Exporting as an XML file never works CS6

I am trying to export the timeline as an XML file in order to color correct in a different program. Every time I export it gets stuck with a status bar and stays there until I have to force quit Premiere (attached is an image of where I get stuck). I am using Yosemite with adobe CS6. How can I get this export to work!?

1. Exported the file and then attempted to reimport the unedited file into a copy of the CP-project
2. Edited only a single character (using Notepad++) and once again tried to import the XML-file in the project.
3. Renamed the XML-file and the CP-project. Is there anyone who has solved this problem?

Unable to export Primavera P6 xml files

Good day. I have some issues during the import/export process. For some unknown reason, Primavera generates blank xml files during the export process. I chose Primavera P6 - (XML) as export file format. Here are the steps that I have followed
-- Open a project
-- Click on file and then on Export at the main menu
-- Choose XML as export format and specify the file name path
-- Click Finish
-- Primavera generates a blank xml file instead of a zip file which primavera would normally do.

I mention you're using the p6 professional / P6 Client. Which version/Release (P6v7.0, R8.0, R8.1, R8.2 or R8.3) with which Service Pack do you use?
Can you first check if the Claim Digger/Schedule Comparison is working? If not can you please check which JRE you have installed and if you have a environment variable JAVA_HOME set to your JRE-path.

Backing up using Export/Import & ITL, XML file formats

Using Windows XP I have reset my default Itunes folder to c:\Itunes (too big for MY Documents\...). then copied everything from c:\itunes to an external hard drive. (I didn't realize the ITL file doesn't move and therefore I may not have a good backup of it.
Starting with a new computer, installed Itunes, then did a 'File, Add folder to library (with copy option)' from the external hard drive. This restored all my songs but I lost playlists, play count & my ratings.
I then did an import from library.xml, this restored the playlists, but still no play count or ratings.
My question is
1) IS there a better way to backup from Hard Drive to Hard drive? (Maybe all I really needed was the ITL file also?)
2) what is the format of the ITL file (I am a systems programmer, would appreciate a URL that has detail), what (hopefully free) utility would edit it?
3) a high level view of the XML file (I know XML)
4) Where is there complete documentation on Itunes ( a detailed description of export/import would be appreciated)

Here's my old standard answer for this topic - hope you can find something useful from it ...
iTunes Music Library.itl & iTunes Music Library.xml must stay where you found them.
To move your music files, use iTunes to do the work. Don't manually drag them around yourself.
• change the library location in iTunes Advanced Preferences tab, the new location does not need to exist; iTunes will create it. The new location should be empty of music files. This just sets the location for any new files brought into iTunes; it does not affect any existing files in the iTunes library.
• Select iTunes Advanced menu, Consolidate Library command. This copies all iTunes music files to the new library location. Playlist & Ratings data is preserved!
• After it completes (assuming no errors), quit iTunes and get rid of the original files from your previous location. The xml & itl files must remain in the old location, the library location setting does not control the location of these two critical files.

Is there anything within firefox that would prevent exporting a wordpress xml file?

everytime i try to export my wordpress blog contents (posts and comments or just post), the file that gets prepared for downloading is either 0 bytes or -1 bytes.
is there any type of setting within firefox, that could be causing the problem when exporting a wordpress blog?
is there someplace where i can enter (trusted sites),the domains or url's for each of my blogs in firefox and see if that makes any difference

Sure. When I open an .xml file with one doc, the tree is displayed, as expected. But, file contents with a document per line gives a syntax error on line 2:

In my log file, I have a document per line generated by rsyslog. When I open the file via FTP, it is still active, so an approach that encapsulates all the lines into a single monolithic 'log' element doesn't seem workable. The </log> line would never be there.

Help files never work

Does anyone know why my "help" files never seem to work? for instance in Mail I click on help to look for an answer and I get the same message every time.

What exactly do you want help in? Help is Application specific. So Mail has to be the Application on the top, i.e., you should see Mail next to the Apple logo on the top left of your screen. If you then click on Help, you'll get Help related to Mail. At least thats how it is supposed to work ... unless you have a problem.

Import/Export Large Complex XMl files(700MB) to MySQL tables

Am creating an application that will be mporting large and complex XML file in the range of 500-1000MB size. An xml ile wil have 5-6 levels of xml tags where the first tag will be the client account configuration e.g name, location, address, the second will be orders made, the third will be order items, fourth will be item defination...etc. The following is a sample structure of the file.

Because of the size, if i process this file using DOM it will result to out of memory error. I have tried parsing with SAX but it takes about 18 hours to process which is not ideal. If i import this data to Microsoft Access it takes about 10 minutes to import including it's relationship. i.e. creates the six tables and the foregin key relations.
I tried using XML-DBMS package but since it relies on DOM, it cant process. Does anyone know of a package that would help me import this data to any JDBC databse and also recreate the same structure of xml from the jdbc db. It would also be ideal if it can create sample map file during import and export.

