Exported session doesn't sound the same

I've noticed that what I hear through my Yeti USB microphone is much different (and much better) than a session I export 'master' tracks.  Is there another way to export in Audition CS5.5 that I'm unaware of?
Thanks,
Mike

As far as I can tell, and I don't have a Yeti at-hand to verify this at the moment, these microphones offer a direct headphone monitor but aren't playback devices.  I suspect what the other website message was referring to was the audio of this direct monitor sounding "better" because there was no latency and a direct volume control to crank it up nice and loud.
Audition will transparently capture whatever bits are sent from the Yeti through the input channel, so ignoring any volume adjustment or compression that the microphone monitoring MIGHT introduce post-signal, the actual audio streams should be identical.
If you are recording directly into waveform view, the playback should be identical to what was recorded although the playback device on your PC may in some way be "coloring" the output.  I don't necessarily mean changing it, although many device drivers come with all sorts of awful audio effects to "enhance" playback, but if Audition needs to convert sample rates to match your playback device or the speakers or amplifier connected to your playback device introduce their own acoustic characteristics, you may not faithfully hear what you've actually recorded.
If you're recording into a multitrack session and performing a mixdown, it may seem quieter than you expected due to the application of a Pan Law on mixdown.  You can disable this by going into Audition Preferences > Multitrack and changing the Panning Mode pref.
But honestly, it's difficult to give any specific advice as we don't have enough information about how you're recording and how you're comparing the sound from Audition with the sound from your microphone.  Can you fill us in a bit further?
Thanks!

  • Exported song doesn't sound the same

Why is it that when you export a song from GB it doesn't sound as good in my opinion? I deliberately created a song where my meters were in the red much of the song but once I exported it and it normalized it sounded like the master should be boosted up.

Are you exporting to iTunes and do you have Auto Normalize checked in GB Prefs? If so, uncheck and export again.

    Hi Eriksimon,
    Firstly, thanks for your message.
What I meant by "hi pass mid pass shrinking in" is EXACTLY what you menat, I got a heavy bass and muffed high and mid content. Apologised for my poor English.
I haven't checked the setting of the playback device yet but instead I tested it with some professional produced tracks. I know the sound tends to vary a little bit when playing from computer and CD player such as the CDJ 900 that I am using. The differences were not as significant as my own track. They tend to get a rather good balance. My track is well balanced and mixed (I guess) in Logic but it turns out completely different when using the CD player.
I bounced my work to MP3 with highest BIte Rate.

  • File doesn't sound the same when I return to it

I worked hard on a mix of a tune back in December. I have a bounce from that session that I listen to as a reference, but when I open the Logic File, some regions don't play, automation is off and all sorts of things are not the same. It's like the whole file has reverted to some old version with an old mix. The date of the last save matches the date of the bounce, so I cannot figure out why the file doesn't play down the way that I left it, even though I left it months ago.
    Any thoughts?
    Much appreciated...

  • Trying to mixdown 5.1 to stereo doesn't sound the same

I have a 5.1 WAV file that when I load in Audition CC 2014 as an individual file, it sounds perfect through my headphones. The stereo separation is perfect. Now, when I export it to a stereo WAV file, it sounds almost mono, the stereo field is much more reduced. If I do right click in the Files panel and choose "Insert Into Multitrack", it plays back also as bad as exporting the file to stereo, it's not completely mono but the stereo field is very reduced.
I tried playing with the 5.1 pan control, but I can barely tell any difference, even when I widen the stereo field.
How can I export the file to stereo so that it sounds exactly the same as when I play it as an individual file?

I suspect that just Exporting to a stereo file does a rather arbitrary mix of the 5.1 channels. Similarly monitoring the surround file in stereo won't necessarily having the correct mix of channel levels.
So I suggests that you split your multi channel file into separate mono ones using Edit/Extract Channels to Mono Files. Then you can add them to a stereo session in Multitrack view and have better control over how much of and where each channel is mixed to. When satisfied with the results you can mix down your session to a new stereo file which should sound a lot better.

  • [CS5] Using PDF Export Preset from Distiller with InDesign, doesn't work the same?

    Hello,
We are in the process of reworking one of our workflows in which we would manually use Distiller to create a PDF. Now we are trying to automate this with InDesign. My first thought was that I could try using the same PDF Export Preset (.joboptions file) used in Distiller, load it into InDesign, and export my book as a PDF using this preset.
For my current testing example, there are about 115 pages in this PDF document. The PDF that Distiller created is of pretty good quality, and is about 34MB. When I used the same .joboptions file to export an InDesign book of the same original documents as a PDF, the result is equal in quality, but is about 119MB.
Does anyone know why they aren't even close in file size? Is InDesign packing more stuff (maybe related to the actual InDesign documents, or the book itself) into the final PDF? If so, is there anyway to get InDesign to give a similar PDF (in terms of both size and quality) using the .joboptions file from Distiller?
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the reply!
I won't be able to use Acrobat Pro, and my hope is to continue using InDesign/InDesign Server. Since my goal is to match what Distiller produces, is there a way (with InDesign) to export PDFs but to strip out the layers/interactivity/transparency that Distiller does not support? The output PDF will be used for archive purposes only.
    Thanks again for any advice!

  • He Genres on the iPod doesn't reflect the same as that of my iTunes.

he Genres on the iPod doesn't reflect the same as that of my iTunes. It shows unknown as a genre. Issue started when upgraded to the recent os. Tried clearing the tag info and putting them back in but no cigars... fix?

