Exporting different formats in the same sequence.

I created a sequence in FCE mixing both DV footage and MP4 footage (H.264 codec). I had no problems importing into FCE and working with both at the same time.
When I export quicktime movie to idvd and watch the dvd on a tv, the dv footage looks beautiful but the MP4 footage is very blurry.
I then tried many different compression options for export, but anything that makes the MP4 footage look good makes the dv footage look terrible.
Is there an export option in FCE that would create a reasonable looking DVD from original source material in different formats?

We used 2 different cameras when filming a project. I don't currently have access to the one used to film the MP4 footage. It saved onto a memory card during filming and I got it onto my computer by connecting the video camera and dragging the clips to a file on my desktop.
An example of the names the clips saved under is SDV_0403.MP4, SDV_0404.MP4, etc.
Properties of a sample clip as follows:
Kind: MPEG-4 Movie
Dimensions: 720x480
Codecs: H.264, AAC
Duration: 00:25
Size: 17.6 MB on disk
Channel count: 2
Total bit rate 5,911
Sorry if there's irrelevant info there...I'm not sure what's necessary.
I would just drag the clips right from the file on my desktop to FCE either into the timeline or the canvas and insert them among others. Then render them so I could see them in the canvas, editing and rendering as necessary.
I will try the mpeg streamclip in the future, but I'm freaking out a bit because I've already edited hours of footage, and fear having to go back to the beginning to re-import my source footage and start from scratch. I definitely won't be working with multiple formats in the future. I'm just trying to salvage this project now as best I can.

    Hi Wayne,
Thank you for this response.  I have tried this but when I start enterring $ amounts some, such as $6.00, go in OK others such as $4.00 appear as a date ie 4 Oct 12.

  • Capture scratch in different formats in the same project

I was asked to edit several hours of wedding video that have two different formats in capture scratch. All are Quick time movie. Can I combine the following formats in the same project and sequences, or what steps do I need to take before I start the project? Any suggestions on the proper Easy Set Up "format" and "use" selection? Thanks for the help.
    First format-
    DV 720x480 (853x480), 16 bit interger(Big Endian), mono 48kHZ
    FPS 29.95
    Data rate 30.29 Mbit/s
    Current size 853x480 pixels (actual)
    Second format-
DVCPro HD (720p60), 960x720(1248x702), 16 bit interger (Big Endian), mono 48 kHz
    FPS 23.98
    Data rate 49.11 Mbit
    Current size 1248x702 ixels (actual)
    Rob

DVCPRO HD is not supported in FCE. The HD media is of course much larger than the SD media, so you have to decide how to handle that. Also the frame rate conversion might not be great.

  • Can I export in different formats at the same time?

Most of my pictures are in different formats. When I choose ones of different formats and then try and export them at the same time, I have to choose what format to put them in(TIFF, JPEG, etc.) Is there an option to export each one in it's original format or do they all have to be exported in one format of my choosing?
Maybe I just don't understand formats and how Aperture makes adjustments from Masters to Versions.
    Please help if you can.
    Thanks,
    Brian

i do all the time. Select the images you want to export and start to export. Once the export begins, select a second set of images and start to export. You can watch the exports through Activity Monitor under Window Menu.

  • Storing images of different format in the same table

    Hi there,
I have a table with one field of type OrdImage and I am saving in such a table images that are actually stored in an external directory. If images are of the same type everything works fine but if I mix jpeg and gif images I got an error while populating the image properties:

    I need clarify a thing:
If you store image1.jpg only and do setProperties(), it works, and
if you store image2.gif only and do setProperties(), it works, but
if you store image1.jpg in one row and image2.gif in another row and do setProperties(), does it fail?
If this is true, call Oracle Support and provide the image files.

  • Different sized clips in the same sequence?

