Exported jpeg files are blank in ID CC

I just launched InDesign CC for the first time. After creating a simple one-page layout, I exported to jpeg and found that the resulting image was blank. Is there a new setting in CC I need to change?

25MB is quite a large filesize for a JPG, and this might be either quite a lot of pixels saved at a very "high" quality (not very much compressed), or it may be an extremely large number of pixels saved with medium compression.
While the technical spec of the JPG format imposes an absolute limit on maximum width and height pixel dimensions, some software employs a lower limit above which it considers the file to be invalid. Different programs, different limits, sometimes.
I have encountered this (for example) with pano stitched images using the full resolution of a large number of component shots - where JPG output could not be made, or if made, could not even be viewed as a whole by my standard image viewer (though TIFF was still OK even at still larger sizes).
If Lightroom has been set to a large printed size AND to a high ppi resolution, it is easy to get into very high numbers and very large output files. One should IMO at least question the utility and benefit of using very high ratios of upsampling from a standard digital photo - which may happen in some cases as a result of using the same output settings regardless, when spreading the same data across both small and large scales. If the file that was imported into LR really does provide an unusually high number of pixels expressing lots of detail, then that will better deserve such a capacious output file. Otherwise, each part of the file may merely show a very highly detailed representation, of a very blurry nothing-much-in-particular.
If the JPG has exceeded the viewer's size limits, a reported width and height of 0 may represent an error message, in effect - not actual reality.

  • Lightroom 4.1 exported JPEG files are not recognized by Apple Preview App

I just started using Lightroom 4.1 Trial version (coming from Aperture). I exported JPEG versions of some images using an ICC profile. On my iMac running Lion 10.7.5 the pictures do not show a thumbnail, the file on the desktop just shows "JPEG". I could not open the file with the Preview App, but I am able to open it with DPP (Canon software)? Also the file shows that it has 0 x 0 dimentions when I click Get Info even though it is about 25 Megs in size?
    The message I get is
"The file “Edit-739820120223Canon EOS 7D.jpg” could not be opened.
It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."
Does anyone know why this is hapening?
Is it a know issue between Adobe and Apple?
Is there a fix for this?
    Thanks for help in advance.

  • The icons for html files are blank . . . how do i get them to show the firefox image

on the desktop and in directories, the icons for html files are blank . . .
firefox is my default browser . . .
how do i get the icons to show the firefox image ?? . . .

You can check for issues with the Windows icon cache and try to rebuild the icon cache.
    # Open the Task Manager (Shift+Ctrl+ESC)
    # In the Process tab, right-click on the Explorer.exe process and select End Process.
    # Open the file picker via "File > New Task (Run)" and click the Browse button.
    # Type or Paste %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local (%LocalAppData%) in the File name field (AppData is a hidden folder).
    # Select the IconCache.db file and use "Delete" in the right-click context menu to delete the file.
    # After the IconCache.db file has been deleted, start a new explorer.exe process via "File > New Task" to get the desktop and Taskbar back.
The IconCache.db file is a hidden file, so make sure that you can see hidden files.

  • Need help exporting thumbnails (jpeg files are empty)

    Hello,
I'm having problems loading photos from my thumbnails in iPhoto. If I try to load a photo nothing happens, even after several minutes. My library has around 500 images, so I can't imagine it would take very long to load.
If I try to export a photo it just creates an empty jpeg file. I can get data on the photo (ie size, width, height) from inside iPhoto, but the actual jpeg file appears empty. So, is there anyway to export just the thumbnail? I'd rather have a smaller image of the original than nothing at all.
    Regards,
    Rob
    Powerbook G4 Mac OS X (10.3.9) iPhoto 5.0.4

