Exporting data to csv files
Please can you help an Oracle newcomer?
Below is a script (which I took from the forums) that I used to
run in Lite to export data to a csv file.
As you can see I am having problems with running the same file
in 8i - It starts off OK i.e. asking for the name of the table
but then, instead of completing the full script it executes a
few lines then keeps asking me for the name of the table. I
suspect there is something wrng in my environment settings
(Comments ON etc.) but I have checked everything with no success.
Any help would be much appreciated as this is a really useful
script which I use the whole time.
Thanks very much for your help.
Regards
Andrew

How to export data to .csv file ?
Hi guys, I know this topic is covered many times in this forum. How do I export my table data to a csv file when my data already has some , (commas) in it. For example, I have two columns in a table, ID and DESCRIPTION. The DESCRIPTION column has data which has , (commas) in it. When I export the data using the following script, I see multiple columns in my excel file as DESCRIPTION has data with commas and each part of it is shown as a separate column in excel sheet.
set heading off
set echo off;
set pause off;
spool tbl_account.csv;
select To_Char(ID)|| ',' || To_Char(Description) From tbl_account;
spool off;
Thanks in advanceHave you thought about putting those values between quotation marks?
"test,test" for example would end up in one cell.

How to export data to csv file on a scheduled basis
Hi,
I'm trying to do something that should probably be simple but I just can't figure it out.
I have an existing MS SQL database (2008 R2). I have a very simple SQL script. I need to run this script on a daily basis and save the results as a .csv file.
I've tried creating a job in SQL Manager - that didn't work. Then I found a tutorial that had me use MS Visual Studio... couldn't get that to function either.
Can someone help me understand what program I should be using, and how to go about creating this as a task / job that can run on a scheduled basis?
Thank you!
ChrisHi, you can follow the below steps to get your work done -
Create a batch file (.bat) and dump the following text into it
sqlcmd -S myServer -d myDB -E -Q "select col1, col2, col3 from SomeTable" -o "MyData.csv" -h-1 -s"," -w 700
Replace myServer with your server name,
myDB with your Database name and then replace the query with your actual query.
-h-1 removes column name headers from the result
-s"," sets the column seperator to ,
-w 700 sets the row width to 700 chars (this will need to be as wide as the longest row or it will wrap to the next line)
Save the batch file and the schedule it as per your requirement.
Hope, that helps.

How to import data from CSV file with columns separated by semicolon?
I migrate database from MS SQL 2008 to ORACLE 11g
I export data to CSV file from MS SQL
then I try to import it to Oracle
several tables goes fine using Import data option in the SQL Developer
Standard CSV files with data separated by comma were imported.
chars, date (with format string), and integer data are imported via import wizard without problems
the problems were when I try to import table with noninteger numbers with modal part separated by comma not by dot
comma is the standard separator for columns in CSV file
so I must change the standard separator to semicolon
then the import wizard have problem to correct recognize the columns data because it use only standard CSV comma separator :-/
In SQL Developer 1.5.3 Tools -> Preferences -> Migration -> Data Move Options
I change "End of Column Delimiter" to ; but it doens't work
Is this possible to change the standard column separator for import data wizzard in SQL Developer 1.5.3?
Or maybe someone know how to import data in SQL Developer 1.5.3 from CSV when CSV colunn separator is set to semicolon?A new preference has been added to customize the import delimiter in main code line. This should be available as part of future release.

