Exporting 16:9 Project to 4:3 Adobe Flash Video

Hello,
I have a 16:9 Video Project.
I'd like to export some of my sequences via the Adobe Media Encoder to Adobe Flash Video - 4:3 format.
I've tried using a Widescreen Flash Preset and then cropping the footage - however the footage must be getting distorted because the video gets a lot of lines in it when there's even a minimum amount of motion - with bitrate set to 500.
Any suggestions on how to export 16:9 project o 4:3 flash video without distorting the video? What if I want to export to 240 x 180 as opposed to 320 x 240? I'm not sure how the math really works for 16:9 to 4:3 to square pixel conversions.

Well, Chaunce, there you have it: Two differing viewpoints. Most of the output I do is for 4:3 square-pixel reduced size computer playback. Suffice it to say I have not been entirely satisfied with Premiere's handling of such a seemingly simple task.
Deinterlacing is an inherently lossy process. Even the best deinterlacers can't do it perfectly. So, I certainly cannot say that this is "lossless". Granted, scaling to such a small size as 240x180 will likely hide some of the adverse effects of poor deinterlacing.
I am also not particularly pleased with the way Premiere scales video. Large ratio scaling (like 720x480 -> 240x180) looks way too soft for my taste. Sadly Adobe does not implement better scaling algorithims (such as Lanczos) for resizing. It can really help preserve detail when downscaling video and images.
Premiere (and all the Adobe products) use approximated pixel aspect ratios. You may find that these produce slight stretching or squeezing of your footage when converted. It may not be problematic, but it is not "correct", strictly speaking.
For these reasons, I use Premiere strictly for editing and I have found alternative tools for preparing content for PC playback. I am hoping that Adobe will continue to make improvements in these areas.

  • Bass-sound disappear when exporting to Adobe Flash Video format

I'm making a guitar-tutorial on video, and want to export parts of it to Adobe Flash video by using Adobe Media Encoder. But when I do that, it sounds like the bass-sound of the band disappear. The sound generally becomes low also. Maybe there is a connection. Anyway, with the sound I have now, I can't use the video in flash format :-(
I've tried bitrates of both 128 and 256 kbps, which should be more than plenty.
    Help would be appreciated.

Does "Data Rate" = "Bit Rate"
    Yes
I selected DVD/CDROM in the "Data Rate" category...?
Umm....I assume you're exporting from FCP using QuickTime conversion,
so you can choose a QuickTime movie, H.264, and choose
    Frame Rate: Current
    Key Frames: Automatic
    Frame Reordering: Checked
    Quality: Best
    Encoding: Best
Data Rate: Automatic ... which then means you don't need to choose DVD/CDROM.
Give that a try and see how it looks.

  • AE CS3: Crashes on export to Adobe Flash Video (with audio)

I have a 10 second comp I'm rendering to Adobe Flash Video. The comp has a wav file on it.
I have ram previewed the comp and it plays back just fine.
When I render it to Adobe Flash Video via the render queue my comp crashes at 30 frames in everytime.
However if I remove the wave file from my comp, AE will fully render the comp to an FLV file.
I have also tried replacing the wav file with another random wav file - I get the same crash everytime at 30 frames in.
I also made a comp from scratch and tried to render it to Adobe Flash Video with a wav clip and it crashes 30 frames in every time.
Please note when it hits frame 30 on the render, a window pops up ( a dos type window ) and then the window closes along with AE right away leaving me with no error messages or even an error log. I was able to get a screen cap of the error and it's attached.
I am running Windows Vista 64-bit and this is the first problem I've had with AE CS3.
Is this a known issue and is there a workaround for this?

  • AE CS3 - Adobe Flash Video - Format Options causes crash

Like the titles states. I see so many people say Adobe Flash Video is the way to go for export options yet AE always crashes on me when I choose it's - Format Options (from output module in the render queue).
I use Flash all the time and it works fine but since I cannot access AE's FLV format options. Each time I press it AE just locks up.
Is this one of things Adobe just never fixed in CS3? I don't care to read comments saying to use something else to render it. That isn't what I'm asking so save it. I created a simple object in AE and just want to see how it looks with FLV export. AVI looks fine but seems like everyone says it would look better as FLV. Since I cannot access the format options for FLV it is the worst option and very blurry so that leads me to believe it was one of those things Adobe just abonded in CS3.
I searched and found nothing. I would continue my search but Adobe's choice for forum format couldn't be any slower. If Adobe can answer this question maybe I can shed some light on saving it's members some agony and teach them some PHP. This is rediculously slow and my worst forum puts this to shame.

