Exported photos to email

When exporting to email, my photos always appear small in mail. How do you export photos to email in Aperture and make them larger?

Also remember in the mail message at the bottom is an Image Size pulldown
How that is set affects how the image appears in the mail message but does't affect the actual size of the attached image.

Most of the time, but not all, when exporting photos by email, it takes a long time then fails, how do I fix?

You can stop that behavior by changing two settings within the browser. Go to Tools -> Options and click on the CONTENT button. Make sure that "Block pop-up windows" is checked. Then click on the ADVANCED button on the far right and add a check to "Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload".
That should stop most of them. If not all, then you could install AdBlock Plus add-on, since most of the redirects are ad generated. (Tools -> Add-ons -> Get Add-ons)

Since installing Maverick, speed has slowed down considerably. Not able to export photos form email to iphoto. What is going on?

    When did you install?
Spotlight will need to re-index the entire system so that can cause slow performance if you updated recently. It can take many hours on a large disk with a lot of data. Click the Spotlight menu, it should say if it is still indexing.
There is no point trying to fix anything whilst this is ongoing, because it may just speed up when complete.
Are you able to drag photos from email to the Desktop or to iPhoto's icon? How about the 'File menu > Save attachments' option?
Please clarify what you have tried, otherwise we may waste time on the wrong thing.
If the system is generally unstable there are other things to try too, such as safe boot.

That will isolate all third party software, if the Mac is able to do the things that didn't work it suggests that you have software that is loading at startup or login. The easiest way for us to see these is if you download EtreCheck & generate a report.
Post the report here & we can try pointing to items that you can either update or remove.

  • Exporting photos for email question

In Mac OS 9 my Quicktime Pictureviewer would quickly open my large JPG files and then I could simply click file export (while viewing each photo) and Pictureviewer would automatically resize (to around 800x600) and compress the photos as I exported them.
Is there an easy way to do this now in Tiger? I can do it through my version of Photoshop elements, but it is a pain in Elements 2.0 as I have to resize each time, and click several other options to finally get what I want (a compressed 800x600 file under 200kb). In a nutshell, Elements just makes it too tedious to do when, say, I have a hundred or so photos I took and want to very quickly export them to a folder that I later mass email to family and friends.
Any suggestions on how I can do this with what comes with Tiger (like Preview) or if I upgrade to Quicktime Pro will I then get a Pictureviewer for OS X that will do what I use to do?

    First of all, thanks!
I did open mail and dragged the photo files to the mail window (I'm emailing to someone) and then on the bottom of the mail window clicked small and it reduced those photos to what I wanted.
My question to you is when you speak of "iPhoto," is iPhoto apart of my X Tiger or is iPhoto an Apple internet service? I couldn't find "iPhoto" using Spotlight as being on my computer. When I double click a photo image I have on my computer, "Preview" opens. Is "Preview" a version of/or is the same as "iPhoto?" I can't find anywhere in Preview where I can click a button to email the photo I'm currently viewing.
    Much thanks in advance.

  • I have a Mac Book Pro (13" )laptop and cannot export photos from I Photo to my desktop or to a flash drive.

I am trying to export photos from Iphoto to a folder on my desktop and seem to be unable to do this as a big X appears on the bottom of the photo and it says it can not export photo.  Any ideas how to solve this problem so that I can download photos from I photo to my desktop?

    Barbara ..
You can export photos  via email, a MobileMe Gallery, Flickr, Facebook, Photo Stream, iWeb, or to a burn folder but not to a folder on your Desktop or a flash drive.
Workaround is to connect the flash drive then drag the photos from your iPhoto library to the flash drive icon on the Desktop.

I never had to do this before I upgraded to Mountian Lion (and the latest update to that whcih was released last week).

I thought the problem I have may be with iPhoto. However, I have just updated iPhoto '11 to version 9.4 and the problem persists.

  • How to export photos from ipad to sd card

For some reason my ipad doesn't recongize readers attached.  Or maybe a better question is how do I know if ipad recognizes reader? How do I export photos from ipd to SD card?

