Exporting dvcprohd 720p to play on youtube

I have a sequence shot with an hvx in the 720p native format. I am trying to export it and put it on youtube. I am very new to hd, and I am hoping someone can help me with the right export settings I need for the best playback on the web. I know that youtube only allows 100mb as the maximum file size. I have seen videos on youtube, that were shot in hd,with the hvx that look amzing and I would like to know how that done. I would really appreciate any help or advise about this.

If youtube is still only offering a 4:3 player window, you need to create either a cropped 4:3 version of your Widescreen, or a letterboxed one, because if you upload your clip in a native 16x9 or whatever widescreen ratio, YouTube's encoding will stretch it vertically to fill the frame...and you'll have kung-fu-movie-credits-vision. Whatever you output from FCP, you can use something like MPEG Streamclip to make a 4:3 letterboxed version by setting the top and bottom crop to negative values (you'll neeed to do some math according to your original vertical pixel count). Then, take that resulting 4:3 letterboxed version and turn it into a compatable upload format. I usually go with a regular MPEG-1 made in Compressor or a DiVX MPEG-4, which seems to hold audio sync better than H.264's or AVI's...and at 320x240, which I guess is the native size of its player window. I play with settings until I get the size down right, if it exceeds 100MB to begin with.

By the way...I *'in hate how things look, play, and sound on YouTube and do all I can to avoid it.

  • Export DVCPROHD 720p Under 500MB - Please Help Me! :(

    Hey guys,
Im new to this community but I have a question that has been killing me all night. I have done export after export after export and still, to no avail have i ended at a solution.
    Here is the deal:
I have exported several movies from Final Cut Pro and uploaded them to Vimeo.com in HD and everything has been fine, smooth, and effortless for the most part. When I choose the option File > Export > Quicktime Movie it usually takes under 2 minutes, and creates a self contained movie on my desktop. Problem is this file is 2GB and sometimes wont play on other peoples computers, or macs. Possibly something to do with a final cut setting, not sure.
But here is my problem, I usually go File > Export > Export using quicktime Conversion. I leave the settings as they are, never touch them and just save it to the desktop. It finishes a few minutes later and I have my file, 1280 X 720 resolution, H.264 and there is another codec that reads DVCPROHD 720p. I recently exported an interview I shot the EXACT same way without changing anything accept it seems to be missing this DVCPROHD 720p codec when I check out the file settings..
If i open up the other videos that worked, the settings are pretty m3.06 Ghz uch exactly the same, but they have the "DVCPROHD 720p" codec thing. All the exports I have tried in the last 5 hours don't.. Unless its a 2GB file. The first movies I made were easily as long as my interview and not nearly as big in size.
Im stuck. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or how to include this codec, or how to export this so its under 500 mb with the dvcprohd thing.
Please help? If anyone actually understood that..

A file uses only one codec, never two. So your files are either DVCPROHD or h264
(or somthing else), but not both.
What codec is your FCP sequence (select the sequence and type command-0)?
DVCPROHD is a better quality codec, might take less time to encode
(depending on your FCP sequence settting) and is medium sized.
h264 is a very high-quality codec for web-delivery, takes a LONG time to encode,
    and results in small files.
Export > Quicktime Movie (using currrent settings, and self-contained)
will use the same codec as your sequence. This is the fastest export.
Export > Export using quicktime Conversion will permit you to make a
lot of choices (and maybe a lot of mistakes). It defaults to h264.

  • Exporting DVCPROHD 720p 24p

    Hi,
Just upgraded from premiere pro 1.5 to CS3 and am having a bit of trouble exporting footage in the correct aspect ratio. When I export movie it always puts it into a 4:3 image when the footage was shot 16:9.
    Please help.

    OK.
My guess is there's nothing wrong with the footage, only the display mode of WMP. You may need to adjust it to show widescreen material properly. I don't use WMP myself, specifically because it does have this problem, so I'm not sure how that's done.

  • What is the best compressor setting to use ... when exporting a 720p timeline from FCP for a project that will only be played back in a standard def monitor?

What is the best compressor setting to use for DVD StudioPro ... when exporting a 720p 30 timeline from FCP for a project that will only be viewed in a standard def monitor?

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
    Is there an easier way?

