Exporting enhanced podcast to share

Trying to help my daughter share an enhanced podcast created in Garageband with her friends.  We have exported the file using AAC conversion.  We have an .mp4 file.  Whats next?  She wants to post the file for viewing on facebook.  It is a podcast featuring music and photos.  However, I cant seem to see the photos in anything but garageband  Any help is appreciated!  This is our first mac and we are learning together!

... it only appears in iTunes as a AAC music files no images appear.
Enhanced podcasts do appear as music files in iTunes. How the images are displayed depends on your iTunes settings. In my settings, for example, the image appears in that little window below the playlists, and if I close that window, I don't see anything at all. Maybe you have done that?

  • Exporting Enhanced Podcast

Using GB 08 to create enhanced podcast with embedded jpeg files of PowerPoint presentation. Completed the episode and exported using export to iTunes but it only appears in iTunes as a AAC music files no images appear. I tried exporting to disk and adding to the iTunes library with same result.
The files will play and display images correctly using Quicktime but not iTunes. I also tried exporting to iWeb, hoping I could pull the converted file from there to upload into iTunes but no luck.
So what gives?! I've mixed results when using GarageBand to create podcasts and starting to think I should just stick to using iMovie to do this.
    Thanks

  • GB3 Exporting Enhanced Podcast: Stuck at "converting"

I'm trying to share>export a podcast with three images, and it starts to export.
    It does the mixdown
The blue thing goes to the right for 'converting'
But now for the past 15 minutes It's been stuck at 'converting'. (where white/blue lines rotate)
Basically it is not exporting anything.
It does export the song if I turn the podcast track off.
    Image is a 28k JPG
    What can I do?

I've thrown out the plist again
    and
    I've done my disk-permissions repair
    and
I made another project, with another image and mp3.
    it still doesnt work.
and it doesn't matter if I try to export it to iweb, itunes or disk. it keeps the rotating lines thing.

  • Can't get enhanced podcast exported correctly!?!?

As an experiment to developing an enhanced podcast of my own I took a live audio cd and imported it into GB 3.0.2 on one stereo audio track as one continuous file. I then added chapter markers and images on the podcast track.
It seems that no matter what I try I can't seem to get my iPod to recognize the chapters. I've tried exporting to disk and iTunes as well as tried editing the info through iTunes itself to no avail. Plus I also notice that the file doesn't display in iTunes under the Podcast heading like my other downloaded podcasts do.
I even tried deleting all other unused audio tracks as one previous thread suggested that GB has trouble with exporting enhanced podcasts with multiple audio tracks and a mixdown should be performed first and then chapterized. Although as the post also said the menu sould read "Export Enhanced Podcast to Disk..." which mine doesn't say.
Any help in solving this dellima would be greatly appreciated.
    PowerMac G5 ~ w/4.5Gb Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Alright Kids,
It seems that my G5 just doesn't seem to get it! I moved GB and supporting audio files over to my PowerBook G4 and was able to create the podcast with the chapters embedded as I was looking to do.
However the file with multiple audio tracks would not create the chapterized file correctly, and it wasn't until I deleted all unused tracks to one audio track and podcast track that I got the desired result.
I would presume that performing a mixdown and importing the mixed down file into a new GB file to add chapters would be the work around to the issue and in essence be the equivalent to my deleting unused tracks.

  • I can't get garageband to export!  It keeps getting stuck at 'creating chapters' when I try to export my enhanced podcast.  Please help!

I am trying to export my enhanced podcast through garageband.  I have all the current updates.  I am on my MacBookPro 10.6.8 2.3GHz with 8GB ram.  My enhanced podcast (podcast with pictures) is about 80 mins long and I have tried exporting with everything from the lowest settings to the highest always with the same result.  I have tried deleting GB preferences.  I have tried repairing permissions to no avail.
I hit export to disk or send to itunes.
I select some AAC format I want (optimized for spoken podcast).
It slowly builds the mix, normalizes, and creates chapters (yeah, it goes through the creating chapters bar to completion)
Then it goes all candystripe on the creating chapters bar once it fills up and will hang forever (hung for 8 hours....pretty much sounds like 'forever' in my book).
Please help...I have my podcast sitting there waiting to be used....I have tried exporting smaller chunks (by moving the end of file bar) but that doesn't work either.  Is there a way to just send the pictures and the picture start times over to imovie and work with it there?  I'd much rather work with the tools that imovie has but man that program is just a PITA to use when you want to run through 100+ pictures for variable durations (whereas it's easy to just drag and drop with garageband as you do playback).
The file only has one stereo audio track!

