Exported versions include GPS data?

i spent quite a bit of time troubleshooting an issue before i learned that aperture does not include gps data when exporting versions.
is that really true?  if so, i'm fairly flabbergasted.  how can a pro product like this not perform such a basic function?
i've read a few threads here and there about ordering of geotagging and importing and such, but none that provide any real type of workaround.  my images definitely do contain gps data.
all i want to do is have an exported version contain the image's gps data.
either i'm not understanding something basic about aperture, or the product falls far short in that area.
(aperture 3.1.2 on 10.6.7)

ok, well posting wasn't a complete waste, as in doing so a related post appeared on the right and that answered my question.
so i wasn't understanding something basic ... there is a preference to include location information when exporting.  see Preferences > Export

  • How to export ALL my GPS data with photos?

    Hi,
I hope you can help me save a lot of time.
For various reasons I have abandoned Aperture 3 in favour of Lightroom 5, and as part of the process (severl months ago) I exported all my 30,000 photos out of my aperture library along with sidecar files so that I would be able to keep my metadata. All but a few gopro phots are geotagged, however I have now discovered that for 14,000 of these images no GPS data was included in the sidecar file.
As far as I have been able to research I have two options. First to re-build the library by re-exporting the files, merge this with my current Lightroom library and hope I don't get any duplicates. Or, secondly, re-tag the 14,000 photos manually or from the GPX files I still have hanging around.
What I really would like to know is if there is a 3rd option?
What would be nice is a way to export only the GPS data and time stamps for all 30,000 and then use that as a track in Lightroom...is that possible?
    Thanks for any help

I'm not aware of a way to do that from Aperture but it should be possible to script that ability.
Just run through all the images and have the script output the EXIF data you want. Not to difficult if you have any  Applescript experience. If not I'm afraid you will need to resort to your other options.
    regards

  • Export Version with Master date/hour file

    Hi,
I did some modifications on some RAW files and i'd like to export them as JPG because it takes less space...but when i export it, it doesn't keep the RAW medatada, i mean, i'd like to keep the original date of when the picture was taken...is it possible ??
    Thanks for your help !

If you're looking at the date in Finder, Finder reports the date of the file not the imge in the file. To get the image capture date you need to look at the EXIF data.

  • GPS data does not show up in mobileme gallery or exif info of exported pics

    Hello,
I used places to geotag some of my pictures.
That went nicely, and I now have Latitude and Longitude Metadata entries
in the exif part of the metadata displayed by Aperture.
    However, when I export these pictures to JPG, this information is gone;
the metadata of the exported pic does not contain latitude/longitude information.
Likewise, when publishing these pics to mobileme, no gps information is found in the
    "information" part.
How do I write the gps data to the picture such that exports contain it and mobileme will display it?
    (Aperture 3.03)

Similar to bjrnfrdnnd2, I have the 'Include location info in exported photos' button selected all the time in the Export Preferences. Unlike him however, the GPS information developed using Places (lat & long) does not get exported when I export photos. It is not present when I reimport the photo back into Aperture, nor does it show up in Preview when I examine the file using Inspector in the Tools menu (I export the Master File).
Interestingly, if I export a photo from iPhoto with the include location info box checked, the GPS info does import into Aperture without problem AND, most strangely, will also export with the GPS information regardless of whether the 'Include location info in exported photos' is selected in the preferences or not. The same thing happens if I import a geotagged photo from my iPhone into Aperture; that is, the GPS information gets exported regardless of what the Preference setting is.
Exactly the same thing happens on my MacBook.
I've checked my disk for problems using DiskUtility, repaired the Aperture Library, tried using a new library and also deleted the Aperture preferences file and created a new one. All to not avail.
All I can conclude is that depending on how the GPS data are input into Aperture (as part of a photo that is imported or as determined within Aperture using Places) the information is stored differently and so is attached (or not) differently to exported photos.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or does anyone know what might be wrong here?
    Thanks

  • Loosing GPS Data after exporting from Lightroom 5

    Hello,
When I export my pics from lightroom 5 to import to iphoto,
I loose the GPS data after the import into iphoto.
I like Iphoto because of the icloud, so I don't want to move everything
    to LR5.
Is there anyway to save the GPS data or am I doing something wrong?
I am using the latest version of Iphoto.
    Thanks!

Not really sure? I exported the pics after editing, but did not mess with the meta data or anything.
Am I suppossed to do something to export the data, and then import into Iphoto?
    Thanks!

  • LR4: Export to Flickr removes GPS data

I've just uploaded a picture to my Flickr photostream from within Lightroom 4 release version (Win 7 64 bit). I geotagged the picture in Lightroom's new Maps module and the image shows GPS co-ordinates in the Metadata panel in the Library module.
The photo on flickr has no GPS data and does not appear on the map in Flickr. I've downloaded the original version of the picture from Flickr and opened in the GeoSetter tool, which confirms that no GPS data is embedded in the JPEG file.
In Lightroom 4's "Publish Services" section Flickr does not have the "Remove Location Info" setting ticked under metadata.
Does anyone have any ideas of anything I can try?
    Many thanks
    Tom
EDIT: I've just tried to export a picture using the normal export button in the Library module. In this dialog box "Remove Location Info" was ticked. I unticked it and exported and can confirm that GPS data is successfully stored in this image. It just doesn't seem to get to Flickr using the built-in publishing service for some reason.

