Exported images are changed

I have been using Lr for years and recently upgraded to 4.4 from 2.7. Now, when I export my images, they appear blown out and I do not have any changes marked in the export dialog box. What could this be?

In Bridge, check your Camera Raw preferences.
Make sure the box next to "Apply auto tone adjustments" is not checked.

  • I save my images to my hard drive then pull them into lightroom.  Now when I do this my images are changing- they look like I've added a preset but all I have done is imported them.  Can anyone help me with this?

My images are changing once I import them into lightroom.  Initially they look the same as BOC then it changes image by image as if it is adding a preset.  I am not aware of any changes I have made to the program.

I'm not sure how that changed, but I am so grateful for your knowledge!!!  thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!

  • Exported images are pixelated

I am having trouble with ALL of my exported images.  The only one I can say that have come out better have been a high quality print PDF.  JPG, GIF, EPS - all have turned out to be pixelated.  I know what I am doing and this has never happened to me before.  I asked in two other forums and the people acted like I was stupid!  I have been working with these programs for years!  I just may not be wording my problem correctly, so bare with me.
I created a logo in illustrator and it looks great on the screen, but when I export it as say a JPG and bring it back in to illustator it looks horribly pixelated.  I am exporting at the highest level possible.  Is there another setting that would cause it to be pixelated?
I have tried so many different things now I am not sure what else to do.  Could this be cause by a lacking update?  A bad set of fonts with a virus, maybe? I don't know anymore - any help will be GREATLY appreciated!
This all just started I was working on it just fine a couple of days ago with no problems and now everything has been different.

vividdesigngirl, I apologize if my message has offended you in any way. That was not my intention and I really wanted to help you, I was pretty much sure and still believe that what I said is the only ways to get the results you reported not because I'm judging you or anything like that but because I don't know how else one can get the results you reported. Also if it is not obvious English is not my native language and I may have failed in using it properly. Again apologies for anything that sounded offending.
If you are still interested in my contribution to solving your problem, I would say that I don't understand well what you have done to the exported image as described in the first paragraph of you last reply. Using File > Export to JPG doesn't recognize artboards - they are ignored. The image is clipped by the bounding box of the objects. So if the bounding box of your book is 8x5 inches, regardless of the size of the artboard, and if you export with High selected for Depth, you will get 2400x1500 pixels for the book and not 576 by 360 pixels as you originally reported. If what you are saying is that your book image is in fact 2400x1500 pixels without any margins around and it still looks pixelated, this is entirely different problem than the one you initially reported by saying it is 576 by 360, and to solve it you have to provide additional information in that regard.
    edit: Oh, wait
    vividdesigngirl wrote:
...I accidently thought the question was how big my artboard was in pixels not my exported image. ...
you mean you artboard is 576 by 360 as measured on the rulers in Illustrator? And thus your book which fits in it? OK, I get it. The pixels unints on the ruler and in the transform controls are used only for the default size if you use Save for Web and Devices but as I said, you can change them in the Image tab.
If the exported image is in fact 2400x1500 pixels you should not see any pixelation. How are you bringing this image back to Illustrator. What happens if you right click on the file and choose open with Illustrator? Is it still pixelated?
    edit 2:
if this happens with every image, can you please, create a simple document with a few simple round or skewed objects that show the pixelation, export as you usually do and share the illustrator and the exported jpg files by providing a link This is the best way to find the problem.

  • Exported images are under-exposed

I have been using LR5, with updates, for the past couple of years, on a Windows7-PC 64 bit, system. Several weeks ago, I noticed that when exporting images, that were fine in the catalogue, that they became approximately 0.7-1.0 stops, underexposed. So now, I have tried to compensate for this when exporting, by over-exposing to the same degree. This doesn't happen when taking the image into PS.
Anyone have any idea as to what is the problem, and how to fix it??? Thanks.

Your monitor profile is wrong. Lr and PS are fully color managed and use the profile to display; other applications may not be and will just ignore it.
Recalibrate, and don't change any monitor settings subsequently as that will invalidate the profile. If you don't have a calibrator use sRGB IEC61966-2.1 until you eventually decide to get one.

  • Exported images are too small

I shoot in raw and when I export images to photo labs the size is too small. Instead of mb, the size is reduces to kb.  I have export set for tiff 16 bit.  What am I doing wrong?

    Can't say without more information.
What command are you using to export?
What Export Preset are you selecting?
What are the settings in your selected Export Preset?
Presets and settings are listed at "Aperture→Presets→Image Export ...".

  • Exported images are being exported as hidden file types

So when I export my images using the current up to date version of Aperture 2, the files were not visible until I clicked "show hidden files." This really ***** because then when I burn a CD it appears as the CD is blank.
Has this happened to anybody else? And what could cause this so I can fix it?
    Any help would be great!
    Thanks.