Thanks Todd, that's what I figured. I remember when Adobe bought it  from Macromedia so figured it was just something I couldn't do with this  older version. I just figured I see what all the noise was and thought maybe it might have been an update for a plugin or something stupid. I normally use Xvid and either output in MP4 or AVI any. I'm not a video guy so rarely use AE. Just been experimenting and it's still a little foreign to me.
Appreciate the answer and your time!

As for the forum, I have several times left "forum feedback" but hmmm, let's see. None of you, not even Adobe employees can say they aren't tired of how slow it is here. If I google something, I'm sure to see what links are from where and will always skip ones that start with "forums.adobe" unless I have expelled all other options which is rare. This isn't about you not thinking that's true, it's about what's on your nose and comparing my post count to your own, haha. Yes, I should have relaxed before my post and that comment but even back paging takes 30 seconds. Let me guess, you're going to say it's my bandwidth I suppose? I can upload 50mb a min, and on the right site download several hundred,,, not the issue, Take care now.

  • Adobe flash video problem

For the last couple of weeks i have run into a problem with both U-Tube videaos and yahoo vodeos.
In the middle of the videao a pop-up comes  on from either of two entities  s.ytimg   and d.yimg.
There is a lot of dialogue about this (per google search) but I still don't know if it a virus/malware, or an intrusive adverising site.
Adobe has very vague info on this (they disclaim having anything to do with it) but to me it is unreasonable for U-tube (google) or yahoo to actuallyendorse this .
I never click allow, but the thing is insistant and does not go away.
    Any help?

Thanks for the added information, but that doesn't alter the fact that Firefox is seriously crippled -- that is to say, useless -- as a medium for web video.
I don't know whether the assertion that Flash 11.3 is "buggy" and it is Adobe's fault is more true, than to say that Firefox 20+ is "buggy" with regard to Flash 11.3.
It seems both developer teams are pointing in the other direction to claim "It's their fault, not ours" and using that as an excuse not to fix the problem.
Since it is unlikely that the complaints of Firefox users is going to move Adobe to "fix" Flash, it seems to me much clearer that it is the obligation of Mozilla to fix Firefox so that it works with Flash.
Again, this problem has gone on for sufficient years, anyone would conclude that Mozilla should have fixed it by now.
What is even more annoying, is the way that Mozilla representatives who should know better, send people who report this problem and quite reasonably ask for a solution, off on 15 dozen different kinds of fools' errands for "solutions" that don't address the problem that anyone with any experience realizes is a basic conflict between Flash 11 and any FF version much beyond 18 or so.
There needs to be a consolidation of all the many different threads addressing this problem with a top-level advisory that all the proffered sub-fixes (blaming this or that setting or plug-in) is really NOT going to solve the fundamental Flash-Firefox video incompatibility.
We FF users are left with the unacceptable choice of abandoning access to Flash videos if we want to continue using FF for all its other capabilities and special features -- or we have to constantly be uninstalling Flash 11, installing Flash 10, watch our videos, then uninstall Flash 10 and reinstall Flash 11 to do anything else.
    This is ridiculous.
When is Mozilla going to acknowledge and fix this problem?

  • Adobe flash videos now only show up/play once fully loaded.

All online flash related videos used to start playing once I hit play. They would continue to load as they played. This changed a month or so ago. Now after I hit play I just get the blank screen UNTIL the video fully loads. Then it plays. I thought for a while my flash was broke even after uninstalling/installing ect until I left it on a video I tried to play one day. I then realized it had been working, but not showing the video until fully loaded. I am running the newest firefox and adobe flash. Doesnt matter what browser I use. Trid most of the quick fixes online. Any simple setting to change it back to play the video from the get go? Any help would be great! I am running version 11,5,502,146 for flash player on Windows 7 64-bit. Any updates?

Please check out the video troubleshooting guide.  Disabling hardware acceleration might resolve this for you.

Sometimes video and audio problems are caused at a lower level and not directly related to Flash Player.  I recommend trying both of the links below to see how they perform.  If the problem exists with both, then Flash Player is most likely not the culprit as the HTML5 video link does not use Flash Player when playing.  You can verify this by right clicking the HTML5 video and looking for the words "About HTML5" at the bottom of the menu.

  • Adobe Flash Videos won't play unless I close and restart Firefox

I'm using the most current versions of Firefox for Windows and the Adobe Flash plug-in. Recently I've discovered that for some reason, embedded videos in blogs, etc. and YouTube videos will not play-- I either get a blank white space where the screen should be, or a black screen with no "play" option. The only way to remedy this is to close and restart Firefox. This happens every day--it's not a random occurrence.

