  • Export all tracks as audio files in LPX has suddenly ceased to function correctly

I have been working on a project for the past three months, which requires me to work from home ,then export all my tracks as audio files and take them into another studio. This is because my collaborator's DAW of choice is now Nuendo. So far, this has proved to be a very successful approach to our workflow, until today. As an example , I have a cue with 96 tracks. When I came to use export all tracks as audio files, the usual window came up, defaulting the destination to the bounces folder in the Logic song. However, this time, instead of the expected and correct number of tracks to be saved ( 96 ) , the total was 25 !
I tried this with a few other recent Logic songs and the same thing happened. None of us can figure it out. I had to manually, and individually, bounce each track separately, which was very time-consuming. A clue, though….. I tried exporting the tracks one at a time. So, the first one was, say, piccolo rips. It did that fine . The second track was Alto flute runs, but when I came to export, Logic seemed to think it was still the piccolo rips! This implies that the reason why I'm experiencing reduced export files is because Logic is thinking that many of the tracks are actually duplicates, so it's stopping them from being exported. That's the only explanation I have. However, I don't have the answer to the reason for this. I'm running the latest version of Logic.
Has anyone clue as to why this has suddenly started to happen and how it can be fixed please? I'm thinking I might just trash the Logic app and reinstall.
    Many thanks for any help.

First of all you are welcome...
I have to say... I suspect something has changed even if you are not directly aware of it.... between the time it did work and now that it doesn't for you... Be it for example... an update to a plugin you are using.. or even a new/different plugin you are using now that you didn't use before...
I checked with one of my clients a few minutes ago, who does regular, several times a week, large project stem exports to see if he has ever had or heard of such an issue ( in case it one of those odd bugs that only rears its head every now and again..) and the answer was no, not at all...
So all I can recommend is to create some testbed projects.. using different combinations of Plugins, creation of tracks methods.. templates etc.. until you uncover the root cause of the issue... because i suspect it may well be something unique to your system, config or work method that is causing this problem..
You might also want to check with the guys at
    http://www.logicprohelp.com/forum/index.php
..and see if David, Jordi, Eric or one of the other regulars there, have ever come across such a problem.. I did a quick cursory search there and found nothing at all  but it was a very quick look/see type of search...
Maybe CCT, Pancenter... or Edgar here.. might have an idea or two, too...
Finally,  Can you also state your current OS X / Logic version please...
    Cheers..

  • Exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere Pro CS4

    Hi there,
I wonder if anybody can help me out with exporting 5.1 ac3 audio from Premiere CS4 version 4.1.0?
I have a 3min long HD 5.1 clip that I need to cut down to 60seconds and add fade transitions to. The final clip will be used in a media player with very specific spec - the clip needs to remain HD 1080p with a frame rate of 29.97 and a maximum CBR of 38. The audio must be 5.1 aac. The format can be mpeg 2 or h.264. The overall quality loss needs to be minimal.
Up to now I have been cutting up footage that only needs to be stereo and I found the best way to to this while keeping quality was to use Prem Pro and export as mpeg 2 1080p 29.97, quality:5, bitratre: CBR 38, audio as mpeg layer 2 (as these clips were stereo only). These clips played back fine and looked great so I wanted to keep the 5.1 clip process as close to this as possible.
So far all I have been able to get from Premiere Pro is an audio codec called DVD_LPCM which the media player will not recognise. I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to 5.1 audio so I may be doing something obviously wrong...
    - I have purchased the 5.1 surcode codec and its activated.
    - I have started a new AVCHD (I need 1920x1080) 1080p 29.97  project with a 5.1 audio master
    - The orignal file is an mpeg which I have pulled into PPro and selected Clip > Audio > Breakout to mono
    - I take the 6 mono channels in the project panel and put them into thier own mono tracks in the sequence.
    - the video I use is the original mpeg with the 5.1audio muted in the sequence.
    - When i select each track in the project panel and go to Clip > Audio > Source channel mappings, I see that track has already been allocated a source channel. So I go to the Audio Mixer panel and adjust the 5.1 panners for each tyrack according to what the Source Channel Mapping window has told me - Audio 1 is is L, audio 2 is R, audio 3 is LS, 4 -  Rs, 5- C and 6- LFE
    - I cut the video and all the mono track to the 60seconds I need and export using these settings:
    Video - exactly as before
    Audio -
Format - Dolby Digital, Codec - SurCode, Audio Coding Mode: 3/1 (L, R, C, LFE, Ls, Rs - 5.1 Surround), LFE: on.
The clip exports with DVD_LPCM 5.1 audio. Is it to do with the AVCHD preset? Could anyone help me get aac? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Using AME and the SurCode Plug-in, here's how the dialog screen looks for the Audio Tab in PrPro 2.0. It should be similar in CS4:
You do have the Minnetonka SurCode DD 5.1 SS plug-in, right?
Good luck, and hope that this is helpful.
    Hunt
PS - note that in the screen-cap, I have composited the dialog box, as though it fully displayed, with no need to scroll it. Depending on your display, you may need to scroll, and your scroll bars will look different from what you see here - just ignore that part of it.

