Exported once OK, can't export again - 18 hours for 11%?!

I exported a DVD once - it took, as expected, about 6 hours on a Win XP Home SP3 3Ghz 3.5Gb PC.
Except, I'd stuffed up and accidentally made the menu background into a movie itself.
So, next evening, I set it off again with the corrected menu - but next morning, it had only got to 70%. When I unlocked the PC, for the first time in month, it crashed. So I restarted it, and next evening, I set it off again! But next morning, it had only got to 11% in 10 hours!
When I cancelled it, it wouldn't close, and I had to force a quit, even though it wasn't showing as not responding. I cleared the media cache, tried again, but it was obvious it was going to take literally days.
Here's the silly thing - I fixed my menu problem using a tiny free bit of software called dvdshrink - I just loaded my previous "wrong" exported dvd files, did a screen grab of menu, and replaced the moving menu with the still screenshot. Works a treat, took 10 mins in all. Why the heck does PE have to re-compress the whole thing when old freeware does it by just replacing the section I wanted? No wonder I don't upgrade - don't trust it!
I noticed every time I close it now, even without forcing a quit, it also crashes and wants to send an error report that aslfoundation.dll has malfunctioned. I'll try ANOTHER re-install to fix that, too.

There are some DVD encoding functions that Premiere Elements doesn't do very efficiently. And even 6 hours to encode a DVD is way too many!
So, without knowing much about your source files, it could likely be that one of a number of things are going on:
1) You're using photos in your project that have not been resized to 1000x750 pixels in size. This is the chief cause for sluggish encoding and DVD transcoding crashes.
2) You're using a video source other than miniDV and you haven't optimized or converted your video files for best performance.
3) You're trying to squeeze more than 70 minutes of video on a DVD. A standard DVD holds about 60-70 minutes of video. A dual-layer disc holds about twice that.
4) You lack adequate free, defragmented hard drive space (ideally 30-50 gigabytes for every hour of your video's running time).
5) You haven't maintained or updated your operating system, per the FAQs to the right of this forum.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
To authorize a computer with iTunes, open iTunes and go to Store menu (on the menu bar, at the top of the iTunes window) > Authorize this Computer.
If you are using iTunes 11 for Windows, you may not be able to see the menu bar, so press Alt and S keys

  • Exporting error "Nothing can be exported until at least one setting is configured"

I imported a GPO Folder export into Microsoft Security Compliance Manager.
Then, I went to export it as SCCM DCM 2007 (.cab) so that I can prepare to import it into SCCM for Configuration Baseline data.
However, Compliance Manager throws me an error which I haven't run into on any other GPO's I've done the same process for.
Does anyone know what this mean and how I can fix this?
After import, I go to Export:
Save it as file name USGCB WIN7 User Settings_DCM.CAB
Immediately get this message, so it doesn't save after all:
    Microsoft Security Compliance Manager
Nothing can be exported until at least one setting is configured.
    OK
Does anyone know what needs to be configured? It seems to me the settings are configured? I haven't got this message until this one and I've done about 10 other exports with no issue.

Were you able to resolve this issue, I'm encountering the same exact issue (SCCM 2012 R2, SCM 3.0, trying to export a GPO, which was imported into SCM, in the hope of exporting it, to create a 'GPO baseline' in SCCM 2012).
    Regards TIA!

  • CS4 InDesign "Export" anything but: can't export to anything but PDF

After two uninstallation/reinstallations of the whole frickin' CS4 Master Collection, and deleting the Defaults file repeatedly, InDesign still refuse to Export anything other than the first format that displays (usually, PDF -- although once I got it to display XML).
Go to Export, select INX as type, file name shows as *.pdf - swipe off PDF, even insert ".INX", click Save and the "Export Adobe PDF" dialog displays. It's not only driving me nuts, but I have a printer who is on CS3 and I have a brochure that needs to be printed, now...
Bless anyone who has a clue or idea or registry hack...
Later: Export works fine from my laptop. The only difference is that, yes, I got suckered into downloading the final-that-wasn't, but had left CS3 installed. Re-downloaded and installed the final-that-is, uninstalled CS3, re-installed the final-that-is, then went on to a couple of more reinstallations (on my workstation). For the laptop, I'd initially uninstalled CS3, then went through the final-that-wasn't and final-that-is dance.
I suspect there is a registry key somewhere that I can't locate...

