Exported Project via Quicktime Conversion-Some scenes "tear" at the top
I have completed a 17 min project made up mostly of photo/stills. Some have motion added some dont---it doesn't seem to matter to my problem: when I exported the project using Quick Time Conversion I noticed as I checked it prior to using iDVD to burn it to DVD that during cross dissolves and some other transitions there was a "digitized tearing" or pixels slow in locking into place in the upper 1/5th or so of the screen. I had not noticed this problem in previewing the rendered project prior to export. Using FCE v3.5HD. Anyone seen this problem? Is there a problem with some of the transitions or was it something that occurred in the export? I tried to burn to DVD via iDVD so I could see if the problem was off the top of the screen, but apprently I did something wrong during use of iDVD. When the iMac ejected the DVD after burn, I tried playing on a set-top and it wouldn't play, nor could I get it to play in the iMac. I also had difficulty getting the iMac to eject this DVD.
It sounds as if you have multiple problems here. The first problem is that QuickTime Conversion is not the way to export to iDVD. You should export to QuickTime Movie.

I'm having problems to export projects using QUICKTIME COMPRSESION. When I select either "quicktime movie" or "AVI", the result is a totally pixelated picture. I tried to do some settings in order to fix this problem but still doing the same. Make a note that only happens when I use QUICK TIME COMPRESION. It works fine when I select "quicktime movie" directly from export menu. i can use this to work onmy MAC but. it will not work with Vegas or whatsoever. SOME HELP WILL BE APRECIATED.

I have a MacBook Pro (Retina) and a Sony HandyCam DCR-HC48 video Camera. The Sony only exports video via Firewire, which is not available on the Mac. Is there a firewire to USB or to HDMI adapter?

I have successfully exported subtitles (XML files) from FC version 7 to FC version 6, by choosing Apple XML Interchange Format Version 4. Now the exported subtitles suddenly read in one long line, at the top, not registering any "Enter" keystrokes. The same happens even if I re-import the XML file into Final Cut Version 7 (from where I exported the subtitles). Any tips on how to fix this?

Please help. export .wmv file via QuickTime Conversion
Use FCP HD 4.5 QuickTime Conversion to export a short movie which is about 2 mintues long. I only can get exported files in 30 seconds no matter I selected default format QuickTime Moive or Windows Media. Any thing I missed?

thanksIt means your material is outside of 'safe' levels...luminance, chrominance or both.
Quick fix...apply Broadcast safe filter
Best fix...use Color Corrector 3-way.

Final Cut Pro 4: Problems exporting video using QuickTime conversion
just recently updated my Mac to version 10.4.11 -
Ever since, Final Cut Pro won't let me Export my video using QuickTime Conversion.
Its starts exporting, then freezes at 79%. A general error message pops up.
I know its not a space issue, because I have 20GB left and the video i'm exporting is only 2 GB.
I installed all the software updates.
Can anyone help? Do I need a new version of Final Cut?1) this is the final cut express forum not the pro.
2) 10.4.6 is not the latest, try updating to 10.4.11
3) after any system update you must run disk utility to repair permissions or errors that may not have been addressed during the upgrade process.
4) have you tried exporting as a reference movie then playing it in qtpro, if ok then export.
5) what are you trying to export too? -
[Fixed] Xfce + Compiz : tearing at the top of the screen

Since a few weeks, both my desktop (GTX 680) and laptop (GT 555M) suffer from tearing.
in 1/4 of the screen ( from the top) : tearing, while moving windows and video playback.
On the 3/4 of the screen I have no tearing at all.
Been searchling for 3 days with my friend Google, tried all the "fix" available but none worked.
Followed the Arch wiki, no way.
Tried with 4 different NVidia drivers, with no luck...
Tried with no files in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d and no xorg.conf, still tearing.
I can easily swear that it worked fine let's say one month ago, so please stop accusing my good-old-compiz-that-works-like-a-charm.
Tried with another compositor : still tearing.
I just don't know what to do

Unfortunately it is probably an issue with compiz. I built it from the AUR a few weeks ago and had the exact same issue. This also carried over when I was testing an Ubuntu 12.04 box with the comipz that it comes with.
Xfce has no way to handle tearing compared to KDE or GNOME. So, unless you're using a different compositor you're going to have issues.
Compton might work for you, but for me it would shut off whenever I started a video game.
You can also use Kwin with XFCE as a replacement for compiz. The 4.11 version has support for Wayland, but it causes issues for me.
You can also try adding this (http://wiki.manjaro.org/index.php?title … ary_driver). Unfortunately you will probably have to turn off Compiz with this fix, as you are layering vsync over multiple times, which might cause frame drops.
If none of these help the last resort you have is to switch desktops. For me, Cinnamon and Gnome have no issues. KDE gave me issues, but it might work for you. Until Wayland is fully implemented this is something that we will have to deal with for awhile. -
When I Export Project it messes up first scene... appears to get hung up and jumpy
I just made a music video on final cut pro x. My first scene looks fine when i watch while editing but once i export it to anything the first scene begins to jump like it is hung up! ive tried everything and dont know how to fix it! Help please
Did you try tapping on the downloads tab in iTunes? If it will not let you navigate anywhere else in the app, quit and the app and then go back.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close iTunes by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the iTunes icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Tap the Home button and then launch iTunes again and see if you can go to the downloads tab. -

have you tried to connect on the command line (instead of using R3trans) ?
db2 connect to AE1 user sapae1 using .....
If this works and you have verified that the DB2DB6EKEY is set properly, use dscdb6up to update the password in the password file dscbd6.conf.
Then try again to use R3trans to connect.

