Exporting an animated GIF

Does anyone know whether it's possible to export an animated GIF from FCP? The only methods I've seen described involve using three programs I don't have - AE, Graphics Converter or ImageReady.

I don't know if there is a way to do it with just FCP.
Have you tried GIFBuilder? I heard it works very well.

How do I export an animated GIF from Premiere CC?
I dont see an Animated codec option

    Hi Nick
    Believe me I STARTED there.
I wouldnt post this message if I didnt try there first.
I do not see Animated GIF as a codec option.
Please walk me through the step by step process of how you got this.
Because it is not as obvious as you're making it out to be.
Further more perhaps a certain format has to be selected for Animated GIF options to appear?
YES I AM ON CC version too. thanks!

  • Edge Animate export to animated .gif?

Hi everyone, I just started using Edge Animate and have completed my project. My final deliverable I am looking for is an animated gif with everything contained in it.  Can Edge do this? I think I will blow the mind of my vendor if I try to send them an HTML file, Javascript and the images all separately.  Is there a way to export just one file?  If not, can I import my Edge Animate file into another Adobe application where I could do so?  Thank you.

There really is no "single file" solution with HTML, none that would be easy anyways. The HTML page is an aggregate of images, libraries, fonts, etc and due to the nature of the format I don't think you'll find the one-off package you're looking for. Even if you were to embed in say Dreamweaver or Muse the output would still be multiple files.
IMO I think your best solution would be to upload somewhere and share a link
    Cheers,

  • Flash CS4 crashes when exporting to animated .GIF!!!!

I am running Snow Leopard and Flash CS4 10.0.2.  Everytime I try to export to an animated GIF flash will crash.  I can export to .swf, html, and a static .gif just fine.  As soon as I check that animated box and hit publish, it crashes.  This is annoying and ridiculous.  Is this an issue with Flash?
At first I thought it was due to the fact that I was using actionscript for my animation.  I figured the .gif didn't support that so I got rid of it, still crashed.  Even just made a very simple text animation and it still would crash.  This is unacceptable.
Anyone know a good SWF - animated GIF converter in the meantime?

Honestly, I am really astonished that CS4 runs under Windows 8 at all. You should get your hands on a trial version of flash cc and test if you are encountering the same problems:
if yes: then it must be related to your soundsystem (audio drivers/soundcard) or the files you try to import are non-standard/demolished
if no (flas cc imports your files but not CS4) then I would advise moving on to a specialized Windows 8.1 forum

  • How do I hide the mask layer when exporting as animated GIF ?

    Hi,
I have designed the following logo for my football team's website.
It plays fine as a flash file but when I export it as an animated GIF file, it shows the bright pink mask layer. Obviously I don't want it to. Has anybody an idea of how to rectify this problem ?
    Thanks,
    Phil

    Peter,
Success! I finally got my head round it Indeed, I can see now your point about the export method being preferable, it's also much quicker than my old "print PDF" method! Like I say, publishing isn't my area of expertise and I get comfortable and set in my ways with certain ways of doing things, especially with computers!
    Bob,
Like I was saying to Peter, that makes sense now. I guess my not appreciating the process of PDF creation and thus my incorrect use of the terminology may have confused the issue. With regards the link you sent me, wow it certainly seems I'm not the only one who gets confused! Fortunately it seems my problem is now solved and I have learned to produce a better product!
    Thanks again guys!
....now I wonder how I can make my dissertation interactive....

  • CS4 Export Movie animated gifs

I tried using this feature in CS3 and no matter what setting I tried the animation looked horrible. I have been using CS4 so I can get used to it and I have to say that the new animation techniques really make a big difference. One of the features I thought I would try is the export movie to an animated gif. Without even looking at the settings I did the export and opened the .gif in Firefox and I as amazed to see that it looks so much better in CS4 than CS3 ever did. I guess this must have been a big complaint cause as a designer who does alot of banners I need to do back up animated.gifs in some instances and if you know Macs there is no app to do this so when I needed to I would copy the swfs to a thumb drive and do the conversion from swf to animated gif on my pc.

I searched the CS5 user guide PDF, and find that animated gif is a support INPUT format, but find NO mention of that being an export format
The tutorial list in message #3 http://forums.adobe.com/message/2276578 has a link to download the current PDF for easy searching, since I don't know if CC adds that for export

  • How to increase the quality when exporting an animated gif

I'm using a very simple animation, with just 2 sentences been animated, the rest are static images. This is 250 x 250 banner and my requirements are, 50kb max, 30 seconds or shorter and 5fps, when saving as a gif, the quality I'm getting is really poor, is there a way to increase the quality and keeping the same requirements at the same time?
    Thanks,
    Trish

No, not the way you have animated it. You are working against the limitations of the format and doing everything "wrong" one possibly could.
    a) You are using a photo to begin with
    b) You animate opacities
    c) You move stuff
All of this will quickly exhaust the max. 256 global colors and change the dithering patterns with every frame. Unless you can come up with a more suitable design, you will have to live with the quality as it is. It's inherent in the format's limitations.

  • Does animated .gif export support animation of library symbols?