    >Note to Peter: the first download release of the Master Collection had a beta version of Photoshop. Uninstalling the whole thing was the only way to fix it.
Ouch. And that probably explains what happened to the OP. A corollary to my above post is that people who download the first release version (or install from the disks before the first service release) are only slightly less at risk for problems than beta testers. When we work on the cutting edge, occasionally we shed a little blood. :)

  • OEM 9i - Login Once, then can't login again

I have installed Oracle 9i, Personal installation on a Windows XP Pro machine.
After setting the new password for SYSTEM and SYS during setup, I was able to log in to my database (PRACTICE) one time. I close OEM and start it again, and the login screen just sits there after I hit "OK".
I stop and restart Oracle services and get the same thing. However, if I reboot I can again login one time. Then I cannot log in unless I reboot.

    This doesn't seem right.
I paid for a rental and downloaded an HD movie, Avatar. I could start watching within about a minute, it played without skipping a beat.
My wife started watching the movie the next night and got about half way through.
The next day, she tried watching the rest, and selected the film and clicked on "resume watching".
But instead of streaming and playing like it should, we got the spinning wheel of death followed by a message "Ready to play in 1 minute" which soon became "Ready to play in 2351 minutes"!
Additional information that I can add is that it was Sunday afternoon which is peak time for internet usage and I'd just exhausted my data allowance before the speed limiting kicks in. Basic internet using browsers at that time was really slow.
So it was as though the movie we were going to resume watching was going to be downloaded from the iTunes Store again, and since my connection had been speed limited, it was going to take forever. I thought you downloaded a rental to your hard drive and it deleted itself after it expired? So any subsequent streaming to AppleTV would be coming direct from your hard drive. It shouldn't have been affected by the speed of my internet connection at that time, surely. Anyone else experienced this?
Actually, I just noticed this post, I'm sure it's related...:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12398832&#12398832

  • USING DISCOVERER DESKTOP CAN'T EXPORT AND GET ERROR ORA-00000

we use a win 2000 server to export discoverer reports by command-line methods. In the past ,everything is ok. But from last week , we found some reports always keep in export phase and can't export anything, also with ora-00000 error.
there are 2 things should be mentioned:
    1. in the past , these reports can export without any error
    2. we can export the same reports normally on another server(but we don't want to change server for some reason)
I know Oracle suggest we update to discoverer 10g, but it can't tell me why another client can export normally
    so where is the cause?
    Discoverer Desktop version - 4.1.46.08.00
    EBS version - 11.5.9

    Hi
    Presumably you have tried rebooting?
If you have windows updates set to automatic it is possible that one of the recently applied updates has done this.
    Best wishes

  • Can I undo "Erase mac" setting for Stolen, but returned devices??

Can I undo "Erase mac" setting for Stolen, but returned devices?? Laptop bag with MacBook Pro, iPad and Android Tablet were stolen at a tradeshow last week - so I found the ERASE setting thru iCloud - NOW the devices are all FOUND and being shipped back to me. (HORRAY!!) But, is there a way to UNDO the Erase setting that I clicked on?

    Hello there, sunny_and72.
Great news on finding your lost devices! That has got to be a major relief. The following Knowledge Base article offers the possible ways of restoring your data onto your devices after an erase has been performed:
    iCloud: Erase your device
If you erase then find your iOS device, you can restore the information on the device using iCloud Backup (if backup was turned on before you erased it) or iTunes. For more information, see iCloud storage and backup overview, or the Safety, Handling & Support section of the iOS 8 user guide for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. If your device has iOS 7 or earlier, get the user guide from the Apple Support website.
If you erase then find your Mac, you can restore the information on the Mac using a Time Machine backup. For more information, see the Apple Support article Recover your entire system. If you set an EFI firmware password on your Mac before it was lost, then erase it and later find it, you may need to take your Mac to an authorized repair center to unlock it before you can use it again.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Can I export a sequence without rerendering the entire thing again?

    Using the latest FCP..
Im working on a project with some heavy boris effects stuff... SLOW SLOW rendering.. The entire sequence is already rendered.. but when I go to export the sequence as a QT movies.. using the current settings.. it wants to rerender the **** thing.. 4+ hours.. instead of just spitting out a QT built with the ALREADY rendered sequences.. The timeline is 1080i XDCAM. The sequences is only 5 minutes long.. So it should export in a matter of minutes if it didnt want to RERENDER EVERYTHING..
This is killing me right now..
Can I export a sequence without rerendering the entire thing again?

