Exporting AAFs of a bin?

Hi, we recently upgraded to Adobe Premiere Pro CC v.8.1 and when I try to export a bin as AAF, it shows up as greyed out. Maybe I'm missing something really basic, but in v.5.5 this worked perfectly. Thoughts? Thanks.

I'm skeptical of the bin thing because it's working fine here for the sequence, but not available for bins.
Note that the needed bin is created when I import the exported AAF.
You are highlighting the sequence pane before trying this, yes?

Is there a simple way to create a printable text version of a timeline and footage available within bins?

For your timeline you can export an EDL.
Bins? Open them, take a screen shot (Shift-Apple-4...then draw a box around what you want) and print that.

  • Export an Effects Presets Bin from CS5.5 to CS6

    Hi,
I have a number of effects presets built in CS5.5, mostly all using standard PPro effects.  I simply want to export the entire presets bin so that I can import it into CS6.  I can't figure out if it's possible to do.  I know I can export each preset I've created over the years, one by one... but I have roughly 100 presets built, I just want to know if there is a quicker way, a way to select all and export.  I understand some effects will likely not translate across the upgrade.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Cheers,
    A.J.

Seemed to answer my own question... I thought I had selected one of my custom made Preset Bins and tried to export, but I guess I didn't.  This will make it easier as I only have 12 bins to export.
So... select the bin, right-click, export.  Pretty simple.  I'm dumb.

To have to stop the process, 'kill' doesn't help, it will be respawned immediately. I don't know your OS, normally (as root)
    /etc/init.d/init.cssd stop
    should work.

  • Exporting AAF for Pro Tools.

So I got an OMF from FTP into STP with no problem, only to find that I couldn't export it again - hopefully a feature in the new STP? Anyway, my only option was to export an AAF (don't have the original FCP timeline to work with) - this audio needs to go to Pro Tools.
But my Pro Tools guy is saying he can't do anything with the AAF file if it's not consolidated into one file - like the OMF normally is.
So - is there a way to export a consolidated AAF? I don't see the option.

Our round trip workflow works, but still hoping for a better alternative in the future.
Duplicate & Rename the sequence for export (just a good habit to have... "videoblah.002, 003, etc). Then clean up any potential audio / video problems; clips that are not enabled, duplicate audio, delete blank tracks, and all the stuff the seems to crowd in the back of my timeline.
-It is a good idea to label your audio tracks for transfer (right-click> rename)
After that I export an OMF. (File>Export>OMF) and select the settings below:
That's just audio so for video, I export a quicktime H.264 video for ProTools DVtoolkit (video import plugin).  Protools will except H.264 .MOV files, but it will not ingest H.264 .MP4's.  It will also handle 1920x1080 files, but if I am rendering out a long project I like to keep the file size smaller by cutting the resolution in half or more.
The audio guy then takes it from there and gives me back a 24-bit single track audio wav file.
Thus far it seems to be a workflow, but if I want to go back and make changes, then either I have to do it all over again, or tell the audio guy specifically what needs done.
All in all, it's not efficient as using a roundtrip workflow such as AVID > ProTools and back again in AAF form.
    Hope that helps.

  • Question: Exporting .aaf from Premiere Pro CC v8

I want to export an aaf from Premiere to be color corrected in Davinci Resolve. My export fails because some of the clips in my timeline have effects (horizontal flip, gaussian blur, volume). I get a pop-up saying "Translation Issue". What am I doing wrong?

I mean a .aaf file. I've read that it is compatible with Davinci Resolve, and I can round trip my sequence from Premiere to Resolve using .aaf. I've tried exporting it a Final Cut Pro xml as well. Both times almost immediately the export stops and a warning pops up listing all of the issues:
    Translation issue:
Sequence <Feature_Color> at 00:02:38:07, video track 7: Effect <Horizontal Flip> on Clip <JT_20131128_INTSmallMnt03.MOV> not translated.
    Translation issue:
Sequence <Feature_Color> at 00:08:57:04, video track 6: Effect <Track Matte Key> on Clip <DG_06_06_2014_Radio_CU_06.MOV> not translated.
    Translation issue:
Sequence <Feature_9> at 00:00:00:00, audio track 8: Effect <Internal Channel Volume Stereo> on Clip <ATF soundtrack_2.aif> not translated.

  • How to Export AAF in sections?

    Ok I have a 2 hour project with R3Ds.
I don't want to export an AAF of the whole timeline.
Can you export an AAF of just a section of the timeline?
    In AVID this is possible.
    Thanks!

IIRC, AAF exports the whole project, right?
If so, just hack off the part you don't want to export in your sequence, reduce your project, Save As another name, and export that.

  • Premiere CS6 exporting AAF for Smoke on Mac

I have been trying to export a sequence from CS6 for Smoke on Mac.
The problem has been the paths to where the media is located is incorrect. It is point to the folder where the audio is for that clip and not the video.
When I check the metadata tab, it all looks fine there.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

I had the exact same problem with Premiere Pro CS6 (running in 30 days trail mode), but on a Macbook Pro (64bit kernel, 8GB mem, 2010 Macbook Pro,  Mac OS X Lion). See http://forums.adobe.com/message/4380045

  • How to export a sequence as an AAF without media and then relink in Avid

Just in case it helps anyone else sharing material Avid ←→ PPro....
If I export a sequence as an AAF then it expects me to want to include the media, whereas I don't want to duplicate media.
If I put the AAF in a bin - with a piece of media (I used black) - then it will export just the AAF without media.
Importing this to Avid results in Media Offline - and I could not get normal relinking to find the media (is it possible?).
However using this as a guide I found that I could get the media to relink, having imported the AAF to Avid (and ignored the warnings):
    1. AMA link to all the media that is in your Pr sequence in a fresh Avid bin (you'll need to know where that media is)
    2. Select all the clips in that bin
    3. Go to the offline sequence, right click and select relink
4a. Select radio button that says 'Relink selected items to selected items in all open bins'
4b. Under 'relink by' select 'start' and 'name', check 'ignore extension'
It does require that you haven't renamed any of the clips in your premiere project - that the clip names match the file names.
(In FCP7 there was an option to rename clips to match files OR rename files to match clips.)

