Exporting as Albums in iPhoto

Hi. I just purchased an HP MediaSmart Server and would like to export all my photos to reside on the server. iPhoto exports single albums or the whole library. Is there a utility (or anything??) that would take my whole library and export all the albums automatically. Right now I would have to do each album individually.
Thanks!

This didn't work for me.  I'm using iPhoto '11, with OS 10.7.5 Lion.  When I export a photo from iPhoto to my desktop, then open it in Preview and go to the Inspector, the Created Date and the Modified Date are both today, not the date in Dec. 2008 when the photo was taken.
This is a pretty big issue.  Why does this happen?
Probably you are looking at the file metadata in the inspector not the photo EXIF metadata as TD's example shows

Simply, you don't. An Album is a concept that exists in iPhoto only and not in the Finder.
What you can do is export the photos from the Album to a Folder on the Hard Drive. Use the File -> Export command.

  • Export an album from iPhoto to Aperture

When I tried to export an album from iPhoto the following notice appeared; "Unable to create/users/the house icon/Pictures. Any ideas? I appreciate all the help you can give me. Thank you.

You can get this message if your iPhoto Library is corrupted. Go through that Album and Select the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). A Finder Window should open with the file selected. Does it?

  • Export an album from iphoto on a macbook pro

i am trying to export an album in iphoto to my desktop.  how do i do it?

Select all the Photos in it, then file -> Export to a folder on the desktop.

  • Can i export an album from iphoto to a memory stick with the album title to identify the the file

I would like to put my photos as per album on to a memory stick, can this be done with the named albums, so I can highlight the album then open the chosen title and then select the chosen photo, I only have iphoto on my mac and have a 32GB memory stick,  Hazel

If you want you can export the contents of that album via the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option and select File Name  = Use Album Name with Number and each photo will be exported with the Album Name as the file name followed by a sequential number, i.e. Album Name-01.jpg, Album Name-02.jpg, etc.
Then put them in a folder and drag the folder onto the memory stick.

  • Iphoto exporting an album entirely

I want to export an album from iPhoto into a file.....but I want the album to remain an album and not  end up as separate files. Many thanks if you can answer my question

An album is like a virtual folder.  So to keep the photos together as they are in the album create a new folder on the Desktop and export the photos into it.
If you want to put them all in a single file launch Preview and drag all of the photos onto the Preview icon on the Dock.  That will create a Preview document with each photo as a separate page.  It can be saved as a pdf file.

  • HT4236 I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. No dice. Help!

I've run out of room on my hard drive. I bought an external drive and exported all my albums to the external drive then deleted the albums from iPhoto. I want to sync both from my ext drive and new albums in iPhoto. My photos on the devices get wiped out when I sync to iPhoto since I deleted all the albums. But when I sync to my hard drive (where I maintained the album structure) the photos are copied to my iPad but lose all the hierarchy and folder structure. Now I have to scroll through thousands of photos to try to find the one I'm looking for. Before I sync any more devices I want to know the following: 1) can I restore the album structure on my iPad by using the photo cache? 2) is there a way to sync both new iPhoto albums AND pictures in the folders in my hard drive? And 3) how can I keep the photo hierarchy structure from my hard drive intact on my devices?

    Don't do that.
Copy /Photos/Photo library/ to the external.
    Hold Option and launch iPhoto.
Select Choose library and select the Photo library you copied to the external.

  • Iphoto '08 exporting single albums

In iphoto '06 I could drag and drop a album to a CD for achieving. This was useful for those albums that were only viewed occasionally (e.g weddings). Inserting the CD would open iphoto and allowed the album to be viewed a a shared device with the albums listed. This feature allowed all the photo tags to be retained as well a both the original and modified photos.
The albums I created in iphoto '06 still can be opened in iphoto '08.
However,I can no longer achieve albums in iphoto '08. I can only export photos, without the album links. So, when they are imported back, I would have to recreate the album. The only recommendation at the apple store was to use TM. I could also go into iphoto library and copy the full library, but this is risky.
This seems like a step back from the earlier '06 feature. Any suggestions on how to save selected albums..

You mis-remember. This was not done by drag and drop but was done using the Share -> Burn command.
This facility still exists unchanged in v7 (iPhoto 08).

When you sort the Album in iphoto are you sorting manually? Or by date of the photos?
When you sort in the Finder how are are you sorting?
Here's one way to do what you're trying to do:
Create your Album and sort the pics as you want them. Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the Finder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Exporting an album or group of photos from IPhoto 08

I have read the various posts on exporting photos from IPhoto 08. I have an email program that allows only one attachment/file. When I export an album to the desktop, it is not delivered as album but includes all the separate JPEG photos in the album. My desktop then shows only the separate JPEG photos. Thus I am unable to attach an entire album/file to any program, but only separate pictures. What can I do?? By the way, I old and not real sharp on the Mac, so make any suggestions simple please! Thanks!

    Stephen
When you export the Album, make a folder on the desktop to receive the pics:
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
Then you can zip that folder (in the Finder: File Menu -> Compress 'Folder Name'. This will make it a zip file. Attach that to your email.
What do you use for email? I've never heard of one that allows only a single attachment.

  • My iphoto doesnt let me export an album to quicktime video.

Since i updated my iphoto, when i try to export an album to quicktime video says that is impossible to find the file and didnt let me do it. Anybody know why is happening that.

i try to export an album to quicktime video
What do you mean? Are you trying to render a slideshow as a quicktime video? What exactly is the error message?
says that is impossible to find the file and didnt let me do it.
What file cannot be found?  If it is an image file, remove the offending photo from the slideshow. Maybe for one of your images the original master image file cannot be found. Do you see any exclamation points on the thumbnails of your photos?

  • How to burn albums in iPhoto with external DVD drive?

I have the new iMac which doesn't contain a DVD drive... so I bought an external DVD drive and I am trying to burn albums from iPhoto but in the "share" option, the "burn to disc" option doesn't come up. It's as if iPhoto doesn't recognize a DVD drive available, but it is. Anyone know a fix to this? Thank you!

open the album and select all - export to a desktop folder (see the user tip on exporting for the various options available) and then in the finder right click on that folder and burn to disk

  • In photoshop 10 when I export an album to a dvd I can't open it on my computer with windows 7 what do I do

IN photoshop 10 when I export an album to a dvd, I can't op@en it on my computer with windows 7. Help

The ! means that iPhoto cannot find the master or original file.
Assuming that these same photos behave correctly in the main library then it suggests the burn has gone wrong somewhere.
As a matter of interest... why are you burning libraries to DVD? If it's a form of back up then it's a dead end. Your next version of iPhoto won't be able termed or work with them, and your next Mac won't have an optical drive.

I was able to import all of my photos, but for some reason it wont let me import my albums. What should I be exporting from my old iphoto onto my harddrive to import my albums on the my new computer. This new iphoto wont let me import an xml file or any album things, just the photos...
    Thanks in advance!!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
You don’t export or import anything.
Simply: Copy the iPhoto Library Folder from the Pictures Folder on the Old Machine to the same location on the New Machine.
    Then Launch iPhoto. That’s it.
