Exporting a pdf into an editable word doc on iPad

I need someone to walk me thru the process to export a pdf into a word doc for editing on an iPad.  Please?

The OCR is very dependent on the quality of the scan. You might try testing with various scanning options on a sample page. Typically 300 dpi is the minimum for OCR, but some folks like 600 dpi. If the page is clean, with no dust or other imperfections and the text is crisp, you should be able to do reasonably well. It is probably best to run the corrections steps after the OCR (looking at suspects) and editing appropriately.
The conversion to WORD should not be expected to be real clean in terms of retaining format. You need to look to using style sheets in WORD to simplify the format fixes. Then run the spell check and grammer checker (you might end up with a better document than you started with). There is not a lot more you can do with Acrobat.
You do have the options of ClearScan and Searchable Text. In one version of Acrobat, ClearScan used some strange fonts (not system fonts) that did not convert well to WORD. I was able to get a better result with Searchable Text in that case. I have not played with OCR that much, and so am just giving some comments of things I have run into.

I have Acrobat 9 Pro and I'm trying convert a scanned PDF document to an editable Word doc.  I've ran OCR on the document but I'm still losing some text and formatting.  What can I do to improve the integrity of the conversion?

  • How can I export this pdf into a readable word?

    Dear all,
I am trying to export the following pdf document into a word document :
However, here is what I get: Db bte earf>eltung ber rf enntniff e, bie aum mernunf tgef d)de g ören, ben fid)eren @ang einer iff enfd)a gee ober nid)t, baß läßt fid) f>alb au bem @rfolg beurteilen. etc.
Instead of: Ob die Bearbeitung der Erkenntnisse, die zum Vernunftgeschäft gehören, etc…
Does anyone know how I could solve this issue?
Thank you very much in advance,
    Pierre

Have you started with a scanned document and then trying to go to DOCX. If so, you may have OCR set on the document before the export and it may be that the OCR can not recognize the fonts. However, the recognition appears to be based on typical block characters and I might interpret them the same way. You can try to change the primary language to German in the OCR, but that will likely not do the job. I suspect what you need is something that recognized old-German as this document appears to be (if I got the language wrong, I apologize). I am not sure Acrobat is up to the task on the type style, but is comparing to standard block characters. Some of the dedicated OCR packages might be able to do a better job.

Yes this sounds interesting. Can I update to that from the PDF Export I have just renewed? How much would that cost?
    Thanks for your quick answer.

  • Can not edit Word docs after converting from a ExportPDF file. The PDF file is converted into a non-editable Word Doc image.

Converting a PDF file (scanned copy Adobe Reader X) to a Word Doc using ExportPDF conversion. The Word Doc created is a image file which is not editable. I need an editable Word Doc file.

    Hi robertw,
Can you please tell me more about how the PDF was created? (If you don't know, choose File > Properties, and look for the PDF Producer on the Description tab.)
If the PDF was created by a third-party PDF creator, it may be that it's not well-written, and that can affect the quality of the conversion. See Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community.
That said, you may be able to select the text by triple-clicking in the Word document.
Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

    Hello,
I have paid for this service for a year and it never worked on my computer.  I just renewed and it finally converted the file but it will not let me edit it.  I join you in being bummed.  Either I get help with this or I am asking for a 2 year refund.   My intention was to be able to edit a pdf in MS Word.

  • Once i download a pdf file to a word doc, how do i edit the doc

once i download a pdf file to a word doc how do i edit it

What you are trying to do is upload a file to a server not download. Depending on the mechanism that the server uses an alternate browser like iCab may be able to do this.

  • Export PDF converts filled PDF form without the data - Turns filled PDF form onto blank Word doc. Is there a solution to this or did Adobe just sell me a service that doesn't work?

ExportPDF is not for forms. In general, converting forms to Word is a really, really bad idea which can even cause legal problems. Work with the form as a PDF. Acrobat (not Reader) can export form data as simple text for example.

  • Converting pdf to editable word doc

Does anyone know if you can convert pdf files back into an
editable word document? If so, how?
    Thank you.

    Hello Murphy#1,
    Thanks for your post.
Converting PDF to another file type is outside of the scope
of Acrobat.com's functionality. Of course that doesn't mean the
    operation can't be done!
    I performed a
    Google
search for PDF to Word and saw a few options.
You may consider looking one or more of these.
Or if you'd like, you could ask this question over on the
Acrobat forums, as some users there may be performing this type of
    workflow as well.
    Acrobat
    Pro Forums
Give some of those suggestions a try!
    Cheers,
    Pete

  • Pls tell me how I can convert a PDF form to a Word doc, and have radio buttons etc work?

Pls tell me how I can convert a PDF form to a Word doc, and have radio buttons etc work?  My PDF form did convert using Adobe PDF Export.... but the formatting is a schamozzle if I try to do anything with it.  Most importantly, I need the check boxes and radio buttons to work in Word!

Checkboxes and radio buttons are form objects from Acrobat.  There is no equivalent for these objects, with the way they were constructed, within Word.
    I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
