Exporting between LiveType and FCE

Having difficulty importing files I created in LiveType into FCE. The qt movie I import is just a black screen. Same thing happens if I try to open it in Imovie.

Look back through several months of pages here and see wht you can find in the subjects for FCE. The version of LT that comes with FCE seems to be slightly different than the one that comes with the Final Cut Studio.
Has this ever worked for you? Are you sure you're interpreting the alpha properly in FCE?
Have you read the FCE manual and are you following the procedure precisely?
Most such posts are simple user errors but without more information we can't really help you yet.

  • Speeding up issue between LiveType and FCE

Hello, would so appreciate help with this! - When I'm playing my project back in Live Type, it is the perfect speed. I save, then import the actual project into Final Cut Express, but it is speeding up and the clip is half the amount of time it is in Live Type - I have used livetype before without this problem and can't figure it out. Even when I save this particular file to .mov, it is sped up. Just did this with a number of files with no problems and can't figure out what I must have hit to make it do this

What is the frame rate of your LiveType project? Does it match the frame rate of your FCE Sequence?

  • Color fidelity between slides and FCE output

Until the recent past, I have been scanning 35mm slides using a Cannon Canoscan 9900F coupled with Photoshop Elements v 2.0 into FCE v 3.0 on a Mac G-4 with OS 10.4.3. The color fidelity between the slides and final output was reasonably good. Within the past week I have upgraded system software to OS 10.4.8; upgraded Photoshop Elements to v 4.0 and FCE to v3.5.1. Now when I scan slides, the resulting images (both on the desktop and as printed with an Epson stylus 2200) are dark as if the slides were greatly underexposed. The Photoshop Elements correcting or enhancing tools do not solve the problem. I don’t think this is a monitor calibration issue but would welcome any suggestions. Thanks in advance. Jack A

    Hi(Bonjour)!
What is the relation with FCE ? It's seem that is more a problem with MAC OS X itself or photoshop or your scanner than FCE.

  • What are the main differences in features between FCP and FCE?

I'm buying filmmaking equipment for my teenage son, who has shown himself to be serious about getting started making shorts. One big decision (regarding costs and $$$ allocation for other system elements such as the computer and camcorder)is whether to get Final Cut Pro (studio version) or Final Cut Express. He has used Final Cut in several camps and film school programs. Feedback will be most appreciated!

FCP can't be bought by itself, however Final Cut Studio includes Color, Motion, and DVD Studio Pro.... FCE will not edit any format except DV and HDV. FCP will edit most every format. FCP is keyframeable, where FCE really isn't. There really is a ton of difference between the two apps. FCE has no media management, has fewer effects, etc... One's an enthusiasts' program and the other (Final Cut Studio) is a full professional suite of software... it's certainly worth the difference, but might be more than you want to spend. FCE is a subset of code taken from FCP, so learning it will help with learning FCP... the interface is nearly identical.

  • Audio sync problem when exporting between FCP6 and Soundtrack

Hi, I'm a newbie to this so apologies for any glaring errors.
I've recently upgraded to FC studio 2 and have exported the audio of an existing 20 minute custom format quicktime project (720x408, 30fps,) to soundtrack for sweetening.
Trouble is, when returning the audio back to FCP, the audio is shorter by several seconds and therefor totally out of sync! I've also tried outputting the multitrack audio from within FCP and bringing it back in as a single file and this is also out by several seconds. The output settings are the same as the project.
If I do nothing to the audio and simply send it to compressor; the M2v and it's aiff play in sync in Quicktime.
    Any ideas or work arounds?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Check you have the very latest version of QuickTime (7.7.1 at time of writing): QuickTime 7.7.1 for Windows

  • Import/Export Between Gschem and PSpice,

I have some .sch files I made with gEDA's schematic editor (gschem), and am trying to import them into PSpice for Windows. I'm not sure if this is the right community to ask, but I figured I'd just see if anyone here knows how to do it...
Or, if anyone can point me in the right direction (where to look, who to ask), I'd be very grateful.
    Thanks!

No. You need to be at the same revision level of Portal in both source and target environments.

  • Trouble importing LiveType into FCE

I am trying LiveType for the first time with my video. I have created the file in LiveType and then tried to import it into FCE. When I view the background in the viewer it looks great. When I drag it to my movie and try Insert I get an error that says "Edit Operation had no effect. Check the target tracks. You may need to open the source clip into the viewer in order to see all of the target tracks". It doesn't add it to my timeline. I can drag it to the timeline, but when I preview the video it says unrendered as it plays. It has the red line in the bar above it and everything else in my video is green. I have rendered the video in LiveType and also just tried the LiveType file...
Anyone have any advice? I am sure this is something simple...
    Thanks for your help!!

Appears to be a problem in LiveType and FCE as of Leopard.
LiveType files created BEFORE Leopard was installed import fine, but files created AFTER Leopard was installed will not import and return an error:
File Error. 1 File Recognized. 0 Access Denied. 1 file unknown.
Live Type files that are rendered as movies are importable and that is the workaround. But of course they cannot be edited again unless the Live Type file is reopened and re-rendered.
IOW, no import of a Live Type file directly into FCE.
Pro apps download doesn't appear to apply to FCE and you need a FCP serial # to access it anyway.
    All suggestions appreciated.

