Exporting after editing
how do i after editing my photos can i then add them to a disk or save them on my computer in c drive. i am using the trial version and have edited my photos but it keeps telling me when i try to export them that the original file cannot be found? please help asap
Sounds like you broke the first commandment in Lightroom: Never Delete, Add, Move or Rename a File or a Folder from outside the Lightroom interface.
To build your exported file, Lightroom needs two things, the original file and the instructions for its editing. In your case, the original files are not found where expected by Lightroom so it is unable to edit them. Did you move, delete, rename them without telling Lightroom?
To fix this, you will have to either undo what you did outside of Lightroom, or, use the find missing files procedure to locate missing files and then manually relink them.

You're really going to need to explain that. What's "USB"? Do you mean a Disk, Drive or volume connected by USB? How is your iphoto set up? What version are you using?

If you don't need them at all, you can delete them. People usually store them in external drives if they need them.

After doing some editing in Lightroom I want to continue the edit in CS 5 but Lightroom is not exporting the edited version, this has not happened before, what am I doing wrong please? anybody
You should be getting an error message that PS CS5 requires a higher version of ACR with two options "render using Lightroom" or "open anyway". You should choose the first option. If you are not seeing the error message then go to your Lightroom prefrences >General Tab> under Prompts> select "Reset all warning dialogs", then try the edit in function again.

BUG: LR2.0 shows duplicate drive after edit in photoshop export
Lightroom 2.0 shows a new duplicate drive after edit in photoshop export. file opens as DNG in photoshop, saves as PSD, and saves to the right folder on the hard drive. But lightroom now shows 2 "drive G"'s(that's my image vault drive letter) The folders are correct, the second drive only contains the edited psd files. display in explorer shows the file in the right location with the original DNG file. This is a random event not every edited file displays under the second drive. I have a total of 6 files (I had more, but I moved my image vault to a new drive and fixed the ten I had at that time.)

photoshop CS3No I had to do it manually. When I had lightroom 2, here's what would happen.
1. My external drive would show up, but all the photos would be marked as missing.
2. I would then relocate the photos, which I had do do directory by directory. At this time I did not have all of them under a master directory.
3. As I relocated them, the second drive would show up, which would contain all my directories as I located them.
4. After I had relocated all the directories, I would delete the now empty duplicate - which has been the original - drive.
5. After I shut down LR and restarted, the whole process would begin again.
6. After I installed 2.1, I put all my directories under a parent directory, relocated the parent, it found all the files, automatically deleted the ghost duplicate, and I have not had the problem since.

Exporting photos after editing? - Help please!
Hi all, first post and all that...
I've recently started using lightroom 3, but i'm having trouble exporting my edited files.
I've added the files to lightroom from their original location on my external hard drive, made neccesary adjustments, but i can't seem to then get copies of my edited photos. I want to send them to someone, but when i go through the exporting process to a file on my desktop, they come out in their original unedited format. I've worked out how to export to facebook/flickr, but they lose their size and quality this way.
I'm sure this is a really simple question, so apologies, but if anyone could talk me through how i can duplicate and export my edited photos from lightroom to my desktop, that would be amazing!Highlight the images you wish to export.
Ctrl-Shift-E to open the export dialog.
Change the top drop-down list to Hard Drive.
Choose a location for the files in the Export Location section.
Adjust file naming if necessary.
In the File Settings section make sure you have the correct output format selected and choose a quality (85 is fine for most things and keeps file size manageable).
Make file size changes as appropriate in the Image Sizing section.
If you are downsizing a lot then consider adding some output sharpening.
Click Export.

With the new upgrade - Photos - I can't figure out how to rename my edited photos to export. The space is either grayed out or does not give me the option. I spent 30 minutes at the Apple store One-to-One and he couldn't figure it out either. With both my computer and his. He said he couldn't change the description or tag faces. Please tell me step by step how to do this. I cannot post my photos to my blog or Facebook or Pinterest. Thank you very much!