There is one drawback to the Copy/New from Clipboard method. It does not pick up all the elements of the chart. It doesn't give you the axis titles, legend, or chart name.
    I do this:
    1) Print using the Open PDF in Preview setting
    2) In Preview, select the chart and whatever surrounding area you want to have with it.
    3) Copy
    4) New from Clipboard
    5) Save in the desired format.
You can often skip steps 4&5 and paste directly into another document if that is where it is headed.

  • T.V. Station and FCP bin export = native QT file?

I've got a few hundred short (15-20 second) bloopers on DVC-Pro that a local T.V. Station will be re-digitizing for me - into uncompressed QT - for me to work with at home.
I didn't want to have to throw ALL these clips into a time line just to have to export -each one- into an uncompressed QT movie.
The Tech said that we could export - right from the bins (after digitizing) and that the clips would all be in a NATIVE? QT format. I explained that my editing programs at home - are running QT 6.5 - and asked him if it would it accept this format . . . he said yes ???
Question: Is this correct? Can we export straight from the bin, and is this media type a QT file I will be able to open, or is it a FCP media type?????
I have to add a Title, and a Logo to each clip before I can display them on the internet - and since all of the programs I purchased (AE, etc.) are Mac OS 9 -
am I screwed - and have to purchase $1,000 new A.E. to be able to work with them?
I do own a new Mac Min, with Leopard - so I have the computer ability - but would just like to be able to use the clips - with the programs and OS that is currently working well.
Really appreciate any help or knowledge that you could share.
    Thank you
    Luke Wonderly
    at videodance-cm

I understand how to get them into their system now . .
Luke, I am glad that you understand because my head is spinning just trying to figure out what you want to do. How are you going to get them into their system? What program are they going to use?
There isn't going to be a problem if they export to a QT file - IS THERE?
I mean QT is QT weather made on windows or Mac - right????
Well there may be. Like I said earlier QT is just a wrapper, the codec is what you have to be concerned with. You keep throwing around the term uncompressed, but I don't think that you know what you mean by that. Uncompressed is for working with an analog format like Digibeta. DVCPro is a digital format that can be easily captured in its native form. In FCP you do this by setting your capture settings to DV/DVCPro. But you haven't said what they will use to capture this footage so it's hard to say if it will work.
I wish one of you guys knew a cool trick to get them to export as a 6.5 edition of QT - but they're currently at 7. something
Third time, being a QT file is not the issue, versions have nothing to do with it. Codec is king. I can export a QT file from FCP in 100 different ways and only a few of them can be transferred to another computer (w/o FCP on it) and play. You must know what codec you need them saved as. Think of QT as the foil wrapper on the candy bar. If you have 3 different candy bars and they all have gold foil wrappers are they the same, or is one milk chocolate, one dark chocolate and one with almonds? Yet they all look the same.
    Luke, here is your homework.
    1. Find out what the TV station is going to use to capture the tapes.
    2. Use Google and wikipedia to learn about codecs.
    3. Post your complete system specs, drives, and software versions.
Only after you do this can we help. (and even then I am thinking that it is hopeless.)
    Good Luck.

  • Where I find this audio-export-format? AAF embedded, with 75fr handles

    Hi!
I have a problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC (I have the trial version). I need to export a project in this specific format:
audio: AAF embedded, with 75fr handles
    video: H264, 720p
It's not a problem to find H26, 720p, but I can't find the AAF embedded, 75 fr handles for audio (I can only find AAC).
    Can anybody please help me?

  • Premiere Pro 6 AAF export variable rate error. Why?

    Hello,
I'm trying to export an AAF out of Premiere Pro 6 and it says variable rate error.
I've been scouring to try and find a reason for this error and so far no luck.
The footage in the timeline is REDEpic footage. The framerate is 23.976.
Many of the clips have timewarps/timeremapping on them.
I did not build the project, so please be aware of my ignorance about this Premiere Pro file.
I'm only trying to get the AAF to conform elsewhere. How do I fix this or what is the problem?
    Thank you for your help.

    This might be relevant:
    Exporting AAF files
    (Excerpt):
"The plug-in converts video clip speed changes (slow, fast,
reverse playback) to the Avid Media Composer Motion Effect,
which is the only supported effect."
If you aren't conforming in Avid, here's a time-consuming workaround:
Export all of the timewarp / time remap clips from Premiere to
lossless digital intermediate (DI) files, then use them to replace
the original clips in a duplicate Timeline before exporting your AAF.

  • AAF export from FCP5

Has anyone found a way to export AAF files with FCP5? Automatic Duck used to be able to handle OMF exporting, but they don't support multiclips.
I'm looking for a reliable way to export sound info. from FCP to Pro Tools, and retain volume information.
    Cheers!

can you not just collapse your multiclip before
    exporting with Automatic Duck?
The answer to this question is No. Unfortunatly collapsing multiclips is not sufficient. We hope in the future to support multiclips, it is obviously very important.