Hi notmatthew, I have exactly the same problem as you. I am trying to export a podcast about iPod X Anniversary so I need to publish it next sunday.
It's midnight in Spain but tomorrow I will tray something I read in other post:
    w4b3l said:
    Problem solved.
I deleted the chapters one by one, exporting it each time, until it worked. i then replaced the image (which was a .jpg and i converted to .png) with that chapter and now it works.
    Could you try it?

  • Enhanced Podcast Video Export

Hey there. I need a way to export my enhanced podcasts to a video format so the images that are associated with the audio can appear in programs like iMovie. I tried exporting it as a normal AAC file, but iMovie completely ignored the fact that it was an enhanced podcast.
Is there anyway to export the podcast from GarageBand in a video format? Are there ways other than this to get iMovie to recognize the images?

Thanks for the speedy reply, I've already tried most of what you have suggested.
I've put in and out marker points. I've kept everything generic to what the export function is defaulted to.
I tried exporting (video) (interactive image) and only thing that I seem to get working is an MP3 generated through compressor which doesn't really help my cause in trying to have chapter marked images or 'slides'made from the movie which is currently on the soundtrack timeline..

  • Enhanced podcast NOT exporting chapters

I have been podcasting for more than a year and I just started having this problem. When I export an enhanced podcast (to disk or iWeb), the resulting .m4a does not include the chapters.
I have the podcast track active when I export. Everything looks as it should, but no matter how many times I export the project, I don't get the chapters. Sometimes I don't even get the episode artwork.
PLEASE!! Help me out. I have a project that is ready to launch, but I need to have the chapters included.
    Anyone?

Oh!! I am having this EXACT same problem. My other podcasts exported with the chapters and artwork I placed for them, and now it does not export the art or chapters. I am doing exactly the same thing I was doing before.
Please help!!! Did you find a solution to this??
Does anyone out there know how to fix this?

  • Enhanced podcasts on iweb - embedded URLs misbehave

i create enhanced podcasts with chapters, embedded urls, pics. i usually export ('share') them to/with itunes and my iweb-created site. (as m4a files).
when they go to itunes, and are distributed through itunes, they behave properly, in that when a viewer clicks on an embedded URL link, the page pops open in a separate window and the podcast file stops playing.
when a visitor clicks and plays them from the website, the player opens in a browser window .. then when you click on an embedded url .... it leaves that browser window completely and goes to the page. but the podcast files simply closes ... so to go back to it .... you hit the backwards arrow, and you have to restart the podcast. stoopid. apple says it's hard wired that way, while admitting it's a dumb setup. does anyone know a way around this ? i'm not a code monkey, but i can do a little hacking if necessary. thanks ....

After checking out the history of photography, I see it uses a double text track with photo-jpeg track for the photos, this is a similar format for chapter markers on itunes movies, chapter markers are accessed via the up button on the remote, so the possibility that photos could be seen by a back door method isn't possible anyway because the up button already has a function for audio files on the tv.
In short no you can't see the photos I'm afraid.

Embedding links isn't something I've ever tried: I would suggest you ask in the GarageBand forum.

  • Viewing Enhanced Podcasts?

