Exported Photos for Photoshop

Hi,
Is there an efficient way to export ONLY THE PHOTOS USED for Photoshop touchup? I was thinking to tell my Photoshop guy to make a new folder called Re-Touched and put the photos in there with the names as I gave it to him. This way I can re-connect the new Photos more easily (while hiding the un-touched photos). Is there a better way to do this?
Thanks.

To quickly identify the photos you used in a sequence, select all in your timeline (CMD+A) and then right click and choose Label and pick a color.
All the clips and photos in your sequence will turn the color you chose, and so will their corresponding master clips in the browser. From there just select the color-coded photos to export.

Exporting photos for UHDTV or Native 4K TV, what are the best settings ? (File: Quality File: Color Space, Image Sizing and resolution)   Or in other words; How can I get the smallest files but keep good quality for display on new UHDTV

You're welcome, and thank you for the reply.
    2) Yesterday I made the subclips with the In-Out Points and Command-U, the benefit is that I've seen the clip before naming it. Now I'm using markers, it's benefit is that I can write comment and (the later) clip name at once, the drawback is that I have to view to the next shot's beginning before knowing what the shot contains.
But now I found out that I can reconnect my clips independently to the format I converted the master clip to. I reconnected the media to the original AVI file and it worked, too! The more I work with, the more I'm sold on it... - although it doesn't seem to be able to read and use the date information within the DV AVI.
    1) Ok, I tried something similar within FCE. Just worked, but the file size still remains. Which codec settings should I use? Is the export to DV in MOV with a quality of 75% acceptable for both file size and quality? Or would be encoding as H.264 with best quality an option for archiving, knowing that I have to convert it back to DV if I (maybe) wan't to use it for editing later? Or anything else?
    Thank's in advance again,

Are you using the Adobe Elements Organizer to manage the photos?  You'll need to export/save a full sized copy to the Desktop, import the file from there to iPhoto and then delete the copy on the Desktop.

  • Exporting photos for the internet

In the aperture preferences, what are the setting for exporting photos so they are web page friendly?  I know 72dpi, anything else I need to know?  Thanks

I know 72dpi, anything else I need to know?
For an internet page the dpi do not really matter, since a didgital image does not have physical dimensions. dpi are relevant when scanning printed photos or printing photos with a minimum resolution of points per inch.
For uploading to the internet the pixelsize matters - the total number of pixels should be not larger than necessary for the page where you will displaying your photos. If the image box for your photos is 1024by1024 pixels, set the "size-to" in the export preset to "Fit within" 1024 pixels. And select Jpeg format with a modetate jpeg quality setting, not much higher than 8. It will depend on the amaount of fine details in your photos and the contrast, how much you can lower the quality settings without making your image looking bad.
You can change the settings for the jpeg quality in the Image export  presets drop down menu, when you select "Edit".

  • Exporting photos for email question

In Mac OS 9 my Quicktime Pictureviewer would quickly open my large JPG files and then I could simply click file export (while viewing each photo) and Pictureviewer would automatically resize (to around 800x600) and compress the photos as I exported them.
Is there an easy way to do this now in Tiger? I can do it through my version of Photoshop elements, but it is a pain in Elements 2.0 as I have to resize each time, and click several other options to finally get what I want (a compressed 800x600 file under 200kb). In a nutshell, Elements just makes it too tedious to do when, say, I have a hundred or so photos I took and want to very quickly export them to a folder that I later mass email to family and friends.
Any suggestions on how I can do this with what comes with Tiger (like Preview) or if I upgrade to Quicktime Pro will I then get a Pictureviewer for OS X that will do what I use to do?

    First of all, thanks!
I did open mail and dragged the photo files to the mail window (I'm emailing to someone) and then on the bottom of the mail window clicked small and it reduced those photos to what I wanted.
My question to you is when you speak of "iPhoto," is iPhoto apart of my X Tiger or is iPhoto an Apple internet service? I couldn't find "iPhoto" using Spotlight as being on my computer. When I double click a photo image I have on my computer, "Preview" opens. Is "Preview" a version of/or is the same as "iPhoto?" I can't find anywhere in Preview where I can click a button to email the photo I'm currently viewing.
    Much thanks in advance.