    The function is called Bounce....

  • Export all tracks as audio files

    Hi all,
I need to export all my tracks as audio files, and i need them to all be the same length, i set a loop brace from the first bar to bar 233, but when i choose export all tracks as audio files, some tracks are coming out at say 4m06, some are 5m30 etc.
I would like to just export all tracks and have them the same length - i.e the full song length. Is this possible?
The only way i've found at the moment is to bounce each track one at a time, but this is going to take ages lol!
(i did try putting a blank midi file or audio file at the very end of every track to make logic think it needs to export all channels right to the end, but this still didn't work)
any ideas or help would really be appreciated,
    Thanks

This is just the way the export feature works. Once there is no more audible audio data, or MIDI information, the exported audio region ends.
Is there a particular reason you need every region to go to the end marker, even if no audio or MIDI information is contained to that point?
This actually saves you hard drive space, by not creating audio files bigger than necessary.

  • Export MXF with multiple audio channels for broadcast

    Hi,
I work at a broadcast company as an editor. We always used FCP with the free sony xdcam plugin to export. This plugin seems to be one of the rare ways to export an MXF with 4 audio channels. I don't know exactly why we need to export it for broadcasting with 4 audio channels, but we do.
Since our workload has grown enormously the last few months and it will only become more we are optimizing our workflow. We also work with a lot of different endboards in After Effects and we made a nice template to work with. And since AE and Premiere can make a dynamic link we are considering changing from FCP to Premiere.
Now comes the question!: The only obstacle we could not find an answer to is exporting it with 4 audio channels as an MXF from Premiere CS5. Will there be some development on this level regarding CS6?
A solution to this should save us a lot of time!
Any help will be highly appreciated!
I also attached an example for the usual MXF files we export

I have the same problem. I have a project with multiple audio channels and I want to export them as individual channels in a MXF-file.
    Method:
When I created a new sequence I choose "Multichannel" from the "Tracks" page. When I export the MXF OP1a, I choose 8 channels from the "Audio" page. None of the channels are muted.
    Result:
The rendered file contains 8 channels, but only the first two channels contains any audio (main left + right), the rest of the channels are empty. Channel 1 and 2 contains the audio from all channels, but I want the channels to be seperated in the same way as they are layered in Premiere.
I don't understand your answer to wleoni75's question. Could you please help me further?

  • Exporting from Premiere Pro Audio Out of Sync!

I am using the latest version of Permiere Pro and it is up to date. I  imported animation files that I did on Adobe Flash Professional. I made my movie and everything is fine. But when I go to export my project the audio becomes uncycned in the finish product. I am using Youtube 720 23.976, and change the frame rate to 24.  It has worked fine, on the first two videos I have done. I am using Quicktime to view the movies after they are exprted, and that is where I see the problem has occured. I am wondering what do I do so that when I have my exported movie, in the final product, the audio is cynced with the movie itself. Thanks for your help.

  • Quicktime Export Fails to Recognize Audio in MPG1 files

When exporting MPEG1 to any other format with QT Pro, audio options are greyed out ('No Audio in Original'), and, predictably, the export file has no audio.
VisualHub exports MPEG1 with audio just fine. But I've paid for QT Pro, and not VisualHub.
This has to be a bug in QT, right? MPEG1 is, unfortunately, still pretty common, and I would think Apple wants users to be able to put whatever video they have on their iPods.
    Thanks in advance.
    QT 7.1.3
    OS 10.4.7
NB: Is it possible for moderators to retroactively edit topic subjects to be much more specific? The more likely a visitor is to find her topic answered, the fewer new topics there are, less repetition, etc.
Even better, consolidating the most common questions into 5 or 10 stickies would save visitors much time, and the people who answer these questions, exponentially more time.

Thank you for the answer. The information was useful, the tone was not what I expected. When I asked whether more specific headings could be encouraged, I meant it out of sympathy for the moderators/answerers, not to incur their ire. Perhaps it would have been better if I'd left out the editorial comment.
I searched for 'audio', which I thought was a more technical term than 'sound'.
I read the indicated specs for QT above. The MPEG shortcoming is not laid out there clearly in any sense. MPG is not listed as an export format, so from that I would conclude QT can't export to MPEG1.
It is clear in the Apple article. For it to be 'clear' to anyone right away, it should be added in one sentence to the relevant help section of QT: 'QT will not export files with some codecs because of their proprietary neature.'
Or it should be in a pop-up message as soon as you try to export an mpg: 'Because mpeg is ownded by someone else, export will only render video'.
I believe I asked a valid question, and provided a specific account of my problem, so this post will be useful for future browsers.
Because VisualHub dealt easily with mpg, I thought QT must too. I was wrong.