Hopefully I'm overlooking something, but I can't seem to figure out how to automatically view still images included in enhanced podcasts on my iPad. When I download the podcasts from iTunes, they load and play via my iPod application. I see the poster frame and the audio plays fine, but I can't see subsequent images the way I can when viewing the same podcasts in iTunes on my MBP, MP or MB.
The podcasts I'm trying to watch is "The Martin Bailey Photography Podcast," in case an example will help.
    Thanks!

here's been my work around solution that seems to work fine - there's probably a quicker way, so let me know.
    1. from garage band, share to disk (for better quality images, i took off the set images to 300x300 box). don't send to itunes yet. file exports as an .m4a.
    2. open .m4a file using quicktime (i use quicktime player 10.0). file uploads images, chapters, etc.
    3. save file as .mov file. (select format that works for you - i've been trying the HD 480p option).
    4. drag .mov file to itunes.
    5. sync MOVIES. play within movies.
    6. play out of the video APP.
hope that helps. let me know if you have any better luck or other options. seems terrible that i would have to save every enhanced podcast as a .mov file.

  • Enhanced podcast with scanned images

I'm working with a music teacher to help her create an enhanced podcast of a short children's book. She wants kids to be able to view the podcast on an iPod Touch. She has scanned in each page of the book, brought them into GarageBand and added voice. When she exports for either iPod or iPhone, the text of the story is unreadable and fuzzy when viewed on the iPod.
The photos themselves are perfect when viewed in iPhoto, no problems reading the text.
Can anyone give advice on where the problem might be? Would it be with the scanner and the size/resolution of the scanned pages? Or is there some setting or process within GarageBand to redo?
    Thanks for your help!

If the text is fine in iPhoto then the problem is not with the scanner.
The issue will be with the compression used when creating the 'podcast' or movie.
What settings does she use to export / share from Garageband? Did she try exporting it as a full quality movie first and then converting it in iTunes?

  • Trouble viewing enhanced podcasts

When I am using iTunes, I can click on the album art and it displays (almost) full-screen in its own window.
When I am watching a video in iTunes, I can option-click the small image and the movie will play (almost) full-screen in its own window.
If I am watching an enhanced podcast (.m4b) in iTunes, the pictures change (like a slide show) at the beginning of each “chapter.” If I click one of these pictures, it displays (almost) full-screen in its own window. (So far so good...)
    Here’s my question / problem:
When viewing an enhanced podcast in its own window, the pictures do not change in the large window. I can see the pictures still changing in the smaller “album art” window, but the only way to view the picture sequence in the larger window seems to be to click on the small image every time it advances to the new image.
Is this right? Is there some way to watch the changing pictures in their own window?

  • Novice with GarageBand: Can I export completed podcast as m4a file?

    Hello
    Can you help me?
I thought I could create a .m4A file from GarageBand, but I can't find a way to do that.
Is it possible? How do I do that? I'm on a MacBook, OS X 10.7.5 and GarageBand 6.0.5
Many thanks for looking and hopefully being able to answer this question.
    Jennie

First of all, GarageBand is an amzing tool to record/prepare your enhanced podcast with all the artwork, chapters, etc.
You export your finished podcast the same way you would export a song.
You do that in from the Share Menu. Be careful, because the menu items are dynamic, whihc mean they change depending what is currently selected in your Project. Make sure you have the Podcast Track visible. This changes the "Send Song to iTunes..." to "Send Podcast to iTunes..."
On the next page, select Compress using AAC. That creates an .m4a file during the export.
    Hope that helps

  • Enhanced podcast looses photos in itunes. Any ideas?

I have been trying to several days to create an enhanced podcast with photos. When I share it into itunes I have the cover art but none of the other pictures. I am sharing it as an AAC encoder not mp3. It transfers into iweb perfectly fine, but not itunes. Any ideas?

Please explain your problem better. There a no photos in iTunes.
You can sync photos from your computer to your iPod via iTunes. You select in the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes what folder of photos to sync to the iPod.

  • Enhanced Podcast question(s)

I used SoundtrackPro to create an enhanced podcast. I shows up in iTunes as one long track (with chapters and graphics embedded) pretty much how I intended it show.
However 1) I'm not sure how to access the url links that I embedded in it as well (I thought clicking on the cover would do it but no...) 2) How can I get this podcast show up in a podcast directory instead of my music library?

    PS to the above:
I just plugged in my iPhone and it turns out that my podcast can't be dragged on it - I suppose it wants to there through syncing? So It's a bit of a hybrid file: neither a simple m4a nor a podcast.. sigh
(I did use the correct export settings in Soundtrack - AAC/Enhanced Podcast)