    Joe
Lets start at the bottom and work back ....
What is your target format? You want to export the sequence but for what purpose? Is it for broadcast delivery, for burning to DVD, for web, or ....?
You note that the timeline is 1080i XDCAM ... well that is a native Long GOP format. When you export it as a single self contained clip then all those GOP structures that make up the different elements of your sequenvce must be broken down and re-conformed into a singole semaless GOP structure that describes the whole. Thats why it is re-rendering.
And GOP's are a hog to decode and encode ... thats why you're seeing such SLOW SLOW rendering.
Suggestion number 1) Set your sequence's Render codec to ProRes 422 ... th erender files will be bigger but they rendering itself will be much faster.
Suggestion number 2) If you are not exporting back to XDCAM media specifically then there is no real reason to export your edit as XDCAM HD. Try exporting as ProRes 422 (as per the render setting) ie choose Export > Quicktime Movie w/ Setting: Apple ProRes 422 (+not Current Settings+)
Suggestion number 3) If you are working on a big and powerful mac like the latest and greatest MacPro's, then in future just set your sequence codec to ProRes 422 and edit the XDCAM files directly in that ProRes 422 timeline, when done then Export > Quicktime Movie w/ Current Settings
    Hope thats helpful

  • How do I move a movie I have synced from iTunes into the "Movies" tab of the Video App? I need to access a slideshow I made in IMovies and may not have WiFi. I did it once, but can't figure out how to do it again! The file is an m4v. Thank you!

Im just guessing but it seems like you would have to get your movie into the correct folder on a computer then use iTunes to sync it to your iPad. If you've synced to a computer and have movies then on your computer should be a folder with the movie in it. You could export your iMovie to something like Dropbox then download from Dropbox to the folder you think it needs to be in the sync your iPad again. Again this is just a guess. Others may have a better answer.

  • I can't export uncompressed videos

I'm trying to export my videos as uncompressed AVIs so I can compress them on a seperate encoder, H.264, so I can put them on youtube and retain high quality videos.  However, every time I try to do this, once it's finished exporting, I click the video to test it and I only get the audio.  I doesn't matter how big or small the video is or what's on it, whenever I try to export an uncompressed video, I lose the actual video in the process.
So is there a way to fix this? Or if not, is there a way I can export the video without the enormous loss in quality I get whenever I do an AVI export? Thanks

sorry I wasn't being very specific.  When I said uncompressed AVI, I mean the videos were orignially AVIs and I simply wanted them to be returned as the raw footage but in the reorganized, edited form I put them in.  Like rearanging the videos without having to encode them again and deal with the loss of quality.  Virtual Dub does this but it's harder to work with and more limited than premiere pro.
Still not specific enough. There are two ways of exporting an uncompressed AVI from Premiere Pro: you can set the Format as Uncompressed Microsoft AVI (which you shouldn't; that's only for AJA hardware), or you can set the Format to Microsoft AVI, and then select "None" from the codec dropdown. It's the latter than you want to do.
You might want to look into the Lagarith Lossless Video Codec or the Ut Video Codec Suite; both are free visually lossless codecs that will be smaller than uncompressed. They'll appear as codec options under Microsoft AVI. Lagarith installs both x86 and x64 (required for CS5) versions; for Ut, you need to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit packages.

  • How can I export Discoverer reports automatically from within PLUS ?

    Hi,
I want to export Discoverer Repors it to PDF file. I can manually export my report as an PDF file, Now I would like to run this report and export the
PDF once a day automatically. Has anyone done something like this on
    a Windows server?

    Any help.
    Thanks,

Do NOT attempt to use CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES=>GUI_DOWNLOAD.  This class and method is for use through the SAPGui and will NOT work within BSP.  This information is completely incorrect!
There are lots of existing Weblogs on this subject.  Have a look through them for solutions that do work.

  • How can I export a RAW photo from iphoto to anywhere without it changing into a jpg?

How can I export a RAW photo from iphoto to anywhere (PSE, or desktop) without it changing into a jpg???

See if any of this info will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • How can i export a series of images in different aspect ratios to the same height

How can i export a series of images in different aspect ratios to the same height?
I wish to make a slider callery for my website. all the images need to be 750 Pixels high, the width does not matter.  I have a mixture of square pandscap and protraite images can i do thing as one export or do i have to do it twice?  Once for long edge and once for shot edge?
    Thanks

Yes, you can but there is a trick to it.
In the Export Dialog under <Image Sizing> select Widdth & Height.
Then enter 750 pixels for Height.
Put your cursor into the Width field behind all the numbers that appear there and with the backspace key delete the numbers. If you enter "0" it will not accept that. But it accepts when you just delete the field for Width with the backspace key. The Width field will now be just blank.
When you then export all image will  have a height of 750 pixels and the width will fall variously according to thne height / width ratio.
Or alternatively you can enter 7.5" for height at a resolution of 100 ppi.