    Welcome,
Where on your system are you exporting them? What export preset are you using?
Also, it would be helpful if you added your configuration info to your public profile. That way the contributors here can see what your set up is at a glance. Look at the bottom of this post for an example.

  • Exported images are too dark (too blue) when printed

I imported photos into my trial download of Lightroom and did some cropping but no image quality changes. When I exported them for printing at Walgreens the files all came out much darker (bluer) than the original photos. I sent them to another walgreens and they looked the same.
I sent a test of the original photos cropping them in MS Picture Manager and they came out true to the onscreen version of the photo from one of the same walgreens.
Both the lightroom & MS Print manager were saved as JPGs. The image setting was set to ProPhot RGB 240 pixels per inch.
Anyone know what is going on? Did I do something wrong?

sRGB would be a better bet than ProPhoto for lab printing.
Also FWIW a lot of labs auto correct images.

  • Exported images are screwed up

I have just exported 112 images to the desktop from within Aperture 3 the results are terrible. Each image has "blocks" of the image duplicated on a different part of the same image. These random blocks are in different places on each image. Has anyone else come across this and knows how to cure it?

I got in touch with Apple on this one and they suggested the following which seems to be working for me. This is a work around and the guy at Apple, who was very helpful, has escalated the problem to the engineers. I will post the results when I can..
1 - Click on the project you want to export.
2 - Go to Export, then click on "project as new library"(you can check the activity by going to "window - show activity" once at 100% go to 3)
    3 - Quit Aperture
    4 - Double-Click the exported Library
5 - Now export your files as you would normally do.
Hopefully this works for you, its frustrating but I think Apple are now on the case..
    Cheers

  • Exported Images are desaturated?

Hi, I'm trying to export some items from the vault using the color corrected versions and I'm exporting for the web at hi quality jpg, reducing them to 400 px wide max. I've tried to export as sRGB Profile, PC Gamma, and another format, but what I'm seeing is pictures that have darker brightness, the colors look washed out and desaturated.
Is there a better export option? Or some what to preserve the brightness I'm seeing on screen?

What browser are you viewing them in? Is your screen profiled? Do they look the same in preview as they do in your browser?
    Steps I would recommend.
    - Profile your monitor with a hardware calibration tool.
    - Save as sRGB is a good practice and use the built in on screen proofing to give yourself an idea of what your image is going to look like upon export.
    - When that doesn't work perhaps switch to a PC gamma setting for your display.
There are many reasons that this could be happening and there are lots of forums online with suggestions on the matter. Different browsers support ICC profiles, IE to the best of my knowledge doesn't support embedded ICC profiles at all. So if you see a PC user get them to switch to safari.
I used to struggle with this. Check out http://creativebits.org/2004/07/windows-vs-mac-monitor-gamma.html
It's a great site as well. And if you want further explanation on what is going on feel free to ask. = ]
    I hope this helps.

  • Why are exported images (jpg) in LR3 so huge?

I am importing jpgs into Lightroom 3, work on them, and export them as jpg again, with a quality settig of 100% (the rest of the settings are the default ones).
The original, imported images are typically around 3MB in size, the exported images range anywhere between 6MB and 9MB!
I tried mimimizing the embedded metadata, but that had only the slightest effect. The file sizes are huge even if I crop the picture in LR, which is even stranger.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Any help is much appreciated!

All I wanted was to save my images at the same quality level and roughly the same size during export as they used to be before I imported them into LR. I guess this proves much harder than I thought, and there is no definite answer.
I don't think anyone actually answered your question directly! When your camera creates a JPEG file from the RAW image it uses a quality level that is selected in the 'Quality' menu as High, Low, or Medium, or something similar. You are using the highest quality setting and want to use the same compression level and resolution for exported images. Suggested procedure:
    1) Find a typical image that you have imported into LR and make sure all Develop settings are at default zero (0).
    2) Export this image using JPEG, sRGB settings, 'Limit File Size to' unselected, 'Resize to Fit' unselected, 'Sharpen for' unselected.
    3) Using the above settings set the 'Quality' setting and 'Export.'
    4) Repeat as necessary by fine-tuning the 'Quality' setting until the "exported" file size is the same, or close to the "original" camera file size. That may be a number such as 74, or whatever!
    5) You have now found the closest quality setting of LR's JPEG compression engine that matches your camera's! You can use this number with confidence, for any JPEG picture shot using that specific in camera 'Quality' setting (i.e. High) with that camera.
Please remember that LR is a non-destructive editor and therefore never over-writes your original image files (JPEG or RAW). Your original files will NOT degrade due to any work done in LR. This is only an issue for exported JPEG copies that you continue to “resave” after opening in other applications. If you never have to “resave them, they will never degrade! If you need to do extensive work on a specific image outside of LR, use the “loss-less” TIFF file format in LR’s Export options. Yes the file size will be bigger, but you can select ‘ZIP’ compression to reduce the file size somewhat.
A JPEG compression setting of 100 will not necessarily produce a "sharper" picture than a 70 setting. The biggest issue with JPEG compression is introduction of artifacts, which is well described and illustrated at the link PhotoGap provided. Also, keep in mind that full-size exports images are rarely viewed at 100%. For smaller enlargements up to 8” x 12” and when using resized exports for web posting, JPEG artifacts will be much less visible.