I have footage from various types of cameras with resolutions ranging from 640x480 to 720P in the same sequence.
    1. What is the best size to set my sequence? At the size of the largest clip?
    2. What else can I do to make the different sized clips work well in the same sequence (with the understanding that 640x480 is low res and poor quality)?
    Thanks.

    Hi Stanwelks,
    1) No, especially since the 640x480 material you have is not of good quality (even if it was you'd lose quality by enlarging the images). Sounds like that converting the HD material to SD could be your best choice especially if you have more standard definition material than HD.
2)Keep it simple. Convert the HD material to DV and work on a DV timeline. This way you can match your sequence settings to one format, making sure you don't get to render all the time and that the lower res material is not going to look any worse.

Good to hear that you've had some success with the import.
I tried 3 times to do it before I finally changed it to H.264, and it worked on the first try.  The quality of the compression was terrible with those settings compared to my standard settings, but I'm just glad it worked.
Rather than Share>Export using QuickTime and then choosing your own settings for H.264, you may get a better result if you simply use the Share>Export Movie option. Alternatively, use the Share>Media Browser option (as I mentioned in my earlier post). You will be presented with a range of sizes to choose from. Depending on your target, it's usually best to select the highest size available, such as Large, HD 720p or HD 1080p. However, for producing a DVD it's best to not go beyond the HD 720p size, as the DVD will be downscaled during encoding to Standard Definition in the appropriate size for either PAL or NTSC.
In my experience, both these options (Export Movie or Media Browser) produce a video file of excellent quality. The files will be in H.264 format and will have the file extension .mov or .m4v depending on the size of the export. I'm assuming that your camera records HD video in AVCHD format.
These files work well with iDVD (or other DVD authoring programs). The export process for the presets is optimised by Apple to produce high quality video files at a reasonable file size. So, selecting a preset may give you a much better result. Choosing your own H.264 settings when using the "Export using QuickTime" method could be why "the compression was terrible". You may have selected a data (bit) rate that was too low. There is always a trade-off between quality and file size when compressing video.
So, to summarise, try one of the Apple presets using either Share>Export Movie or Share>Media Browser.

  • Problem with SQL*Loader and different date formats in the same file

DB: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
    System: AIX 5.3.0.0
    Hello,
I'm using SQL*Loader to import semi-colon separated values into a table. The files are delivered to us by a data provider who concatenates data from different sources and this results in us having different date formats within the same file. For example:
    ...;2010-12-31;22/11/1932;...
I load this data using the following lines in the control file:
    EXECUTIONDATE1     TIMESTAMP     NULLIF EXECUTIONDATE1=BLANKS     "TO_DATE(:EXECUTIONDATE1, 'YYYY-MM-DD')",
    DELDOB          TIMESTAMP     NULLIF DELDOB=BLANKS          "TO_DATE(:DELDOB, 'DD/MM/YYYY')",
    The relevant NLS parameters:
    NLS_LANGUAGE=FRENCH
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT=DD/MM/RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE=FRENCH
If I load this file as is the values loaded into the table are 31 dec 2010 and 22 nov *2032*, aven though the years are on 4 digits. If I change the NLS_DATE_FORMAT to DD/MM/YYYY then the second date value will be loaded correctly, but the first value will be loaded as 31 dec *2020* !!
How can I get both date values to load correctly?
    Thanks!
    Sylvain

This is very strange, after running a few tests I realized that if the year is 19XX then it will get loaded as 2019, and if it is 20XX then it will be 2020. I'm guessing it may have something to do with certain env variables that aren't set up properly because I'm fairly sure my SQL*Loader control file is correct... I'll run more tests :-(

