Exporting a flash CS4 movie to Quicktime

Greetings:
I am exporting a flash movie to quicktime format. It exports but then does not save the blue progress bar goes to the end and then just stays there. It never completes. I have to stop in order to exit the export. I have tried all kinds of work arounds and problem solving to no avail. If anyone can help email me at [email protected]

Actually there is no QuickTime video format, rather there are video formats that the Quicktime video player will display... including .mov and .m4v files.
And as mentioned, its dang near impossible to display the video directly in the email itself. I'd say the best you could do is to provide a LINK to an HTML page. So create that page with just the video in one single <div> container.
And since you want to use a QT format... why would you want to forsake all the Windows users that may not have the QT browser pluggin???? Why do you think Flash is so successful and popular??
So how about this as an option... use the .m4v format (the iProducts version of the mp4) and use a video player that will play that in both iProducts and regular Windows browsers as well??
http://www.longtailvideo.com/players
Sample of .m4v video that plays in IE as well as iProducts:
http://exploreolympics.com/reports/?p=3499
Test the videos on both Windows IE and iProducts... the player does a GREAT job.
I used QuickTime Pro and "Export for Web" to convert the video.... and am VERY happy with results.
Best wishes,

  • Captivate 4 export to Flash CS4

    Hi,
I am encountering a few problems with Adobe Captivate 4:
    - In the previously version it was possible to export a project into different smaller swf files. Is this also possible in Captivate 4?
    - I am trying to export my project to Flash CS4 but I get the following error:
The following elements in your project have not been converted. They are not supported by this importer.
         508 Compilance
After that I won't be able to see the mousemovents and hint boxes.
    - I am not able to play the swf file in internet explorer on windows XP machines. In the previous version it was possible to safe the skin as bitmap, that worked in windows XP. Is this also possible in Captivate 4?
Can somebody help me with one of these problems?

Hello, I'm not able to answer all of your question, but will give it a try:
What do you mean by 'exporting to several small swf's'? I do not know this functionality, have been using CP since version 1. Perhaps you are talking about the splitting up when having FMR recordings: every FMR would end up in a different SWF in CP3. This has been removed in CP4, but if you want really to have the files separated, you can activate 'Externalize resources, part FMR SWF' in the Project, Preferences, Publish settings. You can also externalise skin, widgets  and animations.
508 Compliance has something with accessibility options. Here I'm not sure at all, why there are problems with exporting to Flash CS4.
Problem with playing CP-movies can be due to Flash Security Settings or to the Flash Player installed compared with the Publish settings (for which Player?).
I believe that BMP has been abandoned for playbars because of lower quality. You have to use a playbar, could use the TOC (instead or in combination with the playbar) or have your buttons on the slides (some of the widgets perhaps).
Perhaps someone else could complete this answer,

  • Help!--export error Flash MX mov's to Quicktime mov's

    Hey there,
I normally convert Flash Mx 2004 mov's to normal mov's using Quicktime Pro.
Now, I get an error with the "Export Controller". It usually stops at about %20 through.
The Flash mov's play fine, but won't export.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    -Matt

Yeah, I did export a SWF
    version 5
    enabled flash in Quicktime
and it (the SWF) opens in Quicktime Pro, plays just fine, but then when I try to convert it to a MOV., the exporter crashes.
I can make a SWF movie into a MOV, right?
I'm trying to make a cartoon I made in Flash a MOV file I can upload to Youtube and other video sites.
    Am I missing something?
Thanks for your continuing help, sir!

  • Exporting from Flash cs4

I should know this i suppose but is it possible to export a flash animation (fla/flv) and make it into a quicktime movie that works???
I know its possible, sort of because i did it but the quicktime was really stretched out and didnt work great. There were no settings or preview of what the output was going to look like so it was a mess.
Anyone know how? if its possible?

Best method would be screen recording software.
    I use SnapzX.

