Exporting an iphoto slideshow to play in itunes

I want to export a slideshow from iphoto to itunes so i can sync it with my iphone.
I know it can be done, i did one 6 months ago to put it on my ipod, but i can remember how i did it.
I know it has to be in the .m4v format
please help!

Hey richkyd,
You can export your slideshow from iPhoto as a .Mov file by going to File> Export.
You can also click Share> iDVD. When you share to iDVD, it creates a video file in /Users/your user/Movies
From there you should be able to transfer the video to the iPhone. But, you can convert the video as described in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1211
Highlight the video in iTunes> Advanced> convert for iPhone.

  • Exporting an iphoto slideshow to play in the iphone

Hello - any ideas how i can get a iphoto slideshow exported to play on an iphone.
If you export an iMovie - under the share option there is an export movie option, and then you can choose the iphone format?
    Many thanks

Do you have Quicktime Pro? If you do you can add the movie to the audio track, scaling it to match the track's length, and export for iPhone.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Keynote '08: How to export an iPhoto slideshow into Keynote

Is it possible to export an iphoto slideshow into keynote?
    Thanks!

Answered my own question! Exported iPhoto slideshow to desktop - where it appeared as a .mov file -- then dragged & dropped that into Keynote. It plays there, photos & music exactly as designed in iPhoto - remote works to start and stop also! Perfect!

  • I exported a iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using BURN app, burned to DVD and exported to a USB flashdrive. The DVD looks great but flashdrive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make flashdrive sharper?

I exported an iphoto slideshow to desktop, converted it to mpg file by using the BURN app, burned it to a DVD and exported it to a USB flash drive. The DVD looks great and very sharp but the slideshow on the USB flash drive is extremely fuzzy. What is the difference and how can I make the slideshow on the flash drive look as sharp as the DVD?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • How do I export an iPhoto slideshow from my iMac to my iBook?

How do I export an iPhoto slideshow from my iMac to my iBook?

For the slideshow in the form of an Quicktime movie just export the slideshow via the export button at the bottom of the iPhoto window
and select the size to be created
If you want to have the slideshow in your iBook's iPhoto Library as it is in your iMac's library you'll need to copy the entire library from your iMac to your iBook.
A 3rd option is to export the photos used in the slideshow to a folder on the Desktop, copy that folder to the iBook, import into the iBooks library and recreate the slideshow.

    Hello,
I believe the issue was the external HD I purchased was not formatted for Mac . . . once I took care of that - all went well!  The slide show transferred and the surprise 70th birthday party was a huge sucess.  Thank you everyone!

  • IPhoto slideshow different screensize in iTunes movies

I'm thinking of purchasing AppleTV soon with the intention of showing slideshows on the one eyed monster in the lounge.
With this in mind I've been exporting my slideshows from iPhoto to
    iTunes movies via Movies folder.
The problem is that the screensize of the slideshows are not widescreen when played on my G5 through iTunes (black border down each side).
When exporting from iPhoto I use the large (640x480) movie size, is this correct?
    Any thoughts much appreciated.

You don't need to do this conversion at all. AppleTV can sync with iPhoto and has its own slideshow function, complete with transitions.

  • Exporting to iphoto slideshow to idvd

I created a slideshow in iPhoto with the following conditions:
    120 images
All images were cropped to 4:3 DVD
I have used the "Ken Burns Effect" on all images
I have included audio from iTunes (playlist with 6 songs)
When exporting to iDVD, the process or status meter completes and then I get a message that the export failed.
When trying to save it as a Quicktime Movie (I have the latest updates and also have Quicktime Pro)it does exactly the same thing, it fails.
Is there a limited amount of pictures you can have in a slideshow? The slideshow plays great in iPhoto, but I want the Ken Burns effect to add some professionalism to the slideshow.
I also used iDVD to create the slideshow and I used a theme and it burned perfectly to a DVD, but with iDVD you do not have the option to use the Ken Burns effect.
I can use iMovie, but I am not thrilled about adding 120+ transitions one-at-a-time and redoing the Ken Burns effects.
Thanks for your help, this is for my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary this Saturday (9 Dec) and I hope you can understand my reasoning to get this done soon.

    wolf58:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. There is no limit to the number of slides you can have in an iPhoto slideshow. Try again and then check the Console logs to see what it says about iPhoto or Quicktime and post back. Also how much free space do you have on your boot drive?
I'd doing the same for a memorial service next Saturday and if I have problems with export as you are I'll opt to create the entire slideshow in iDVD. The only downside is that you can't have any KB effect nor more than one type of transition. But you can have titles and subtitles on slides if desired.
One thing to check if you get the export to work is the music sync. There are reports of it not syncing as it should. If you run into that, take the movie file that iPhoto created and saved in your Movies folder and import into iMovie. Select the video track and under the Advanced menu choose the extract audio option. Delete it and add your music again to iMovie and then export to iDVD from iMovie. That will assure good music sync. I plan to not add the music at the iPhoto stage but later in iMovie.
    Do you Twango?

