Exported files too large for email loop

I work with an online writers critique group. Since the most recent update, all files that I exported from Pages to Word to email to the loop  have been rejected as being over 500KB.
While the critiqued documents are in Pages format, I see a Reduce File Size option in the dropdown menu. When I click it, I receive the message that all media files are at their optimum size.
Does anyone have a solution?

I don't know of any way to reduce file sizes for Pages output other than to export them to PDF and then use Acrobat's file compression option to squeeze out the junk.  There also are other apps out there for compressing PDFs. There are apps for converting PDFs to Word.  However, I do not think the PDF loop will solve the problem.  When the stuff comes back into Pages or Word, the overhead of these apps will be added to the text.
My suggestion is for your group to switch to Acobat PDF for review.  We use Acrobat PDF files for reviewers.  That way we do not have to worry about what word processing app a reviewer has installed, including on iPads and other tablets.  Acrobat has extensive features for annotation and comment.  And, Acrobat has excellent file comparison, which is character accruate.
I hop this is helpful.

  • TFTP file too large for upload

I'm trying to upgrade my router via TFTP. I keep getting this File too large for TFTP error. I'm using the recommended TFTP server from Solarwinds.
There does not seem to be any setting in the server to let large file pass, It's the first time I see that, but this is the biggest IOS I had to upload. I had no problem sending the last IOS witch is only about 3MB smaller.

    correct. copy ftp://userid:password@servername/directory/filename flash:

  • File too large for volume format?

I'm trying to copy a 4.6GB .m4v file from my hard disk to an 8GB USB flash drive.
When I drag the movie in the finder, I get a dialogue telling me the file "is too large for the volume's format". That's a new one for me. If the flash drive has 8GB available, and the file is only 4.6GB in size, how is that too large? Does it have to do with the way the flash drive is formatted? It's presently formatted as MS DOS FAT 32. Is that the problem? Do I need to reformat as HFS+?  Or is it some other problem?

The flash drive is pre-formatted FAT32 which has a maximum allowable file size of 2 GBs. Change the flash drive format for OS X:
    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.

  • Why is 500kb jpg file too large for PDF readers?

I have a jpg file size of 500kb and it is too big for GoodReader and PDF reader.  Adobe Reader does not appear in the "Open In" dialog.  Please help. I have an iPad 2.
    hawkdavis

Can you open these attachments in your email with no issues? There is no way that 500kb is too large as Diavonex has already stated.
Two thoughts - the jpgs are not being saved correctly or you have an issue with GoodReader.
Have you restarted your iPad? Quit GoodReader completely and then try again?

  • Movie file too large for iDVD

I have a 13GB .mov file created using FCE Exported w/QT Conversion (prior it was a 30GB file) but it's still too large to place on DVD using iDVD. Is there a way to (1) Shrink my file size to be compatible with iDVD or (2) re-set iDVD to accept larger file sizes (I don't use dual layer discs)? If the answer to both of those is no, is there a specific DVD conversion software that is more versatile than iDVD? Thanks

The length in time is what's important for burning to DVD, not the input file size. With iDVD you can burn a video up to 2 hours in length on a single-layer DVD-r (but that capacity includes your DVD menus, titles, etc.)
Assuming your source is DV video, your original 30GB file is about 2 hrs 20 mins long. You will either need to shorten your video to less than 2 hours, or cut your video into two segments and burn it to 2 DVD-R's (one segment on each DVD-R).
Compressing the way you did by exporting to QT Conversion is only going to make your video look worse and doesn't solve the length issue - you still have a 2 hr 20 min video. After you fix the length of the movie, you should export to QT Movie, and UNcheck the option for "Make movie self-contained".

  • Exporting File too large

I am unable to export my project from final cut pro to my personal youtube or vimeo because a message appears stating it timed out or it is too large. The project is 20 minutes long.
I am able to save the project on a DVD but then my client is unable to upload the project to her business youtube account or save it to upload on her website. Is there a specific setting or program I need to do this? I looked at Compressor but from the reviews, it doesn't seem like that will help.
    Thanks-Dallal

I thought you could upload 2GB / 15 minutes unless you had some sort of corporate account, or has that changed?

  • Exporting files too large

I'm trying to export keynote for uploading to a blog, but the file is too big.
any suggestions about how to decrease size?
    thanks!

What are you ftp-ing the files for? Are they going to be edited by someone? Are they for preview purposes only? Are they finishing to the web? There is an infinite number of compression schemes that you could use, but you'll need to provide more information as to what the end product is going to be.

  • Receive file too big for email

For me, the most significant function missing from iCloud is the iDisk Public Folder option so clients can send me files which exceed email attachment size limits.
These are not files to be shared publicly, and most of my clients are governmental entities with restricted networks so users cannot join a file-sharing service, but they could simply upload files to my iDisk Public Folder.
Without Public Folder we're back to burning CD/DVD and snail mail.
    Alternatives?