  • Captivate 4 not exporting to Flash CS4 correctly

When I export from Captivate 4 to Flash CS4 it doesn't place the imported objects on their own timeline. Instead, it places each object into a movie symbol, which has its own timeline. The problem is that when I save it as a .swf in Flash and then I open it in After Effects none of the highlight boxes are visible.
As you know, After Effects does not see Flash symbols that are buried below the main timeline.
I opened up a project I worked on a year ago (with a different computer) and the Flash files had the exported Captivate items on the main timeline with the object on its own layer. Those files work fine in After Effects.
Can anyone tell me if they are having the same export issue with Captivate 4 not exporting its elements in Flash on the main timeline (as seen in the help file: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Captivate/4.0/Using/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119e9582981-7fff. html)?
    Thanks!

I found the solution here (http://labnol.blogspot.com/2004/09/export-captivate-movie-to-macromedia.html). I'll reprint the steps here:
    1. Close Flash CS4 if it is open.
    2. Open Windows Explorer.
    3. Navigate to:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Captivate
    4. Copy the RDMFISTUB.dll file.
    5. Navigate to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash CS4\en\Configuration
Note: The 'Local Settings' folder by default is hidden. If you are unable to locate the 'Local Settings' folder you can unhide it by opening Windows Explorer, select Tools > Folder Options > View, and select the option to 'Show hidden files and folders'.
    6. Create a new folder called Importers. Your final path should look like this:
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash 8\en\Configuration\Importers
    7. Paste the RDMFISTUB.dll into the Importers folder.
    8. Open Flash CS4.
    9. Create a New Flash Document. Save the document (or Flash may freeze when importing)
    10. Select File > Import > Import to Stage.
    11. Browse to and select the CP file.
    12. Click OK.
Here is a comparison picture of the results. Without the steps above the imported Captivate assets will reside inside of a movie symbol (one for each slide). This is labeled "incorrect" in the image. I want each asset on a new layer in the root timeline. This is labeled "correct" in the image.
I want to go from Captivate to Flash to After Effects (because Captivate generated Flash files are unreadable in After Effects). For full disclosure, I used Captivate 3 in the steps above, but I hope this is a solution for Captivate 4 as well (I decided to stick with Captivate 3 because it worked in a project I used a year ago).

  • Question Slide won't export to Flash CS4 (Captivate 4)

I'm using Captivate 4 and Flash CS4 in Windows.  I have built a short and simple 5-question quiz in Captivate, and I need to export it to Flash CS4.
I have tried both opening the .cp file onto a new Flash stage, and exporting to Flash from inside Captivate.  Sometimes, Flash crashes.  Mostly, I get this error:
The following elements in your project have not been converted.  They are not supported by this importer.
    Question Slide
Since I'm basically using Captivate 4 as a quiz generator for this project, this is definitely a showstopper.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
There is no suport for quzzing for "Export to Flash" feature in Captivate 4.
You can either publish the quiz as a SWF and add it into flash or use learning interactions which you get as templates in flash for ELearning Suite.

  • Flash CS4- Movie clips suddenly invisible on stage? (Same file OK on other comps/CS5)

Flash CS4 had been working regularly on my Macbook Pro (Intel - Tiger) for a while, and then suddenly, I opened a file and all the movie clips went from being visible "stills" to invisible and represented only by an "o". I have tried settings, preferences, even uninstall/reinstall, but somehow my settings or something got messed up and I can't view movie clips on the stage.
I have tried a variety of different .fla files and none allow movie clips to be visible on the stage. The files were created in CS4.
This is true for movie clips that have 1 frame to many frames.
When I Publish or Test Movie, the clip is visible and normal, but it is impossible to edit the file without being able to see the movie clips.
I know that the issue is with my installation of Flash/settings being messed up, not with the file(s) because when opened on other computers (CS4 and CS5), movie clips are visible on the stage, as they should be.
Example below: In Flash CS4, the stage just has "o"s where I used to be able to see my movie clip, but in the Test Movie, everything is there. To be clear, I could see the movie clips in this exact file, and then the next time I opened it I could no longer see them.
I am hoping there is an obvious solution that I have overlooked. Help is appreciated in designer-friendly (non-developer) terms.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Can you please try a few things for me? This will help us narrow down the issue.
Test 1: Switch from ActionScript 3.0 to ActionScript 2.0.
    1. Open up the file where you see the "o" instead of your movieclips.
    2. Go to File > Publish Settings.
    3. Switch player target to ActionScript 2.0.
** Did your movieclips reappear or is it still showing "o"?
Test 2: Delete user configuration folder and recreate preferences files.
    1. Quit Flash if it is running.
    2. Delete the following 6 files:
    Volume/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/FlashCS4
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Flash CS4 Preferences
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Flash 10 MRU
    /Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.flsh-10.0.plist
    /User/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Flash CS4/
    /Library/Application Support/Macromedia/FlashAuthor.cfg
    3. Relaunch Flash and these files will be recreated.
** Did this solve your issue?
    Please let me know. Thanks!

