Exporting a slideshow created on iPhoto onto memory stick

I am trying to export a 10 minute slideshow that i have created on iPhoto.
I am trying to put this onto a memory stick as it is being projected onto a wall in a performance i am doing.
At the moment it is telling me that there is not enough room on my memory stick, altough there is a lot of free space so does this mean the slideshow has to be compressed?
Also i am exporting it onto my desktop and its taking a really long time is this normal?

See, A ten minute long slide show with effects is like a huge 500MB file if you are exporting it in the the largest or all screen sizes available... so it takes like 15-20 minutes to export it and IT IS NORMAL. When it comes to exporting to Thumb drive... It is recommended for you to export it first to Macintosh SSD/HDD ( This will make the xport faster too ) and then you can transfer it to thumb drive.

How do I import an iPhoto Library  (V.7.1.5) created on my old MacBook (10. 6.8) into my new Macbook pro (10.9.1) running iPhoto 9.5.1? I tried copying onto memory stick and moving to new mac, but new iPhoto doesn't recognise the library.

So what exactly did you copy over? If it's a 12 gig iPhoto Library then it sounds like the files are there. Perhaps the copy went wrong along the way.
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Email a slideshow created on IPhoto

How can I email a slideshow created on IPhoto to a contact who may have a PC?

Export the slideshow - that makes a movie of it, but I wouldn't email it. Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.

has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • Export from itunes onto memory stick

I have been trying to export my music in MP3 form from iTunes onto a memory stick for use in my car. I can't figure out how to do this. There is lots of information about transferring music to another Apple product, but not a memory stick. I'd appreciate any help.
    Message was edited by: moderator

If the songs are not already in MP3, create MP3 versions using the document 1550 that Niel references.
Insert the memory stick in your computer and open it so it looks like a folder. Then highlight the songs in iTunes and drag them to the folder. This will cause the songs to be copied to the memory stick.
If you happen to be running iTunes in full screen mode, make it smaller so that you can see the folder and you will know what you are doing.

  • Slideshow created with iphoto will not burn with idvd

I cannot seem to burn dvd using idvd.  slideshow created with iphoto

I'm having the same problem after upgrading to 10.3.9 and iphoto 4.0.3. Read below:
Until recently I was running 10.1.5 using iphoto 2 to burn folders of photos within a library. After upgrading to 10.3.9 and iphoto 4.0.3 I get a message: “The burn to the ARCHOS MiniCDRW XS8432 drive failed. The device failed to respond properly, unable to recover or retry.”
Actually, I got another message before I installed patchburn 3.1.2. After installing patchburn 3.1.2 for 10.3.X, system profiler recognized my burner and says it is supported but the above message is displayed after the program has stopped the process.
Toast Titanium 5.2.1 burns CD’s just fine but when a CD with an iphoto library is inserted into the CD-ROM the iphoto program will not recognize it. In other words, it won’t show up in iphoto as an iphoto library or anything for that matter. Maybe there’s a way to do this in Toast or maybe I need something else to make iphoto work with my burner.
    Can anybody help me? Thanks!

  • Slideshow created in Iphoto no titles on ATV

I love that the slideshows that I create in IPhoto sync to the Apple TV however, I cannot seem to get my photo titles to display! I have set the aspect ratio to each of the three options in IPhoto with no positive result. My TV is a Widescreen 720P HD TV. I have Apple TV set on 720P Widescreen. Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, that would be the titles of the individual photos.

  • Can i move my songs onto memory stick and then back after work on computer is finished

can i move itunes library onto a memory stick while work is being done on computer and then return them after, thanks

Sure... you can backup your data to a memory stick, a USB drive, a NAS, or any other backup source you like.
But do not simply move the songs, grab the ENTIRE iTunes folder so that the iTunesLibrary.itl file is captured as well.  Without that file, you essentially start over with playlist, playcounts, and library layout.

  • How can I put a slideshow created in Iphoto, out to my digital camera??