Dolby 2.0 and .aiff are both audio files - the .aiff is not compressed, but the Dobly 2.0 is an AC3 file and will be about a tenth the size of the other, and run at a far lower bitrate.
Compressor produces both files by default when you use 'All' with one of the pre-sets. If you don't want them both, remove one from the batch window, or create your own pre-set which doesn't include the unwanted version.
Dolby 2.0 refers to it being a stereo track with 2.0 channels, it isn't a later version of Dolby.
When the encoding is complete, bring both the video and the required audio (I suggest the AC3 for space and bandwidth) into DVDSP and use them in a track for authoring to DVD.

  • A video file too large for iweb

iweb suggests a max of 10 mb for the video added to the video pages. How can I put a 188 mb video created in FCE HD on the web? thank you joankvh

iweb suggests a max of 10 mb for the video added to the video pages.
True. But you are not limited to 10 MBs. I have placed 2 files just under 167 MBs on iWeb. You would do better to check your total video data rate when considering the posting of larger files like this. If the total video data rate is on the order of 1.0-1.1 Mbps and are targeted for high-speed Internet users, then your targeted users should be able to watch them via the "Quick Start" cache option and will probably not be bothered by long loading times.
How can I put a 188 mb video created in FCE HD on the web?
If you have a reasonably good high-speed ISP service, publish the movie page normally.

  • How should I handle a file too large for DVD?

I've created a 2-1/2 video of a play in FCE HD, utilizing two video tracks and three audio tracks in various spots, as well as some text transitions. With the title screens and scene index in iDVD, the movie comes in at about 8.5GB unless I switch to "Best Quality," in which case it's still 4.9GB (and doesn't look nearly as good as it should). So:
    1. Is there way to end up with a more managable file size from FCE without losing quality?
    2. If not, what's the best way to export a single FCE file to two movies (Acts I and II) to burn onto two DVDs?
    Thanks

    1) One way you could export content longer than 2 hours to DVD would be to go the dual layer route .. but you need a dual layer burner, and dual layer media. iDVD6 will handle this
If you are limited to single layer, another option would be Compressor but that is not available with FCE, only DVD Studio Pro, part of the FCP Studio suite
You could go the route of Toast 7 with Popcorn, but you would not get the fancy iDVD menus, themes, etc.
Personally, I am not impressed with the quality of DVD content (single layer) over two hours by any method
    2) To split your project into two movies, create two new sequences and call them something like Part One and Part Two (gee, aren't I clever?) In you orginal sequence (Timeline) use In and Out points to define what the two parts will be ... so for Part One, set the In Point at the beginning of the timeline and find an appropriate point and hour or 90 minutes in and set an Out point.
Open the Part One Sequence (the new one) From the Browser, drag your original Sequence (My Movie, whatever you called it) into Part One. Only the In to Out will go. You may want to put a Cross Dissolve at the end to fade to black. Maybe create a Part One Ends title there. Render everything. Set your chapter Markers. Export it and create an iDVD project from that movie
Do the similar for Part Two

  • File too large for the stage

    Hello
Am encountering an issue regarding the size of images I am seeking to import onto the stage in Edge.
I create a graphic in Illustrator, save the file as an SVG file and then I import/copy the file into Edge.
The size of the graphic is always smaller than the pixel dimension of the stage.
But on every occasion, I encounter a notification error message just below the right hand corner of the stage; it reads 'Images greater than 1024x1024px may cause unexpected behaviour on mobile devices'.
When I continue regardless and import my OAM file into an article in Indesign, the animation plays fine, but am concerned by why this error message continues to appear.
I fear the animation will not play on any other mobile devices.
    Anyone aware of this issue??
    Thanks
    Sean

Is it just text? You can place it inside a dynamic text field and simply drag a UIScrollBar component to the text field. It will automatically snap to the right by default and take control of the text scrolling for you. To open the components list, open Window || Components or press CTRL+F7.

  • 178MB file too large for 4GB DVD disc?

Using iPhoto6 on my new MacBook, when trying to burn photos to a DVD/RW I sometimes get a message that there isn't enough room. The DVD has a capacity of over 4GB, but the File Info says I'm trying to burn only about 178MB of info (Approx. 200 photos. This also happens when I try to export a second batch of photos, but before burning the disc. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

something similar to this happened to me as well. does your blank DVD show up in the finder's source list? or does it ignore blanks that are inserted into the macbook?
in my case, it told me i needed a disk of at least the size of the file to be burned. so i changed the cd/dvd settings in system preferences so that it would ask me what to do when inserting blank cd's or dvd's. after that when i chose to burn that file it would immediate check the media then burn it. that may be your solution.

  • I get an error message File too large for formatted drive when trying to copy a large video file (~50GB) to a new 64 GB USB drive.  Any thoughts?

I am copying from a MAC to the new drive - not sure the format of the USB drive, whatever the SANDISK Cruzer is default formatted to..

You state that Cruzer is formatted which is proably FAT32. FAT32 has limits on file size of 4 GB.
Since you are copying larger files then you will need to reformat.

  • Best way to burn a file too large for a dvd?

i have a captured video that is 5.5 gigs, should i split it into 2 parts?(if so with what application?) or is there another way? thanks.

Buy a dual-layered DVD that can handle up to 9.4 GBs. Otherwise, you have to split the file, but it won't play that way. There are several utilities like:
    Split n Join
    JJSplit
    MacAppStuff Pieces
    Split&Concat
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
