Exporting 30 minute video, but only play 3 minutes

G'day,
I am attempting to export in FCE a 30 minute PAL video (720x576) as a DV-PAL AVI, once exported the AVI is 5.1 gig in size, put the play length of the clip is on ly 3 minutes long, where as it should be of course 30 minutes long.
I have no idea where I am going wrong. Any suggestion?
System Specs:
IMac 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB RAM
500 GB free on HD

Are there any In and Out points marked in the timeline?

It's my first project on Final Cut Express HD. When I export it to a Quicktime movie, it exports the complete 5 minute video. When I export it using quicktime conversion to wmv. it only captures the first 30 seconds or so of the video.
Why is this happening? What can I do? Any suggestions?

sounds like you have the demo version of flip4mac, unless you pay for the complete version it will only allow you to export 30 seconds.

Quicktime Launches on CNBC but Only Plays Commercials

Quicktime flip4mac launches when playing a video on CNBC but only plays the commercial - and then stops-when using Safari.
It does not continue on playing the news item.
Is there a setting I need to change on some application?
It will play if I use Opera, Firefox or Camino -
The Quicktime Player launches and plays everything.
I wish it would play in Safari.
I have all the updates for Quicktime, Flip4mac etc.

If you had no problems playing the videos on other browsers, then it seems to me the problem is not QT but with Safari in the way it is handling the CNBC site.
*A couple of things to try:*
To fix a QT related problem w/Safari, quit Safari & look in the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder (this is the Library folder at the root level of your HD, not the one inside your Users/user name folder).
Try removing the VLC Plugin.plugin (if you have it) & *QuickTime Plugin.webplugin files from this folder, & then relaunch Safari. If the problem isn’t fixed, a different plug-in may be to blame. Keep removing files from this folder (start with any third-party plug-ins that are present) until the problem disappears.
Replace the plug-ins that don’t cause any problems.

If you have an Intel-based Mac, running Safari in Rosetta can also resolve some QT plug-in issues.
First quit the app if it’s open & then, in your Applications folder, select Safari & press Command+I.
In the General area of the Safari Info dialog that appears (click the disclosure triangle if this area is not already expanded), select Open Using Rosetta, & then close the Safari Info dialog.
Relaunch Safari.

You Tube videos will only play at 360p and 240p, no 480p. Was working before yesterday.

Standard definition You Tube videos will only play at 360p and 240p, no 480p. HD videos will play at 720p, no 1080p. It was working until yesterday. I have not made any changes to Firefox. I tried upgrading to the latest version. This is not helping either. I don't have this problem when using Internet Explorer. The problem exists on both of my computers.

You may have t opurchase one. Some only do a limited number of transfers without paying.
- Make a backup of yur iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and right clicking on the iPod under devices in iTunes and selecing Backup.
- Restore the iPod from that backup.

Export to html but only safari will show it.

I built a presentation and exported it html but only safari will show it. The other browsers show only a black screen.

Hi,
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply here. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Post a crash report so we can try and help you. Make sure and include the "binary images" section.

If the store in your country does allow it, try to download the song again, see this support article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise report a problem with your purchase. Sign into the iTunes Store and view your purchase history in your account section. Beside the recently bought song should be a link "Report a problem".

One minute video no longer plays on my web page (but it used to!)

I have the latest version of iWeb.
On one of my pages I had a short one-minute video that played fine. Then I must have done something problematic, because now that video does not play when that page is opened. The video does play on my desktop iWeb (the working iWeb) but does not play on that page on the Internet.
The video is at this URL:

Where the video used to be, there is now a white question mark in the Quicktime icon.

Download whole podcast but only play a few minutes

Every week a download a show called "Good news week" (it is an Australia show), which is a 50 min show. But is the past two weeks when I download the 87.2mb podcast (which is usally for a 50min show)Only 10 minutes will play, I have watched the download and it does download the whole show but I can't watch the whole show.
Is it the podcast or my Itunes? I love this show it is my comedy releif for the week.

Hey I have the exact problem too, it IS a problem with the podcast not your computer/ itunes, as it has happened with ep 28 as well. I think that they are doing this on purpose to make people watch the show on tv . they used to have good news week on tv shows but no body downloaded so they took it offline. Now in an effort to make more money off advertisers I think they are only giving the first 10 minuts or so (just the intro's) notice how it ends at the start of the first ad break?
Hopefully they will bring back full episodes because now that the chasers have ended this is my only comedy vodcast

I bought some itunes music on my ipad. I then went to download the songs previously bought onto my PC, from the itunes store. They all downloaded, BUT each song only plays 1 1/2 minutes in length. What happened. Any help wouldbe appreciated. THANKS

90 seconds is the preview time when you want to sample a song in I tunes. I have no idea why or how it would have downloaded the preview, as opposed to the whole song.
I suggest you delete the songs, then go back to the iTunes store and redownload your music. See what happens then. I am assuming that these songs were bought with the same apple Id.

Exporting a video that is 3 minutes and it keeps saying that it is 43 minutes

This seems like a strange problem. I have been duking it out with the frequently asked questions forums and nothing seems to address this problem.
Just to give you an idea of what I have going on.
I am using a mac book pro with OS X version 10.6.8 I have 2.4 Ghz intel core 2 duo and 4 GB 1067 MHZ DDR3
I have edited some video together of an interview. The original clip was about 20 minutes and I have cut it down to around 3 minutes 37 seconds. I made sure to go through and delete any scraps that would have been hanging out at the end of the time line. I have also tried putting timeline markers in at the beginning and end of the project. I have also pulled the grey start and finish bars to just the right places. at 00:00:00 and 03:37:14.
I have tried exporting other videos and everything worked just fine. But for some reason it keeps saying that this video is 43 minutes long and it adds 40 minutes of black to the end of it as well as making the file size really big. I am sending this video to a potential client and I need to keep it under 2 G. I can't send it with 40 minutes of black on the end.
I am using these settings
presets NTSC DV 16:9
file type Quick Time
frame size 720x480
frame rate 29.97
audio settings 48000 Hz stereo 16 bit
Duration 43 minutes 16 seconds.
The worst and best thing is about this. I figured it out at the end of typing all of this

You have to check the box the says work space only

Problem when exporting movie, video stops after 2 minutes

I set up a Project containing both images and videos. They were all shot using a digital camera (Canon SD400).
When I export the 5 minute movie, around 2 minutes the video freezes, but the music (from an mp3 file) keeps playing. At 2 minutes one of the videos start to play and the video has a little yellow button showing on it in the timeline. None of the other videos have this little yellow button, although I am not convinced that this is the one causing the problem. Here is an image of it:

Any ideas why the video playback would stop when I export it? It plays fine in iMovie when I preview the project, but when exporting, the video playback stops.

I have this very same problem. All 640x480 clips shot with a Canon SD550. iMovie 5 will play back everything fine in iMovie, but once I export the file using H.264 or MPEG-4, the video stops after about 30 seconds (of the 3 and half minutes of the video). The music still plays, but the video has not exported properly (and it shows in the file size).
What WILL work is if you export it to web, but I can't use that. I need it exported at its full quality. (Also will not work, by the way.) But, again, it plays in iMovie just fine. I even tried exporting from the timeline file (with the reference media files) in the iMovie file package—but I get the exact same results.
Quite frustrating considering it works in iMovie just fine. Any other ideas, folks?
System/Software: MacBook Pro 2.0GHz, 1 GB, 256 X1600. Latest Tiger, latest QuickTime, latest iMovie HD.