Which preset are you using for the export? And which naming scheme do you want?
When you export an edited version as JPEG, you should see these choices:
If you use the option "Use Title", you can change the title before you export the the filename you want to use for the version.
With "Sequential" you can enter a prefix and Photos will add a number.
If all fails, export to a folder on your Desktop and rename the exported files manually. -
How can I export an edited image to a file?
I can't seem to find a way in iPhoto 09 do this. Can I export an edited image to a file, keeping the edits intact, or do I have to use a 3rd party editing app when I edit from inside iPhoto 09?
I would prefer to use iPhoto's editing tools so should I import previously cropped images into iPhoto? If yes, what file should I use? I was wondering if anyone does this on a regular basis and if there issues doing this.
I like the editing tools in iPhoto very much. In other apps I have always cropped, resized, corrected levels and a bit of color. I am not a power user by any means and I am close to doing this all in iPhoto if I could only export the edited image to a file.
The reason I want to do this is because the printing portion of my work flow is to upload files to my merchant who prints them and are ready for nearby pickup within an hour. This is all done at a very reasonable price and the color accuracy is very close.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.
This is also true for emailing with Web-based services. However, if you're using Gmail you can use iPhoto2GMail
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.
*If you want to access the files with iPhoto not running*:
Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser

1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

It's rather more complicated that this.
iPhoto is a lossless editor. You don't lose any quality on your shot in iPhoto.
The file size you see reported is the size of your iPhoto Preview: this is what gets used if you access the data via a media browser. It's a "good-enough-for-most-uses" version of the shot. Email it, upload to websites, use it in Presentation, Word processing file etc
If you want to set the quality yourself then Export the photo using the File -> Export command.
You can choose to export to Jpeg, Tiff or png. Tiff is lossless but the file sizes are up to 10 times larger. Jpeg allows you to choose different qualities: High, Medium or low. The difference is the amount of compression involved. High quality means very little compression. It's not unusual for photos exported at this setting to have a larger file size than the original.
Which setting you choose depends on the use you intend. Further editing, printing then high is important. Sending to Facebook? Well low will do just fine there as they're going to trash the file anyway.
But the key point: the file size only becomes an issue when you export.

what type of file format should be save and what to do after that?In the early days of digital video editing, an export render could take hours! Not many applications are as hard on system resources as video editing, and rendering the final edit is probably the most system intense action of all.

How to remove 3:2 pulldown properly from 24p SD 16:9 NTSC footage (After Editing)
Hi,
I'm currently editing a full length feature film and originally imported all the footage directly into final cut making the timeline become a 29.97 timeline, when the pulldown should have been removed before the fact. After much research I know that you can properly remove the 3:2 pulldown from the 24p footage after editing and can be done in compressor. I've tried a number of different compressions and seem to have the dimensions correct which is good. But the 16:9 footage when brought into iDVD or dvd studio pro it seems to want to make the footage 4:3 which is quite confusing and frustrating. I need to be able to get my compression settings correct so that i'm able to put this on a dvd properly. I originally exported the footage from final cut as DV/NTSC and made sure it was 16:9 coming out of final cut. The resolution is 720x480 but comes out as 853x480 as its dimensions and has a squeezed look to the video as it did on its timeline unless the preserve aspect ratio button was unchecked. The only way around getting the squeezed look to go away is to go through compressor and make sure that letterbox is turned off so that its a full screen. Even though its a large file size I compressed using apple pro res to get the best resolution I could, but I need the best results with the lowest file size since the running time is roughly 1:43:00. The footage looks good coming out of compressor, but for some reason even though its full screen 16:9 everytime it is brought into iDVD or dvd studio pro it wants to make it 4:3? what is the reason for this! I recently read an article on this problem and the reverse telecine option within compressor is used to remove the extra frames that final cut adds, and makes the video of better quality relieving the horizontal lines that are caused by the extra frames. I need help on this and I know it can be done because people have proof that it works but I can't seem to reach a solution myself. I have not been doing exactly this, but I have been going the other way, to produce letterboxed 4:3 footage from 16:9 HDV.
I found, when dropping the clip in, FCP automatically set a scale and distort, to correct for the differnce in aspect ratio - does it do this for you for 4:3 SD on a 16:9 SD timeline ?
Remember, you have to re-open a clip, from the sequence timeline, to see its motion settings in that timeline - I keep forgetting this, drop a clip on, then wonder why nothing I change on the clip happens in the sequence!
Regarding the final output, it all sounds fine, except for the possibility of the 4:3 TV output - the 16:9 footage would be okay letterboxed, but the original 4:3 footage would be better 1:1 - if you had to pillar box the 4:3 in the 16:9 (probably what FCP would do by default) and then letterboxed that when making the 4:3, you'll end up with a box in box, plus interlacing problems from the rescale.
I would consider making a second 4:3 sequence, once you have finished the edit on 16:9, try copying all the 16:9 edits (Cmd-A, Cmd-C) and pasting them into the new 4:3 (Cmd-V) - then its a case of leaving the 16:9 letter boxed, or zooming and panning it for 4:3, and removing the scale / aspect from the 4:3 sequences alltogether, so they play normally.