  • Plugins Won't Play on Youtube!!!

I've been having lot's of trouble with third party plugins. When I export them, they play fine EXCEPT when they are uploaded to youtube. They tend to only play over wifi (specifically the blink filter). I usually export in 720p and as h264.  Any suggestions?

Please be more precise as to what happens when you try to watch a YouTube video.

Today i had my first shoot with iMovie and i exported a 720p movie. My macbook pro has i5 with 13 inch it came with lion pre installed. My  cpu temp was 80~83 and the fan was 3000~4300? Is that normal? what s your results?

  • Exporting DVCPROHD AVI

I am running Final Cut Pro 6.02 and am working with DVCPROHD 720P footage.
What I need to do is export footage I have captured in FCP to work with in Premier on a PC computer. I would like to keep the file format at 720p DVCPROHD, should I be exporting this as a quicktime or an avi? If the avi is even possible.
The only options I have found for the avi file is a standard definition DVCPRO or dvcpro50.
    Any help would be great!
    Cheers,
    Jesse

Premiere has it's own DVCPRO HD codec that is AVI. The one FCP uses is QUicktime and only viewable on computers with FCP. And FCP cannot convert the DVCPRO HD files it captures into AVIs that Premiere uses. Nor can Compressor AFAIK.
If you want high quality HD files for Premiere, either capture in Premiere, or look into the SHEER codecs by BitJazz.

    Hi,
Try a clean installation of the flash plugin/activeX as follows.
First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    Flash Player Uninstaller.
When the download has completed, close all browser windows, open your Download folder and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.  Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading.
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.
If the above doesn't correct the issue, then try the following.
First of all, download and run the Shockwave uninstaller on the link below.
    http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/shockwave/uninstall/win/sw_uninstaller.exe
After this has completed, restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded, download and install the latest version of Shockwave on the following link.
    http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/
Again, after this installation, restart the notebook.
    Regards,
    DP-K

Please help. When exporting a 720p video using Quicktime Conversion in FCP it saves some extra temporary files to my computer. The temporary file it saves is called ICMMultiPassStorage. This file gets so large that eventually the program and exporting process crashes. I have been able to locate the file using GrandPerspective and close out of FCP to delete it. But when I try exporting the movie again it creates the ICMMultiPassStorage file again. I have made sure my scratch disks are set to my external hard drive so I know that isn't the issue. How do I fix this problem so these temporary files are not being stored on my internal hard drive instead of my external? Thanks!

Try exporting the timeline "using current settings" via Make QuickTime Movie, then submit that clip to Compressor for the transcode. This should be faster and less painful.

You might want to take a look at [this thread|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5446865], but barring the theoretically possible "hacks" mentioned there, not really.

  • Export quicktime video to play super fast.

I have a 8 hour video of me driving from Ohio to Kansas. Isn't there a way to export it so it plays super fast; kinda like they do on some music videos?

Tilting at windmills if I ever saw it.
You could download the iTunes version (a little over one gigabyte) to have a file to work with and use QuickTime Pro to export.
You would then switch to the MPEG-4 Video codec rather than use the H.264 version that is nearly impossible play without issues on a G3.
Cut the frame rate in half (30 down to 15) and do the same with the data rate (not sure of those values).
Size the file at 640X480 (not sure of the actual dimensions so check the aspect) and leave the audio track the same. Wait (probably a very long time) for the export to complete.
You could test a few one minute "cuts" from the source to check your settings so you really don't waste a lot of time.

  • Why am I having trouble running Adobe Flash Player 11 on my 2011 Macbook Air? I've downloaded and installed it repeatedly; yet when I try to open certain images online or play certain Youtube segments, I get the message, "You must have Adobe Flash 11..."

Why am I having trouble running Adobe Flash Player 11 on my 2011 Macbook Air? I've downloaded and installed it repeatedly; yet when I try to open certain images online or play certain Youtube segments, I get the message, "You must have Adobe Flash 11..."  My computer tells me it is installed and running.

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 5.
    1. If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, sign in to your YouTube account and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    2. If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser.
    3. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu. A folder should open. Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    4. Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from this page:
Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player
Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    5. If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked Enable plug-ins.
    6. Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.
    7. In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