  • Why does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported? How do I stop it from changing?

why does the Date Created metadata change when images are exported?  How do I stop it from changing? I must have a prefernce set up wrong.

I don't know what OS you are using, or what application you are using to view the data about your exported files, but on Windows and using Windows Explorer the "Date Created" field relates only to the date that the exported file was created, i.e. if viewed immediately after export it will show the date created as being the same date. In order to view "Capture Date" in something like Explorer, you first have to ensure you have included the Metadata as Conrad outlined above, then you have to adjust the display properties of Explorer to show the "Date Taken" field. Here is an example, part of a folder I exported back on March 3rd, note the difference between that last two dates:

    Hi There
I used Crystal report 10.5(VS 2008 base crytal report -- CRRedist2008_x86.msi), i developed ASP.net application using VB.net  program(i used .net 3.5). One of the pages in the application is having crystal report viewer, which is calling a crystal report to populate the result. The report is working as expected on development machine (Win Vista). Hence, I moved the application onto Server (Windows Server Web; 32Bit OS and IIS). I installed the CRRedist2008_x86.msi, which added the "aspnet_client" under default website. As my site is a made as an application under default webiste. I tried...
    a) By copying the aspnet_client folder into the website folder
    b) By adding a virtual directory called "aspnet_client" under my website pointing it into the folder under "default website"
None of the trials are working for me.
When I click on Print or Export buttons (although their images are missing), I get the error sigh on bottom left (status bar) of the browser and the popping up the same giving me below error details

    Hello All.
I am excited to let you know that the issue is being resolved.
Here is steps that lead me to resolution and solution..
I installed Fiddler2 and looked into every the debugging details of the transaction while running the report.
Learned that the crystal report is using the aspnet_client foler under "Default website" NOT under the crrent website.
Hence I tried to access the image via http path from local machine
    http://myserver/aspnet_client/system_web/2_0_50727/CrystalReportWebFormViewer4/images/toolbar/export.gif.
(Notice, "mysite" folder is been removed)
I was expecting to see the gif on my browsers' body. It gave me an error.
Investigated further more on the error and found that the "Managed Pipe Line" of the respective application pool is to be changed to "Classic" instead of "Integrated"
    changed it .. Boom...
Tool bar is showing up with proper images and as well the "Export" and "Print" functions are working as expected..
Hope this helps to those in the same situation.
Again.. this is one of many many solutions on this issues.
    Thank You

  • Adobe Fireworks CS5: A way to change an existing slideshow export image width and height?

I have an existing slide show with 8 albums with numerous images in each.  They have all been carefully labeled and sorted and placed.
The export image size was set, at one time, to 800 x 600 and everything displayed splendedly..
After just adding another album, all of a sudden, the images are displayed as 320 x 240.  I have not idea why this is and I can't seem to figure out how to change this without creating the entire slideshow from scratch because the fields for the image size are greyed out...
Can someone please let me know where I would find this knowledge?  I'm not very well versed in webdesign and only have this site and gallery using dreamwaever and fireworks through brute force...
    Very appreciative of any help!

  • Import JPG w/ LR. - Export it (no change at all & same colorspace) - Different image???

    As the title reads:
I import a JPG with lightroom, do nothing on it. Then I export it. The output JPG colorspace is sRGB, same as input one. I do not allow the 'sharpen for screen' option in the export menu. Under preferences I do not allow auto tones or any other option.
The output JPG is slightly darker/contrasted/saturated than the input one.
    WHY????
It doesn´t happen using PS, nor Capture NX2:
    Thanks in advance!

First of all, many thanks, I´ve been researching for a looong time before posting in here with no luck so far.
    I made a test:
I opened (imported) a JPG with LR. Colorspace sRGB. Then I exported it. Colorspace is still sRGB
I did it 5 times. Taking the last exported image as next input.
    So I have JPG1,JPG2....,JPG6
Each one is darker than previous with the soft I use for wiewing.
I open JPG1 with LR, navigate to JPG2 wich LR shows it as darker too, JPG3 is shown darker than JPG2 also... SO LR shows same as my viewers.
And here comes the funny thing: If I see hystory of JPG6  in lightroom, only 2 events appear, imported w/ date AND exported with date. SAME in any other of the 5 images.
SO the program when exporting make some changes that are not reflected in the historical.