however, during this process I got the following error message for many of the photos:
The following files could not be imported (they may be an unrecognized file type or the files may not contain data).
    Hello Rob,
this message means that you have this image in your library already, it prevents from duplicate.
The simplest way I found to solve this type of issue is to choose a picture that does not show up, but were you can see the thumbnail. Check the name (so called tittle) of the picture in iPhoto via info and find it on the drive via finder "apple-F" key combination (or menu edit/find/find).
1 - you find it under your iPhoto Library tree folder
1-1 - try to find out if folders names (iPhoto Library/2006/07/10/...which means : iPhoto Library/"year"/"month"/"day") has been changed. If no change has been done with finder, drag (do not copy) this pict out on desktop or other folder you can use, then drag it back in iPhoto window (not in finder folder), it should go back in the correct folder under iPhoto Library and show up again in full size.
check it first for several picts, if you find that all your picts are with the same problem you can consider taking all your picts out with finder and drag them back in iPhoto window
1-2 - you could also consider to repair your library by starting iPhoto holding down command-apple keys, but I have never tried it.
2 - your pict is NOT in iPhoto Library folder BUT on your drive, drag it back in iPhoto window, not in finder folder directly. It should show up in the correct location in iPhoto. You may have 2 thumbnails with same name in iPhoto window, just delete the one where you can't see full size pict.
this is unlikely to be the case from my point of view
3- your pict is not anymore on your drive... Somebody must have erased it directly from folder, meaning messing up directly in iPhoto library folder. Then check again 1-1.
this is unlikely to be the case from my point of view
You see the thumbnails because iPhoto it is a database that create thumbnails when importing pict, and they will last until you delete your pict within iPhoto. iPhoto refreshes it's database at that time. By doing things directly under finder just does not allow iPhoto database to be "aware" of what you are doing... so it cannot refresh it correctly. Then it messes up the complete stuff.
Hope this can help you, if not please post back an answer,
    Best regards,

  • Aperture exports jpeg files larger than original RAW files

Can anyone tell me why a RAW file (10.6mb), when exported as a jpeg (10.8mb) from Aperture ends up larger than the original RAW file. The same RAW file when opened and then saved as a jpeg (6.4mb) in Photoshop is a lot smaller. The photo dimensions and resolution are the same in both saved files (34.5mb open file 300dpi 4256 x 2831 pix). I have tried this on several photos, all with similar results. For information I am saving the photos in both Photoshop and Aperture at 300dpi, original size and at a quality setting of 12. In these examples/tests I have done no work to the photos, obviously the file sizes increase after work has been carried out on the photos (in both Ps & Aperture)
Almost doubling the size of saved jpegs has a massive implication on my library and may be one reason to consider Adobe Lightroom as this gives similar jpeg file sizes as Photoshop, i.e. almost half the size of the original RAW file
Reducing the quality setting on saved jpegs is an obvious way to reduce file size, but not answering the question of the considerable discrepancy when saving to the same quality in different software
Is this a feature of Aperture and nothing can be done about it ? I would prefer to use Aperture but cannot cope with the large jpeg sizes !
Any comments would be much appreciated - thank you
    Nick

Think you might be right Allen - The 12 quality saved jpegs seem to be pretty high quality, closer to the original than maybe the files saved in Ps at quality 12. I have just run an identical set of processing actions on all the files in Photoshop and the jpegs previously saved in Aperture at 12, 11 and even 8 quality settings seem to be better than the same files saved at 12 in Ps
Bizarrely the file size drops from 10.6mb at quality setting 12 in Aperture, to 3.2mb when saved just one notch down at quality setting 11 in Aperture. That is a massive drop, esp considering the next one down, saving at quality 10 results in a 2.8mb file
rw just ran some checks and tests on the file export settings and file sizes in Aperture, on a file I sent him, and we get the same results. So at least my version of Aperture is not up the wall !!
Would be useful to have the explanations from Apple as to the vast variance in settings and file sizes, but I guess we will just have to keep guessing - and buying more and more hard drives for all the large files
I am considering keeping the RAW originals in future, and I suppose in this case I need only save smaller jpegs, and issue at whatever size they are needed at the time - just needs a bit of planning to look after an ever increasing collection, which is about to have two sets of images added at a time now. Added to the already amassed 80 000 images at last count !)
    Thanks
    Nick

  • Installed CS3 symbol files are blank

We have Illustrator CS3 for Windows. We did not purchase the the entire suite just INDD, PHOTO, ILLSTR and ACROBAT. I tried to access the symbol files that are free with Illustrator. When I open say the MAP file, the pages are all blank. I checked the others and they are all blank pages. I recently viewed them at a seminar and they were available. The path is ZZ:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS3\Presents\Symbols\.....
Can anyone tell me why the software would have been sent with blank pages? Is there a setting I am not seeing?
    KEN PANTHEN, Albany, NY

Did you access the Symbol files from Window>Symbol Libraries>(list). When you open one of the files directly, you need to look at the Symbol panel (Window>Symbol) for that file. All the Symbols for that file are located there. The file is just a way of making a library available.

  • Exported JPEG file sizes

A number of my images exported to JPEG have a larger file size than the original RAW file. My export is fairly basic, quality 100, color space sRGB, no resizing, no watermark. Anyone any idea why ? I thought JPEG were supposed to be compressed.

