Exporting DVCPRO HD720p50 to DVD (PAL)

Hi. I'm currently edit on DVCPRO HD720p50, using FCP 6.0.2, Blackmagic HD card.
The video looks fine after upgraded my FCP to 6.0.2. It is extremely impressive in the timeline, but having problem in DVD (PAL) output.
I have tried out several approach, e.g. exporting direct from timeline using Compressor, export uncompressed mov and import to DVD Studio Pro, editing on different timeline and formats, but it ended up with the same problem - flicker visual. It ONLY works fine with DVCPRO HD720p50, editing timebase:50 (not even 25), and only can play back with SDI. Anything other than this setting will be flicker.
Is there any solution for this? Any suggestions to export DVCPRO HD720p50 to DVD in PAL? Help...

Finally, I found the way to do it.
DVCPRO HD 720p50 works absolutely fine when I export as a NTSC DVD, but it flickle when I export as PAL. Anyone know why?
I intended to export a PAL DVD, thus shot in 50p, but Compressor does not work well with PAL.

    Hello,
I would like to convert DVDs (PAL, NTSC) to mp4.
I have Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, but never used it.
I am looking for a easy to understand information how to do it step by step.
Maybe there are already how tos for this?
    PAL: 720 x 576, 25 fps
    NTSC: 720 x 480, 29 fps
    Thank you very much.

Oh, you need to learn the program first before you can export anything...
Get yourself a month of Lynda.com subscription and learn CS3.

Adobe TV had a course for CS3 but they dropped that.

  • Hi everybody, I am trying to create a DVD pal without menu with the program iDVD from a .mov file. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

Hi everybody, I am trying to create a DVD pal without menu with the program iDVD from a .mov file. Any ideas? Thanks so much.

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!

  • Video DVD PAL poor with Encore CS4

Good day, I am new to this forum.
I ask if you can help on this problem I have with Enore CS4.
After you export a sequence from Premiere CS4 format MPG2 x PAL DVD on Encore, and built my menus for DVD video, the control of various features in Encore atemprima everything works well and the video is of excellent quality, but after doing Burning with a preset encore x DVD PAL, the video played back on any player (whether desktop, both PC) appears to have lost quality looks as blurry and with loss of contrast. I followed exactly all the settings encore, but maybe being transcoding is a loss of video quality.
I tried the PAL Ulead DVD Workshop 2.0 (the program always used before encore) with the same filmato MPG2 used encore, with Ulead DVD is perfect and does not lose quality.
Could you help me to see if something wrong or is it a problem encore cs4?
I have a PC with OS Win XP Prof. Service pak3, Ram 4GZ DDR3, Intel Core Quad Q9850, n. 4 HD 7200/rpm, Grafic Ati Readon HD 4870 latest drivers installed.
Thanks for the help I will be given.

Just to be clear, when you initially did a Burn to Disc for the DVD, it tested and played perfectly, including the full Linked Timelines. It was ONLY with the Flash Export, that things went pear-shaped. Is that correct?
    Good luck,

  • Error message when trying to export audio file to DVD

I recorded an interview on a portable voice recorder and transferred the data into Garage Band by connection of a cable connected to the headphone of the device to the speaker input in the Mac. Garage Band took the audio file. It is 1.5 GB. I did some minor editing and wanted to save the file onto a DVD. When I selected "share" to export song to the DVD, an error message came up stating that the file was over 2 GB, which it wasn't. The file was then broken in two and one part was "shared", but the same error message came up. I took the computer to the Apple store for the Genus to help me with, but he had the same problem. The only way that he was able to save the audio file to a DVD was to select the file and place the file on a blank DVD. However, it can only be listened on a computer with Garage Band. I intend to use my voice recorder again to interview people. How can I input the audio file in the Mac and have it saved on a DVD to be played on multiple devices?