  • Exporting issue. Please please help!

    Hey all,
this is weird: When I play my film in edit mode, it's great! But when I export it, for some bizarre reason after the first transition (the beginning is fine) some of my audio track is being deleted, leaving the rest of the audio & picture out of sync. I have a music bed playing underneath my film, but that shouldn't affect it.
As an experiment, I deleted the transition and exported the film and it was all fine. That portion of the video played as it should. I then added the transition back in, exported the film again and low and behold, the first part of my speaking after the transition has been deleted again. AAAAARRRRGGHH!!
I've messed about with the precision editor and tried to find out what's going on, but it's baffling. Why will my film play fine in edit mode, then delete some of the audio after being exported?
All suggestions and help gratefully received!!

    Hi Dean,
I'd always assumed the master table was written to the dumpfile as it went - so an object is completed and it's written to the file (and also the table still in the database). Thinking about it again now and i think you must be correct - there is no point in it unloading any data from the MASTER_TABLE to the file until it has finished everything. So perhaps everything is OK as you suggest.
To take your answer a stage further you could load the master table in as you already showed how to do and then query it to see what it thinks it exported using the example i wrote some time ago for doing something similar where i wanted to see how long each individual table took to export - this also displays how many rows etc were in it and 'reconstructs' part of the log file for you - that's detailed here. I think this same SQL (or something similar for import) could be used to list what it thinks is in the file.
Living with Oracle: EXPDP metrics=y for tables?
    Cheers,
    Harry

  • Export a Quicktime puts audio out of sync.

    Hi
I've just cut some footage capture on my iPhone.
When I export the quicktime the audio is out of sync. When I play the final cut timeline it's fine.
    Any suggestions please?

Hi - Do you want the detailed explanation or the quickest solution?
    If the quickest solution:
    Click anywhere on your timeline.
Type Command + 0 (zero) to bring up your sequence settings.
    When it opens change
    !http://www.spotsbeforeyoureyes.com/SeqSettingH264.jpg!
    to this:
    and click OK.
When you have done that a red render bar will appear over your sequence, click anywhere on the timeline and type Command + A and the type Command + R to render it all.
    Now export your Quicktime movie.
Hope this helps. If you want the detailed explanation post back.

  • FCP audio help needed

I am running FCP 5 on a MacBook Pro, and I am having a couple of audio issues that I can't figure out. The first is:
I am capturing mini DV from a camcorder via firewire. Audio is being captured, and the input levels are moving, but I can't hear it while capturing. The setup says that the speaker is off. How do I turn it on? I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Problem two: The audio on the tape is stereo, but it is being captured as 2 channel mono. In my capture settings, I have no audio options. They are all greyed out. How do I change them to stereo? Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Charles
mac book pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

if you are capturing DV then you can "Preview" the audio from tape during Log and Capture by going to the Capture Settings tab in the Log and Capture window and enabling the Audio --> Preview checkbox
if you are capturing HDV then this is not an option, you need to connect speakers instead to the camera/deck and preview from source.
problem two: again, check the Log and Capture window > Capture Settings tab.
there is a button to the left of the input channel meters ... you can toggle between stereo and dual mono when you press this button. if the picture on the button shows two interlocking circles then it is set to capture the two channels as a stereo pair, if the two circles are separate then it is set to capture the two channels as dual mono
    hope it helps

I need to send an important session today but when i go to file>export>all tracks as audio files, the option doesn't appear. I have an external hard drive which has my i-photo on it & some movies from i-movie that I have on disk now. But for some reason my ehd has a caution symbol on it & I can't move my event to free up space on my hd so that I can export i-movie events. Help!

Usually the caution symbol means that it's formatted as a PC compatible format like NTFS or most likely FAT32. For iMovie to use it the ehd must be formatted Mac OS Extended. Then iMovie will show it without the caution symbol and you can drag/drop open any Event/Project from that hard drive.
To find out if it's formatted as PC:
Go to the desktop, holding down the Control key click on that ehd and in the pop-menu choose 'Get Info'
Under Format: It will say whether or not it's Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The only way to undo a PC formatted ehd would be to copy everything off of it first, Erase/Format the drive using Disk Utility in the Applications>Utilities folder on your Mac, choosing the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format in the pull-down menu there.