Exporting photos for use on Windows through the Finder (not through Share) does not allow the titles I have attachged to the photos to be expored along with them. Does anyone know a way that will allow this?

Use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option.  In the export window select Use Title in the File Name drop down menu.  That will replace the original file names with the titles you assigned in iPhoto.

Using 6-7 year old software that's no longer receiving updates & was never designed to run on 10.10 is asking for trouble.   That said, try re-installing PS and installing Java SE6

  • Using an external editor (e.g., photoshop) with photos for mac

    Hi,
I'm just trying out photos for mac. So far it seems to make life a lot easier in terms of syncing libraries. However, I have been using Lightroom 4 and photoshop before and I am missing out on some of their combined functionality (not much I have to confess). What I want to know is this - is there an easy way to open files with an external editor e.g., photoshop so I can use it (photoshop) to stitch together panoramas or merge HDRs?
I'm surprised this functionality isn't included in photos from the beginning. I can see there is talk of plugins but can't find ANY online at the moment.
    Thanks.

    Mr Ben,
I am having similar difficulty finding programs that offer 'extensions' within the Photos App.
I think that gone are the days when we could perform an 'Edit with...'
My understanding is that Apple has only opened 'Extensions for Photos editing' for IOS.  It hasn't yet made it available as an option for OS X.
I hope this changes, as many serious photographers migrating from Aperture and now using Photos on OS X will want to perform additional edits with third party software without having to export and then re-import images - as seems to be the only solution at the moment.
Hopefully, behind the scenes there is a mad flurry of activity by App producers to create extensions for OS X that will eventually be switched on by Apple.
I would love to know. Can anyone from Apple please advise?

  • Exporting Photo Library to USB for customer to print

I have just begun taking photos for customers but I am not sure how to put their photos onto a CD or USB for them to be able to print them as they please. I use a Canon 50d, upload my photos into Iphoto '08, do some editing in Photoshop CS3. Can someone please explain what I should be doing so my customers can print a 4 x 6 as well as a poster size print. At the moment I am finding the files are too big for some size prints. Also sometimes my photos cannot be accessed on a normal computer. Please help as I am completely lost as to what the procedure should be.
    Thanks

Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export them to a Folder on the Desktop. Then you can drag this folder a CD to burn, or to a USB device.
As to the printing size: This is entirely a matter for whatever printing service they use. You simply export the files at the largest pixels dimension you have.

  • I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Element

I have Photoshop Elements 12 for both PC and Mac (I use both). I have a new camera, Nikon D810. I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw, 8.8. My D810 is listed as a supported camera model. However, when I try to open a raw photo in Photoshop Elements, I keep getting the message "Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. I have tried reinstalling Camera Raw many times, and have tried to open many different raw files in Elements, and still get the same error message. Please help.

How did you try to install ACR 8.8.  The only way I know of that works with Elements is to use the Updates Choice on the Help menu.
There are two charts supplied by Adobe that explain your RAW dilemma.  This one tells you what your camera needs:  http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html   This one tells you what version of software you need:  http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
In your case, the Nikon D810 needs Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) 8.6 or Lightroom 5.6.  (Congratulations on buying a new camera!)
To get to that level with Photoshop Elements, you will need to replace your Photoshop Elements 12 with version 13.   Adobe caps ACR updates on version 12 at 8.5.
The most convenient way to get around it without spending any money is to use the FREE from Adobe DNG Converter.  Download and install it from here for FREE:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=5855&fileID=5890  Once it is installed you can convert your D810 raw files to an Adobe RAW version with the .DNG file extension that most, if not all, versions of the various Adobe software programs can use.  That includes old versions of Photoshop, Elements and Lightroom.  DNG converter can be used as the tool to move your files from your memory card to your computer, is efficient, will convert in batches and is completely lossless.  There is no risk of any image quality degradation or RAW functionality.

  • Sending a photo heavy PDF for book printing on a web press.  Convert photo in photoshop first or Acrobat 11?