  • Export to Flash CS4

I have an interaction built in CP and it runs pretty well. However, when I exported it to Flash CS4, I lost all the interactions (it became a simply linear play)and got a big bunch of errors while previewing it.
If files exported to Flash from Captivate can not be edited in Flash, what's the purpose of providing this exporting feature then?
    Is this a bug?
Anyone has experience with attempt to edit the actionscript in Flash after exporting the CP file to Flash CS3 or 4?
    Thanks a lot.

Sounds like it might be locked to Flash CS3. Captivate 3 does
    not know
anything about Flash CS4, since it was released a long time
    after Captivate

  • Export  Premiere Pro CS4 file into QuickTime Movie

    Hello!
I am a student at the Art Institute Online program.  I am taking a video editing class using Premiere Pro CS4.  I successfully completed my video which needs to be saved to display in Quicktime; however, I am not able to upload the file to my class discussion because the file is too large.  The size of my Tfile zipped is 169,761 KB. Is there anything anyone can recommend?
    Thanks much,
    Annette

You need to reduce the bitrate to reduce the file size.
It is okay to then ZIP the file to make it even smaller for uploading to a server, however people will have to then download it and unzip it to watch.
You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.
    Cheers

  • How do you improve quality of QuickTime movie exported from Flash?

    Hi
I have designed a Flash animation for a client who has asked me to also provide it in a format which can be used in a film he wants to produce in Apple Final Cut Pro.  I assumed the best format would be QuickTime but whenever I export the Flash file in to QuickTime the quality of the film is awful - the graphics leave fragments of themselves behind as they move (if that makes sense?!) and the overall quality isn't very crisp.
I have tried various export settings and followed a few tutorials online but still having no success!  If anyone can make any suggestions I would really appreciate it or is there even another file format that can be used with Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks for your advice!!

Whenever I export an animation out for video, I always export it uncompressed.  It gives a very large file, but then you don't have to worry about it getting compressed multiple times (as the video will be compressed when completed), and I have not had any problems with it.
If you are still having problems with QT export - I have heard reports that setting a time in the export (stop after X time, rather than stop at last frame) will get rid of it.
And, if you still have problems exporting to QT, then I suggest exporting to AVI and converting to MOV with a separate tool.

  • Help me publish/export CS3 Flash file as Quicktime Video, no controller

I am working on a simple timeline animation and would like to publish/export my flash file as a quicktime file with out the default controller. I can export it no problem with the controller. Also I tried publishing it as a QuickTime with Flash Track (.mov) and I get this error message. "QuickTime does not support Adobe Flash track beyond Flash version 5. You can however, export a QuickTime move with Flash rendered as video by selecting File > Export > Export Movie.
Also, does anyone know if transparencies are ok if publishing as a QuickTime movie?

QuickTime 7.3.1, and higher, no longer support Flash (.swf) in playback. Previous versions did allow .swf format as a muxed "track" if "Published" from Flash applications as version 5, or lower.
To turn off the controller (none) use the Movie Properties / Presentation tab.
QuickTime does allow levels of transparency and also "alpha channels" in most image formats that support them (.png).