Export data in CSV and store the file in local drive
Hi,
Here is the requirements.
Fetch the values from table (around 60000 records), and export them into CSV file and store the file in local drive.
I have written servlet to to this and it is working fine expect saving the file in local drive. At the moment, it is asking to save as in local drive. i want to save the file automatically in particular path (/var/www/files/). Below is the code.
String file = "CandidatesDetails" + sd + ".csv";
queryString = "select * from candidate where candidate.status='A'";
connection = ConnectionPoolHelper.getConnection();
response.setContentType("application/csv");
response.setHeader("content-disposition", "filename=" + file);
System.out.println("Query= " + queryString);
ps = connection.prepareStatement(queryString,
ResultSet.TYPE_SCROLL_INSENSITIVE,
ResultSet.CONCUR_READ_ONLY);
rs = ps.executeQuery();
datas = "CANDIDATE ID,CANDIDATE TITLE,FIRST NAME,LAST NAME,E-MAIL,NATIONALITY ID,NATIONALITY,COUNTRY ID,COUNTRY NAME,INDUSTRY ID,INDUSTRY DESCRIPTION,EXPERIENCE,DATE OF BIRTH,HEAR ABOUT US\n";
oout.write(datas);
String country = "";
String nationality = "";
String hearABtUs = "";
while (rs.next()) {
nationality = rs.getString(7);
if (nationality == null)
nationality = "";
else if (nationality.equals("null"))
nationality = "";
country = rs.getString(9);
if (country == null)
country = "";
else if (country.equals("null"))
country = "";
hearABtUs = rs.getString(14);
if (hearABtUs == null)
hearABtUs = "";
else if (hearABtUs.equals("null"))
hearABtUs = "";
else
hearABtUs = hearABtUs.replaceAll(",", ";");
datas = rs.getInt(1) + "," + rs.getString(2) + ","
+ rs.getString(3) + "," + rs.getString(4) + ","
+ rs.getString(5) + "," + rs.getInt(6) + ","
+ nationality + "," + rs.getInt(8) + "," + country
+ "," + rs.getInt(10) + "," + rs.getString(11)
+ "," + rs.getString(12) + "," + rs.getString(13)
+ "," + hearABtUs + "\n";
oout.write(datas); Regards,
Dongan.Here is the first few lines
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
String datas = "";
PreparedStatement ps = null;
ResultSet rs = null;
String queryString = "";
Connection connection;
PrintWriter oout = response.getWriter();
java.util.Date d = new java.util.Date();
SimpleDateFormat dateformat = new SimpleDateFormat("dd-MMM-yyyy");
String sd = dateformat.format(d);
tryAt the moment, when i run http://localhost:8080/project/CandidatesDetail, it will ask me to save the file somewhere. I should manually mention the path to save the file. what i want is, it should automatically save it in the location C:\projects\files\.
thanks.

Export batch data into CSV file using SQL SP
Hi,
I have created WCF-Custom receive adapter to poll Sql SP (WITH xmlnamespaces(DEFAULT 'Namespace' and For XML PATH(''), Type) . Get the result properly in batch while polling and but getting error while converting into CSV by using map.
Please can anyone give me some idea to export SQL data into CSV file using SP.How are you doing this.
You would have got XML representation for the XML batch received from SQL
You should have a flat-file schema representing the CSV file which you want to send.
Map the received XML representation of data from SQL to flat-file schema
have custom pipeline with flat-file assembler on the assembler stage of the send pipeline.
In the send port use the map which convert received XML from SQL to flat file schema and use the above custom flat-file disassembler send port

How to export data to .csv and send that file to folder using sql commands?
Really hoping someone can provide some code sample or point me in the right direction (with examples using sql).
I am using oracle 11g with plsql developer. My requirement is that the data retrieval should be automatic. That means when query a data in oracle table , the data should be convert into .csv file and then it should send that to some specific folder.
Example: Assume that student_sub1 table have all students subject1 data.when i write a query like select * from student_sub1 where student=1, the student1 data should convert into .csv file and then the .csv file should go to student1 folder.
Hence I am requesting you to suggest me how write a sql code to convert the data into .csv file and to create a folder to send that file using oracle.
Your inputs helps me alot.
Thanks in advance!!!!

OBIEE 11g - issue when export to a csv file
Hello,
I have an issue when I try to export to a csv file a report having numeric feild, when I export and open the file in notepad the trailing zeros to the right of decimal points do not show up. When export to another formats (such as excel, pdf) the trailing zeros appears correctly. e..g, 100.00 appears as 100, 100.50 appears as 100.5.
Do you know what can be done in order to have trailing zeros to the right of decimal points to appear in a csv?
ThanksThis is a bug see below.
Bug 13083479 : EXPORT DATA TO CSV FORMAT DOES NOT DOWNLOAD EXPANDED HIERARCHICAL COLUMNS
Proposed workaround : OBIEE 11.1.1.5: Pivot Table Report Export To Csv Does Not Include Hierarchical Data [ID 1382184.1]
Mark if answered.!
Thanks,

Any one can you help regarding this
Edited by: 30021986 on Oct 1, 2012 6:04 PMThis may not be an option for you but in pinch you may want to consider outputing your data to an MS Spreadsheet, then saving it as a CSV. It's somewhat of a cumbersome process, but it will get you by for now.
You will need to change your content type to application/vnd.ms-excel.
<% response.setContentType("application/vnd.ms-excel"); %> -