  • What's the difference between PNG and JPG for exporting .idea files from the Adobe Ideas app?

What's the difference between PNG and JPG for exporting .idea files from the Adobe Ideas app?
What situations are better to export to to .PNG or .JPG?

iPad apps are designed specifically for the iPad and will not run on the iPhone or iPod Touch. iPhone/iPod apps will run on the iPad, but will only take up an iPhone sized portion of the iPad screen (though you get a 2x button which effectively doubles each pixel in both directions so may appear pixelated). There are also 'universal' apps (which have a '+' symbol against them in the store) which have processing in them to recognise the device that they are on and will tailor the display accordingly (so will make use of the iPad's larger screen).

  • Missing Source files when exporting to Soundtrack and LiveType

An extremely frustrating "glitch" has occurred. When exporting to LiveType or Soundtrack, I receive and error message telling me that one or more of my source files are missing. I had been editing with these files in FCP 5 for the past few days with no problems. Initially I had no problem exporting to LiveType. Yet, today when I exported to Soundtrack Pro and subsequently LiveType, my source files just disappear. I have found some references to this issue in the discussions, but found no solution. If someone has found a solution since the last posting, please inform of it.

Export the clip using current settings.
Then open that in LT, and work with it independently.
Then export is and import it into FCP and use it to replace the original clip in the sequence.

  • Diffrance between Generate Export D S and Maintain Export D S

    Hi Experts
If we right click on the Cube here getting so many options, in that what is the Generate Export Data Source and Maintain Export Data Source. what is the difference between them. Please explain with example.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
If you want to load any BW Dat Traget (Cube/ODS/Master data) into another BW Data Target in the same or different BW system then you would create an export datasource. In the context menu (right click) of the Data target you would find the option "Generate export datasource". This way you create the datasource and the infosource is created automatically. Then you create the update rules and load the target cube/ods.
Goto RSA1 -> Infosource -> Datamart -> 8<Source Data Target name> to find the Infosource.

  • Difference(s) between FCE 2.0 and FCE HD?

is the ability to edit HDV the only difference between FCE 2.0.x and FCE HD?
    thanks...

right - in other words, FCE HD is not obsolete, any more than the newest PPC Macs are obsolete. it's just that the current version doesn't run on the very latest hardware. with all the PPC Macs out there, that hardly qualifies as obsolescence.
but this is all about semantics, and i really don't care enough about the topic to pursue it any further.
thanks for the information though, Ian. it's much appreciated.

  • Movie export size not available/balance between size and quality

    Hi,
I imported some film into iMovie 08 from my Canon HD camcorder, at full 1920 x 1080 size. After I finished editing it, I wanted to export the final movie at 960 x 540. This size is not available under the "standard" share options ("large" is 1280 x 720 and "medium" is I can't remember what exact size but smaller than 960 x 540). Similarly, when I go into "Export using QuickTime" and try to create an H.264 movie there, the 960 x 540 option simply isn't available. What gives?
The reason I wanted to use this size was to try to cut down on file size. I exported the movie at 1280 x 720 and got a 380Mb file. So I wanted to try it at 960 x 540 and see what difference that made to the file size and quality. Since I couldn't seem to do it using iMovie, I ended up taking the 1280 x 720 video and using ffmpegx to convert it to 960 x 540. The problem is that I ended up with a file that was, bizarrely, even bigger (384Mb), and that had a thin green line across the bottom of the video.
So, in summary, my three questions are:
    1. Why can't I export from iMovie in 960 x 540?
    2. Why does my ffmpegx conversion result in an even bigger file?
    3. What's the best way for me to get the optimum balance between file size and quality? (For viewing on Apple TV/HD television).
    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

Another very good 3rd party slideshow application is PhotoPresenter. It has some of the nicest themes I've seen in any slideshow application (including the Apple TV introduction theme) and will export to a variety of sizes up to 720 x 480 which is DV-DVDCPRO - NTSC.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Flie error working between FCP and Livetype

I create my desired clip in Livetype and save project. I click and hold Livetype Icon in the Canvas window and press Command + Tab and toggle over to FCP 4. However, when I try to drop the Livetype Icon into my Browser I get Unknown File error and if I drop Icon onto FCP Timeline absolutely nothing happens.
Does anyone have any ideas on why this is happening???
    Thanks.

Maybe they have fixed some of the problems, but this workflow was the root of a number of people loosing most of their project files. Somewhere along the line FCP would think everything was deleted or outdated render files and would delete the whole bunch. They were not in the trash... they were just GONE.

  • What's the difference between FCE and FCE HD?

I'm thinking about getting Final Cut Express 4. I was poking around on Ebay and noticed that some were selling Final Cut Express HD and others were selling just Final Cut Express 4. Is there a difference? If so, what?
    Thanks.

Back in 2005, FCE 3 was introduced with the name "FCE HD" simply to show that it could also edit HDV material which was quite rare then.
Nowadays we take it for granted that editing apps can deal with HDV and AVCHD so it is no longer necessary to advertise the fact.
For your info the only versions of FCE that have been produced are FCE 1 (that was simply called FCE), FCE 2, FCE 3, FCE 3.5 and FCE 4, though please note that these are not the names used on the boxes!