Update.  I went to manually add GPS data in Flickr and realized LR4 did upload the data correctly, but until I clicked on the map in Flickr it didn't seem to "activate".  I had to do it for each image.  Very odd integration.
This seems to be the best I can do, too.
    To be clear:
When publishing from LR4 to Flickr, the GPS data appears to get stripped.  When I view the picture in my photostream, the map on the right looks blank.  If I open the photo in the Flickr "Organize & Create" area, the Latitude and Longitude dialogue boxes are empty.  HOWEVER, if I go back and view the photo in my photostream, then click on the map to add a location, the enlarged map shows the photo in the correct spot.  If I click Save Location from here, the Latitidue and Longitude are saved correctly and all is well.
I get exactly the same behavior if I export from LR4 to my hard drive and then upload from my hard drive to Flickr.

  • How to export project(s) with GPS data

I tried to export a project with GPS metadata but when I import that project (as a library) into my Aperture on my iMac, no GPS data...
    Am I missing something obvious??
    Adam

    Hello Adam,
First of all - shift-L does NOT bring up the lift and stamp HUD on my Aperture 3...in fact, on the menu, it has no keyboard shortcut.
That is surprising for me, perhaps in my list of questions I should also have asked for your OS and exact Aperture Version. I tried this with OS Lion 10.7.2 and Aperture 3.2.1.
But you found how to bring forward the Lift&Stamp HUD, so that is not so important right now.
It is really good to know that you see GPS data on your images. Those you should be able to export.
I apply your smart album and it's rules, that image shows up...so if I see latitude/longitude data in the metadata tab, why does your smart album pull it out??
Probably your GPS tags contain Latitude/Longitude allright, but not the GPS version.
Remove the rule '"GPS Version" is empty' from the smart album, then you will see only those images that don't even have Latitude or Longitude. Hopefully that are not too many.
I guess from my perspective, if I either assign a "place" for my pictures or import GPS info from my Garmin, shouldn't that put the right metadata in so that it could be exported properly?? If not, when I move these images to my iMac I will have to redo ALL my places...which doesn't make sense...
Sorry if I'm not getting it...
sorry, if I am not explaining properly...
I have done some experiments right now with my current Aperture version 3.2.1 and surprise, surprise! Seems I have to eat my words.
In this version 3.2.1 assigning a place to an image seems also to set the GPS EXIF data, not only the places name as IPICT. What a relieve!  I used to have to assign Places data over over again, because the places information would not be recognized by my other applications. So my advice to you is to upgrade to 3.2.1 if you have not done so.
I suspect the GPS data you see without "GPS Version"-tags are those you created manually in Places, wheras any other GPS data with GPS Version Tag come from your imported Garmin tracks.
I have to make further experiments with this new behaviour before I can feel confident to give advice, and I could use a helping hand here. Anyone?
@Kirby Krieger: I see you have been looking in on this thread, could you please confirm if this new places behaviour is also true in SL, if you have time?
Sofar I tested the following with several folders and it worked beautifully: Try it.
Export the folder from Aperture as a Library:   File -> Export -> Project as a library
Reimport it to Aperture on your other machine: File -> Import -> Library/Project

  • Access 2010 InfoPath Data Collection Export Fails Due to Date Format That Includes Time Zone

I created an Access 2010 database that has multiple data collection (InfoPath) forms that were generated from Access and have been in use for about 1.5 years.  Starting in 2013 (for about a week now), the submitted data fails to Export due
to a "data type conversion error" with the date fields.  Prior to 2013, the date string returned in the InfoPath form looked like this: "2013-01-07T00:00:00", but now it looks like this: "2013-01-07T00:00:00-05:00".  The time zone is appended
to the string and it kills the Outlook Export feature.
To test this, I created a new database with one table and one date time field.  I generated an InfoPath template and emailed it to myself.  I entered the date into the template and submitted it (tried manually entering the date as well as
using the date time picker control - made no difference).  The InfoPath template now contains "2013-01-07T00:00:00-05:00" and will not Export from Outlook to Access.  I tried manually pasting the string into the Access table and it would take it,
but would show "1/7/2013 5:00:00 AM" in the date time field (which isn't correct either but at least it took).  Note: This problem has appeared at my office (Win 7 with Office 2010), but my testing was done on my personal laptop using Win 8 with Office
    2010.
It looks like Microsoft has created a bug and now all of my data collection forms are unusable.  Any help will be appreciated.

Microsoft confirmed that the issue was introduced with MS12-066 as follows:
    ***Start Quote
We have been able to identify that this issue was introduced with the change made for the hotfix detailed in KB 2687395. This update was included in the security update MS12-066 when you installed KB 2687417.
    2687395          Description of the InfoPath 2010 hotfix package (ipeditor-x-none.msp): August 28, 2012

Investigating workarounds I've only come up with using HTML forms or changing the datatype of the control to text.
    ***End Quote
My own testing also indicates that if you are using InfoPath with SQL Server, you may be able to change the Date/Time picker control in InfoPath to a Date only picker control (if the SQL Server data
    type will support that).

