Exported Quicktiem movie hangs in different sections-

OK- I have (with help-thanks to you guys) now been able to export a full res, self-playing, looping quicktime movie with all transitions and builds intact (although audio sync of soundtrack is slightly off, but this is fixable)-
*+NEW problem:*+
The slide show is all set to automatic, but it keeps unpredictably hanging in the middle of the show and reqruing a space bar press to "catch up" to the current slide- sometimes another space bar press to restart the slide-
audio never stops but always keeps playing-
what the??
this is just an exported 200 MB show with a single video and audio track- no sprite track visible under properties-
sometimes it hangs on the 20th slide, sometimes the 38th- it is completely unpredictable- but I need a file that will play continuously for a show opening in a few days- and now i am getting nervous-
I thought maybe this had something to do with sleep settings (nope)- maybe internal vs. external HD (nope)
I would prefer not to export to iDVD or DVD Studio as this is an HD presentation so I want full res-
any help would be GREATLY appreciated
Scott

yes they all do,thanks for that i will check the other posts to try and resolve it.
still peeved about the lack of effects, the more i think about it the more it makes my blood boil, that said this new imovie is very fast and easy, its such a shame to ruin things by dropping this feature.hopefully apple will take note and provide an update.

  • Best way to set up a movie with many different sections

Hi - i am making a flash demo and have a bunch of different sections / categories that the movie will need to navigate to. I created a similar demo previously and used different "scenes" to keep track and organize the different categories. Should i keep using scenes to navigate to or is there a better, more professional way to do my movie?
Also, where could i find more information on properly organizing and setting up my flash files? ie: naming conventions, etc.
    thanks!
    - Pat

There isn't really a definitive answer as to how one should set up a file, though a frequent recommendation is to avoid the use of scenes if you plan to incorporate navigation between different sections.  While the concept of arranging separate sections as scenes is good, in reality, scenes can be problematic when it comes to implementing navigation into them.
Sometimes the set up choice is best decided based on how much content is involved and how that content is to be accessed (web versus pc presentation).   If there is potential for some heavy file size, it may be better to create different sections as separate swf files and load them dynamically.
If you want to have the whole thing within one file, then you can use the one main timeline, dividing it into sections, using labels to navigate to them, or you could create it all in one frame and use visibility to control what anyone is seeing at any time.  The latter of those two is handy if you have sections that need to retain information/settings in the event returning to them is necessary... if you just make them invisible, then they retain whatever state they were in.
And you can combine the various approaches if there is any utility in doing so.  It really boils down to doing what you reason to be suitable for the job, and sometimes it even boils down to what approach you are most comfortable following... design efficiency is not necessarily always a driving factor is getting results.
As for conventions, you might try searching Google using the terms you think best identify what you are after.  You might be able to find some beginner level tutorials that will go into some detail regarding coding conventions and whatnot.

  • How do I export a movie using a different format (iMovie 2013)

Title question. I can only seem to export my movie using .mp4 and I've seen on youtube using previous versions of iMovie being able to change the format...
I use a Sony DSC-HX20V to capture my footage which formats the videos in AVCHD and it records in an image quality of 50p. I want to also know how to import these videos onto a 4th generation iPod Touch and which format will support the device better. Thank You.

Although I don't use it myself, saving to Theater creates versions for all sorts of devices including iPod Touches.
    iMovie 10 help says:
"When you add a movie, trailer, or clip to the Theater, iMovie creates versions of your movie tailored for local playback (1080p HD), playback on an iOS device (720p HD), and web streaming (480p SD)."

  • Export - QuickTime Move (self contained) - different from project size

I've been chasing a problem of my iMac not being able to play back finished videos, possibly because I don't have enough computer power (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3318100?tstart=0)
While looking at this I just realized something - the completed video is 1920x1080, even though the original source files and FCE project properties are all at 1440x1080.
Is that normal? If not, where should I start looking to find whatever is wrong?

Yes, it is normal.  It's a difference between rectangular pixels and square pixels.

When I click "about this mac" to check on my storage, I get a number of different sections music, movies, etc. but also I get a section called backups, where can I find the files in this section?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
All the storage in "Backups" is taken up by local snapshots, which are made automatically in all MacBooks, MacBooks Pro and MacBooks Air with OS X Lion or newer and Time Machine turned on.
See > http://pondini.org/TM/30.html I recommend you to leave them there, because they will be removed automatically. However, if you want, you can disable or remove them manually if you want, even if there's no reason to do this. Have a look at the link above for more information

  • QuickTime Pro 7.1 hangs when trying to export a movie.

    Hi There,
I just installed the Key for QuickTime Pro on my Win XP laptop. Now, whenever I try to export a movie, QT just hangs there, using 99% of the CPU. The buttons in the dialog box seems to be active (change appearance when I hover them) but clicling any of them (including OK or Cancel) does nothing. The only way out is to kill the QT task.
If I just click OK in the first export dialog, CPU usage jumps to 99% and hangs. If I select "Options" in the export dialog, the "options" dialog itself hangs and the CPU usage jumps to 99%.
I did not try all menu options but it looks like the hang and use 99% CPU is pretty general since I was attempting to do an "Update Existing Software..." From the help menu and QT hang there too. But I can open de preferences, set them and close them without problems though.
Looking in the Application even manager, this is the error reported:
"Hanging application QuickTimePlayer.exe, version 7.1.0.210, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0, hang address 0x00000000."
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
I purchased QT Pro today because I need to convert a sequence of files into a movie. Right now I cannot do that.

Why not try updating your QuickTime software?
    Most current version is 7.4.1

  • Export Reference mov

    ***?
I just attempted to export a reference .mov from my FCP HD 5.0.4 Timeline and the file was 29G+.
I was under the impression that a ref movie would be 50, maybe 60k.
The "Make movie self contained" check box was NOT checked.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks for that "Give-This-A-Try".
    Here's the thing:
It was a 3 camera Canon HDV shoot and I'm editing it using Multi-clip Sequences.
I have it split up into 4 different sections so I have 4 different MC sequences. Each sequence is about an hour and a half to 2 hours long. (It's a seminar on lighting that was given by the ASC and the Digital Cinema Society (.org)).
I'm using a Lacie 500G FW800 drive for capture and render files.
There was issues to begin with because one of the X1L-H1's lost gen lock with the other cams (time of day) so I had to create a time line for that camera and output as a .mov and import that as one of the clips. It works but it was a pain.
Is it possible that the output is being affected by the fact that this is a Multiclip Sequence to begin with?
BTW: I'm not having any issues with cutting in real-time. All is good and I LOVE cutting it this way. It's just that when the time comes, I'm out of disk space for the final output.

  • FCP 7 Export Quicktime Movie Suddenly Stopped working

I use FCP7 on Mavericks 10.9.2. Working in Final Cut with raw ProRes 422 footage and wanting to export my sequence as Export Quicktime Movie. Worked fine until one day it just didn't. Final Cut exports a QT file that QT opens and immediately attempts (and fail) to convert. Then I get a message that QT cannot recognize file type, even though file is a .mov.
I send the file to the VLC media player, and it opens the file but only plays the audio. I have no idea why any of this is happening.
Using "Export Using Quicktime Conversion" I can still get the uncompressed ProRes 422 sequence out of Final Cut, but that's a pain. I want Command-E back. Any ideas?

If you love FCP7, you don't move UP to FPX - you move over to a new set of operational activities, a new vocabulary and a new media management structure. Notice the word "new" as in different, not "updated" as in a faster version of the same system.
If you want a 64 bit version of FCP7, look into Premiere Pro CC.

  • Error exporting long movie in Premiere Elements 4

I just finished editing a movie in Premiere Elements 4.  Every time I try to export the movie, it begins rendering, gets as far as about 15%, and then says "Export Error: Error compiling movie.  Unknown error."  This happens no matter what format I choose.
I've read that this problem can be caused by titles and transitions, of which this movie has both.  But I think the problem is entirely due to the movie's length, which is six minutes and fifty-five seconds.  I say this because if I split the movie into 25-to-50-second chunks, leaving all titles and transitions intact, all the chunks export with no problems whatsoever.
I'm not running any other programs while the movie exports, but that doesn't help.
The source files are MOV (and one PNG), and the resolution is 1920x1080.  I want to export it at the same resolution, otherwise what was the point of shooting in that resolution?  I'm running Windows Vista on a Samsung R522 laptop, if it helps.
For what it's worth, I did manage to successfully export the audio portion of the movie as a WAV file.
What can I do?  My movie is due to premiere at a local arts festival in a few weeks, so I need to sort this out.  I read somewhere that the ideal setup is to have three drives -- one for the source videos, one for running the program, and one to export the file onto.  Will that help?
Many thanks for any suggestions you may have.
    -Grant

Thanks Bill -- and thank you mods for moving the thread.  I couldn't find an Elements forum so I assumed there wasn't one.
Actually, the progress bar in my version does tell you what frame it's on.  When I tried to export it just now, it gave up around frame 2328 of 12447.  Frame 2328 would be 01:17:18... which is the middle of a clip, with no titles, no effects, and no transitions, just ordinary video and sound.  30%, the number you suggested, gives frame 3738, which is 02:04:18, which is a different clip but the same deal.
The exact number varies from attempt to attempt anyway, which is why I think it's a "system memory" problem rather than a problem with a certain moment in the film.  As I said, each part of the film exported fine on its own.
The videos are all MOV format, 1920x1080, ranging in size from 40 MB to 666 MB (maybe the devil is trying to stop me from exporting).  There are 41 of them, giving a total of 11.9 GB.  The single PNG is also 1920x1080 and 6.02 KB.  The movie's audio is actually muted -- the audio that I successfully exported before was just the original audio from the raw clips.
I've got 55.3 GB of free space on my C drive and 580 GB of free space on my external drive; Premiere won't successfully export onto either of them.
Thanks for the link to the KB article, but I'd read it before and it didn't really help.  As it says, "unknown error" really does mean just that.  And it's clear that none of my clips or effects are problematic since they all exported fine when split into chunks.
I really do appreciate your help!  I don't know too much about computers so if I didn't give you the information you were looking for please let me know.
    Thanks so much,
    -Grant

I fixed the problem.. but it was very, very strange. I had a very long section for credits and set the line spacing to 1.0.. for some reason this caused it. I removed it, and it worked fine. I put it back, and I couldn't preview or play the video.
I don't know why that could cause that big of a problem, but it did..

You need more free space on your hard drive.

  • Exporting Quicktime .mov with audio

I searched for a solution to my problem for a while and haven't found any so I felt I'd finally ask.
I am exporting a movie in Premiere Pro 2.0 as a .mov.  Yet everytime I export the audio quality is awful. The audio plays fine within premiere, and the video exports perfectly.  I've tried uncompressed audio, and the result is a loud static sound.  I've tried multiple compressors (oblivious to which I should be using) none of which offered good results (sometimes it was even silent).  What settings should I be using?  (By the way, the audio in the scene is .mp3 and .wav, but I felt using the uncompressed setting would be find since I wouldn't be recompressing the audio)
I'm sure this is a very basic issue that has been addressed multiple times, but I couldn't find a thread or resource on the internet that helped with this issue I'm having. Thank you for any help you can offer, I appreciate it.

I use the same settings, as you, with one exception - instead of 8-bit, choose 16-bit for the Sample Depth.
I also dislike using MP3 as a source. With the exception of tiny SFX files, I always convert these to PCM/WAV (Uncompressed) 48KHz 16-bit, before Import. That does NOT restore all the data lost with the MP3 compression (I hate the sound with MP3, but that's a different topic), but it gives me the best source to edit. I use Adobe Audition, but the free Audacity does a great job of this.
Hope that the 16-bit does the trick for you.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
BTW - what are you using to play the resulting MOV?

  • Why no export FC movie file in HD?

Why is there no Final Cut Movie export in the HD version like there was in 1.5? There seems to be only a QT export?
    Thanks.

    Hi(Bonjour)!
That's because there isn't compression or codec to compute on exporting.
Export to quicktime produce a quicktime movie in the native format of your material (DV). And if you do not check "self contained", the resulting file is just a list of pointers that link your exported movie to original FCE media.
Export with quicktime conversion is different, because you apply a process of conversion with a different codec (like MPEG-4, H.264, sorenson, etc).

  • Can't export entire movie

Whenever I try to export a movie it doesn't export the entire movie, only the first 15 seconds or so. This happens not matter what file format I am trying to export to.. WMV, MOV, AVI etc. When I export the movie on my home computer (PC) it works fine. Could this be a problem with my settings? I've tried many different settings and it still doesn't work.

I paid $29.00 for it. I am starting with a Quicktime file and would like to export it to an AVI file. I am exporting from Quicktime pro not flip4mac (although I do have the full version of flip4mac software). The same thing happens not matter what file format I export too.
I think there is a problem with my Quicktime pro software or I don't have the correct settings when exporting.

  • Difference in quality between digital preview and exported QT movie

I am editing a project shot in HD. I have the easy setup configured correctly according to the footage: AVCHD-Apple Intermediate Codec 1920x1080i60 and the rate is 29.97 fps. When I view the project in playback using FCE4's "Digital Cinema Desktop Preview-Main" is looks great (crisp, clear, etc.). When I export it to a quicktime movie (note: not using conversion), the quality is extremely compromised and some of the fast moving objects are grainy, choppy and blurry and look really bad. Can I do something differently so that the exported movie looks as good as the Digital Cinema Desktop Preview?
Also, I have incorporated several freeze frames in my project. These look a little blurry and aren't as crisp as I like. Is this because the camera wasn't shooting at a fast enough speed? At the same time, related to what I described above, the freeze frame looks MUCH better in playback in the Digital Cinema Desktop Preview than in the exported QT movie.
Thanks in advance for your help.

How are you viewing the movie ? If you are using Quicktime to view it, then this is also what I have experienced. In my case once I convert the footage to some final product everything is fine. I think that our computers (and or QT) are not able to keep up with the demand put on it to play back the HD files.
Your next step would depend on what your final product is going to be, a DVD, upload to the internet or whatever.

  • Why wont Final Cut let me export my movie?

I have been using final cut since it came out, and recently I started editing a 13 minute documentary on the history of my town. When i was finally done putting on the final touches, i tried to export it, and recieved this message:
I've tried to export it several times, but I always get the same message, and always with a DIFFERENT frame number.
I am exporting my movie to H.264 format, the file is 1920 X 1080 at 23.98 fps.
Can somebody help me out please?