  • Export Limits for Multiple Sequences in the Same Sequence File for TS3.0

    Hi,
I am using TestStand 3.0 to a test application. Because we want to have our limits in a csv-file I have tried to use the Import/Export tools in TS. But this application only supports to export limits for the selected sequence (e.g. main, or subseq1) at a time. This makes it a pretty hard job to export limits from 30 test sequences. What I need is a possibility to export my limits from all sequences in my seq-file.
I have found an article on NI Dev. Zone about Export Limits for Multiple Sequences in the Same Sequence File (TestStand 1.0.x).
    http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.DISPLAY_EPD4?p_guid=B45EACE3D9CB56A4E034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52236&p_submitted=N&p_rank=&p_answer=&p_sourc
    e=External
I have tried to use this code but because its for TS 1.0.2 the limits from my multi num test step and my custom steptypes isnt exported. So that doesnt fulfill my needs.
Is there an updated version with all sequences added to TS 3.0? Is there other good solutions to my problem out there?

    Hi David Mc,
Thanks for your reply. I have already considered this solution because the source code is added in the folder described in your reply. But that is not a good solution. It will cost me a lot of time to establish the toolchain, reverse engineer the source code, make the implementations and build a new dll (most off these is already knowledge by NI). And when NI make future releases of TestStand I have some merge work to do every time NI have made some changes in the files I have changed.
But as I write above: I have hoped that NI already has/or could made a solution like the one to 1.0.2 (see link in root) to me. And then they could include it in the next version.
I don't think I am the only one in the TestStand world that ne
    ed this feature.

  • Loading the different result sets in the same sequence for the target table

    Dear all,
I have 5 tables say A,B,C,D as my source and i made 3 joins P,Q,R .the result sets of these 3 joins are loading into a target table X but with 3 different targets with same table name.
I created one sequence say Y as my target table has primary key and mapped to three different targets for the same target table which i need to load.
But after deployed and executed successfully ,i am able to load the data from three join result sets with differeent sequence numbers.
I am looking to load data like this.
If First Result set P has 10 Records,SEcond Result Set Q Has 20 and the third result set has 30 records then while loading data into first target it creates the seq for the 10 records from 1..10 and while loading the data for second result set ,it creates the sequence from 11 ...20 and while loading the third target with the third result set it creates the sequence from 21 ----30.
But i am looking to load the three result sets in the sequence 1to 10 but not like creating fresh sequence for each result set.
how can we achieve this in owb?
any solution for this will be appreciated.
    thank you
    kumar

    My design is like following
    SRC1
    ---->Join1--------------------------->Target1( Table X)<-----Seq1
    SRC2
    SRC3
    ----> Join2----------->Target2(Table X)<----Seq1
    SRC4
    -----> Join3 -------> Target3(Table X)<-----Seq1
    SRC5
Here the three 3 targets are for the same Table X as well sequence is same i.e seq1
If the First Join has 10 rows ,Seq1 generates sequence in 1 to 10 while loading target1
But while loading second target,Same Seq1 is generating new sequence from 11 but i am looking to load target2 and target 3 starting from sequence 1 but not from 11 or so.
    As per your comments :
you want to load 3 sources to one target with same sequence numbers?
    yes
Are you doing match from the other two sources on first source by id provided by sequence (since this is the primary key of the table)?
    No
can you please tell me how to approach for this?
    Thank You
    Kumar

  • XML Export Only Exports the Same Sequence

No matter which sequence I select for XML Export, it only exports the sequence named "SNO Intro."

Does your nested sequence have a different timebase than the parent sequence? Is it multi-cam? Are you selecting your parent sequence in the project window before exporting? If you copy everything from your nested sequence and paste it into the appropriate place in the parent sequence, does it export correctly? These are all just troubleshooting ideas to get to the real root of the problem.

  • How to edit footage in the same sequence from two different cameras:  1) Standard Def 4:3 aspect ratio, and 2) Standard Def shot 16:9, anamorphic?

What can I say.  We blew the shoot.  His high-end Sony camera - std def at 4:3 aspect ratio.
My camera - the little Panasonic DVX100, set to anamorphic, so 16:9 aspect ratio.
I have to edit this footage together in the same sequence.  Obviously, I'm getting prompts to change the sequence settings every time I try to move footage onto the timeline.
Alternatively, would someone just thunk me in the head.
I'm sad about this.  I can't believe it happened.