  • How to Export Catalog to Multiple DVD

    Question.
My main catalog has a shoot of about 1500 photos from a swim meet we covered.  I would like to move these photos off the harddrive and onto DVDs and free up some space.  I would really like to export these photos as a catalog because we did some edits on them and sorted them into different groups.
My problem is that everytime I try to do this it results in a catalog of over 12-15GB of information and do to its size it will not fit on a single DVD and I do not know how to make the catalog span over multiple DVDs.  If anyone has a suggestion please let me know
    Thanks
    Bil M

When you Export a number of images to CD/DVD Lightroom will automatically let you now how many discs are needed.
Your particular case seems to be, how to get the catalog on the discs aswell.
    Try this.
Export all files to DVD via the usual export dialog. Now that you have a number of discs create a new catalog.
Catalog the discs and then burn that catlog to cd.
The result is a master cd with catalog and previews (very quick for one to flip through) and a selection of DVDs to which the catalog refers.

  • Export to an unusual DVD

I made several training videos for my company. The content consisted of 1024x768 screen captures made with Camtasia (saved using the Techsmith codec) and a studio produced audio track. I had to export the project as an uncompressed .avi and then import that .avi into Camtasia and let Camtasia render it to .wmv. (Camtasia seems to have a superior render for screen caps to .wmv). My boss now wants me to create a DVD vesion of the videos with a menu.
    Here's where I start:
    1. I have several Premiere projects that Has 1024x768 video saved with using the Techsmith codec
    2. I have the audio content for each project - 16 bit 44.1 stereo
Here's where I need to end:
    1. A DVD that displays the 1024x768 content
    2. Plays the audio track in sync with the visual content
    3. Has an initial menu that allows the user to select which video to watch
    4. These DVDs will only be viewd on computers that are equipped with DVD drives
    Thanks,
    Al

Since you have a Premiere project there is nothing to keep you from exporting it as a DVD to Encore. This will result in 720x480 resolution. The quality will be better if you use export Movie using Microsoft AVI and DebugMode Frameserver, AviSynth with Dan Isaac's hd2sd script, and HC encoder, but that requires a little more know-how that is documented in other threads.
I recently did something similar. My project was 720p and I exported via the FrameServer to create the 720p signpost file. The following AviSynth script file was then used as the input to HC encoder. The results were an excellent 30p DVD that I authored with Encore.
    AviSource("720p signpost file.avi")
    hd2sd(interlaced=false, interlaced_out=false, OutputColorSpace="YUY2", NR=0, OutputFieldRate=30, OutputHeight = 720, OutputWidescreen = true, WidescreenType = 0, SmoothTime = false)
    ConvertToYV12()

  • How do I export from FCP5 to DVD if I don't have the DVD studio?

I have a FCP 5 and I'm trying to export my movies to DVD without loosing my quality. Have no DVD studio and so I can't compile back the m2v, ac3 and the aiff files together when I export the movie through the compressor. When I tried exporting any other way I got a low quality movie. What can I do?
    Thank you very much!

File - Export - Quicktime Movie
No need to click self-contained if you don't want to. iDVD will read and compress it for you even as a non self-contained movie.

  • CS4: Trouble exporting file for Corel DVD Moviefactory

I recently completed a project on Adobe Premiere CS4... I had been exporting as Microsoft AVI NTSC Widescreen format (the project is 16:9) and had burned DVDs with Windows DVD maker, which came out good enough, but now I need to create a DVD with set chapter marks (which you can't do with DVD maker).  I'd been running into several problems trying to export into Moviefactory...
    1) The Microsoft AVI files are not formatting to full widescreen.  There are black bars on the sides even though it's a 16:9 file and the project is 16:9.  I suspect this is an issue I'd have to go to a Corel forum for but I thought I'd ask here too...
    2) If exporting to MPEG-2 DVD format, it formats the video properly, but the file itself contains no audio, no matter which audio setting I export it to...  there's no audio on the file itself so the problem is there before I bring it to Corel.
So far MPEG-2 has been the only file can export into Moviefactory that formats the video correctly, but I can't get Premiere to export it with sound... not sure what the issue is.