  • Convert a movie from Quicktime to MPEG4 in MPEG Streamclip

I want to convert a movie from Quicktime (.mov) which I created in Final Cut Express to MPEG4 in MPEG Streamclip to be able to see it on my Samsung TV. The problem is that the uncompressed movie, comverted only from Quicktome to MPEG 4, stops almost every moment on my Samsung TV. I have connected an external harddrive in NTFS there via USB 2.0 (Samsung TV cannot play movies in HFS etc.). The uncompressed movies are bigger than 4GB in Quicktime.
    http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201112/20111208190112921/Web_GSDVBE UA_GER.pdf
I ask here how to use MPEG streamclip (free version; I use 1.9.2) so convert my movies into MPEG 4 so that I cann watch it on my Samsung TV.
I filled out "Bildrate" "30" but this did not work. I have chosen less quality but there are still - less - interruptions and I find it laborious to test different versions of less quality so that it might work.
I ask you also because I want to create my movies to give it to other people via the internet (f.i. via rapidshare) but I need a smaller size of my movies and do not know all the different TVs my friends have. I cannot imagine that it is not possible to create a movie in MPEG 4 that cannot be seen in many TVs via an external harddrive?

I know that I can do that also in FCE. It takes much more time to convert a movie into MPEG4 than to export it as uncompressed movie in QuickTime which I can use f.i. in iDVD to burn a DVD or watch it on my MBP.
But I don't know the versions of TVs of other people if I want to send them the movie via internet f.i. via mydrive.ch etc. which have limited space if used for free. So which settings to choose for an output in MPEG4?
For my one use it is o.k. if the movie can be seen correctly in MPEG4 on my TV but I can also watch it via my MBP on my TV via HDMI.

  • Export part of a movie

How do you export part of a movie to Quicktime after setting in and out points?
    Thanks for your help

I believe this is correct. Although I haven't had the need for Compressor yet (therefore haven't bought it yet), as far as I can tell and have heard, you export the entire thing into Compressor at which point you can mark in and out points for the compression and export of your final product. It can't be done in FCPX alone, unless you duplicate your project and delete chunks of it to export only the parts you want.

  • Flash CS4, Exporting Quicktime Movie: size, aspect ratio, and alignment

I am new to Flash so this may be a basic question, but I have not been able to find anything in the help files or the forums.
I have tried several times to change the size of my quicktime movies, from 550 pixels by 400 pixels to 480 pixels by 480 pixels, and I cannot seem to do it. I have used "Modify > Document" and tried every option I could find through this command. Each time I export I double check that the export settings match my desired size, and they do, but when I open the movie in quicktime, it has been stretched to fit 550 x 400 pixels. The preview movie looks exactl how I want, it is only the exported movie that is incorrect.
Is it possible to make a quicktime movie of the size I would like, or is that a standard format that cannot be adjusted?
As a workaround, I have tried squeezing my 480x480 content into the 550x400 stage (while scaling it prportionally). but when I do this, the square of content is not centered in the background in quicktime. It is off center in the preview movie as well, and this commonly occurs after I have used "modify > document" to change the size of the document. The side to which it is aligned seems to be inconsistent.
Is there a way to realign the video after I have modified the document size? Does changing the document size through "modify > document" affect the centering and alignment of my video? Is there a way to change it back?
I have attached images of my videos in flash, and then what they look like after export.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    -Ben

    to explain a little further . . .
the dark gray areas in my images delineate the content of the animation, and in the "550x400 after export" image, the black strip to the right is a margin showing the background color of the document, which is black. notice that there is only a margin on one side, and not both.
    Thanks some more,
    -Ben

  • Flash CS4 won't export to .mov PLEASE HELP ME!!

Like the title says, i've been trying to export my .fla as a .mov from the Export>Export Movie option in the File menu. It will start exporting but once the progress meter gets to the end it just stops and never finishes.
I don't think it has anything to do with:
    A: multiple scenes
B: actionscript directing to each scene
    C: movieclips
since I was doing the exact same thing in CS3 without a problem.
What i'm doing now in CS4 that I wasn't in the CS3 version:
    A: Motion tweens
B: importing .ai files to my library
C: using symbols created for flash in illustrator from imported .ai files.

Thank you Zombie. Specifying the length helped me export as a quicktime movie.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a rubbish piece of coding in Flash CS4 that doesn't let you export a movie over 1 minute long without specifying the length of movie.
Ridiculous really. I expect this could be fixed in seconds by Adobe, but instead I'm left trawling the internet for hours wasting budget.