  • I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto.  Every time I try to export to iPhoto slideshow folder, it freezes.  Help!

I've got a new iMac with Mountain Lion OS.  Have created a slideshow complete with music in iPhoto, but every time that I try to export it to an iPhoto slideshow folder, it gets halfway through and freezes.  This has been going on for a couple of days.  I've tried opening iPhoto holding down the option key, but it doesn't make a difference.  Any advice, please?

    Upgrade to v9.4.1 or
Trash the HP Plug in from /Library/Application Support/iPhoto
There are two libraries where this plugin might be
    HD/ Library
    and
    HD/Users/Your Name / Library
(On 10.7 or later: Hold the option (or alt) key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder to access the User Library)

  • Exporting 2 iphoto slideshow to idvd ?

I have created 2 seperate slide shows, with audio, in iphoto. I would like to have
them play back to back using idvd. When I do this, it creates 2 seperate play options. How can I combine the 2 slideshows to play seamlessly?
    Thank you,
    AG

iPhoto makes a QT movie of the slideshow to send to or use in iDVD. Instead of sending to iDVD, save as large movie, 720X 480 - it's the same movie that it makes and sends.
Open one in QT Pro. Then the other in another QT Pro player. Set the playhead in the first one to the end of the clip. Go to the other select all and edit copy. Then go back to the first one and do edit add to movie.
Save the new movie as a self contained QT file, use that in iDVD - it will be one longer movie with both shows.

  • How to export an iPhoto slideshow

Can I export a slideshow made on iPhoto onto a flash drive to play on a Windows computer?

    Yes.
File -> Export and that saves it as a movie file. Then copy that to the flash drive.

  • IPhoto slideshow images play unsharp when burnedI have rece to DVD in iDVD

I have recently created a couple of slide shows in iPhoto where they look great and pin sharp. They still look great after export to iDVD but when they are burned to DVD and played back either on the computer or on the TV DVD player they come through less than pin sharp. In fact they appear distinctly fuzzy. Is this a known issue for which there is a remedy? Perhaps something needs cleaning? Anyone else experiencing this problem?

I am experiencing the same problem with iDVD 8 on OS X 10.5.4 on a Macbook Pro.
F Shippey, can you please clarify? Is higher resolution better or does it really matter? I have tried displaying my images in RAW, PSD, and jpg all with negative results. All of the resolutions have been 3872 x 2592 (approx). All shot were taken with my Nikon D60 10MP camera. I have the project settings at NTSC / best performance / wide screen (have tried standard 4:3).
I have read the iDVD docs and see nothing about image preparation. Any suggestions to improve clarity?
    Thank you in advance,
    Ralph

  • How do I export an iPhoto slideshow to iMovie?

I made a 27 minute long slideshow with music on iPhoto but when I exported it to a Jump Drive, the music skipped and some of the photos got a little hung up as well.  I thought if I could export to iMovie, I may be able to fix the skipping issues. I'm eventually going to need this on the jump drive to bring to a party and have it shown on a large projector screen.  Any help would be appreciated as I'm not that tech savvy.

  • Exporting an iPhoto slideshow

I have about 500 images that I want to put into a slideshow.  However, an MUST-HAVE is that the show randomizes or shuffles the photos. It would appear that the only way to turn on shuffle is when viewing the photos in an album.. the option does not appear to be there when creating a slideshow itself.
So, I can do the slidshow exactly as I want, with shuffle, a theme, and music.. however, I would like to export this, preferably as a movie that can be played on a DVD/TV setup or a Windows PC.
Can this be done, and if so, how?
(I also have Aperture 3, but am not that familiar with it.. if I can do this with Aperture, including the shuffle photos, please let me know.. thanks!
    Paul

Ok, I found an Apple Script that renames all my photos to a random number from 1000 to 9999, and that seemed to make them sort in a random enough sequence for my slideshow needs.
Also found another script that sets a random value in one of the metadata fields of each photograph.. the idea being that I could reorder my photos based on this metadata field.. but I have not used this method.