You can only use the kit to copy photos from a card (or direct from a camera) to the iPad's Photos app, you can't use it to copy content off the iPad.
To copy photos to the iPad via the kit, then if you are copying the photos onto the card yourself from your computer then you will need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them
To copy photos taken with the iPad, copied to via the kit or saved from emails/websites etc from the iPad to your computer : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083

I am trying to send as attachement. I have tried to screen shot but must not have a clue how to!  Is there a number someone can walk me through this.. or if you could tell me how to screen shot it. I am trying the print screen but not working. I have never done on  a computer before. My system is Dell Pentium Dual Core [email protected]   4.00GB  64 Bit Windows Vista. I tried to download a trial of LR4 so I could get some work done until prob fixed but it tells me my system not compatible. I am thinking of creative cloud but will this work with my system. I use LR for 100% of my editing but have been doing other things (newborns) where I feel I need CS6. If you could let me know what I need to do to run the new LR and CS6 that would be great. (Really need a computer class)! Thanks

  • Iphoto won't share photos by email, share file won't open.

iphoto won't share photos by email, share file won't open. what do I do?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Share photos by email - where are the templates ?

Hello, can anyone tell me where in Aperture 3 are the nice looking pre-made templates which exist in iPhoto when sharing photos by email?
    Thxs,

I just tried it from Aperture and it works great. All you have to do is select the photos you want to email from within Aperture. Right click, output, email and Mac Mail will open placing the photos you've selected in a new mail dialogue box. Once they are there, just click Stationary (which is in the upper right portion of the new mail dialogue box toolbar. After you click stationary, pick the template that you want, and the photos are automatically dropped into place. If you don't like the template, you can choose another and the photos automatically switch into the new template. If you don't like the arrangement, just drag the images around and they will automatically switch positions. It really couldn't be easier. And remember, you have the ability to control the quality of the image that is sent via the Aperture preferences, export tab. I don't think it matters when you are using templates, but for future reference, you should set this the way you want from the beginning so that the images get sent at the quality you want.
    I hope this helps.

  • Export photos to ipad

How do I export photos to my ipad. I have been emailing one at a time which is very time consuming

You can upload them to a dropbox account and download them onto your iPad
You can download the iCloud control panel and enable photostream and sync them that way
You can use iTunes. Connect your iPad to the syncing computer, click on the name of your device and navigate to the photos tab. Choose the folder to sync (it syncs one folder only at a time, so I'd suggest copying the photos you want on there into their own folder and then syncing that so you don't end up with the entirity of 'my photos' on your device.
There are also photo managing apps you can get that have greater functionality than your iPad.
And you can e-mail more than one at a time. Usually the only limit is how big your e-mail provider allows you to send.
Any of the above will work, just a matter of which way you want to use. One thing to note, with the iTunes method, what you sync on you have to sync off, you can't simply delete them from the iPad.

  • When I export photos, the dates are sometimes changed

When I export photos from iPhoto, the date information seems to get lost for some of my photos.  For example, I have an event with four photos taken on January 30, 2006.  In iPhoto they show up with that date.  When I export the original photos from the event, I get jpeg image files with a creation date of January 1, 2000, and with no date information in the EXIF data.
I understand that the creation date of the file may not be date/time that the photo was taken, but in that case the info should be in the EXIF data, shouldn't it?  iPhoto has that data somewhere. How do I get it to export it?
This only happens with some of my photos, btw.
    I'm using iPhoto '11, version 9.4.3.

If you changed the dates in iPhoto then when you did it you had the option to write to the Original. You could try that again, say, adding an hour to the time or somesuch, and this time check the box to 'Modify Original Files'.
Otherwise, exporting the originals will export precisely that... Tha files as imported.
Current has poor support for metadata. That's what you get from a media browser - so it's designed for dragging images into word processing documents or a casual email to grandma - in other words times when the exif doesn't matter.
If you export as Jpeg (or tiff) you should get the dates.