What is the ouput - standard 4:3 DV?
If so, put a clip of the 4:3 material into a timeline and accept the offer to conform the timeline to that material. Then, any of the 16:9 material will be part of that settings - however - you will want to go into the DISTORT settings in the Viewer to alter the material so that the image extends beyond the sides (aka a center cut). It has been a long time since I've done this but I remember the number is something like 33 (or -33).

  • 2 different files in the same location?

When we upload files they go all in one folder.
The first editor calls his graphic "Picture 1.png" (wonder where that came from..)
Sure sometimes before the item gets deleted another one will upload an completly different picture with the same filename.
The thing that it different between the 2 would be the Asset ID. So I was wondering if there is a way to make folders with asset IDs in the location where everybody uploads there stuff to.
To tidy up on the long run I guess we just would need to delete the empty folders (as the content has been archived).
How would I do this? How do other people deal with the same filenames for different files? It even happens within the same production so the solution to create an subfolder for each production (read this a while ago) does not work for us.
I know that for future projects we will tell people to use more describing filenames (but even there: there might be two different kitchens called the same..) but I also talk about a huge, messy archive to migrate..
    thanks

Let me rephrase things a bit as I used the term Excel chart  to literally. We create charts in SSRS. We then use a query string that includes "rs:command=render&rs:format=Excel" to get the chart into Excel. The "chart" in Excel is really just an
image and the associated data table is the cells filled in with the data. We then "select" the area that encompasses all of these objects and paste that into the PowerPoint slide.
Our source folder structure is as follows (note that I while I am being generic, the Ecel file names are the same between folders:
    Folder A: File1.xls, File2.xls, File3.xls ..... File40.xls
    Folder B: File1.xls, File2.xls, File3.xls .....File40.xls
This goes on for 8 folders but can be as many as 30
The routine we use to create the xls file from the SSRS chart names the xls file and puts it in the correct folder.
The idea was we would create a template chart set in PPT for folder A and then create copies of the PPT and change the links to point to Folder B, etc.
We have ensured that all Excel Documents are closed when we try to do an update.
We are also getting the following error and I'm paraphrasing: Cannot open multiple instances of a file of the same name even if it is in a different location. This occurs when doing an update links when we don't get the initial error message I listed first.
If we change the names of the files in each folder: i.e. FolderAFile1.xls, FolderAFile2.xls, etc then we can do the update links. This is time consuming as the SSRS exports are done by the end users and we are the developers trying to create a reusable solution.
One other issue we are seeing which I hope you can address is that when we are getting the update links to work, the process opens up each Excel file THREE times. It takes almost 15 minutes to update a PPT with 18 linked xls files.

  • Can we write data to different sheets in the same excel output file ?

    Hi,

Is it possible to write the data to different sheets on the same excel file using XMLP?
Please let me know how to do this.

  • Can I print several different pics of the same size on one shee  of papert?

    Hi,
I should like to print a group of several different pics of the same size & resolution on one sheet of (A4) paper eg 6 family photos. There doesn't seem to be a template for this - just two choices of format (both with one large and a few smaller format) and there is no 'Printer' pop up menu.
I tried to laboriously copy pics to a two column works word processing document (after resizing in a different one so that they would fit in the columns). This is time consuming and when down sizing the pics lose resolution!
Maybe I can download templates somewhere on the apple site as suggested by apple care but I couldn't find out where. Maybe there is a possibility of doing some contact prints?
Any help much appreciated - many thanks - John

Select the 6 photos you want printed in the iPhoto Library or Album window.
    Choose File->Print.
In the Print dialog box, Select the paper size in the Paper popup menu.
In the Style popup menu, select N-Up.
In the Photos per page popup select 6.
The preview should show what you'll get. I hope its what you wanted.
