Exporting and Updating Movie

Hi there, I've updated a slideshow that I previously created in iPhoto then sent to iDVD to burn a DVD. I'd like to update that exported movie so that I dont need to create an new menu in iDVD as it asks me too when I choose export to iDVD from iPhoto. How can this be done?

No, you can't. But when edited version gets added to a new menu in your iDVD project, click and copy the play button for it (either the text or image depending on what type of buttons you have), go to your existing menu page and paste. Check out the edited version before deleting the new menu page and the old version.
An alternative method to getting the edited slideshow your iDVD project is to export the slideshow as a QT movie. Next create a slideshow in iDVD using the "+" button at the bottom.

Open that slideshow so the organization window is visible and drag the QT movie into it.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

Exporting and importing movies in iPhoto - unrecognised format

I am trying to export just a few movies from iphoto in my user account, to my daughters parental support account on the same mac. (I imported from her camera to my account by mistake and deleted them from her camera, but want them only to be on her account ..... )
It has worked fine for the photos.
I am selecting the movie files. File export, kind original. this exports a .AVI file which i have put in a shared folder. I can reimport these .AVI files into my iphoto but when i fast user switch to her account , open iphoto, and try to import i get an error message saying that the file could not be imported due to an unrecognized format. I have spent ages trying to get this to work, checking file permissions etc, but i cannot get the movies across.
An additional frustration is that if i create a new folder in the shared area, or rexport the files again from my iphoto ( i was trying exporting in all the different kinds to see if that works), then the new files i exported do not show up in either my daughters finder or iphoto files.Why is this? Are they hidden? and if so why do these ones not show but the first ones i exported do show?

AVI is not a native mac video format, and it will depend on the codec used in the AVI, if Quicktime can play it. Do you have additional codecs installed in your account, that are not installed for all users and missing in your daughter's account? For example Perian, or Flip4Mac? Then install these too for your daughters account.

Having problems exporting and updating through the CC updater

So my machine keeps crashing on a simple export for some reason. So I looked online at some solutions and Adobe is saying that I need to change some Preference folder's permissions or whatever. One: There instructions did not work. The folder or file was not in there. Two: Now my apps can't update because it keeps asking me to sign in with my Mac user's password and it won't update now.
Seriously, what is going on? Premiere Pro was working just fine awhile ago. Why this bull right before a big project is due?

Need help in enable import,export and update button in rulesmanager

Dear Team,
I am using SAP Netweaver 7.3 CE.
I have exposed the Decision Table as webservice. I made this on Rule Composer Developement.
Now i want to import and export the decision table from url. like
http://localhost:50000/rulesmanager
I have given all roles/action regarding rules to test user.
But decision table is shown only in read only mode.
How to update decision table run time ?

Dear Ashish Patel,
As far as I know, you can only expose a decision table as a web-service which is created inside a Reusable Ruleset. And RulesManager application only allows editing of Rulesets and Flow Rulesets but Reusable Ruleset is not editable in RulesManager. And hence, you will not be able to edit/export/import the decision table in the Reusable Ruleset.

IPhoto library export and update

I exported my iPhoto library to my Time Capsule a month ago and have since deleted photos on my MacBook Pro and added more photos. I I export my iPhoto library again to time capsule will it delete the photos that where deleted from my laptop? I don't want it to delete the photos I deleted on laptop I just want it to add the new photos. Like everyone else I am trying to make space on my laptop. Also is there a way to export just one event?

A "Time Capsule" is a hardware device that can be useed for several pruposes - are you using it strictlyh as an external hard drive (one potential) or as the backup volume for Time Machine(a software program)
To make space on our laptop you need an external hard drive (not one that is being used for your Time Machine backup volume) that is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) - and then
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive

When exporting/rendering a .mov from both PP and AE the .mov thumbnail is not right

I have recently upgraded to OSX mavericks and updated my AE and PP CS6. When I export/render a movie the videos seem fine but the thumbnails are not a screenshot of the video - which is how I would like it (how it used to be). Instead it is of the quicktime logo just like this - http://embryology.med.unsw.edu.au/embryology/images/8/8c/Quicktime-icon.jpg. Please can anyone tell me how to fix this problem.

I also noticed that rendering from final cut also creates the wrong thumbnails (used to be a screenshot as explained previously)
Exporting from quicktime pro seems fine (thumbnails have screenshot)

These apps cannot be accepted by your Apple ID.
These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID, and they will be available in that Apple ID's Purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the applications.

You need to either delete and buy them, or get whoever holds that Apple ID to tell Apple to release them. On a Mac, deleting the applications won't affect their data, but that should be backed up anyway.

It says "AppleSyncNotifier.exe - Entry Point Not Found". It also says, " The procedure entry point smlTextreaderConstName could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll". I click on OK and it moves on. It doesn't seem to affect my computer, but it's annoying. Any ideas on correcting this?