    Hi,
The printing company for our photo book on Loons, uses roll fed web presses.  They have asked for a pdf set to X-1a.
First soft proof was light and washed out.  Printer had us increase saturation and contrast.  Second proof
all our blue water photos come out more purple then blue.
We currently  used srgb jpeg photos embedded in a ms word document.  We used acrobat 11 to create the pdf using the request X-1a
    setting.
Should we have converted the photos in photoshop to the requested setting first and then embedded them in word?
    Thanks for any help.

Can you show us screen shots of your X-1 PDF Settings ( i.e., Color )?  The reason why I ask is my default Distiller PDF-X1a:2001 Settings use a working space of RGB = sRGB IEC61966-2.1; and CMYK = US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 with the "Color Management Policies: "Convert All Colors to CMYK" ( default ); Rendering Intent ( default is "Preserve" ).  Have you discussed these settings with the print service provider?  These settings, if they are identical in Acrobat 11, would appear to have the same RGB work space as your original sRGB based pics. I sense that Word, although not a color managed application, would work as an image carrier into Acrobat 11 where the image files may retain their profiles going into Acrobat 11 and remain intact going out of Acrobat 11 via a PDF-X1a.  In which case, the print service provider then RIP and Prints the file for a hardcopy proof. In your case, the previous digital printer did a good job reproducing the photos as you supplied them, Word or no Word.  The question now becomes what changed with this new service provider?  Their prepress people must of accepted your documents and pushed them through their workflow.  So, what changed? I know of no way to "swap" images using Acrobat.  In your case, it may be a matter of saving a second set of files or the entire book document as a copy and replacing the pics in that file, then create a second PDF-X1a file.  And, as a third option, use InDesign ( however, no point in using it until you've determined where the problem with quality lies ).  If I assume the printer told you that the sRGB files were sufficient and, if you used the X-1 PDF Settings when Saving As > PDF, that would be their preferred workflow and the image files rendered dull and unsaturated ( as they did in your case ), and the printer recommended you increase the saturation and HUE of the images ( which he did ) and the entire workflow worked for a digital printer in the past ( which it did ), then something changed with this new print service provider.  You have to find out from them what it could be.  It could be something with their direct-to-plate equipment.  I believe it merits further research and development with the new service provider.  There is a solution.  You just have to find it.
"Once the pdf is created could I swap out the photos
for ones that had been converted from RGB to CMYK in photoshop with  Rendering Intent and Black Point Compensation etc. filled. "...
Wait a minute.  You did a RGB-to-CMYK conversion in Photoshop?  Why?  I thought you embedded the RGB files in Word?  Then, Acrobat did the conversion using the X-1 settings mentioned above.
"How hard would it be to dump my word document into InDesign with  the newly created RGB or CMYK photos would it work better?  Is the learning curve too much of a hassle for one off?"...
Yes it would.  But, your procedures worked for the digital printer.  Why not now with the new printer?  That's my question.  Since Acrobat's X-1 settings have a work space of sRGB ( assumed ), then your sRGB files should render appropriately and they do not.  You have to find out what works for this new print service provider and, whatever Photoshop Color Setting RGB workspace you use, use it in Acrobat 11.  Discuss the entire document and Photoshop setups with the new print service provider.

  • Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

iPhoto does work and there is an upgrade:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • Two-fold question, can I export pictures from iphoto to an external drive? I have not been able to create volumes on My Passport for Mac when exporting photos, why is that?

I have a Mac Book Pro that I use iphoto 6 for my pictures. However, I noticed my hard drive was filling up too rapidly so I purchased a WD My Passport for Mac 500GB. I select photos(the number does not matter), click File>export, and select the location(and yes, I specify the size of picture's maximum, and the file extension, and I click Export and the export initializes and then stops. Telling me that it is unable to create the volumes ont the My Passport. There is plenty of space on the hard drive. I don't know what I am doing wrong. It seems like the process should be very simple to MOVE, COPY, EXPORT photos. Why is this so difficult? What am I doing wrong?

My photo library cumulative is maybe 1.3 GB tops, however I back it up to the external drive every upload. I don't think the issue is converting calculations because as I said in my previous post, sometimes when I stop transfer to the SD flash drive and restart the copying process it will complete the library of 60-80 photos in about 2 minutes like it should. The issue is that it will not proceed to copy most of the time, and the copying status bar says preparing for a long time