I am using Tiger, and Ilife 6.
I made a slideshow in Iphoto from some postcards I scanned. I want to use those snaps in a movie I am creating on a stand alone editing unit (not on the MAC) Is there anyway I can put this slideshow (with the snaps I want to use in a movie) back into my video camera and not out to a DVD. This way I would have them on tape and could then put the contents of the tape into my stand alone unit to add to my movie I am creating there. I use a Prestige to do my editing of video, not Imovie.
Before upgrading to Ilife 6 there was an option to do this I no longer can find an option. Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Stella

Hello all those who took the time to help me with my problem. Thank you all. Yes I do have the option of sending it back to my camera I have found again since I went into iMovie.
My problem was I did the slide show in Iphoto because I wanted to use the Burns effect and the only option was to put it into iDVD (not iMovie) from there.
By putting the shots in iMovie I can send it back to my camera BUT cannot use the Burns effect so I am left with the black side on each side of the picture in the postcard. Guess you can't have everything.
THanks again you have all been very patient and helpful.
    Stella
    P.S.
re: It's in iMovie HD 7 that the Share menu appeared. .......No, it's in 6.0.3 on mine but only in iMovie not in the iDVD where I was trying to work.

  • Slideshow Created in iPhoto 6; Need to Show on Laptop with iPhoto 5!

I created a long (200+ pix) slideshow on my iMac, which has iPhoto 6. I have now copied the entire iPhoto library and moved it over to my son's iBook, from which I plan to play the slideshow (via projector) at a party tomorrow night. Alas, the iBook has iPhoto 5 installed, and I can't open the moved library.
What are my options here? I don't have a lot of time here. If I upgrade the laptop to iLife '08, will it be able to read the iPhoto '06 slideshow? Any other options, with note to the fact that I am really short on time to devote to this. Thanks.

Making the DVD is the business of iDVD, and your other questions are best addressed in their forum:

Sorry, but I don't use the app enough to help.

  • Can't manually advance a slideshow created in iPhoto

    Hello,
I'm a new mac user and this my first entry, so bear with me.....I created a slideshow in iPhoto of about 300 photos and 3 postcards. I did not add music because I want to be able to advance the slideshow manually (it it true that you can not use manual controls with music?). I then sent the slideshow to iDVD. Using magic dvd to create the slideshow with settings at Professional Quality encoding and Single-Layer DVD. Next I wrote the project to a disk image to test it.
Firstly, the quality of the pictures is much worse when I view the slideshow on my mac with the dvd player than they are in iPhoto when I view the slideshow. Also, I can not forward or reverse the slides - it goes back to the beginning. All I want to do is send my family the pictures for them to be able to see them on most dvds and use manually control. Is there an easier way to do this, bypassing iDVD?
    Thanks for your help!

All I want to do is send my family the pictures for them to be able to see them on most dvds and use manually control.
If you want set top DVD player playback, I suggest you create a a series of slideshows IN iDVD that each contain a MAXIMUM of 99 images. Do not create the slideshow in iPhoto or iMovie.
Is there an easier way to do this, bypassing iDVD?
Some DVD players will play a disc containing jpeg images

  • Why can't i drag albums created in iPhoto onto desktop

    or into Photobox?
    Thanks

This seems to be a desktop issue rather than an iPhoto one, as you can't drag from Mail either.
So I'd start by repairing permissions.
Can you export to the desktop?

  • I have two questions.  How do I burn a DVD from a slideshow created in IPhoto without using IDVD which is no longer available?!!  And is there any way to control the automatic zooming in my slideshow?

I know IMac messed up by no longer offering IDVD OR ILIFE on their new computers. Yes I too am mad I spent the money.  But does anyone have a solution  on how to work with the limited programs I did get?  Or what programs do you suggest I purchase to be able to do something as simple as burn a slidewshow on a DVD!!!!  I already purchases Xilisoft DVD which does not allow for photos only videos.  I want to use both!  I have had my new mac less than a year.  Can I still return it?

    If you contact Apple at
U.S. iPod, Mac and iPad technical support:
    (800) APL-CARE (800-275-2273)
You should be able to get a copy of the original DVDs for  a nominal charge.