I've tried every possible solution for this problem -- cleared cache, reinstalled Windows, updated Firefox and Flash, even installed the beta 64-bit version of Flash -- NOTHING helps. Since no one seems to have any ideas about this problem, I'm throwing in the towel on Firefox. The problem has never occurred in IE.

  • Trying to find a way to download adobe flash videos

our company hired a marketing consultant to lead us through some coaching sessions and she recorded the webinars as screencasts and posted the videos to a special webpage for us, but unfortunately the videos are in adobe flash format. That means I've yet to find a way to download them to my laptop to be able to save for reference. I’m concerned that some day the page she created for us will go away and we’ll lose this content.
Is there some way to download these videos? They are all on the same page and obviously not set to auto play. I appreciate any advice, thanks.

    thanks guys.
Barney, I already tried googling and struck out, but your suggestion about using the activity window in Safari worked like a champ! I got everything downloaded (over a gig worth of files) and they play fine on Quicktime or Movist so I'm good.
Malcolm, I appreciate that suggestion and would’ve gone that route had this other approach not worked. But I was hesitant because the last thing I need is more login items, and second, I've had bad experiences with RealPlayer in the past (primarily years back when I was on Windows) with it really being an unstable app that like to work its tentacles into your system and made cleanly deleting it very difficult. So ever since I'm somewhat biased against that app and company.
Thanks again to the both of you, much appreciated.

  • Adobe flash & videos on xfinity

Does anyone know if something other than adobe flash can be used to view xfinity videos? I have removed adobe flash from my computer as I am sure many others have.

    a) First, verify that Flash Player is installed and working on your system.
Check the Flash Player Version Detection page, here (the link is case-sensitive):  http://adobe.ly/wRILS
    b) If you see the box with version information, you have successfully installed Flash Player and will be able to view Flash content via the Android browser.
    c) If you see a “Get Flash Player” icon instead of the version information, confirm that both Browser Plug-Ins and JavaScript are enabled on your device:
           Open the Browser
           Hit the Menu Button
Confirm that Enable Javascript is checked
Choose Settings > Enable Plug-Ins and make sure that it's set to Always On
If the settings above did not match, this probably fixed the problem.
Please visit the Flash Player Version Detection Page (http://adobe.ly/wRILS ) again.
If you see the version information now, you're done!  Congratulations.
    d) If not, it sounds like the installation did not work correctly.
First uninstall Flash Player by doing the following:
Go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Adobe Flash Player
Hit Uninstall (or Uninstall Updates) and follow the prompts
Restart your phone.  This will make sure that anything that might be keeping the Flash Player binary locked is no longer running.
Once the phone comes back up, open the Market and search for "Flash Player".  Follow the installation prompts.
Please repeat the steps to confirm that JavaScript and Plug-Ins are enabled, and then check the version detection page.

  • Most Adobe Flash videos stop working soon after startup?

Most sites videos dont work except for youtube and some others. I have tried many things and just recently i tried resetting my host file to default.  After I ran the 'fix it' program from the website below and restarted my computer all flash player videos worked!  but after about 2 minutes they would stop working if I opened a new video or reloaded the page. It does the same thing for all browsers.  I have restarted my computer several times to make sure.  It could have nothing to do with resetting my host file because i have never tried to play a video within the first 2 minutes of startup before.  I have windows 7.

if that all works ok, open your project fla.  save it with a different name.  close flash, reopen the renamed project fla and attempt to test it.  any problem?

  • Green screen Adobe Flash Videos, Windows 8.1, I have tried everything

It's a very annoying problem and i have read many forums to solve it but nothing.
    I tried:
    Disable Hardware acceleration
I disabled plug-ins because you have 2 flash plugins on chrome and they would conflict
I updated Adobe, Graphic drivers and Java.
I have tried other browser same problem

It's most likely a driver bug.  Win8.1 is fairly new, and it will take some time for the drivers to fully mature.  It would be helpful to know whether you're seeing these issues only in Chrome, or do you see the same problems in IE and Firefox?
Also, just to confirm, when you disabled Hardware Acceleration, did you do so by right-clicking Flash content, going to Settings, and unchecking Use Hardware Acceleration from the left-most tab, or did you do it by going to the Chrome menu bar > Settings > Advanced > System > Use Hardware Acceleration when available?
The following additional information would help us reproduce the issue and either fix it or escalate it to Nvidia:
1.) The output of the DirectX Diagnostic Tool.  Launch a command prompt and type 'dxdiag'.  Just choose save all information and paste the output, or a link to pastebin, etc.
2.) A direct link to a couple videos that demonstrate the problem.
    Thanks!
