Exporting 22 minute HD project. Pointers Appreciated.

Hey Forum people!
I am exporting a larger project from Final Cut Pro 7 and I am wondering if anyone out there has any pointers. I have figured out two options and they result in two different results. When I export using "Quicktime Movie..." my file is gigantic. Like 25gb gigantic. When I export using using "using Quicktime Conversion..." it's a lot smaller in size but quality is lost. It's not terrible but I notice a bit of pixelation. There will be multiple purposes for the file but right now I just want to be able to get it under 4gb without it loosing any quality.  I have searched for this on the web but nothing is coming up - only things for compressing for youtube and DVD's pop up and I'm looking to keep it HD.
Thanks so much!

From FCP, the typical method would be to export using QuickTime Movie (not QuickTime Conversion), then use the resulting file in Compressor or other app.   The 'QuickTime Movie' will provide the same quality as your FCP Sequence.  After that, most people would use Compressor, Episode, Squeeze or other compression/conversion app to create a file that suits the purpose of its intended method of delivery since some delivery methods are restricted to specific codecs and bit rates..   For example, for DVD delivery, I'd use one of the DVD presets in Compressor, customized to my needs.  For server-based playback, I'd use a multiplexed MPEG-2 Program file setting, for web delivery, an H-264 setting, etc, etc.  So determine wha the medium will be and then you can properly choose which format/codec you should use.
Keep in mind that ANY form of compression will result in a loss of quality - that's just the nature of compression; some data has to be thrown away in order to make the file size smaller.  Some codecs do this fairly efficiently while other, older codecs may show more quality loss.

  • Export actions in merchandizing project in bcc 10.1

    Hi,
I was using the export action in a merchandizing project to dowload an xls of my media-internal assets.
It says successfully exported but not say where it has been saved. How to check where my assets have been exported???
Any pointers would be really helpfull.

It will show your browser's file open/save dialog for the generated Excel file and depending on your browser settings file may also get downloaded automatically. Make sure you don't hit ESC to close the success message notification that appears on screen as it can accidentally close the file open/save dialog as well.

  • 9 Minute HD Project Compression Goes Bad

I have a 9 minute HD project that I shot on the Panasonic HVX-200. I hurriedly burned the project once, and it looked great. Good compression and the footage looked nice.
But I noticed a few edits I wanted to change when I watched it. So I went back and changed it and re-exported it, and this time when I burned it, the compression was really bad. There are lines going through all the footage, like broadcast lines almost or slight pixelation.
Does anyone know why this is happening? The file is less than 3gb and the DVD is 4.7gb so the compression shouldn't be that noticeable.

I tried best performance and the lines are still showing up, the exact same amount as before.
I've tried everything I can imagine and I really don't know what to do. I have a festival deadline on Friday and really need to get this thing done.

  • I can't export or share my project.

Okay, I am a beginner and trying my best. But right now my best is definately not good enough.
I am using the 30-day trial of Final Cut Pro X with the latest updates. It's only limitation is the 30-day trial so I should be able to export and share my project.
After I mark the project and then click on the share-symbol->export I get the following message: "This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera." I have also tried file->share but that menu is in gray and I can't click the options. If I click on any of the clips in the events window I can export them but that's not what I want to do.
I can't remove the trial and download it again since I can only download it once.
I suspect it might have something to do with my organizing the clips and the original files. My originals are in a folder on the desktop and that is the location I import media from into Final Cut's events.
If you have any ideas, please help me out.
    Sincerely,
    Edith

    Thanks for your fast reply!
I had the copy to event function checked on. The folder is a regular folder that I created on my desktop. I have put other folders inside that folder, one of which is called "FILM" and contains 10 camera archive folders that the camera (Sony NEX-5N) created for me. That is how the footage was automatically uploaded onto my MacBook Pro. Each of the camera archive folders contains multiple clips.

    Hi,
That link takes you to the Facebook for iPhone app.
You have posted in the Mac App Store for Mac OS X. (I know it's somewhat confusing especially with the new forum format).
Try deleting the Facebook app from the iPhone by pressing down on the app on the iPhone until it jiggles then tap the circle with an x in it. Then tap the Home button to stop all the apps from jiggling.
Now tap the App Store icon and and re download the Facebook app again.
If that doesn't make a difference, post over in the iPhone Discussions forum at this link.

  • How to export a Captivate 8 project to Power Point?

I would like to be able to export my Captivate 8 project to PowerPoint so I can use it in a classroom training session and also be able to print out the slides to use as handouts.  Does anyone know how I can do this?