I suggest that you just create SQL directly. Or perhaps a import file if MySQL has it.
Less impact on the database, easier to test, easier to verify, and much faster to actually apply the data.

Export ArrayCollection into XML file

Is it at all possible to export an ArrayCollection from Flex, into a XML file.
My array collection is being viewed in a datagrid as follows

Hello Sally,
First, I have only heard/read good things about the book Steve recommends. It is on my to buy list one day. Been awaiting a long deserved vaction to pick it up to read.
I approach XML files pretty much like I do any text file I am sent in that I will import or copy/paste a text file into a frame in ID and begin setting my styles. With XML, though, I first clean it up, move closing tags up to their logical close lines, remove spurious codes that mean something in HTML but don't necessarily belong in the XML file (like &#x2019 which is an apostrophe so I do a search and replace. But for   which is a non-breaking space I simply search and replace with a regular space in general), and make sure the XML validates.
Validation is much like making sure an HTML page is formed properly. I use an XML editor (XML BluePrint) and a text editor (UltraEdit) for these tasks. If I had to only have one or the other, I suppose the XML editor is what I would use.
I always show the import options when I import the XML and make sure that I link to the file.
So once a sample of the XML is on a page in ID (via File | Import XML), I highlight text within a tag, say like in your example above, the Providor name, and make it like I want and then create a new style. I generally name the styles as per the XML tag. Later on, that makes mapping tags to styles a little easier.
Once I set up all the styles preliminarily, I map the tags to styles. You can do that either via the Tags palette or via the Structure Pane that will appear once the XML is imported. In both cases, it is found via the flyout menu at the top right of their respective windows.
After mapping my styles to the tags, I select the root element in the Structure Pane (the topmost element. In your sample above it is "providors" and delete it. This removes the XML in your ID file. But the styles and tags are still present.
Then I import the XML again and look to makes sure all the tags/elements are styled as intended. I then correct any errors/ommissions. Then...I'll delete the XML again and import the full XML file.
I can upload what I did with your XML sample above so you can compare it to your source file if you would like. You would then see how/where I moved tags. Now, moving the tags is only "necessary" to avoid all the extra blank paragraphs. That can be accomplished by ID's search/replace, too. But I like to start out with the XML cleaned up, so I take the few minutes to do it.

Exporting using Quicktime - but file never appears??

Ever since I downloaded the latest iMovie '11 software update (9.0.7), every time I try to export using Quicktime, it takes two hours to export, shows no error messages of any kind, but the exported film NEVER shows up where I saved it to (or anywhere else on my computer). Has anyone else had this problem?
I can't export using any of the other options because the film is so large (the Quicktime export compresses it enough to upload to Vimeo, while exporting it straight to Vimeo does not). The Quicktime export (and all the settings still in place) worked perfectly before I installed the 9.0.7 update.
I need to get this film off my computer pronto. Please help???

Apologies for the long delay in response; have been working on other things of course.
I don't know how to use OS X's postscripting feature, but I did try and succeeded in creating a .ps file. When I try to open the file, however, it tells me there is a postscript conversion error and the file cannot be converted to pdf.
Manually distilling the file is exactly where the problem arises.
For giggles, I tried to select the OS X's pdf'ing feature instead of postscript or distilling, and it worked instantly! The dimensions are correct when I open it up, and the file size is large enough to indicate to me that the resolution is likely sufficiently high. I would not know for sure of course until finding out the hard way after sending it to the printers, but it seems to be a use-able file.
So, it seems that this is a pseudo-solution, at least so that I have a tool to bypass the problem when I next encounter it; however, I wonder if you have any ideas about how to actually fix the glitch? Does it have to do with the sorts of images that reside in the KeyNote file; if so, which file types does pdf not like and should be avoided?

.dist files never work

I have downloaded many updates using Software update which give me folder containing several packages plus a file like PAU200901-1.0.dist
This .dist file opens the Installer, but it always gets to an alert which says:
The Installer could not locate the data it needed to install the software. Check your install media or internet connection and try again or contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
1- The data IS there, in the folder created by the download. I have changed nothing.
2 - There is no install media, just the downloaded folder.
3 - My internet connection is perfect - I just downloaded the files.
4 - The software manufacturer is Apple. I'll file a report to them directly as well as posting here.
Can anyone help here? I have never been able to get one of these .dist installers to work. I usually resort to Pacifist and install all the sub-packages one by one.

Automatically updating should work without any special effort or difficulties. If you wish to have updates backed up, you can download them from apple.com as DMG files. I did this on my first mini, then got lax with it until my user group needed some help with a 'sneakernet' to help folks without broadband or even no internet access at all. The update packages can take up a LOT of space, so an external drive - probably the same you use for Time Machine - would be a good idea.