Possibly because you are not setting an output resolution so light room is making a best interpolation.
Try setting the dimensions you want or the dimension for the long edge and use a resolution of 300ppi for printing or 72 for uploading to the web.

  • Greyed out images; exports to Mail are blank; generating images issue

Selected images are greyed out in the main viewer; sending a reduced file size via Mail gives a blank mail, but with a selectable rectangle and correct file name with a size only around 25kb. Sending originals at 100% works OK. The generation of reduced size images seems to be causing the problem as I can view an image at 100% in the main viewing area. Exports seem to still work OK - again 100%.
I have deleted the prefs file. I have deleted the application, although reinstallation seems simply to un-delete, returning the app to 'as was'. I'm hopeful that reinstalling will cure this, but how does one remove the application completely?

I got another great answer from yahoo.
They told me to clear cookies, cache, etc...
    They said to reboot.
    They said to try opera.
It seems no one reads my emails there to support nor do they do proper troubeshooting.
I am in the IT field and I appreciate good support when I get it but unfortunately it's so rare.
The first thing they should be doing is trying to either replicate the issue or verify whether yahoo did any updates on their end.
Instead I'm being sent ridulous help links because they can't even read.
I've sent all information necessary from screenshots to os to devices.
Personally I believe yahoo made an update that's screwing everything up.
Not only have I done those things they suggested but I told them twice already.
The only thing I havent tried was opera. I tried 4 different browsers and none worked.
I tried opera just to shut them up and it didn't work either. It seems opera handles mobile mail differently than all the other browsers as they show no pictures at all. They aren't missing, they just arent there with how opera handles the mail. They instead give you a link to view the store advertisements.
I think I need to call them and see how far up the chain I can get with someone who can actually read and even troubleshoot.

  • Exported CSV files are locked by Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.63

Whenever I export my query result into a CSV file, the resulting file is always locked for editing by Oracle SQL Developer 2.1.0.63.
Have anybody encountered the same problem? Do you know how can I report this as a bug to Oracle?

I got it too if I left SQl Developer open then go to Excel to edit my CSV - got message 'table_export.csv is locked for editing by another user'. If I close SQL Developer then open the file, it works. Seems SQL Developer's holding onto the file after creation.

  • Published Captivate 7 files are blank

I just upgraded my Mac from 10.9 to 10.10 (Doh!! - but it was free). Now my Captivate project won't publish. First time I tried, it asked me if I wanted to view it after publishing, and saying yes, it showed me a blank html page. No error, just no content. There are about 40 slides with fifteen audio files. My Captivate version is 7.0.1.237. Near as I can tell, this is the latest. Is this just punishment for upgrading to a new operating system to quickly?

This sounds like the answer a bureaucrat might give; technically correct, but not especially helpful. Adobe says they work closely with Apple, but it looks like they either didn't know about Yosemite, or don't care about their Captivate 7 users.

  • Published php files are Blank

In Dreamweaver CS4 I can view and edit files. HOWEVER, when I "put" them they are published "blank" onto the internet.
There is the following error: news.php - error occurred - An FTP error occurred - cannot put news.php.  Access denied.  The file may not exist, or there could be a permission problem.   Make sure you have proper authorization on the server and the server is properly configured.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? Adobe support cannot help me they say it's in the .php scripting and code.

  • Is it possible to change each exported JPEG file name from "Export JPEG Slideshow"?

It is convenient to add each image name as a text on each figure by Slideshow.
Could I use each image name as the exported file name?
    thx a lot!

    Blendy,
You can follow the steps below to assign custom names to export files:
    File Naming
Choose an option from the Rename To pop-up menu.
If you chose an option that uses custom text, enter the custom name in the Custom Text box.
If you use a numeric sequence and you don’t want it to start with “1,” enter a different value in the Start Number text box.
For more options, choose Rename To > Edit.

  • Exported .mov files are all 0:00s

I exported my videos from iPhoto to external G-Drive to free up space on library, but now all videos on my hard drive appear as 0:00sec and are displayed as a  still when opened in Quicktime.  How can I get my videos working again??

If you exported them incorrectly and then deleted them from iPhoto and emptied the iPhoto trash and the syhstem trash before you tested the export then your only choice it to restore your backup of the iPhoto library from before you exporte them - then export as kind = original
You can check the iPhoto trash and the system trash to see if they might be there