Loading data from .csv file into existing table
Hi,
I have taken a look at several threads which talk about loading data from .csv file into existing /new table. Also checked out Vikas's application regarding the same. I am trying to explain my requirement with an example.
I have a .csv file and I want the data to be loaded into an existing table. The timesheet table columns are -
timesheet_entry_id,time_worked,timesheet_date,project_key .
The csv columns are :
project,utilization,project_key,timesheet_category,employee,timesheet_date , hours_worked etc.
What I needed to know is that before the csv data is loaded into the timesheet table is there any way of validating the project key ( which is the primary key of the projects table) with the projects table . I need to perform similar validations with other columns like customer_id from customers table. Basically the loading should be done after validating if the data exists in the parent table. Has anyone done this kind of loading through the APEX utility-data load.Or is there another method of accomplishing the same.
Does Vikas's application do what the utility does ( i am assuming that the code being from 2005 the utility was not incorporated in APEX at that time). Any helpful advise is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
AnjaliHi Anjali,
Take a look at these threads which might outline different ways to do it -
File Browse, File Upload
Loading CSV file using external table
Loading a CSV file into a table
you can create hidden items in the page to validate previous records before insert data.
Hope this helps,

Can you tell more about sql * loader??? how to know that utility is available for me or not??? I am using oracle 10g database and plsql developer???SQL*Loader is part of the Oracle client. If you have a developer installation you should normally have it on your client.
the command is
sqlldrType it and see if you have it installed.
Have a look also at the FAQ link posted by Marwin.
There are plenty of examples also on the web.

How to saving data in csv file
I have problem with saving data in csv file. I would like save my data look
like this example :
excel preview :
A B C
1 10 11 12
2 13 14 15
As we see all values are in separate cell A1=10, B1=11, C1=12 ...
so I try :
PrintWriter wy = new PrintWriter(new FileWriter("test.csv"));
values[0][0]="10";
values[0][1]="11";
values[0][2]="12";
values[1][0]="13";
values[1][1]="14";
values[1][2]="15";
for (String[] row : values){
for (String col : row) {
wy.print(col + "\t");
but csv file look like :
A1=10 11 12
A2=13 14 15
but B1-B2 and C1-C2 is empty
the second steep is use Ostermiller library :
OutputStream out;
out = new FileOutputStream("temp.csv");
CSVPrinter csvp = new CSVPrinter(out);
String[][] values = new String[2][3];
csvp.changeDelimiter('\t');
values[0][0]="10";
values[0][1]="11";
values[0][2]="12";
values[1][0]="13";
values[1][1]="14";
values[1][2]="15";
csvp.println(values);
but the result is also this same, is anyone do how to resolve this problem
?but iI don`t want to seperate with comma....value
I
want to seperate each value to seperate cellWhen you save the file, separate w/ comma
When excel loads it, it will automagicarifficallyput
it in it's own cell.what it is "w/ " ? when I separate my data with
comma excel don`t put value to spererate cells"w/" is an abbreviation of "with". Post the code that doesn't work, along with the results you get. If it's not working with commas, you must be doing something else wrong. -
How to create a datasource for 0COSTCENTER to load data in csv file in BI
how to create a datasource for 0COSTCENTER to load data in csv file in BI 7.0 system
can you emil me the picture of the step about how to loaded individual values of the hierarchy using CSV file
thank you very much
my emil is <Removed>
allenStep 1: Load Required Master Data for 0CostCenter in to BI system
Step 2: Enable Characteristics to support Hierarchy for this 0Cost Center and specify the External Characteristic(In the Lowest Node or Last Node) while creation of this Characteristic InfoObject
Step 3: On Last Node of Hierarchy Structure in the InfoObject, Right Click and then Create Hierarchy MANUALLY by Inserting the Master Data Value as BI dosent Support the Hierarchy load directly you need to do it manually....
Step 4: Mapping
Create Text Node thats the first node (Root Node)
Insert Characteristic Nodes
Insert the Last Node of the Hierarchy
Then you need to create a Open hub Destination for extracting data into the .csv file...
Step1 : Create the Open Hub Destination give the Master Data table name and enter all the fields required....and create the transformations for this Open Hub connecting to the External file or excel file source...then give the location on to your local disk or path of the server in the first tab and request for the data...It should work alright let me know if you need anything else...
Thanks,
Sandhya