Thanks Lillybiri, good tips!  I have a couple of other questions for you:
    1. When I print my handouts it resizes the slides to make them shorter, do you know if there is an option to keep the standard size of the slides?
    2. When you publish to PDF how do you manage the timings without playing the audio?  Obviously the trainer wouldn't teach at the same pace as the audio so there needs to be a way for the trainer to manually advance to the next slide/animation view.
    Thanks,
    Juliette

  • Exporting a Solution Manager project

    Hello Solman experts,
My prof. wants to know if it is possible to export a solution manager project to another Solution Manager. So experts, how to do an export of an project an how to import it in another one? If there is no possibilty please tell me also!!
    Thank you for answering!

    Hi Simon,
It is true that the transport is easy if the connection for transport between the systems is created correctly.
    But the consequences are delicate.
E.g. a project that is assigned to a released transport request cannot be deleted.
And there are difficulties to change the projects in both systems back to be local. Any change to the origin project needs authority to add the change to the transport if the project is not defined to be local ($TMP in transport tab).
To avoid this problem you can copy the project first by the transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN and then transport the copy.
Another point of view is: If the origin project was defined to be local ($TMP in transport tab) some assigned objects may got lost (e.g. links, assigned users, testers). On the other hand: if you define the transport request first before creating objects to the project you enhance effort for maintaining the project. Because any change has to be added to the transport request. And the users need the authorities to do so.
I hope this additional information helps you too.
    Best regards,
    Adelbert

  • Does anyone know why- when I iport a one minute video project into Final Cut X from I Movie the resolution that looked alright in IMovie full screen becomes worst in final cut, full screen...but clear when it is in still position?

Does anyone know why- when I import a one minute video project into Final Cut X from I Movie the resolution that looked alright full screen in I Movie instantly becomes worst on full screen in Final Cut X...but clear again when I stop it to still position?

I'm new to video editing but I think I recall seeing an option in FCPX which lets you choose the video quality for the preview window. I think the window reduces the quality when playing back for performance reasons and so perhaps that is why it seems to have less quality when moved over to FCPX? Just a possibility, I'm sure one of the more experienced users can confirm or deny this theory.

  • After Effects export as Premiere Pro project weird PAL/NTSC problem

This post is not a question. It's here, because I've found a solution and want to share with You.
I've noticed a strange problem during export from AE to PR.
    Ok, here I go.
    AE = After Effects CS3
    PR = Premiere Pro CS3
My AE project is D1/DV PAL Widescreen. It is a sequence of slideshow with some video effects applied. I needed that sequence in PR. I was happy to find a new feature - export as premiere pro project (new for me - i am pretty rookie ;). Thaks to this feature I have saved most of my disk space that is always to low. But, like every first try, this one was not perfect too. I had two problems.
    Problem no 1.
I opened exported project in PR and saw message like "video effect AE.CC COMPOSITE not present".
Whole composition was working perfectly except that one video effect that was fundamental for this project.
*Solution was as easy as it can be. I've just copied that effect from AE plugin folder to PR plugin folder. It worked for this.
    Problem no 2
Like says AE Help "When you export an After Effects project as an Adobe Premiere Pro project, Adobe Premiere Pro uses the settings from the first composition in the After Effects project for all subsequent sequences."
Project settings in PR was exactly D1/DV PAL Widescreen. So where is the problem You ask?
Therefore why my Timeline works in NTSC 29,97 frame rate if all settings match PAL 25 frame rate?! I don't know.
*Solution to fix this annoying bug is to create a new project in PR with all settings for D1/DV PAL Widescreen in this case. Than just import that PR project exported from AE. Now timeline works like it should in PAL frame rate.
    That's it.
I hope this post is helpful, because I didn't find any answer for this here in Adobe forum.

Who's says that Microsoft can't debug?
I used msconfig, first disabling startup items, -same result.
Enabled all startup items, disabled all non-microsoft services - AE worked!
I re-enabled each service in turn until AE crashed.
The fault was related to an item for a video streaming device I have in my house.  It was Monsoon-multimedia's Vulkano Service.  Sometimes under the old name of Hava, this is an app that acts like a sling-box to send my Cable TV to my screen.  It does load a couple of virtual devices in device manager, and uses a proprietary codec.
I uninstalled the vulkano streamer application and rebooted the external Vulkano device.  I reinstalled the Vulkano and verified it connected to the device and could stream.  Once it did, I tried AE again and IT WORKED!
I wonder if simply rebooting the Vulkano would have fixed it.  Its like opening the garage door to turn on the refridgerator.
    Thanks for the help!

  • How to export a 16:9 project with QT to 4:3 Letterbox?