Premiere and Media Encoder will will no longer export my edit to any file format.
This is on a Windows 8.1 PC.
The edit exported fine until I made one big mistake.
I created a Nested Edit to make a quick alteration.
Since then the following is now the case and I cannot go back to an earlier edit to fix this.
Premiere and Media Encoder will will no longer export my edit to any file format. Using either the Export Option or Media Encoder. Get a dialog that says "Unknown Error Compiling Movie"
There is nothing wrong with my footage. This edit worked fine and I export through Media Encoder many times until I made a Nested Edit within the Premiere Project.
I have tried all sorts of searches on the net for a fix to this but nothing seems to be current or indeed works.
Any help would be appreciated as this is a show stopper.Thanks for the reply Mark, appreciated.
I have found a work around but it still leaves a long term issue for Adobe to fix.
As to your first solution:
1). The nested edit is already in its own timeline panel. It will not export or encode via media encoder. This is the problem.
2). I will try the KEM roll feature but I have a work around see following.
3). No I do not have a nested edit within a nested edit.
I did a lot of research on the net on this issue as it happened to a colleague of mine on his machine about two weeks ago. It took me six hours to get a fix and in his case there were six video clip that had read errors. When I overwrote those clips from the original backup master it fixed the problem. However I was never able to use Media Encoder again to export his project without it failing. I could only use the Export feature. Again he had used a nested edit in his project.
I my case I do not have any nested edits within a nested edit. All I did was drag my main edit onto the New Sequence icon at the bottom of the Project Bin. This of course created a nested edit in a new Timeline Panel which is what I wanted. I then slid the entire nested edit to the right in the timeline by two seconds as all a wanted to do was add two seconds of black at the head of the edit. That was it. From that point of creating the nested edit Media Encoder and the Export option failed every time with the fore mentioned error.
The final work around was one of those I found previous mention of during my research. I created a new clean Premiere Pro CC 2014 project, I then used the import option under the file menu. I imported only the original main edit which brought in that edit along with all the required footage. This would then export to disk using the Export feature. However, Media Encoder will still not encode this new edit, it fails the same way every time, 'Unknown Error Compiling Movie'.
As a test I loaded the old corrupt edit project back up and deleted the nested edit sequence completely and re-saved it. This had no effect and did not fix the problem. This particular project file will no longer export directly or via media encoder at all no matter what I do.
This seems pretty serious to me. I worked on this edit for a whole month without issue, encoding out roughs as a went without any issue, it was only yesterday after I made the nested edit that the project file is now useless as it will not encode out at all. Yes I have a work around and was able to salvage my project and get it rendered in time for my deadline but the fact I have a partially working Project that Media Encoder will not touch does not instill me with confidence for long term use of Premiere Pro if this is going to happen again.
Is there some place I can send this project file to Adobe to see if they can find out what is wrong with it? I am not the only person having this issue I have seen other post going all the way back through CS6 it seems. -

For work there's a secure and encrptyed form. I want to write in the form and save it so it will be unfillable / uneditable.
this form is not created by myself, and already secure and encrypted.
I am aware that in other recent adobe pro versions on how to do this, since they have a " save as a copy" function in the file menu. (adobe 8 doesnt have)
I've also tried printing as a PDF, but due to encryption of the form, that doesn't come out great.
Upgrading to a recent version of adobe pro is not an option.
I've also tried exporting as a picture files and then recombinding them to a pdf. I dont like this method and find it time consuming.
If possible please inform me of a way to solve this problem , step by step with adobe pro 8's features.
or
show me the equivalent method to how recent versions "save a copy" of a secure encrypted form on adobe pro 8.

EDIT: I just tested , with a PDF is in secure mode, even using a "save a copy" feature wouldn't work.
Would finding a program to desecure the pdf be a possible option?
Or is there a way to copy the form (with all it's editable fields) and paste it as an unsecure pdf?
You would then be able to make new security features.