UPDATE - (Made a second post so it'd be clearer)
I uninstalled Office 2003, then iTunes, then all of the associated software (Mobile Device Support, Apple Update, Quicktime, EVERYTHING)
Reinstalled Office 2003, then Office 2003's Service Pack 3, then all Microsoft Updates for Office 2003. Then I configured a blank Outlook profile, no data other than the IMAP info for my .Mac/Me account. Then I downloaded (didn't used my existing copy) of iTunes 7.7 and reinstalled. Sync'd phone. Changed MobileMe settings. Told it to sync contacts and calendar with Outlook. It warned me because it was the first sync. Told it to take ALL of the MobileMe data and replace the data on the computer (which was blank.) NOTHING showed up in Outlook. When I tell it to sync Contacts with the Windows Address Book, it works fine.
In Conclusion, it still won't sync with Outlook, when it's set to Sync with Outlook I still get the annoying MAPI errors. So I switched to to Sync the Contacts with the Windows Address Book, and I'm backing up my WAB file now with my nightly backups.
I suppose we'll see if it gets fixed when I format/reinstall on Vista Ultimate in the next month or two. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open and willing to try them.
On a completely unproductive note: Despite my love for Exchange, I hate MAPI.

Help me! Audition always failing exports to wav, mov, and Premiere Pro! WHY???

I am sound editing and mixing a picture locked 25 min short film. When done with the mix and ready to export the mixdown, the export always takes forever (the project is 12GB large total) I mixdown to stereo file wav, but when I open the file, both VLC and Media Player don't play, with WMP saying its corrupt. I bring the same file into Premiere, and it says that it cannot import "because of a header problem"! What is that? I tried the same with the export to Quicktime (mov) format, and I got the same result. Go up to the window and choose Export to Premiere (you know, directly into Premeire) and it says it it will take 12 hours. I don't remeber cs5.5 taking this long. HELP PLEASE, I need to export this by tonight!!!
Export settings(both formats):
Convvert to 48 khz
Convert to 24 bt (32 with mov; only option)
tried both RF64 and Legacy Chunk whatever
Premeire Pro freindly setting on in Preferences
Windows 7 64 Pro
INtel Core i7 930
16GB RAM
GeForce GTS 250

I don't think a file of that length should exceed 4GB, but be aware that Audition CAN export wave files larger than that due to the RF64 support (vs. 'legacy chunk'), and Premiere can't yet open RF64 giga-wave-files!
Now, other than telling you that this shouldn't be happening, we'll need more information before we can track down what's wrong. Best thing is to detail for us what your export settings are, precisely.

Mov Export and Flv

I want to upload a flash animation to video hosting website like YouTube, Metacafe. I've Flash Pro Mx 2004 and QuickTime Pro 7.1.6. I converted a flash animation (frame-to-frame, and tween. No Action script other than "stop" at the end) This runs good on QuickTime.When I try to upload it on Metacafe it uploaded successfully but don't run, though it gave correct movie duration. I tried to convert the file using Movavi but it couldn't read the file by giving an error "file damage or broken". I also tired online converter but they also failed to convert the mov file (may be due to the same reason as with Movavi application). I don't see any other suitable format on QuickTime>Export other than MP4. But this turns the video quality into a nightmare.
The second problem I'm facing that I don't see flv exporter in MX 2004. I searched the net and did as they suggested. Import file into Library>Library>Select mov file>Properties>Export. The problem with me is that I don't see any Export option in Properties dialog box. I also installed Flash Video Converter that had come with MX 2004.
So need your help. Please let me know where the problem lies and how can I solve it? Or any other suggestion in this regard.

I've solved my problem that I was facing regarding converting .mov file. I downloaded ZD Soft Screen Recorder and recoded my animation on it. You can record your animation in Avi and Wmv format with it. And the movie quality is also good. Those who are facing problem with their mov format while converting it can try this recorder and can upload their animation on web as movie clip.

My iTunes library has too much on it. is there a way to export it to an external hard drive and play movies from there?

I have nearly filled up my hard drive with movies on itunes. i know i can export everything to an external hard drive, but is there a way to export only the movies, delete those from my hard drive, and then play the movies with the external hard drive connected?

I have FCE 4.0.1 and running OS x 10.7.5 when i burn my movie the audio from my movie clips don't come through . My Sound effects and music can be heard. I export to Quicktime movie, make it self contained then open IDVD for an intro and burn it.

Preview in Canvas and Quicktime movie export low quality

Hi Guys
I am trying to make a slideshow/movie using Final Cut Express HD 3.0 the preview in the canvas is very low quality both with the images and titles. I have tried to export to quicktime movie but that movie is still very low quality. They are not sharp and are pixelated. The images look fine with Preview and iPhoto. I do not have quicktime pro I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Best settings for exporting and dropping a MOV file into iDVD7?

I have a movie (originally shot in HD), made in iMovieHD6, and that I'd like to export and drop into iDVD7. *What settings would the brain trust recommend?* I cannot seem to get iDVD to render a good version through direct export from iMovie. (As a side, I wonder if it is because I started this process by bringing AVCHD files from my camera into iMovie8 and "going backwards" to iMovieHD6.)

I have used Pro-res from Final Cut Pro into iDVD and it works.

Export and Import members of a Software Update Group

Greetings,
I am looking for a method I can use to Export a Software Update Group (or just it's members) to a file that I can then use to Import into another 2012 hierarchy. I can't use the built-in Migration process as it is already connected to a different Hierarchy.
I have scripts that will pull Approvals from WSUS and then import into Update groups, but I also need something that I can use to copy update groups from "DEV" to "PROD" and back again.
Any thought or suggestions most welcome.

You cannot export Software Update Groups in ConfigMgr 2012.
One way of doing what you what is to use Powershell to "dump" all the settings of your Software Update Groups and then use that file as a basis for creating the Software Update Group in production. Or you could just create all Software Update Groups using
a Powerscript which runs in dev and production.
To get you started, you could look at the snippet of code below, which I use for creating Software Update Group automatically.