Hello, my problem refers up to the export out of iMovie '09 with QuickTime.
If I want to export a 16:9 project with QuickTime for a Amazon review in 4:3 format, I thought, I must select the option "Receive aspect ratio using" - "Letterbox".
I expect a 4:3 film with bars as the result. And here lies my problem:
Whether I select the option, or not, the result is always a increased movie and cut on the left and on the right.
I tried now also the other options: " Adapt size" produces a 16:9 film without any bars.
"Cut" behaves as " Letterbox" and cuts of the left and the right of the picture
(I'm using the german version, so some of the options maybe named otherwise)
Can it be, because of a further attitude? E.G. that " prepare for Internet-streaming" is selected?
What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any help in advance.

Once you have one re-sized, "control+click" the clip > Copy > Select the rest of the images in the timeline > "control+click" on one of them > Paste Attributes > check basic motion > OK
That should ease the pain a bit.

  • Sound problems exporting a 16:9 project to my DV camcorder (FCE HD)

I was ready to "print" my video to my DV camcorder, Final Cut rendered my video and audio and I hit play and the camera started to record. But immediatly when the camera began recording the project, weird "Digital" disorted sounds were playing on the camera during export. The project was fully rendered. I switched out firewire cables, but still the same problem; I even switched out cameras and the distortions remained, almost as if they were on the video. I then exported my 16:9 project to a high-quality DV file and it played fine. I even imported the video file from my project into iMovie HD and it played fine. What could the distortions be? I know for a fact its not my camera, tape or firewire because I mixed them up. Please assist.

Greetings and welcome to the Apple boards.
I don't know for sure if this will fix your problem, but this document about no audio from certain multimedia content references a fix that has been known to solve many audio issues. Maybe it is worth trying.

  • File Export Adobe Premiere Pro Project

Which script (a line of code, probably) implements this menu item: File>Export>Adobe Premiere Pro Project?

    This may be helpful:
    http://aenhancers.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=889
Mind that even when you can activate a menu command by this method you may not be able to control the resulting dialog via scripting.  That's one of the reasons why this method of accessing commands isn't published.
If there's a function in After Effects that you'd like scripting access for, feel free to send us a feature request (yes, they do get looked at!):

  • Exporting 30 minute project

First, I am not an editor.
OK, now that I've cleared the air. I have a 30 minute project I'm exporting for a film festival. What is the best setting to export in order to burn a DVD?
I just exported Sorensen Squeeze and burned with IDVD, but the picture distored like the interlace fields were out of sync. Anyhow, I'd love to used DVD Studio Pro & Compressor, but I'm not conversant with it yet.
I am trying to get this DVD off by the end of the day. If that tells you how I'm doing.
    best,
    Brigham Cottam

If you have iDVD, just export a self-contained movie from FCP (File->Export->QuickTime Movie), then use that file in iDVD for the authoring and burning.

  • What is the best way to exporting a 1080 HD project to DVD

I am on the final stages of finishing my first ever HD project, having made the jump Premiere Pro 2.0 to Premiere CS5.  Mid-way thru I found it necessary to upgrade to Creative Cloud, so that is where I am working now.  The HD world is so vastly different from the old SD flow that every single step of this project has been a huge learning curve for me.  I am basically an 'oldie' but for all practical purposes I am a total 'newbie' at this.
That said, I am now finding myself ready to export my project to DVD in a SD form with Stereo sound.  This is where my first problem is.  After I get this handled then I will attack the BluRay Surround Sound issue, but for now I need advice on the SD disc.
I am working with footage shot on the Red Epic.  At my current stage I am working withh ProRes 444 renders from which I have created a full nested 74 minute timeline.   Frame rate is 23.976 and the source is1920x1080 with 1.0 square pixels.
So now my movie is done, and it looks and sounds like I want it to. The question now, in a nutshell, is what file type and settings should I use to export my movie so that I can retain aspect ratio?  Should I output a movie first or take the project into another program like encore first and make my disc from there?
Also, I have my first screening coming up (primarily for cast and crew and industry insiders) in a couple of weeks, so I need to create a 1080 HD File with my 5.1 surround track that I project from a laptop.  The screening venue has the capability to do that via a simple HDMI cable hookup, but does the laptop I use need to have any special capabilities to do the job?  And what is the best file type to use for that?
I have always been more of an artist than a tech head, but I am pretty much doing the whole post on this movie alone, with the exception of the Dissolve renders and the sound design, which I had done for me (I have a great finished 5.1 design in .wav format, as well as a stereo version).
I should also mention that I currently have Encore CS5.  Can I work with this on a Premiere CC project?
Any and all help would really be appreciated.

Thanks, this helps.  I am currently encoding the feature for the SD version and will take it into Encore as soon as it is finished.
I think I may bypass the bluray for now and go to my next question, which is:
Do I need anything special in the way of a laptop in order to project an HD 5.1 Surround Sound copy of my movie?  Does the laptop have to have any special capabilities?  I can create a 5.1 copy of my movie but my laptop only shows stereo features.  Will I still be able to project the movie in 5.1?