Why do I lose some file options in the top menu bar?
When I sign into adobe acrobat cloud - it will provide me with options for files, send, fill & sign, but also combine files, etc.
A few times it has reset and all of a sudden I lose the options at the top to create pdfs, combine files - and will only allow me to see the options for files, send, fill & sign (when what I really need to do is combine a file or create a pdf). Am I doing something to lose or hide the menu options? How do I get them back? Thanks!Best option is to refresh the browser and the missing tools should show up.

Why do some apps hover under the top and not able to click'
This has been happening since I got my iphone 3gs back in January. My photos and facebook and other apps, at least 3 times a week, Im unable to click anything becuz they "hover" under the bar at the top. When its like this, I cant actually click anything, when its my photo albums doing it...it shows the albums but theyre all UNDER the top and cannot be clicked. How can I fix this? Ive talked with an apple associate in store and they said just reboot my phone when this happens...but its happening more often now and with more apps. They STILL say reboot but I shouldnt have to reboot any cell phone daily. HOW CAN I FIX THIS?
PS- I know this photo doesnt look bad, but it is bad when you cant click anything....it happens to my albums all the time

I am having a problem with exporting videos via Quicktime. Instead of taking all the cores on the Mac Pro it seems to take only ~10% of all the cores.
Is there a setting in iMovie that would allow me to actually make real use of all the 8 cores in the Mac Pro instead of having to wait 5+ hours for an hour of video to be encoded?Michael Kalus wrote:

iLife apps use only one core.
don't expect wonders from a 20$ app..
probably 'Grand Central', a feature of SnowLeopard http://www.apple.com/macosx/snowleopard/ , adds multi-core support.. -
QUICKIE - default settings for quicktime conversion export
Hi All...
Is it possible to set the default settings to still image when choosing export via quicktime conversion?
I do a lot of frame grabs and at present whenever i do an export via QT Conversion i have to change the default from movie to still image...can still image be set to the default and therefore be selected when QT Conversion is selected from export options?
I think that is comprehensive enough a question!
Thanks for any help or guidance..it will save a lot of mouse clicking if it is possible.

If I didn't get out of my "comfort zone" my style wouldn't change, I wouldn't be able to handle OS and suite updates, let alone move away from linear suites.
I understand that some people might want a quick and easy solution, a single button press, but this solution sounds like it isn't so hard to make editors run and hide.
If they do baulk and cry, I would suggest you find some new editors; cause they are never going to adapt and give your clients top quality stylish work. -
Exporting Quicktime conversion
I've got some DVCPro HD footage from an HVX I shot recently and edited. I'm trying to export the cut via Quicktime conversion H264. It exports fine but always 4X3 (Squeezed). I can't find a setting to tell it to export 16X9, the way it was recorded, although in the preview when checking settings it shows as 16X9. Any ideas? TIA
What Lamont said. You have to change the dimensions to still be a 16:9 ratio. I so 620x360...which is half 1280x720...

Trouble Exporting to 16:9 with Quicktime Movie or Quicktime Conversion
I have created a 5 minute movie using shots taken from my Sony HDR-FX1. The shots were native 16:9. They imported fine into FCEHD. While editing in FCEHD, the clips all displayed in the viewer as 16:9. When I exported to Quicktime Movie, the resulting product was 16:9. When I exported using Quicktime Conversion, my product became 4:3.
Having read other posts here, I looked closely at all clips (which were all checked as Anamorphic), and my Sequence (which was not checked Anamorphic -- but was instead HD1440x1080). I then created a new sequence, which was checked as Anamorphic, copied my clips to it, then exported it. It got worse. Now, it exports 4:3 using both Quicktime Movie and Quicktime Conversion.
I then created a new project, created a new sequence set to Anamorphic, then copied one clip into it from my earlier project and exported it -- same result. I then imported a clip into this new project from the original files from my camera and exported -- same result.
One final note, when looking at the Frame Size in the properties of my sequence and clips, it is set to 720x480. And, when I look at the Get Info on the exported files of the original, I see 1920x1080 (Quicktime Movie export) and 1440x1080 (Quicktime Conversion export) before I created the new sequence; then 720x480 in both after I created the new sequence.
Any help you can provide would be incredibly appreciated!
DanYou are right. My original sequence was marked as HD. When I exported that one to Quicktime Movie, it displayed 16:9.
Then, I created a new sequence that was 720x480 and checked as anamorphic. That one, exported with Quicktime Movie and/or Quicktime Conversion was 720x480 and was squeezed into 4:3 rather than displaying in Quicktime as 16:9.
Last night, I burned this to DVD using iMovie and it displayed properly on my 16:9 television. But, alas, it is squeezed on my 4:3 television (rather than letterboxed).
Also, I exported to Quicktime Conversion and used "custom size" of 720x405 and achieved a movie that will play in Quicktime as near 16:9 so I can put it up on the web in the right dimensions.
Is there a better/easier way to export footage shot 16:9, edited 16:9 so that it automatically exports 16:9 for use in Quicktime and/or on a DVD?