MPEG-2 DVD is not supposed to have audio, that is in a separate file (I don't know the suffix, but the first part of the name is the same as the video portion)
When you import the MPEG video file, you also need to import the related sound file

  • Cannot Export Audio Track to DVD

I've edited a video using Premier CS4. Wanting to burn a DVD of the video, I choose File/Adobe Dynamic Link/Send to Encore, then select the settings I want, and click Build. So far so good, but when I play the resulting disc it has no audio track. Yes, the audio track is on in the Premier project.
I tried exiting the programs and then re-opening. I also installed all updates.
    Any suggestions? Thanks.

    W Vought,
One thing to consider is that Encore is designed to produce DVD-Video discs. What you are looking for, it seems, is a DVD-Audio disc. Is that correct?
One way to sort of accomplish this would be to Export>AME just your Audio to a WAV, or AC3 file. Burn that to a data DVD. You could try to create a dummy Audio_TS and Video_TS folder structure, place your AC3 into the Audio_TS folder and burn with ImgBurn, Nero, whatever. The Audio_TS is for DVD-Audio discs. Then a DVD player *should* be able to play the Audio, if it has the capabilities.
Another workaround would be to just put Black Video on you VT 1 and the Export to Encore. DVD-Video needs to have Video of some sort - Black Video qualifies as Video.
Now, I do not do DVD-Audio discs, so do not know which authoring sofrware you'd use. Neil Wilkes, a MOD in the Encore forum, does this all of the time, as its his main business. I'll bet he'd have suggestions on what you need to do.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Best Export Settings for 24PA DVD

Just finished 10 minute production shot with a Canon xl2 in 24p advanced pulldown with 16:9. After exporting with compressor to DVD Studio pro and burning - have some leterboxing and quality is not what I expected. Also - client reports "pause" when playing on new dell. Need the highest quality - but production needs to play on most popular newer model computers. Would appreciate any advice anyone can provide:
    1. What is best export setting to use from FCP for DVD production of a 24pa 16:9 project? Should 16:9 be checked under the advanced sequence setting - or does that cause a problem in dvd studio pro?
    2. What is best compressor setting? DVDbest quality 90 minute 16:9?
Really need some help on this - we have a fantastic production and wand it to be displayed in the proper format at the highest quality. Thanks so much.

  • F.C.E. Difficulties in saving to DVD - PAL

Having looked through this section and telling Apple that it was impossible to save via anything to DVD on the Pal side of the pond I reverted to PRINTING TO VIDEO and saving back to tape. The idea being, then to send that tape source to a combi Panasonic VHS/DVD player/recorder.
No prob in sending to the tape but when a new blank DVD was inserted in the DVD drive the message came up (on the Panasonic combi) NOT FORMATTED . Having looked at the instruction book at this point the DVD was FORMATTED and the video saved from tape in real time and full quality - no compression.
Guess with is kit I should have formatted the DVD before EXPORT in F.C.E. , Q.T. and iDVD - Sorry Apple

Thanks for the replys people - and I am not going to argue at all with any of your statements they all make sense but the system did not work for me with iDVD.
Having done one video successfully and trying to start another I now cannot get any audio tracks from the browser after capture. There is audio on two tracks on the player but in the system settings AUDIO is 'greyed out'. This has happened after the last experienc and I cannot reset even by re-intsall.
At the risk of overstepping I would value any help on this one please

  • Exporting HDV 1080i to DVD

I tried exporting 1080i video using Quick Time Conversion and setting it to DVCPRO50 - NTSC to create a DVD. The DVD video looks very pixilated and jagged on a Standard Def screen. I tried using compressor and it looks the same. How can I export these videos so that they look right?
    Vince

    Vince,
Try searching for the 'Bonsai' method - gives excellent results from HDV.
Basically you drop your complete HDV sequence onto a DV50 Anamorphic timeline but before you do this set your Video Processing_Motion filtering Quality to Fastest (Linear) - you'll find this tab under sequence settings.
It'll obviously need rendering (although it will render when you export) but you then export to Compressor on your chosen DVD settings - I have a custom setting based on the length of my piece calculated by a bitrate calculator.
This method gives the best results going from HDV to SD and will work with DVCPro HD although you don't have to change the video processing settings, infact don't because it causes fine lines to flicker.
PS Bonsai is a person and has a website on this.
