANTLY increases the size of the ASCII encoding of the template.
    Hope this helps.

  • LARGER Exported File sizes

I recently upgraded to LR V2 (also use PS CS3)
For some reason my exported file sizes have increased immensely
Typically I would convert from RAW to TIFF with the following settings:
    11" x 17" print size
    compression: none
    Adobe RGB1998
    16 bit
    resolution 300 DPI
These files would convert at about 90MB (manageable on my system)
They are now converting at a whopping 400MB (aging system can't handle this!)
Is this the new LR V2 standard, is there some setting I need to change?
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Rich

No, you must be doing something wrong there. 300 ppi (NOT DPI!) at 11x17 and 16 bits uncompressed should be 90MB as you can calculate with simple math. If you enable compression (highly recommended for tiffs - it's lossless compression) you should be able to cut that in half.

  • Large export file created during expdp

    Hi,
When i execute datapump export for a single table it will make 5.6G export file size. While there is only 39K rows in the table. When i import this export file to another scehma it takes only megabytes. More than 98% size reduction. This is mytable sctructure.

  • Extremely large jpg exported files - help!

I was previously loving LR3 - used the trial for a month, decided to buy it - had really no problems.  The big issue for me is now the jpg export file sizes that are being created.  I run all my photos through the develop module to adjust the basics as well as draw in masks, and previously I had no trouble exporting the files as jpg, with the limit of size at 600kb and resized to 960x640 (original photos from 5Dmk2 RAW).
Then I bought the license.  From then on it seems that now whenever I do the same exact export it doesn't work!  I also used to use the output quality slider and set that at 100% and would get around the same file sizes, but now I'm getting files 2-3x the size of the previous exports.  All of the photos have minimal metadata (10 keywords or so, that's it) and the same metadata was present in the exports in the trial version.
Playing around with more export parameters and reading around on this forum led me to try and minimize exif data - this didn't even work - files could not meet the requirements or they still ended up 2-3x the size they used to be.
The interesting part is that when I would delete all development history and set the file back to the original pre-edited RAW and export there would be no problems!
Could it be possible that LR is adding the development data into the metadata that it is attaching to the photo??
This has completely shut down my photo workflow and really is making me regret buying this otherwise wonderful tool.

This data results from heavy use of the local adjustment brush. Choosing "Minimize Embedded Metadata" upon export really should solve this problem for you. Please try again specifying this option.
But then, by doing so, you lose any other metadata (keywords etc.) also. To have complete control on what metadata gets written into the JPEG upon export, you could use Jeffrey’s “Metadata Wrangler” Lightroom Plugin.
I noticed one strange thing within the XMP data in your JPEG:
The data seems to be formatted differently than what I see with JPEGs I export ("HasExtendedXMP"), which I don't know where it comes from.
For further investigation, would it be possible for you to upload the Raw file and the XMP file belonging to it to somewhere (e.g. www.yousendit.com) and post a link to it here?

is it possible to pass a report parameter(s) as a file name when saving an export?

    Hi waras,
We can use report Viewer control that shipped with Visual Studio to achieve your requirement. For more details, please refer to the following blog:
    http://www.jimandkatrin.com/CodeBlog/post/Setting-export-file-name-in-SSRS-report-viewer.aspx
If we are using SSRS in standalone way, Reporting Services does not supports automatically rename the filename with parameter name when export a report.
Personally, I think the requirement is a good point. Additionally, if you have any concern about this, please submit a feedback at

  • Indesign 2014 exporting pdf for web large fiel size

I am exporting an Indesign 2014 file to pdf print for web. I have tried smallest file size, Acrobat 4 & 5 and also selected transparency flattener when exporting pdf. File comes out to 12MB either way. I have gone into Adobe pdf and optimized the pdf and comes out around 11MB. The Indesign file has some small photoshop images also layered vector AI file. I have flattened the AI file and placed that image in Indesign but file is still large. With the AI file I have exported it as a jpeg and placed that in Indesign and file comes out fine for web under 1 MB. Checking with the group if there is a way that Indesign can export the AI file without replacing it as a jpeg.

    Checking with the group?
The best and most logical way would be to export a PDF from the AI and place that one, so ID just needs to copy. ID is not an AI-to-PDF converter.

  • Cleaning up the description field in the product export file?

    Hello.
Here's the challenge: I have a large product list with large descriptions; with commas and other sorts of punctuation in it that will not allow me to simply download a product export file and re-upload it again without a lot of manual work to clean up all the "descriptions..." A lot of manual work.
Anyone know of a good way, or Excel Macro that can be used to clean up or remove all commas from the Description field in a product export file. Or maybe ignore this column, or something?
Many Thanks would be in order!
    Tad

    Hi Nicole,
    Thanks for the quick response!
Yeah, it is odd, because I've seen it work with some simple test sites with a few products, but not so fortunate on this one and it has many products.
When I export the product list, all the data is generated in a single column, and a few bad characters in the first row, I'll highlight that column in Excel and "convert column to rows using comma delimited." I've tried a number of ways with the same results... For every comma in the description it'll push the text into the next column and offset the applicable information. In the end I have rows that don't have correct info and field elements not aligning with the right data. I'll end up getting a multitude of errors like the one below:
Error  ERROR: [No Name found]. Import process failed on record: [35] Please ensure 1) mandatory columns are present, 2) all products have Product Codes defined, which should be unique (if importing products)
Example of export down load - single column - one record with header
Example of column converted to rows - one record with header (partial copy to column S):

  • Exporting files to server

    Hi All,

When we exported data from production server, we found the essbase database to be 54 GB. We also found the files in multiple numbers comprising to 54 GB.
We then loaded the exported file to development server in free form.
What we want to know is that is free-form the only way to load the exported file into development server.
If not then please suggest the other ones and explain the same in steps.

    Hi Cameron,
Following process were followed for exporting data:
    1. Created a new application in development server (name same as in production).
    2. Created a new database (as in production)
    3. Stop the services in dev and production servers.
    4. Removed the db folder created in dev.
    5. copied the db folder from the prodn server to dev server at the respective paths.
We Could not open the application. (Problem faced by us)
    6. Stopped the services of devp and prdn servers.
    7. Removed tct,ess,ind,pag files.
    8. Started the services again.
    9. Exported the data at 'All Level' from prodn server
    10. Loaded the generated export flat file db on dev server using Free rule.
    11. Started the application successfully.
    12. checked the data retrieved prior migration from prodn server with the data retreived from dev server at same intersection point.
Note: We have made templates in excel for matching prior and post migration data.
    Problems found:
    a. Small Database which generates single export flat file:
Data retrieval as mentioned in point 12 matched successfully.
    b. Large Database ( > 10GB) which generated multiple export flat files:
Data retrieval as mentione in point 12 did not match completely.
A doubt arises in our mind whether the method chosen by us (Free load) and the generation of multiple files is responsible for the debacle.
Appreciate if you could suggest to solve the above issue.
    Thanks in advance
