Exporting a sequence if a portion of the video is corrupt? (HDV)

I have a single camera project where it seems as if a second or two of the footage (HDV) is corrupt. The frames just jump and the sound is completely screwed up. Whether it's the tape or the transfer, it's not important enough for me to investigate that portion further. MPEGStreamclip opens the file fine and doesn't complain.
Final Cut just won't export a QuickTime file of it. It keeps erroring out once it gets to that portion of the timeline, and a large chunk of the footage that it exports is completely pixellated, even though it looks perfectly fine in the timeline itself.
I've tried:
1) Export -> QuickTime Movie (current settings, self-contained)
2) Export -> QuickTime Movie (current settings, recompress all frames)
3) Export -> QuickTime Movie (uncompressed 10-bit, self-contained, recompress all frames)
4) Export -> Using Compressor (JPEG 100%)
All of these methods fail.
How can I get this sequence to export without failing?

I re-compressed the clip in MPEGStreamclip using the Apple Intermediate Codec and re-connected the media without incident. I'll find out tomorrow morning if it exported properly overnight.

Black Out Certain Portion Of The Video

I am super new to the Final Cut Pro X. I have a very simple question. I want to black out or remove a certain portion of the video without cropping that part. Below is an example image from the video:
You can see a blue text on the left top corner. I want it gone without cropping it. It should be black like the area behind it. Can somebody guide me how i can acheive that. Thanks!

Add a black custom generator above the clip.

Unless you held down the Command key when dragging the iPhoto Library package to the flash drive you only copied the library. How is the flash drive formatted? If it was not OS X Extended (journaled) the integrity of the library's internal structure was probably compromised.
If you don't have a current backup of your library do the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.

Exporting entire sequence (MPEG-2 DVD) exports entire sequence audio but only 2/3 video?

I'm certain this is something simple but can't for the life of me figure out what is going on here. My entire sequence is 24:10 long. Export produces a video file that is 17:19 long and an audio file that is complete (24:10). Looking at my sequence, 17:19 is precicely in between two clips (of dozens) but there doesn't appear to be anything interesting/unusual about either of those clips or the break and transition between them?

Either by playing the video file (it ends precisely between those two clips) , viewing it's length metadata in Windows, or after importing in to DVD Flick to burn a DVD.
Since I posted this question I tried exporting with H.264 YouTube preset and got entire sequence exported fine (video and audio).

The Sequence in Premiere not display the video channels

I have this problema: The Sequence panel NOT display the video channels, only the audio cannel. This occur in an old Project. When I start a new Project there is no problem, the sequence show all video and audio channels. How can I fix it ? Muchas gracias por su cooperación!!

Maybe try importing the old project into a new one, instead of just opening the old project.

Export -> Master Mix - choose the File Type -> *Using Compressor*, this will give you options for re-encoding or preserving the video file.

Export a portion of the video WITHOUT the audio

Hi, I have tried many, many different methods (too many to list) for removing the audio from my mp4 file before exporting, but the flv file continues to have the audio. Does anyone know of a sure way to get rid of it (yes - I have deleted it! and have chosen not to include the audio in the Export options! but it is still there).

Exporting a quicktime .mov file to rework the video in imovie- pixelated

Hi- I have a 17 minute clip saved in .mov that I want to break apart into 3 segments. When I try to import the .mov file into imovie- it says no way... so I have exported the file as a .mp4 and the file is totally pixelated... so not worth breaking apart.... what can I do to export it? So, it views properly when I import it? anything would be really helpful and i really appreciate it! thanks for the help! spence

I had similar issues when importing shorter clips. The solution that eventually worked for me was to export each clip from Quicktime Pro as Progressive footage in a DV stream using the DVCPRO50 settings. Exporting in the regular DV format caused the footage to look very pixelated in certain parts. The downside to this is that the DVCPRO50 settings produce clips that are twice as large. (A 1 min clip will be around 400MB in size, compared with 200MB for regular DV.) Try that (assuming you have upgraded to Quicktime Pro).

Why are my transitions displaying the wrong portion of the clip?

I am working on a short film, and am having trouble with several of my transitions. After editing the sequence in Premiere, I performed the color grading via direct link to SpeedGrade. The Lumetri effects from Speedgrade are applied to an adjustment layer on a separate track above the original video clips. If I have problems with the transitions (all cross dissolves) in my timeline. When any of them start, they all transition to a later point in the second clip. As soon as the transition ends, it cuts to the proper point in the second clip. I hope that makes sense. If I disable the adjustment layer, everything looks fine (other than the grades are not visible, obviously). Removing the transition from the adjustment layer track eliminates the problem, but then there is an obvious cut from the previous grade to the next.
I did not notice the problem when I edited the sequence in Premiere, it was in Speedgrade that I first noticed it, and it shows up back in Premiere now.
I have no idea what could be causing this problem. I have never worked with adjustment layers before, and don't know much about them. Is there something I don't know that I should?

Note: I am using the CC 14 versions of both programs.

I tried that: I shortened the end of the outgoing clip and lengthened the beginning of the incoming clip, so that a centered cross dissolve occupies the same space:
The problem still persists. For this particular transition, the transition shows a frozen frame from the incoming clip, instead of a portion of the video like mentioned above.
I have also tried deleting the render files for the transition; no luck. Could it be some sort of bug or glitch in the program?

Embedded animated Symbols won't export as sequence

FLASH CS5 using Windows XP. I have created an animation that I want to export to sequence of .png files. The file has Symbols that contain embedded animations.
For instance, I have a flashing light in one Symbol. That is embedded in a bouncing police car Symbol. The police car Symbol (with the embedded flashing light) is brought onto a flat bed truck at the "scene" level which is driving down a road. It all looks nice if I render an internal swf file. However, when I export the individual frames, all that is rendered is the flat bed moving down the road. The bouncing car and the flashing light are there but without the animation of each.
Does someone know how to export an animated sequence that include the animations embedded in its Symbols?

you cannot change a movie clip into a symbol, it will be converted into a still image.

PE10:How can I limit a transition to just part of the video

I want to limit the page peel transition to affect the portion of the video screen that depicts a screen showing a slide presentation. The slide show does not show up on the video, so I have to overlay the screen with images from the slide show & want the transitions to affects just that part of the screen.
I can’t seem to limit the transition with a matte.

That is sort of like the workflow in PrPro, where one would create a Sequence (think of a mini-Project, in a Project), then edit with the desired Transition, and then Nest that Sequence into a new one, where the PiP would be created from it. In PrE, there are no Sequences, so no Nesting, but you got around that by editing in a Project, then Exporting/Sharing, to then Import into another Project. More than one way to "skin a cat."
Steve G. always has some great workflow modifications, to get most things to work in PrE. Those suggestions are always greatly appreciated.

What version of FCP X?
Did you render? what are the project specs? do you use many compound clips? how much ram, hard drive space, how is the hard drive connected?
It looks like your mac can't keep up. Maybe the bottleneck is the hard drive, or something else.
Try exporting a master file and see if the video is ok.
Also, keep Activity Monitor open and see how much memory pressure you've got.

IMovie: I uploaded HDV video from a Canon HV20 and then to YouTube. The video and the audio are out of sync. The audio seems to precede the video by a tiny bit which is disconcerting. Any recommendations about how to correct this? Thank you.

I downloaded video via iMovie from my Canon HV20. The video was in HDV. I then published it to YouTube and Vimeo and in both cases, the audio is out of sync: the video precedes the audio by a fraction of a second. The original is fine as viewed in the camera.
Any suggestions as to why and how to correct it?

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