It sounds as though the hold switch on the top of the iPod has been moved to the "hold" position (which will display the small lock icon). Sliding it to the left should unlock your iPod.
The hold switch is meant to disable all functions so accidentally pressing one of the controls will not do anything (prevents accidentally turning on the iPod, for instance).

  • Exporting two remote objects on the same port

It should work in any version of Java as long as the server socket factories are null or equal according to Object.equals() or its override in the SSF.equals() method if any. Which needs to be present and needs to take the form:
    public boolean equals(Object object)
      return object != null && object.getClass() == this.getClass();
}with further tests if the server socket factories have additional state.

  • Preview doesn't act the same as it did in Snow Leopard. So now how do I...?

    Hi all,
I'm getting frustrated because Preview doesn't act the same way now as it used to, and I can't find the solution in the Help menu.
Here's what I used to be able to do:
    1) I'm a composer/arranger for musical theater productions. So, as I compose or arrange individual songs, I eventually save them all as PDFs.
    2) To create a master piano/conductor's score, I used to create a master PDF file, then open up each individual song's PDF, and drag the pages into the master PDF file. Immediately after doing so, I was able to view the new pages in two-page mode, in the context of the whole book, to make sure the page turns were the way I planned them (since I often lay the music out with quick page turns in mind for the pianist/conductor). If for some reason the pages were opposite from what I planned, I just inserted a blank page before the newly-added song, to make the page turns work the way I needed them to.
    3) When I was done importing all the songs, I'd print out the whole score.
    My current problem
What I used to do (i.e., open up two documents, and drag the pages of one into the other) no longer works the way it used to. Now, Preview seems to view them as multiple separate documents, even though they're under the roof, so to speak, of one document. Let's say I drag 3 documents into the PDF I want to use as the master PDF. Let's say that each document is only a single page. I can't view them in two-page mode. I can select Two-Page mode in the menu, but it won't alter the view. Now, if document #1 is one page, and document #2 is five pages, I can view document #2 in two-page mode, but not document #1 and #2, together. (i.e., ideally, I'd want to see the one-page document #1 on the left-side in two-page mode, and the first page of document #2 on the right side.
Also, saving is a problem. It used to be that when I dragged the new pages into the document, I could just hit "save" and the new pages would be immediately included in the master PDF file. Now, Preview treats everything as separate documents, so I'll import document #5, let's say, hit "save" and it'll want to save the changes to "document #5."
The only workaround I've found for all this is to select all the pages in the master PDF and hit print, followed by saving as a new PDF.
But, do I have to do this on every addition?!? I have 40 songs, a Title Page and a Table of Contents that need to be imported into one PDF document. And they're not all ready to go right now. I was going to add a couple songs each day as I get them finalized and ready for print.
Isn't there a way to just add the new pages to the new document without Preview treating them as a collection of separate documents?
    Thanks for your help.
    Kevin

Thanks Barney! It is, indeed, working for me now. It's different than the previous incarnation of Preview, with no explanation of the differences in the Help menu (that I could find, that is).
    So, thanks for your help!

  • Tryoing to play QVR. Works on a MAC with version 7. Doesn't work the same using Version 10.

Have some .mov files that work just find on my MAC that has QVR player version 7. When I try these same files on a MAC that was recently updated automatically and has QVR version 10, the .mov doesn't work the same way.  Is there a way to set parameters in version 120 to behave like version 7 or alternatively can I download version 7?

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923
Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link  even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)
A Mac OS X v10.6, OS X Lion, and OS X Mountain Lion-compatible version of QuickTime Player 7 is available for use with older media or with AppleScript-based workflows. QuickTime Player 7 can be used to playback formats such as QTVR, interactive QuickTime Movies, and MIDI files. Also, it supports QuickTime 7 Pro registration codes for access to QuickTime Pro functionality.

I have been having a issue with getting the colors on my monitor to match the colors fro my print lab. I now have the monitor calibrated to match the prints but when I open elements it doesn't use the same colors. If i have it use the calibrated profile by changing the color management settings, the color picker no longer shows true white or black. Ok so I've done what you said and this is what it's come back ....
I don't know that these are the errors , but they're the things which don't look right ...
    Throughout the shut down there is a recurring line ;
    It says ;
    Com.apple.launchd 1 0x100600e70.anonymous.unmount 301 PID still valid
    Then there are 2 more which I think are related ;
Com.apple.securityd 29 PID job has I overstayed its welcome , forcing removal.
Then the same with fseventd 48 and diskarbitrationd 13
Oh and on Launchd1 : System : stray anonymous job at shut down : PID 301 PPID13 PGID 13 unmount...
Then the last process says "about to call: reboot (RB_AUTOBOOT).
    Continuing...
    And stops ...
Hope this means something to you ... Thanks again for your help so far :-)

After a copy we have 2 systems with same data.
In a program the same selection doesn't returns the same result, it seems that the sort is different.
I have checked indexes but they are ok in both systems.
    Here is the selection:

    FROM but000
    JOIN but020
      ON but020partner = but000partner

    JOIN but100
      ON but100partner = but000partner
      WHERE but020~addr_valid_from LE '20100727000000'
      AND   but020~addr_valid_to   GE '20100727000000'.
Is there a customizing point to define how the database must be sorted ?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thank you for your answer.
Result is the same and I don't sort data after the selection.
Do you think the system copy has "broke" the records order in database ?
If it is the case it will be impossible to reproduce the same sort, is it right ?
