Exporting .ai, .eps o .pdf included file are invisible

Hello
using InDesign CS6 on Mac 10.6.8
I have imported in a file a few very simple .ai, .pdf and .eps vectorial files created with Illustrator CS6.
Exporting as .pdf or .jpg the vectorial images are not visible.

Are they visible in ID if you turn on Preview or Overprint Preview?

  • LabView 2010 Application Builder for EXE Always Included files are not Included

In LabVIEW 2010 F2, When I am using the Application Builder to build an EXE file, I have listed 10 or so files to Be "Always Included". But when I Explore the directory where the EXE was built, those "Always Included" files are not there or in any subdirectory under the EXE file.
This frequently makes my EXE file not work properly because important files are missing. I have to spend extra debugging time to find out the the cause of my problem is missing files that the Application Builder should have transferred "Always".
Why did the Application Builder, when building an EXE target, not include the files that should be "Always Included"?
Why does the Application Builder ignore these files specifications?

    Dennis Knutson wrote:
The build does include files you select. Post an example project with a small VI and some separate files where this does not happen.
No, it does not appear that all of the files that I listed in the "Always Include" list are copied during the Build process to the Build directory or any subdirectory under that.
The Build Source Files.jpg file shows most of the list of the files that should be "Always Included". Notice the .VI and .ctl files that are listed
The Build Directory.jpg file shows the file in the Build directory that were built.
The Data Directory.jpg file shows the data directory under the Build directory and may include some of the files listed in the "Always Include", but not all of them.
The other subdirectories under the Build directory were created by me and do not include any files that were copied during the Build process.
So not ALL of the files that were included in the "Always Include" list were copied into the Build directory area as expected. ALL of the files that are listed as "Always Include" should be copied, if they exist. Those files existed when then were selected for the List and they existed at the time of the Build.
I can not include an example project that demonstrates this. I am prevented from doing so by the terms of an NDA. You are going to have to take my word that this event is real and happens the same way every time. This information should be sufficient for someone to investigate why do not ALL of the files listed in the "Always Include" list are copied into the Build directory area regardless of the file type or contents.

  • After a backup all music files are invisible and iTunes don't see anything

    Hi,
I got a very strange problem and I'm really lost.
I made a backup of my portable iTunes libray (using a 160 GB Maxtor one touch 4 mini usb) on another backup disk (750 GB Maxtor onetouch III firwire 800). I have my library on a external disk to safe disk space on my MacBook Pro disk. For the back up I use the software Personal Backu4 of Intego Software. The 160GB iTunes disk is Formatted als Mac OS Extended format.
Now all back up data that aren't music files (AAC or MP3 files) was correctly back up, but all music files was like deleted, all artist > album folders looks empty. But, cheking with the disk utility it looks that all files exist and the Used space (36.06 GB) looks correctly and the numbers of files too (some 5942 files). But all files are invisible, folders looks empty. Now is looks that all purchased and CD imported int my library didn't exist anymore: and this in BOTH disks, side by side is the same situation.
How I can come out from this situation, I really don't have any idea how to coming out fron this sad situation.
Hany help is really appreciated. Thanks in advance!

OK, here's what REALLY doesn't make sense.
After manually fixing a lost file, NOTHING in the XML changes. Not one single character changes in the XML file. I diff'd the whole file before and after - no difference. So, basically, it goes out and 'finds' it and updates something that we can't see to repair the connection, meanwhile we are left to think that this XML file has the library data in it.
Mind you, the media file(s) are present and accounted for in the file system - correct name and path and everything - before and after I go Locate the file when iTunes complains about it being missing..
iTunes is so overbloated, we can't even fix stuff when we see precisely how it is broken.

  • Music files are invisible

I was moving some music files the other day to categorize them within MY MUSIC folder. Then yesterday, I was trying to add some files from my ITunes to a flash drive and some of these files are now invisible. I don't know what I did wrong. I also did a Disk Utility Verify and Repair. Did that have something to do with my files becoming invisible? I don't have a clue how many of these music files are invisible. But I've noticed its a lot of them. How do I find these INVISIBLE files and make them VISIBLE again so I can copy them to the flash drive? They play just fine from the Source or from ITunes.. Please help.

OK. I've never seen files or folders disappear on their own. Here's what I suggest. While booted into the new account, copy your other account's folder to another volume (disk or partition), launch System Preferences->Accounts, delete the bad account, selecting the *save data option* (which stores the data in /Users/Deleted Users/ as a disk image), recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files or recovering missing/lost/hidden files is a laborious process. Good luck.

  • I just downloaded the new itunes update, now I can't copying TV shows purchased from the library to my backup computer, it says the files are invisible. Never had any problem doing it until the update.

  • Export to eps or pdf - strokes change to filled paths

I'm probably missing something basic here but I seem to have a problem that happens intermittently. When I export an indesign document that contains strokes as an eps or pdf then open it up in Illustrator, my strokes have changed to filled paths. How do I stop it converting them? I've tried various flattening options but it hasn't worked... (The indesign file contains placed Illustrator eps files with die lines and it seems to happen with the complicated lines). Thankyou

    Dsl0028 wrote:
Sorry the story gets longer - The placed files are usually supplied as pdfs which I amend and resave as Illustrator CS5 eps so the strokes are correct there. Those files are stepped in Indesign and exported as an eps and pdf again for printing purposes.
As John says, Illustrator is not a general purpose PDF editor and can only be relied upon to accurately edit PDF created in Illustrator. In Addition, is there some specific reason for saving as EPS? ID is perfectly capable of placing native .ai and PDF files, and many problems that seem to have no other cause disappear when .eps files are resaved in another format.
If you have to continue with this questionable workflow, keep in mind that what yoou are describing, converting strokes to filled paths, sounds like part of a transparency flattening process and is far more likely to occur when exporting to .eps which doesn't support transparency and always is flattened. Export to PDF with Acrobat 1.4 compatibility or higher may work better, but there's no guarantee it will open properly in Illustrator.

  • Files are invisible

Ok...I have an external FireWire Drive that I used to unarchive a .rar file. The files are there, but I cannot see them. I used OmniDiskSweeper to check the folder and the files that I can't see all start with .filename
How do I remove the . so I can see these files? What does that . mean and why does it hide files?
    Thanks

Files with a name starting with a period are invisible in the Finder, as it is an UNIX custom. You can enter the following command in the Terminal to make all files visible in the Finder:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles 1
Alternatively, this AppleScript will remove the period from the front of all files in a given folder:
    set my_path to "~/Desktop/123/"
    do shell script "ls -a " & my_path
set the_files to every paragraph of the result
set the_files to rest of the rest of the_files
    repeat with this_file in the_files
if this_file begins with "." then
set new_name to items 2 thru (count this_file) of this_file
    do shell script "mv " & my_path & this_file & " " & my_path & new_name
    end if
    end repeat
In either case, you may not be able to see the files in the Finder until you log out and back in.

  • Files are invisible in folder even I know they are there.

What's the reason for this: I create JPG file from RAW file in certain folder. I can't see the files on disk with any application but I can not create the files again as the application says the files are already there? Also in files listing of "yesterday" I can see them. Also in conversion application in destination folder I can see there are both RAW and JPG files. I am using Canon Photo Professional software for conversion.

If they are there, EasyFind should show them.

  • Indesign getting crash while exporting because of bad pdf inside file.

    Hi,
My indesing is getting crash while exporting to pdf. I have link to pdf file inside the indesign file, when i export that indesign file to pdf indesign is getting crash without showing any error message. If i place another pdf file in same location then it is going fine and i can able to get the output pdf file. Please suggest me how can i check and correct that pdf file and is there any solution to this. Please help me i have thousands of indesign pages with the same issue. If you want pdf i can send it to your mail id. please i need fix for this problem.
    Thanks
    Kiran

For all of you lurkers, Kiran sent me a copy of the PDF, and it looks like I found the problem (and learned a new technique which may help others in the same boat).
I tried re-frying the file by creating an eps and distilling, but the result was the same, then I tried exporting from CS3, just for fun, and it worked, but I realized the PDF had been cropped, so I started trying differnt sections and isolated an area that failed, though that wasn't particularly helpful.
Acrobat preflight didn't find anything that looked odd or problematic, and then I decided to run Examine Document. It came up with MetaData (no surprise) and also two items under a heading of Deleted and Cropped objects, with no preview or description. I unselected the MetaData from the list of found stuff, them clicked the Remove button in the Examine Document panel, and resaved (and while you have the opportunity to give it a new name, doing so doesn't remove the stuff untill you do the whole procedure again and save with the same name). Placed the new version of the PDF in a new file and exported no problem.

  • Spot color changes to white when exporting to eps or pdf

It looked like part of the logo was disappearing, but discovered it was changing to white.
Changing to cmyk meant it couldn't then be adjusted in the Ricoh.
I did finally bring in a new pantone color, and changed the cmyk values, keeping it as a spot.
But WHY did this happen in the first place? It was an old file we'd used many times before.

Name of the color should not be a problem, you would get an error if you used an offending name.
If this shape on a layer set to this
And if your settings for print are NOT visible & PRINTABLE, then what you described would happen, even when saving a .pdf or .eps.
Also let us know where you are not seeing your orange, in acrobat or where? Your seps preview set as below would cause what you described.

  • After importing a Light Room catalog, the files I export, export smaller than the originals - with every option of file ending.  I want to export them as DNGs but the files are reduced from around 5000 pixels to about 1700 pixels in length.

Hi All ~ Thanks in advance for your help!
I have been on a support chat with Adobe for 2 hours now and they can't figure this out but hopefully one of you can!
I exported my files as a LightRoom Catalog
I zipped the catalog and the smart previews together
I sent the zipped folder via Dropbox to a photo editor
    Editor edited the photos
Editor exported the files as a Lightroom Catalog and zipped them
Editor sent the LR Catalog back to me via Dropbox
I opened the Lightroom Catalog in LR (the pixel dimensions are the same as the originals)
I exported the photos as DNG's (which does not allow for any file size changes - I also tried JPGs and the same thing happened)
Camera Raw 7.1 and later (I tried them all just to see - and they all rendered the same result)
Embed Fast Load Data (checked on)
Embed Original Raw File (check on)
I checked the Pixel dimensions on my exported photos and they are smaller
    The original pixel dimensions are:
4912x7360 and the new size (after exporting) is: 1709x2560
But here's the real kicker!  WHEN I UPLOAD A PHOTO TO LIGHTROOM FROM MY COMPUTER DIRECTLY (not from a LR catalog), AND EXPORT THAT FILE, IT EXPORTS AT FULL SIZE with no change in the pixels dimensions!

  • Exported Files Are "Invisible" on Network Attached Storage!!??

When exporting jpgs from Lightroom, the files don't show up on my new server! If I search for them, then they do show, but they're "invisible." I can't run my business this way (or copying gigs of files from desktop to server just to get around this problem), and come to find out (after 3 hours of tech support) Adobe products and servers "just don't get along."
Wow. I REALLY don't want to go back to daisy-chained drives....
Does anyone know how to get around this? Is there some fix???
    Here's me:
LR catalog locally on iMac (intel)
images located on the Buffalo Terastation Live 4tb NAS
Same results with both LR 1.4 and 2.0 Beta
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Could, but that involves an extra step, extra wait time when copying over entire shoots of 4+gb, then we end up with folders all over the place and never know which version is the newest. Using a server seems to be the most efficient and reliable (with RAID 5) way for workflow.
I'm a professional photographer with a small production staff, so we're constantly working on the files. As of right this second, I've got nearly 1 TB of images I need onsite, and we're entering into busy season, so no doubt there will be another 500 gb by the end of summer, so I need lots of space. Daisy chaining has lost its luster- my office is a disaster area of power cords as it is so I need to keep that to a minimum. Unfortunately, I bought my iMac and MacBook Pro over a year ago, so neither have the new FW 800, but I can buy adapters that convert to 400.
Was researching the Synology DS508 and CS407 and then filling them with Seagate Barracuda 1tb drives this morning, they boast compatibility with Macs so that might be worth a try!

  • IPhoto 08 files are invisible to everything but iPhoto

I am having a tough time figuring out where my photos are located in iPhoto.  I am on an 08 version and using LR5.  Any help would be appreciated.

From finder you need to be in Pictures (not the application) and control- click on iPhoto Library.
Older versions of iPhoto uses an Originals folder and in later versions; Masters. It’s not a good idea to go messing with the structure as it could corrupt the iPhoto Library. Apple has made this structure for good reason; so that you can always use the revert command to go back to an original, even if you have edited in iPhoto using cropping or red eye removal, for example.
However, if you have no further use for iPhoto, you could consider moving your originals/masters to a new folder structure (iPhoto automatically creates dated sub-folders) and then importing to Lightroom. Alternatively if you still need iPhoto, export duplicates to the desktop and bring those into Lightroom. That will keep iPhoto safe.
I do actually use iPhoto for creating events which can then be used to make cool slideshows within iPhoto. However Lightroom is my main management and photo editing tool and I have created an export pre-set for sending jpegs into iPhoto. I have even dragged the iPhoto Library off the hard drive to an external hard drive - but that means keeping it connected when using iPhoto.

  • Files are Invisible in itunes 9.01

I have itunes 9.01. I have noticed that several albums (all imported by myself) are no longer available. When I track down the file folder, they "appear" empty.
When I take the song from my backup file (so yes, at one time they all did work with itunes before) and try and copy, it says that the file already exists (even though the folder appears empty, and the finder says it's empty with the info button). If I say yes, go ahead and overwrite the file, you see it appear, then disappear almost immediately.
So, I've had these songs before, and they worked.
With itunes 9.01 they are no longer available.
The seem to be invisible, and the finder won't let me copy them over from my backup files.
Any help as to what is going on??? I am ready to upgrade to Snow Leopard, but I am nervous with this thing acting up.
    Thanks