I'm currently using the 30-day free trial of Adobe Flash Professional CC. I was really pleased to see how easily you could export animations in animated .gif format, seemed to run without a hitch.
One thing I noticed while using Flash is that instances of symbols placed into a scene don't actually animate when you use the "Play" function -- that is to say, when you press Enter and the playhead starts moving along the timeline from its current position. They remain at the very first frame of their respective animations. In order to show the proper animations of symbols, you have to use the Test function (CTRL - Enter) to actually compile a working .swf of the thing.
This wasn't much of an issue until I tried to export in .gif format and I got this same issue. Instances of symbols don't animate, they only seem to work in compiled .swf's.
FileDropper link to the working file I'm using: http://www.filedropper.com/flashbottle
    Result .gif: http://i.imgur.com/PZVXST7.gif
Since the use of symbols in the Flash workflow seems to be a rather common occurrence it seems unthinkable that Flash wouldn't support their usage with whatever mechanism they use to export animated .gif's. Is there some sort of silly mistake I'm making or checkbox I need to toggle? Or is the functionality simply not there?

    Thank you for your reply!
I check exported GIFs in various browsers and XnView viewer.
It's definitely not a preview  issue - i have 32Gb of RAM and Nvidia Quadro 4000 GPU on my system.
I believe the issue is with transparency, because i'm able to export GIFs with solid background just fine
GIF export dialogue window has 'Transparency' checkbox, so it looks like it should be possible to export an animated GIF with transparent background, but for some reason i'm getting all frames at the same time
    thank you

  • Animated GIF Export issues

I have a simple Flash animation which I'd like to be made
    into a transparent GIF.
When I do the GIF export, only the first frame of my
movieclips (which are placed in the main timeline) get rendered. It
seems like Flash only records the main timeline preview output into
the GIF file, and does not play movieclip objects. You would expect
the GIF recording to be of the same preview as when you hit
    ctrl+enter (essentially final playback).
Because of this, the GIF export is pointless. The only way to
use it is to have all your animations occur in the main timeline,
and not within movieclips. It doesn't work for me (and for most
people?), because I need to easily scale my animations, which is
doable by just resizing a movieclip.
Is there a way around this in Flash? Am I missing something?
I've had to use a 3rd-party tool (Magic SWF2GIF) to do the
    GIF recording.
My other issue is Flash cannot export transparent GIF's it
seems. Because of this, I have to rely on more 3rd-party GIF tools,
    most of which are rubbish.
In the end, I've had to take snap shots of every individual
frame and edit each frame as individual files in Photoshop to do
all the cropping and transparency just right. Real pain when you
are talking 50 frames, and having to do multiple animations.
Is there a way to export transparent GIF's in Flash?
Seems kind of dumb that I have all this high-end software and
loads of tools... and I still have to edit things frame by
    frame.

    Thank you for your reply!

  • Animated GIF not exporting content as pure white?

When exporting an animated GIF from C6 the whites go from 255 to 251? Anyone have any suggestions to how I can solve this? I don't have problems with this when exporting it as another file type.

If you go to File>Image Preview, there's a drop down menu called "palette". This is probably set to black and white or greyscale. Change it to exact or adaptive.

  • Animated Gif Optimization (exporting)

I'm attempting to export an animated GIF using the Export
Wizard. My problem is that I used high quality pictures and
gradients and now i cannot seem to find an export optimization that
will display these correctly. I tried everything from Adaptive down
to Custom but everything gives me blurred pictured and less than
acceptable results. I'm using Fireworks 8.
If anyone could please help that'd be great! Thanks!

The GIF format, including GIF89a, is designed for flat,
    poster-like
images. It does not compress gradients or Photos very
    successfully.
You'll end up with a better looking animation if you export
    in SWF
format instead of GIF. Click on the Quick Export option menu
    at the top
right of the document window and choose Macromedia Flash >
    Export SWF.
In the Save As dialog box, click on the Options button to
    customize the
    export settings.

  • Animated GIF export issue

Odd new issue surfaced today - frame animation plays fine when played from timeline but all layers are exported stacked on top of each other for the duration of the whole animation.
I'm able to see that because the layers have transparency.
About animation - 8 frames with in endless loop, imported into a timeline via 'Make Frames from Layers' command in a fly-out menu in the Timeliine window.
Tweens for animation are off, 01.sec delay for all frames
I was able to export animated GIF before, wondering if this issue is tied to the latest update.
Anyone else is experiencing this weird issue?

  • Animated Gif - Save for web not showing full frame range

    Hey,
I'm trying to export an animated gif with 52 frames - I'm using the timeline in CS6, it's exported correctly in the past but when I try and save for web only a seemingly arbitrary number of rames appear in the animation. With no clear route to rectify this, I've tried to affect the outcome by simply moving things around on the timeline.
I've had a variety of frame ranges (and frames) numbering between 2 and 6 frames, far off my 52 target. It's a simple image and equally simple transition to keep filesize down but I'm completely bamboozled by this. It looks like a bug but any advice I could get would be much appreciated.

If it worked in the past with CS6 try resetting your CS6 Photoshop Preferences.  If you still have the problem after that.  Up load the PSD file to a server and post a link to it.