  • How do I edit and then export so as to retain my GPS data?

Im shooting Nikon D5100 and D3200 Cameras with Nikon GP1 GPS receivers. Im shooting jpg FINE and LARGE. I can import, batch and/or individual edit, rename, number ect. and then able export but after I export my images my GPS data is gone. Im running an iMac with the latest OS and LR 5.2 64bit
I do not do anything else with LR except as follows:
I import directly from a desk top file folder and export to a new seperate file folder within the original folder. I DO NOT keep any images "in" light room at all and do not "auto import" or anything else. I remove all pics from LR after I have exported them then import the next batch of pics. I have my own filing and storage system of doing things do dont need those functions.
Im just using LR to straighten & crop and do basis exposure, contrast, and sharpening my pics thats it. I have a few presets for batching which is great. Im running hundreds of pics at time with no issues and Im also able to tweak large tiff files. All very simple editing and LR paid for itself after my very first use.
I am re-naming and numbering my pics and then exporting them. Nothing fancy here. As mentioned I remove the imported pics from LR when Im done editing and exporting them and then import the next batch. Its great. All very simple editing and re-naming.
I need to be able to do all of this editing and keep the GPS data that was recorded on the pics on the camera with the GP1. Any help with an answer on how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
    JTP1

I scrolled down to Metadata in Export and "Copyright Only" was selected and the "remove locaction info" box was ticked. I will run a test set of images with "All Metadata" selected and "remove Location Info" un-checked too see if it will work. Thank you very much!

  • Why can't I update my Garmin GPS data with version 5?

I'm trying to update my Garmin GPS data and Firefox 5 isn't compatible!!!! This is very upsetting. I DO NOT like version 5. I can't get the Lexmark toolbar, either. I wrote to Firefox about wanting to switch back to version 4, along with a lot of other people. I want to download version 4 and update my GPS!!!!!!!

Try using this extension to force compatibility.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/
Check and tell if its working.
IF the problem persists install earlier versions from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

  • LR5 Not exporting GPS Data from CR2 to Jpeg

    Hi
I have CR2 file from a 1Dx imported into LR5 and I am having issues exporting the GPS data to a Jpeg from the  CR2 file.  I have unchecked remove location info in the export dialogue box
Has anyone else got this problem?
Or am I doing something wrong!!
    Thanks
    Ian

I've quickly tried exporting an animated Camera from AE here and the keyframes are coming through to the Cinema camera.  The original AE keyframe curves will not be preserved,  but the transform results will be "baked" on every frame of the exported Cinema camera.  This is current limitation and expected.  Is this what you are seeing?
The CineWare camera Merge button assumes there is a current selected AE camera used by CineWare.  If CineWare is currently set to use a Cinema camera, then the button is greyed out.   If you go to CineWare "Project Settings" and choose one of the Comp camera options (instead of a C4D camera), then the Merge button will be available.
    Hope that helps,
    Seth

  • Including EXIF data on photos as an overlay on export ?

Hi.  Can someone please help?  I need to know how to imbed the EXIF data on a JPG export to show the data natively on top of the photo when the JPG is opened (top left for example).  It's nice to share photos with people that dont have Lightroom/post processing software, that can learn from the settings I used to get the shot.  It will be nice if they can open the JPG on their end and see the apeture, focal length etc on the photo?  Can someone point me in the right direction?  I did read something about creating a slideshow, but I'm not there yet nor do I want to do that.  I just wanted to know if it's possible to do this with a basic export.  Just like the Develop Module shows EXIF data on top of the photo when you press "I".  I just want that same EXIF data to always be on the photo when I open the JPG in other viewing programs.  Thanks in advance!

Go to the Print Module, and choose (or create) a layout that suits you. Select to print to JPEG file:
Then check "Photo Info" in the Page section in the right panel and choose a font size:
Choose "Edit" from the dropdown under Photo Info:
The Text Template Editor will be shown, where you can compose what you'd like to see as Photo Info:
Select "Save Current Settings as New Preset ..." from the "Preset:" dropdown and give the preset a name.
The Print to JPEG will then use the tokens you entered in the Text Template.
Click "Print to File" to generate the JPEG.

  • Exporting version with metadata

    Hi there,
this is probably an easy question. If I have a file (RAW or JPG), make some changes on it using aperture, including changes in the metadata such as adding tags and possibly GPS data, then how do I export the edited version so that the metadata of the export reflects the changes I have made within aperture?
Currently I command click on the photo and ask to "export version". I select the "JPG - original size" option, which, upon inspection, has the box "include metadata" ticked. But the exported file only has the metadata that came from the camera. Keywords are always gone and GPS data is often (?) gone.
Can anybody help me with this?
    Thanks a lot,

Apologies. Just found an earlier thread which deals with this bug in aperture:
